CARLOS DIAZ, HLN HOST (voice-over): Big news breaking tonight on "SHOWBIZ TONIGHT." Like Jerry, like Michael? The startling comparison between Michael Jackson and the coach accused in the Penn State child abuse sex scandal.

JERRY SANDUSKY, ACCUSED OF CHILD SEX ABUSE: I have touched their leg, without intent of sexual contact.

DIAZ: As Jerry Sandusky speaks out for the very first time, why is his case being compared to Michael Jackson`s molestation charges?

Brand new Kim Kardashian blog bombshells. Kim K. reaches out to her fans, just two weeks after her controversial divorce. And the same day she announces she`s hosting a New Year`s Eve bash in Vegas. Is Kim surfacing too soon?

Miley Cyrus` furious attack today on critics who say her weight is out of control. Weight loss guru Richard Simmons speaks out about Miley madness in a must see showbiz newsmaker interview.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE ANNOUNCER: TV`s most provocative entertainment news show breaks news right now.

(END VIDEO TAPE)

DIAZ: Hello, I`m Carlos Diaz in for A.J. Hammer with big news breaking tonight.

The creepy comparison between Michael Jackson and former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky. For the very first time, Sandusky is speaking out about the claims he molested young boys for years. And just like Michael Jackson did, Sandusky is saying, he`s innocent.

And SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you that the attorney who defended Michael Jackson in his molestation case is saying, hold on just a minute. Before you assume Sandusky should be found guilty, we should all take a step back and wait for a moment.

SHOWBIZ TONIGHT with the creepy comparisons.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

SANDUSKY: I said that I am innocent of those charges.

DIAZ: It was an interview that was shocking, graphic and mesmerizing. Former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky accused of sexually abusing eight boys did a phone interview with Bob Costas on NBC`s "Rock Center" with Brian Williams.

And Sandusky repeatedly said he is innocent.

BOB COSTAS, NBC HOST, ROCK CENTER: Are you denying you had any inappropriate sexual contact with any of these underage boys?

SANDUSKY: Yes, I am.

DIAZ: And Sandusky suggests that the extremely disturbing allegations against him are nothing more than misunderstandings.

SANDUSKY: I have horsed around with kids. I have showered after workouts. I have hugged them and I have touched their leg, without intent of sexual contact.

DIAZ: Speaking about the Sandusky case on CNN`s "Anderson Cooper 360," defense attorney Mark Geragos who Michael Jackson hired when he was accused of molesting a 13-year-old boy in 2003 made a startling comparison.

MARK GERAGOS, DEFENSE ATTORNEY: A lot of them this is so reminiscent to me, personally, of what happened when Michael Jackson was first, the charges, were first brought against him.

DIAZ: Michael Jackson also accused of abusing children in a shocking case, also admitted to behavior with children that some found unusual for a grown-up. And like Sandusky --

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SANDUSKY: I say that I am innocent of those charges.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

DIAZ: Michael Jackson always maintained his innocence.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MICHAEL JACKSON, SINGER: I am totally innocent of any wrongdoing.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

DIAZ: SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you Jackson`s former attorney brings up an interesting point. Jackson was acquitted of molestation. And now SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is asking could the same happen with Sandusky?

In his interview with NBC`s Bob Costas last night, Sandusky addressed one of the most graphic allegations made against him. That in 2002 assistant coach Mike McQueary says he saw Sandusky sexually assault a boy estimated to be around 10 years old in a campus locker room.

SANDUSKY: I would say that that`s false.

DIAZ: In his NBC interview, Sandusky had a much different recollection of that locker room incident.

SANDUSKY: OK. We were showering and horsing around and we were, as I recall, possibly, like, snapping a towel, horseplay. In retrospect, I, you know, I shouldn`t have showered with those kids.

DIAZ: In the 2003 documentary, "living with Michael Jackson" which aired in the U.S. on ABC, Jackson also admitted to participating in behavior that some found disturbing, having slumber parties with boys.

JACKSON: Why can`t you share your bed? That`s the most loving thing to do is share your bed with someone.

DIAZ: And like Jackson always insisted his relationships with kids were nonsexual.

JACKSON: It brings tears to my eyes when I see any child who suffers.

DIAZ: Sandusky also says he would not hurt a child in the way in which he`s accused.

SANDUSKY: You know I enjoy young people. I love to be around them. I -- I -- but no, I`m not sexually attracted to young boys.

DIAZ: Sandusky`s attorney tells NBC`s Bob Costas he`s expecting his client to be vindicated.

JOE AMENDOLA, JERRY SANDUSKY`S ATTORNEY: We anticipate we`re going to have at least several of those kids come forward and say, this never happened.

DIAZ: And attorney Mark Geragos says Jackson`s exoneration is a big reason no one should rush to judgment against Sandusky.

GERAGOS: I`m not saying that this guy is not guilty, but at the same time, he is entitled to a presumption of innocence.

(END VIDEOTAPE) DIAZ: So is this Sandusky case Michael Jackson all over again? And could it have the same ending?

Let`s bring in Jean Casarez, correspondent for "In Session" on sister network TruTV. She joins us from the Penn State campus. And in Hollywood tonight, we have defense attorney Debra Opri who worked on the Jackson molestation case.

All right, guys, this Sandusky thing has the whole nation disgusted, but in his big primetime NBC interview, he insisted he`s innocent. We went through this whole thing before with Michael Jackson and we all know how that turned out.

Debra Opri, you were an attorney and you worked on the Jackson molestation case. Let`s go to our showbiz flashpoint. Could Sandusky beat the rap like Michael Jackson? Debra?

DEBRA OPRI, DEFENSE ATTORNEY: Easy answer is yes, but you have to see the distinguishing traits here. First of all, the interviews you played with Michael Jackson when he was in the red shirt. That case led to a settlement, never reached the court room.

As to him with the kids talking, that was a foundation by which the second case, the child molestation case was filed against him. So, his own words coming out of his own mouth which did not help him. As far as this Sandusky giving an interview with words coming out of his mouth, you have to remember that when Michael Jackson went to trial in 2004/2005, it was Thomas Mezzero who was standing beside him giving the press conference and issuing the statement. Nothing came out of Michael Jackson`s mouth.

Sandusky had better keep his mouth shut, because those words are going to come back to haunt him. And his attorney never should have let him answer those questions, himself. He should have had him sitting there and should have done the statement for him.

What will happen with Sandusky? Two different stories, the creative world of entertainment and a sports gym and a shower locker room. Mister damn Sandusky, I`m talking to you personally. You better wake up and keep your mouth shut. Period.

DIAZ: Jean Casarez, you`re on the ground at Penn State. Our showbiz flashpoint, despite the white-hot attention this case is getting, at state college and around the world, can Sandusky beat the rap like Michael Jackson?

JEAN CASAREZ, CORRESPONDENT, IN SESSION, TRUTV: Well, the potential jury pool is right here, and let me tell you, Carlos, let me show you, it`s the headline of every newspaper today in town. And there are two majors.

As you can see, "Sandusky, I`m innocent." So, the theory is definitely coming out. But the defense has put itself in a corner by Jerry Sandusky`s own words and it could become the focal point of the prosecution`s case because he admits many, many things from the interview last night.

DIAZ: But Jean, you make a really great point. And I didn`t even think about the jury pool is right there. We know how loyal Penn State fans can be. Michael Jackson`s former attorney, Mark Geragos, who represented Jackson during his molestation case, is raising a red flag. He says that just like in the Jackson case, before he was acquitted, there was a rush to judgment.

Debra Opri, having been involved in the Jackson case yourself, does he have a point?

OPRI: He has a very good point. There`s always a rush to judgment when you don`t have a trial and you have two cases that have to be presented. This man is innocent before he is tried, and he`s going to be innocent until the jury returns a verdict.

However, I am in agreement with everyone out there who says even though you are going for a jury pool, you`re going to taint the jury, his own words are going to be used against him by the prosecution and he shouldn`t be talking. He should not have given an interview. If he had given an interview, he should have sat there very quietly and let his attorney speak for him.

This is a 67-year-old man over how many boys have come forward, 7, 8 maybe and indictment of 40 counts.

DIAZ: That well said. That is --

OPRI: An indictment of 40 counts. This is a very serious situation and much more so than Michael Jackson.

DIAZ: Well, Sandusky sis saying this is a grand mix-up. But in the same brand, in his interview with Bob Costas, he admitted to behavior than I think most people would find a little creepy. Listen to what he said.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SANDUSKY: Well, in retrospect, you know, I shouldn`t have showered with those kids.

COSTAS: It seems that if all of these accusations are false, you are the unluckiest and most persecuted man any of us has ever heard about.

SANDUSKY: Oh, I don`t know what you want me to say. I don`t think that these have been the best days of my life.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

DIAZ: Jean, you`re there at Penn State. How did this interview play at Penn State, very quickly?

CASAREZ: You know people don`t want to believe that Jerry Sandusky did any of this. They don`t. They loved him. They truly did. People I`ve met associated with him say I`m shocked he could have done this type of behave. If there`s a change of venue motion coming up, it will be from attorney general`s office, I believe, not the defense.

DIAZ: Jean Casarez, Debra Opri, great job as always. Guys, thank you so much.

Alright, moving on now. Miley Cyrus` fat fury. Tonight, Miley is fighting mad at critics who say she lost control of her body. Come on, has she really? Weight loss guru Richard Simmons speaks out on Miley`s madness in a must see, and I do mean must see showbiz newsmaker interview.

Kim Kardashian Is reaching out to her fans just two weeks after her divorce and she`s hosting a big old party on New Year`s Eve in Las Vegas. Our showbiz flashpoint, is Kim surfacing too soon?

A brand new war of words between Elizabeth Hasselbeck and Bill Maher.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

BILL MAHER, COMEDIAN: You`re a public figure. It was not aimed did you personally, but when you are a public figure, you`re out there.

ELIZABETH HASSELBECK, TV HOST: Do you draw the line?

(CROSSTALK)

(END VIDEO CLIP)

DIAZ: You`ve got to see why Elizabeth took her own real time and let loose on Bill Maher today.

DIAZ: Oh. Secrets of the date. The marine who convinced Justin Timberlake to be her date at the Marine Corps Ball tells "Good Morning America" what happened.

Welcome back to "SHOWBIZ TONIGHT." I`m Carlos Diaz in for A.J. Hammer.

And tonight, when Justin met Kelsey. We`ve all been dying to know what really happened over the week when Justin Timberlake made good on his promise to attend the Marine Corps Ball with combat instructor Kelsey Desantis who invited Justin in a You Tube video back in July. And today, we finally found out.

With me in New York, is Jeannie, She`s the host of the great show "How Do I Look?" You look great.

JEANNIE MAI, HOST, STYLE NETWORKS, HOW DO I LOOK? You look fantastic.

DIAZ: Well, thank you, Jeannie, I appreciate your honesty.

MAI: Your tie looks delicious on you. I love it.

DIAZ: Let`s talk about looks, OK? And it looks, you can`t argue, both Justin and Kelsey; they look marvelous together at the ball.

MAI: They did.

DIAZ: They did. Justin later wrote on his Web site, "it turned out to be one of the most moving evenings I`ve ever had." And today, for the first time, Kelsey spilled the beans of that magic night. Watch what she said this morning on the "Today" show.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

KELSEY DISANTES, COMBAT INSTRUCTOR: The whole night was extremely bringing sexy back I guess you could say. It was a good time. We were on the dance floor -- we were on the dance floor and having a good time at the table joking and laughing. So, it was altogether really great. After the ceremony ended and being able to see his face as well as everyone else`s face, he had a smile on his face. You can see he genuinely cared about what it is he saw. And it was just a really good experience.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

DIAZ: Jeannie, I loved how cool that Kelsey was. But don`t you think underneath the marine cover, she`s shouting inside, I can`t believe this is happening to me, somebody pinch me, pinch me. And Jeannie, can you blame her?

MAI: I cannot. I mean, look at her. She`s absolutely smitten. I love actually that she wasn`t losing her composure and wasn`t a giddy mess that made a spectacle of the scene. But she actually was still composing and holding her uniform, completely true to its word, as she carried herself through a night with Justin Timberlake. It`s very respectable, very honoring.

DIAZ: Well Jeannie, tomorrow is the day "People" magazine names its sexiest man alive. And I`m thinking that Justin Timberlake has to be at the top of the list. Don`t you agree?

MAI: He might be, next to you though, right Carlos?

DIAZ: Maybe.

MAI: I mean I think so. No, but I think any guy today you can find doing something that is completely selfless and completely disrobing the whole celebrity title-ship, you know, to himself, I love that. I love seeing this --

DIAZ: Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. He`s got great abs, a great body, he can sing, he can dance.

MAI: And he has a good heart. If you read his blog, I really do love the words he shared.

DIAZ: All right. If Justin is not named "People`s" sexiest man alive, let`s go through of some possibilities very quickly. Let`s go through the list. Here we go. Should it be Will Smith? How about Ryan Gosling? Maybe you could have George Clooney? He`s been named twice.

Jeannie Mai, you make the hot guy call. 20 seconds.

MAI: I have to say it`s going to be Ryan Gosling. Absolutely, because I`ve heard so many stories of how he takes his mom out to all of his red carpets and his awards ceremonies and I just - I love a guy who shows he still respects his mom and takes her out. So, that`s a good guy right there.

DIAZ: Once again, blah, blah, blah. You saw "crazy, stupid love." He`s photo shopped in that. He`s the human photo shopping. He has the 12 pack of abs and the whole thing. Don`t talk about his mom, blah, blah, blah.

MAI: What can I say? I`m an old-fashioned kind of girl. This is what I like, Carlos. I like a man with heart.

DIAZ: Old fashioned Jeannie Mai, thank you so much.

Remember to watch Jeannie`s great show "How Do I Look" on the Style Network and look for Jeannie next year when she appears on NBC`s "Fashion Star." Jeannie, you are star.

MAI: Thank you.

You Tube sensation, Kinna Grannis` video for her single "in your arms" is nothing more than sweet genius. The video took two whole years to make, and the result, delicious.

So, one at a time we project one image to our table and it`s a matter of matching the jelly beans up to our image until it looks good. You turn off the projector, we turn off lights and then we shoot it. We typically use three people to make each frame. Some frames we can build in five minutes. Some frames have taken as long as three hours.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE ANNOUNCER: TV`s most provocative entertainment news show continues right now.

DIAZ: Welcome back to "SHOWBIZ TONIGHT." Its 30 minutes past the hour. I`m Carlos Diaz in for A.J. Hammer with big news breaking tonight.

Weighty issues. Uber-fitness friend of the rich and famous and everyone in between, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsmaker Richard Simmons is here to take on the weighty issues that made for big news breaking today.

First up, Miley`s fat fight. Miley Cyrus has taken to her twitter account to fight back against the critics who are calling her fat. And she`s making her point by posting a picture of an emaciated model and another picture of Marilyn Monroe.

We`re also finding out about what it`s like for Richard Simmons to whip a famous Kardashian into fitness frenzy? What went on behind the scenes when Khloe showed up to take one of his classes?

And Diane Keaton`s startling confessions about her struggle with eating disorders. The Oscar winner reveals her secret struggles.

With me in New York, the man, the absolutely fabulous and there I say downright sparkly Richard Simmons who`s about to release his 63rd and 64th workout DVDs. Richard is also about to come out for a brand new TV show for CMT based on people who sweat alongside him in his exercise studios called Slimmest in Beverly Hills.

Alright, Richard first off, thank you for joining us. I appreciate it.

SIMMONS: Thank you. Thank you, Carlos.

DIAZ: Alright, I have to begin with Miley Cyrus for --

SIMMONS: I`m so upset. I`m so upset. I`m so upset.

DIAZ: She beat back her critics on twitter after she learned she had become the punch line of some bad weight jokes and the subject of some unflattering videos on You Tube. Miley posted a photo of an emaciated woman alongside this tweet to her followers "by calling girls like me fat, this is what you`re doing to other people. I love myself and if you could say the same. I don`t want to be shaped like a girl. I love being shaped like a woman. And trust me, ladies; your man won`t mind either."

Richard, take a look at recent pictures of Miley. She doesn`t even look fat. Can you blame her for getting ticked off, Richard?

SIMMONS: You know, a couple weeks ago I did "Dancing with the Stars" with Chaz Bono. And the lighting wasn`t good. And I was wearing kind a dull silver outfit. And all of a sudden all over the world was picked up that I looked too thin. And it was devastating. I got over 600,000 e-mails and facebook and twitter, because, you know, I`ve been at this weight for a long time.

We have to start being nicer to people. We have turned into rotten bananas and we look at people and we judge them by their pounds and this is wrong. It`s also wrong for celebrities to endorse products that promise you`re going to lose ten pounds every week. We have gone bananas. I`ve been doing this almost 40 years. You can get a bad angle of a picture or the lighting is bad and you can look a little heavier.

Leave Miley alone. Leave these celebrities alone. And just enjoy their performances, but don`t judge them. All my life, I have been judged by the pound. When I was 268 pounds, I was judged. At 136 I`m judged. If you feel good about yourself, and you are doing the best you can do to take care of yourself, these critics have got to stop it. You`re hurting people`s feeling. You`re sending the wrong messages. And Miley`s right.

When you call someone fat, the first thing they want to do is starve, throw up, take diet pills, take laxatives. And I did all of those things and ended up 119 pounds in the hospital. This community of reporters and celebrity people, they need to be kinder or you`re going to find that none of these stars are going to play ball with you. And I hate when I see these stories. Carlos, let me finish. I hate when I see these stories because it hurts people and it sends the wrong message.

DIAZ: Well, I mean, I agree with you completely. Miley is a changing woman. I have to move on to your connection to the Kardashian family, Richard. I know you have been friends with the Kardashians for a long time. Especially Kris and Bruce and Khloe Kardashian actually came to your dance class because she was feeling badly about herself. Let`s watch what happened.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

KHLOE KARDASHIAN, CAST, KEEPING UP WITH THE KARDASHIANS: Everybody has been writing me about my weight. So, I need to try to work out and might as well have fun while doing it.

SIMMONS: Dance for me. What, what. I don`t hear nothing. Slide, slide, slide, clap. Get lower. My God, there`s a cookie on the floor. I see a spicy tuna roll on your (beep). I`m not happy until your underwear`s wet.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

DIAZ: All right, Richard, I know you had a great time. It looks like Khloe had a great time, too. How did she do?

SIMMONS: Khloe did great. She is really a ravishing, beautiful creature. If you see her in person, she`s statuette, no, she`s not anorexic. No, she`s not teeny. She`s a tall woman. And I`m going to do another thing for Khloe`s in Lamar`s show soon.

I have a lot of celebrities and very young people in Hollywood that come to my studio. And you know we all come in different shapes and sizes. Some people can starve and still have a big tushy (ph) or a beg chest. I mean, so what? Why are we putting everybody in cubicles?

Why can`t we just love people the way they are and not judge them and be supportive and loving? You will never get anyone to lose weight, you will never get anybody in shape if you keep on pointing to them saying negative things and hurting their feelings. This is totally wrong, Carlos.

DIAZ: Well Richard, Khloe has been pretty open about her struggles with her weight. But I got to tell you, I was very surprised to hear Oscar winning actress Diane Keaton`s confessions about her struggles with her own body language.

Keaton just revealed that she suffered from bulimia while she was dating director Woody Allen. Here`s what she writes in her new memoire, "then again, the demands of bulimia outshone the power of my desire for Woody, pathetic, but true."

Dian Keaton also opened up about eating a bucket of fried chicken, corn muffins orders, orders of French fries and whole pound of cake before purging. She writes in her book, "it`s just a trick you can do, it`s a horrible problem, ugly and awful."

Diane reveals that it was Woody Allen who helped get her through it by sending her to a psychoanalyst to help her cope with her eating disorder.

Richard, you battled eating disorders, yourself. When you hear a confession like this, what do you hope people who are struggling with their own weight issues take from this?

SIMMONS: If I told you how many letters I get a day from people who are throwing up, taking laxatives, bingeing and purging, it`s really big right now in Hollywood. I have a lot of very sick girls who come to my class who just want to get thinner and thinner and this is a good message for Diane and everyone to get out because it is so prevalent now today as it was in the `50s when I began bingeing and purging in New Orleans. Eating French fries and fried oyster potboys and going -- even going to the bathroom and throwing it up.

And if you knew how many men and women did that who are ravishing their body and being very unhealthy, you`d be very surprised, Carlos, because it is still big in Hollywood. I have to tell you, all over the country.

DIAZ: Richard, I thank you so much for sharing. I guess like I told you before, you`ve been an inspiration to me my entire life and so many people out there. I can`t thank you enough for coming in and talking to us today. I appreciate it so much.

SIMMONS: Read Diane`s book and leave the girls alone.

DIAZ: All right. Thank you so much, Richard. You`re an inspiration to so many people. I cannot wait to see what you`re wearing in your 63rd and 64th workout DVDs. I know the outfits and DVDs are going to be great, my friend.

And we`ll certainly be watching out for your new show on CMT based on the stories of people who sweat alongside you at your exercise studio, Slimmins in Beverly Hills.

Alright, new Kim Kardashian`s blog bombshells tonight. Kim K. reaches out to her fans two weeks after her controversial divorce. Kim finally resurfaces. Plus she announces she`s spending New Year`s Eve with hundreds of her closest friends and fans in Las Vegas. But is she really ready?

HASSELBECK: Do you draw the line ever? (Inaudible).

Alright, so Kim has been lying low, very low, since coming back from Australia after announcing she was divorcing Kris Humphries just after 72 days. But perhaps sensing her fans needed a Kim K. fix, here`s what Kim just blogged.

"I took a break from blogging for a while, but I missed you guys so much and wanted to start sharing my updates you all again. As always, my loyal blog dolls have been nothing but supportive. You know who you are, so thank you. I love you guys."

And I love you, too, Kim. Thank you.

OK. Here`s our showbiz flashpoint. Kim Kardashian, now blogging again. Is she surfacing too soon? Jeannie Mai, what do you think?

MAI: Look, regardless of what our o pinion is on Kim`s divorce, I think divorce sucks. To see this woman back in business literally going what she does best, being in front of the public, making money, so be it. I`m happy for her, and hey, she`s single. What better place to be single in Vegas, right? I`m happy for her.

DIAZ: I think she should lay low for a while. But we can agree to disagree. It wasn`t too long ago we saw her in tears before she jetted off to Minnesota to finally have a face to face with her jilted husband. Richard.

SIMMONS: Yes.

DIAZ: Shape us with your wisdom, oh great one. To our showbiz flashpoint, is Kim Kardashian surfacing too soon, my friend?

SIMMONS: I think that she needs some time to think about her life. She`s a very, very successful entrepreneur. She`s beautiful. She`s like the Elizabeth Taylor of our times.

DIAZ: Really?

SIMMONS: But I do think she needs to take a little break and go away and think about her life and plan what she wants for the rest of her life. She`s been married twice so far. And I would love to see Kim be happily married and have children and just live her life the way she wants.

She`s in a very hard place to be right now, but I think that she just needs to do some soul searching and some thinking and some time by herself because I think it`s time for her to heal before she decides to do all the other wonderful things with her family and her life.

DIAZ: Richard, we asked "SHOWBIZ Tonight`s" facebook fans today what they think about Kim`s comeback. And they couldn`t wait to chime in on this one.

Here`s what Sally E. wrote on our wall. "I think she should be in hiding until she comes up with a new victim for a husband."

SIMMONS: Carlos --

DIAZ: Diane S. had to say -- easy Richard -- she wrote on our facebook wall. "Why should she hide? People get divorced every day. She`s a strong woman and I admire her. You go for it."

Gee, what about that? Does Kim owe it to her fans to give them what they`ve come to expect from her?

MAI: No, she doesn`t owe anybody anything. But look, before Kim was married we knew her as a hardworking entrepreneur. When she was married she was still a hardworking entrepreneur. Why should it be different when she`s done? It shouldn`t be what we want to see her do. She`s a grown woman, made all the right decisions so far where she is right now. So, I don`t think she`s making the wrong decision to be out there where she likes to be, distracted and partying.

DIAZ: And Richard, I know you want to chat, though we got to go to another smoking and hot controversy.

SIMMONS: She gets two. Ding, ding. Fine.

DIAZ: You cannot ding in, my friend.

SIMMONS: I am door number one.

DIAZ: This is -- you`re door number shut real quick here, because we have a smoking controversy, and I do mean smoking. Rihanna, smoking today. We got our first look at Rihanna posing provocatively for her new single "talk that talk." She`s got cigarettes all lit up hanging from her mouth. Critics are saying the ad is irresponsible and going to glamorize smoking to her young fans. So Richard, are buying that?

SIMMONS: You know she plays a role when she does her videos. She doesn`t play Rihanna. She plays a role. And people have to know that. They smoke on lots of TV shows and many, many movies. I think they`re just giving her a tough time.

She`s playing a character that goes with the song and I think people should just let her go and do what she wants artistically. Every kid is not going to go, look at the cigarettes. I have to buy some Marlboros. I don`t think that`s the case.

I think, you know, sometimes in this industry, we`re not very kind to people and we pick up one little thing and we just run it into the ground. She`s an artist. She is a great singer. a great performer. And if this called for that, as she was performing a role, I just think you should let her alone.

DIAZ: And I got to agree. I mean Rihanna is not a parent. I mean she should be responsible for teaching -- she should not be responsible, in my opinion, for teaching other people`s children about the pitfalls of smoking. Jeannie, what do you think?

MAI: OK, so, as much as I love you, Richard, I disagree. I do believe that kids, young women, especially, who do look up to Rihanna, do look at her posing in whatever character he`s playing, sees the cigarette and thinks, oh my gosh, cigarettes are cool and will lead to making smoking something that`s an option for young women. I see that happening. At the same time, why are we surprised? She did a song called "S&M." She talks about her freakish sexual encounters. Why are we surprised to that smoky figure?

DIAZ: I agree. You know, she`s out there in that kind of way. By the way, if you have DVR, rewind and look at the look Richard gave Jeannie about 20 seconds ago. It`s classic. Richard Simmons, Jeannie Mai, thank you guys, so much.

DIAZ: Alright, moving on now. Elizabeth unleashed. Elizabeth Hasselbeck goes nuclear on Bill Maher this morning on the "view" after he pushes the envelope too far for her liking.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

HASSELBECK: I make it my job in profession. I sit with incredible comedians, the best in the business in terms of broadcasting. You can`t sit here right now and tell me I`m wrong for saying, that wasn`t that funny.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

DIAZ: Ambush or appropriate? You`ve got to see the latest epic "view" smack down that was a year in the making. That`s next.

This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN "news and views."

Now the showbiz news ticker. More stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom, making news tonight.

TEXT: Ann Kournik Ova leaving "The Biggest Loser" after one season.

TEXT: Peter Facinelli talks to showbiz about the bond between "Twi-hards."

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

PETER FACINELLI, ACTOR: All these people have come together for the love of these books and these movies, and I`m proud of this franchise because it does bring people together and, you know, to see the bond that they have with each other, it`s pretty cool.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

HASSELBECK: Would you say that again?

MAHER: You know what?

HASSELBECK: That same -- if you`re so supportive of women --

MAHER: If I knew I was coming here and had to spend my whole segment talking about it, no, I wouldn`t.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

DIAZ: Elizabeth Hasselbeck snaps this morning, moments after Bill Maher sits down on the "view." It`s the type of epic battle that we haven`t seen for a while on the show. But was Elizabeth justified or just rude?

This started when Bill went on the "view" this morning to promote his new book. Elizabeth had a bone to pick with the comedian after he made a jab at her last year. Elizabeth thought Bill`s joke was sexist and hurtful not just to her but women everywhere. The interview quickly left everyone feeling awkward. Watch.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

HASSELBECK: In February of last year, Laura Logan, as you recall, was in Egypt and brutally attacked by a mob there. She came back and said their hands raping over and over again, tearing my body in every direction, trying to tear off chunks of my skull, I was in doubt in the process of dying.

Now, prior to her coming back though, you said on your show, now that mu bar irk released Laura Logan, she must put her intrepid hotness on a plane immediately, in exchange we`ll send Elizabeth Hasselbeck.

Now, that`s fine if you want to laugh. But I make it my job in profession. I sit with professional comedians and the best in the business in terms of broadcasting. You can`t sit here right now and tell me I`m wrong to say that wasn`t that funny.

MAHER: Well, we do a comedy show for an audience that`s perhaps -- thank you very much -- perhaps different than your audience. And you know, I mean you are a public figure. It was not aimed at you personally, but when you are a public figure, you`re out there and you`re fodder for comedians to make comments on.

HASSELBECK: Do you draw the line ever? So there`s nothing that says that was a little off?

MAHER: I do draw the line but I also live on the line. You know I do a different kind of show. I`m an HBO. That`s my stock and crazy.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

DIAZ: You know, I really can see both sides of this, but I`m just glad no one went storming off the set after that spat.

All right. Coming up, from the "D" list to x-rated. Tonight you won`t believe which star recreated Janet Jackson`s iconic topless "rolling stone cover" and even more shocking, the nearly naked star just turned 51 last week. The big reveal coming up next.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

DIAZ: Did you see this? Kathy Griffin lets it all hang out. Our favorite "D" lister just turned 51 years old. And as a present to all of us, Kathy decided to get naked. She`s channeling her inner Janet Jackson to show off her body on the cover of `Out" magazine. Kathy is topless spoofing Janet Jackson`s Miss 1993 "rolling stones" cover and. She got a couple of helping hand from Modern family`s (inaudible) to pull off the raise.

Somehow if you forgot what the original picture looked like, there`s Janet`s cover on the right nearly 20 years ago. The picture is still totally hot. But, 20 years ago? Man, I`m old.

OK. "Out" magazine featuring the 17th annual out 100 List is on sale now.

That`s "SHOWBIZ TONIGHT." I`m Carlos Diaz. You can catch SHOWBIZ TONIGHT exclusively, Sunday to Friday at 11:00 p.m. Eastern and Pacific right here on HLN.

"DR. DREW" is next. Tonight, Doctor asked, why didn`t anyone intervene before the Penn State sex abuse scandal erupted? "DR. DREW" starts right now.
