VELEZ-MITCHELL: Tonight, breaking news in the disappearance of that missing Tucson first grader five days after Isabel Celis vanished. Her parents finally speak out and they break down in tears.

Their adorable 6-year-old daughter was last seen Friday night. She disappeared from her own bedroom. Here they are just a little while ago making a very emotional plea to the public.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SERGIO CELIS, ISABEL`S FATHER: We`re looking for you, Isa. We love you and we miss you so much and we will never give up. We will never give up looking for you.

BECKY CELIS, ISABEL`S MOTHER: We don`t want the focus to be taken off Isabel by us being in front of the cameras or by the media. We are here today to plea for a safe return of our baby girl Isabel.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: People were wondering why Isabel`s parents haven`t spoken to the public before. Cops say the mother and father had been questioned separately and at length and they were prevented from going back to the home until just yesterday.

All this as new reports just surfacing that surveillance cameras pointing directly at the Celis` home may hold the answer to what happened that night, the night that Isabel disappeared.

Did they see anything? Was there any movement?

We`re taking your calls. What do you think about the parents` statement today? Call me 1877-jvm-says. 1877-586-7297.

Straight out to HLN`s Natisha Lance, producer from Nancy Grace on the ground in Tucson. You were at the news conference.

Natisha, they seem to be appealing to kidnappers asking what are your demands. Are they implying that they know something we don`t?

NATISHA LANCE, NANCY GRACE PRODUCER: You know, Jane, that`s a big question and we don`t know that the point, but it did appear as if they were appealing to whomever may have their daughter and that they believe she is in the hands of a kidnapper.

It was a very emotional plea seeing the parents out here for the first time today and actually we were speaking to a friend of the family earlier today who was supposed to do a taping with us this afternoon for "Nancy Grace" and he received a phone call from Sergio, the father of Isabel where he said don`t make any statements because we`re going to be coming out and speaking today and that`s what we saw this afternoon.

Very emotional parents and not only the parents who are emotional and also, you can see behind me, there`s a tent with a group of people. These folks have been volunteers. They are friends of the family and they have been out here every day seeking donations, as well as distributing flyers for Isabel and they were behind the family also shedding tears, simply very emotional, Jane.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: And I was hoping they would stop and answer some questions because we have so many questions. We want to know, for example, what about the screen that was supposedly removed from a window in the house? Was that specifically at the little girl`s bedroom? What about police saying the dog hit on something at or near the house? Where exactly?

We have so many unanswered questions and this is the first time we`re hearing from missing Isabel Celis` parents. Her mom says they don`t want the focus to be on them. They want it to be on their daughter.

Isabel`s dad, the person who discovered the child was missing spoke about their involvement in this case a short time ago.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SERGIO CELIS: We are cooperating to the fullest extent with the investigation. We are increasing the reward. Just please, please, to the person or persons who have Isabel, tell us your demands. Tell us what you want. We will do anything for her.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: I want to do a round robin of our experts as we look at video of what went down today and ask them what they make of this father`s demeanor.

Wendy Murphy, former professor of law at New England law Boston. I was very viscerally responsive to the mother. She looked down, but to read notes and then she looked up. The dad -- this is just my gut reaction. I have absolutely no proof of anything. He is not a suspect, but he struck me as a tad theatrical and he looked down a lot.

WENDY MURPHY, FORMER PROSECUTOR: Yes. You know, look, if you want to make judgments about these people based on how they present, lots of us would say they didn`t exactly present as entirely innocent. It doesn`t mean they`ve done something harmful, but it indicated to me that they probably know more than we`ve heard from them directly.

Here`s what I think is suspicious about the parents and again, it may be nothing. Why two search warrants? Why did cops have to get two search warrants in addition to the fact that there were two dogs in there, one sniffing for a cadaver odor and one sniffing for tracks, tracks of the potential lights out. Why did they have to get two separate search warrants? Why didn`t the parents say come into our home and do whatever you want whenever you want? Search anything, anywhere, any time. The facts that the cop his to get search warrants indicates to me that the parents didn`t let them in and that is not a good sign.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Actually, that may not be the case because I spoke with the police chief and I asked him that very question and he said we preferred to do it by the book and cross our is and dot our I`s and cross our T`s -- whatever.

But now, here`s a breaking news development. There are published reports suggesting the answer to this entire mystery may lie in surveillance video from neighboring houses and shops. ABC News is reporting tonight that one camera, one surveillance camera is attached to a home just 75 yards away and points directly at the Celis` home. Other cameras are attached to nearby businesses.

So I want to bring in James Copenhaver, retired major case investigator out of Orlando, Florida. Oh, my God, if there was a video surveillance camera trained on this home the entire night, what are the implications there, sir?

JAMES COPENHAVER, RETIRED MAJOR CASE INVESTIGATOR: Jane, that would be huge. I mean, just think if you had a video trained on that area or the window or area and the home of that house and it`s captured on video and you actually see someone abducting this child it would be a huge break in the case.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Absolutely. And then, let`s add another wrinkle. Several of the Celis` dogs were reportedly in or around the home that night. Let`s listen to what a neighbor told ABC`s "GOOD MORNING AMERICA" and then you`ll hear about what the police chief said about that night and the dogs.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE REPORTER: You`re saying you can`t walk up to their house without the dogs barking like crazy.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: If they are outside, yes.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Did neighbors hear anything in the middle of the night?

CHIEF ROBERTO VILLASENOR, TUCSON POLICE DEPARTMENT: I don`t want to comment on that. We do have some information, but that`s something I don`t want to put forward yet.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: All right. Jon Lieberman, investigative reporter. I would think if you have surveillance video and then depending on what happened with the dogs if they barked or not, you`ve got a lot of information there.

JON LIEBERMAN, INVESTIGATIVE REPORTER: Well, absolutely. There are a lot of new tidbits tonight, Jane. One is that police apparently passed out questionnaires to the neighbors asking, did anybody have a camera? Where were the surveillance cameras? Who was this little girl normally seen with? That`s number one.

The second thing is we learned late last night police refreshed that search warrant for the home and they went back into the home with the FBI`s special behavioral analysis unit so they`re still very much trained on that home and the police also made it a point to say that they are not necessarily stating that the point of entry was that open window.

They`re leaving it open, and one more thing as to the parent`s statement. One thing that we don`t know which is very important is this, were the parents advised what to say by local or federal law enforcement? Many times law enforcement will give certain messages that they would like to get out through the parents when they make an impassioned plea like this. I don`t believe that law enforcement was involved in this state, but it`s something we have to find out.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Let`s go to the phone lines. Whitney, Tennessee. Your question or thought, Whitney?

WHITNEY, CALLER, TENNESSEE: Jane, I was wondering have they questioned the brothers and what are the ages of the brothers and could there be any of the friends of the brothers involved in any of this?

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Great question. Natisha Lance, HLN producer. The children.

LANCE: That is a question that I asked the chief today, Jane, and yes, the siblings of Isabel have been questioned. They`re 10 years old and 14 years old. They didn`t mention how many times they were questioned. But they also were ask if the FBI has questioned anybody in the family and at this point they said no.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: All right. We`re taking your calls on this. 1877-jvm- says, and I`ve got to tell you we`re also going ask about Madeleine McCann. Is she still alive? Scotland yard thinks she may be ands they`ve got new leads. We are going to tell you about that in a second.

Plus, an exclusive search for a missing soldier. I`m going to talk to Kelli Bordeaux`s husband.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I don`t think she sent that text. I don`t know that. I have no idea, but in my heart, I don`t think she sent that.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Despite countless tips and a re-canvass of the area, still no sign of Isabel and the clock continues to tick.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: We are all mothers. We are the closest family in the pediatric E.R. We are devastated by this. We`re all putting ourselves in her shoes. She hasn`t been allowed to look for her daughter.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: All right. We`re going to review the timeline of what happened to Isabel in the hours before she was reported missing.

Isabel was put to bed at 11:00 Friday night. Then at 7:30 the next morning her mother leaves for work. She`s a nurse. Then just a half an hour later, the dad who happens to be a dental technician discovers that she`s missing. He`s still at home and it`s a Saturday morning. Police still haven`t said who put Isabel to bed Friday night, her mom or her dad. That would be significant right, because if the dad put her to bed Friday night and the dad finds her missing then her mom hasn`t seen her for maybe a long time.

Now, we don`t know whether mom checked on Isabel at 7:30 the next morning before leaving for work as a nurse at a local hospital.

I`ve got to ask you, Wendy Murphy, what does it is a when cops give some details? I mean, we`ve gotten some details, but then, of course, we have follow-up questions and then they refuse to answer those. Why do they leave those critical details out?

MURPHY: Yes. Well, you know, it`s such a good question because to some extent, and I think we all know this. Cops will use the media to help crack the case and sometimes it`s a subtle approach because they don`t want the bad guys knowing what they`re doing. So, they leak just enough and sometimes in very indirect ways in the hopes that it smokes somebody out.

You know, I think one of the questions we have to ask here is whether the parents do have a sense about what happened and the cops do, too. For example, pure speculation, what if the parent his some kind of drug debt, right?

You know, the number of cases that we`ve covered in this program of little kids going missing in the middle of the night and before you know it, we hear there was some kind of drug involvement.

Look, people who are interested in making up, you know, getting their debt paid like the drug dealers, they`ll take the kid as a payment and they don`t call and let you know they`re coming so we have to provide for all these kinds of really scary, potential explanations and we should ask questions. Did the parents have a drug problem and were they in debt. Were they in debt? Is that what went on here, and I think I would like to ask that of these parents.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: OK. Isabel`s mom, by the way, is a nurse at a local hospital. Her father, again, a dental hygienist. They seem like boring people. Police say they are not as suspect at this point. A friend says there is no way they`re involved.

That was not a possibility if you knew this family. These two have been married, they`ve been together since they were teenagers. There`s no separation going on and there`s just no possible way that the family would have anything to do with this. Listen to this friend.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MARY LITTLEHORN, WORKS WITH MISSING GIRL`S MOM: That`s just not a possibility. If you knew this family, these two have - they have been married, they have been together since they were teenagers. There`s no separation going on. There`s just no possible way that the family would have anything to do with this.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: So, James Copenhaver, retired major case investigator. They have no criminal record. They have no criminal history. No history of cops being called to the house. No history department children family services, no marital discord and nevertheless, the cops say there was a hit by a police dog somewhere in or near the house.

COPENHAVER: Jane, that`s all fine and good and we hope that the parents had nothing to do with this. My concern as a former investigator and private investigator is the fact that the mother who left home at 7:30 that morning didn`t go in and check on the child. You would think she`s a nurse, dad`s a dental hygienist, you have peering folks and plus, the mother involved, you would think that she would have checked on the child before she left.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: All right. I want to play the sound again from today`s news conference. Let`s listen in, everybody, an analysis. Check it out.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SERGIO CELIS: We`re looking for you, Isa. We love you and we miss you so much and we will never give up. We will never give up looking for you.

BECKY CELIS: We don`t want the focus to be taken off Isabel by us being in front of the cameras or by the media. We are here today to plea for a safe return of our baby girl Isabel.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Jon Lieberman, your analysis.

LIEBERMAN: Well, it`s hard to criticize, you know, parents in their biggest time of distress and need. So, obviously, it`s not right at this point to criticize them. One thing that stuck out to me was that they didn`t take any questions and there are so many questions. But I can tell you this --

VELEZ-MITCHELL: More on the other side.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: More big news in a second, but first, here`s your "viral video of the day."

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Are you serious?

(END VIDEO CLIP)

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Investigators in Britain think there is a chance that Madeleine McCann is still alive.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: They want the Portuguese police to reopen the investigation.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We continue to hope for the best possible outcome from this, for us and for Madeleine.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: They just released a new picture of what she might look like. An age progression shot.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The British police say they found 200 leads within all of this.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Detectives have been examining the area around the apartment where Madeleine disappeared.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I want to say thank you. Please continue to pray for Madeleine.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Those poor parents, but tonight, incredible news that British authorities believe Madeleine McCann the little girl who vanished while on vacation with her parents in Portugal five years ago could be alive.

Here`s a look at 3-year-old Madeleine and the way she looked when she vanished and on the right is a brand new age progression photo of Madeleine who would now be almost 9-years-old. Scotland yard wants Portuguese police to reopen this case.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE REPORTER: For a year, 37 officers have been piling through 100,000 pieces of paper with 40,000 pieces of information in it. They`ve got a quarter of the way through that and they say there is a chance she could be alive.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Hundreds of leads, new leads. Straight out to investigative reporter Jon Lieberman, Howard 100 news Sirius XM. You covered this story for "America`s most wanted." you went to Portugal. What`s your analysis of today`s developments.

LIEBERMAN: You know, I got to tell you, Jane. It makes me think of a conversation I had with little Maddie`s aunt in 2007 and the aunt said, John, they have to stop looking at Maddie`s parents as suspects and start looking for Maddie because we feel she`s alive and those feelings were very much validated today from the Scotland yard investigators.

Here`s the deal here. What these investigators did was they put together information from three different places. From the Portugal authorities and from the UK authorities and also from private detectives hired by the McCann`s. And they were focused in on three specific areas and it`s very important, Jane.

Number one, cell phone activity in the area that night when Maddie went missing. Number two, anybody staying at that resort at that time, they went back and started to re-examine who was there, how long they were there and they`re trying to identify them and re-interview them.

And number three, they went back and started looking again at records of who worked at this resort and more importantly the background of the people who worked at the resort including if anybody had ever lost a child.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Madeleine know vanished from a family`s vacation apartment in May 3rd, 2007. Four days later her mother was pleading and begging for her return. Listen.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

KATE MCCANN, MOTHER OT MADELEINE MCCANN: Please, please do not hurt her. Please don`t scare her. Please tell us where to find her or put her in a place of safety and let somebody know where she is. We beg you to let Madeleine come home.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Let`s see where Madeleine`s parents and their friends were dining tonight, Madeleine vanished from her room. We have mark the bar restaurant at the bottom center of this photo. And then, upper right corner you see the orange circle and that`s the location of the McCann`s apartment. The distance just 131 yards.

This is what I don`t get. Jon Lieberman, people had pointed to the parents. They were having dinner with friends and it was a friend of theirs who went in there to check who discovered the child missing. How would they have any opportunity to do anything? Why weren`t they discounted long ago?

LIEBERMAN: Well, was there always that theory that perhaps they may have drugged Maddie to try and get her to sleep. That was in the very beginning --

VELEZ-MITCHELL: I say nonsense!

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: We`re getting word that a Fort Bragg soldier is missing.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: My sister is missing. She is -- she is the most amazing person.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: An army official says Bordeaux sent a text message that said "Got home safely", but her family doesn`t think she ever made it home.

MATT HENSON, BROTHER OF KELLI BORDEAUX: She never made it back to the apartment and nobody thinks that the last text message that came from her home is from her.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: They were having some marital problems but the person that drove her home wasn`t, you know, any kind of person to her. I think he was just a friend of hers.

NICHOLAS HOLBERT, ONE OF LAST PEOPLE TO SEE KELLI BORDEAUX: They took everything out of it and took pictures and fingerprinted the whole outside.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I don`t think she sent that text, no. I don`t know that.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Tonight, new questions raised about the mysterious disappearance of Private First Class Kelli Bordeaux. In moments I will be speaking exclusively to Kelli`s husband breaking his silence right here tonight on this show.

Kelli last seen ten days ago and her family questioning even the basics of the story they`d been given especially since two key witnesses have been arrested on unrelated charges. At the center of this mystery two text messages sent from Kelli`s phone after her disappearance. One text says "got home safely" but Kelli`s brother told me he doesn`t think Kelli sent it.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

HENSON: We just haven`t found anything, you know, since this all began. We really just don`t have anything to go on.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Did they find her cell phone?

HENSON: No, ma`am. I really honestly don`t think that -- I mean she never made it back to the apartment and nobody thinks that the last text message that came from her phone is from her.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Now this man that you`re about to see, Nicholas Holbert, convicted sex offender claims he gave Kelli a ride home from the bar before she vanished. But he was then taken into custody for failing to register as a sex offender. Police call him a person of information and they`re clearly investigating. Listen to this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

HOLBERT: The investigator told me that they found a white plastic bag with khaki shorts and a t-shirt and there was blood on it. And he asked me if it was going to come back as mine, I told him no.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Did you kill her?

HOLBERT: I did not.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Did you have anything to do with her disappearance?

HOLBERT: I have nothing to do with it. I picked her up and took her home that night, that`s it.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: But were there witnesses who saw Kelli and Nicholas Holbert actually leave the bar and get into a car? How do we know he didn`t lead her around back to his lean-to? He lives behind the bar in a lean-to.

Police have told us, "We`ve been interviewing people who were at the bar that night -- the night Kelli was there. They`re not saying anything else.

Straight out to Mike Bordeaux, Kelli`s husband who is on the phone from Fayetteville, North Carolina; Mike, thank you for being here. I know -- my heart goes out to you, and I know this has got to be -- we have a picture of you and your beautiful wife kissing and you`re in a tuxedo and she`s in uniform. You`re a beautiful couple.

It`s really sad that we have to be talking to you about this, but we want to be helpful and we want to help find her. Where were you when you found out that your wife was missing and how did you find out, Mike?

MIKE BORDEAUX, HUSBAND OF KELLI BORDEAUX (via telephone): I was actually in Kissimmee, Florida. I was staying at my dad`s house. I was out visiting them, my dad and my stepmom for a little while.

And I got the phone call Monday around 11:30 from my apartment manager and Kelli`s lieutenant was here and they were wondering why or if I knew where Kelli was, and I said no. She should be at work, and, you know, I`m thinking it`s l1:30 so why hasn`t she shown up for work. So they asked me if they can go in the apartment and I said for sure, you have my approval to go into the apartment and check and see if she was ok, you know.

Maybe she missed her alarm or something. So I just let them walk in the house and they said she wasn`t there. So my first reaction was what happened? Why isn`t she at work? She`s a very responsible person and she would not just miss work or not even call in. She would call her sergeant to tell him, "Hey, I`m not going to be able to make it into work today."

Of course, after I got that news I called her sister to see if she heard anything and she didn`t hear anything. So I then called her sergeant which is one of her friends and they said the same thing that she didn`t show up to work last night or today.

And so I was kind of worried at the time, you know, because I wasn`t there, so I didn`t know what was going on. But probably, like, a couple of hours after that they told me they`re going to file a missing persons report so, you know, I packed my bags in the truck I just bought and I headed up here.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Let me ask you this question. First of all -- bottom line, and we`re also on with Kelli`s brother and we`ll talk to him in a second. What`s your theory of what happened, Mike?

BORDEAU: To be honest with you, this guy Nick says he dropped her off at home, and from my point of view -- my point of view is if she was dropped off in front of this complex she would have made it home. I bet you she would have and in my opinion I don`t think that guy brought her home.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: All right. And I want to bring in Matt Henson -- if you`d stand by, don`t hang up, Mike Bordeaux, missing soldier`s husband, please hang on. But we`re going to go to Matt Henson the missing soldier`s brother, who joined us last night. And thank you for coming back, Matt.

I want to ask you, what is your theory of the case? What do you think happened to your sister?

HENSON (via telephone): I mean, actually the same thing. Honestly any logical person -- there`s no way that she was dropped off because if you would have looked at the apartment and it was just as if you would have left it. Like I said yesterday, it looked exactly, exactly the same.

You know, nobody I mean nobody thinks she was dropped off here. It`s just a fabricated -- you know, to kind of qualify his answer.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, what do you think happened?

HENSON: Honestly, I don`t know. I don`t want to speculate. I`m just focused on bringing her back and hoping that this search tomorrow really brings us some good news.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Absolutely. I want to hear more from this convicted sex offender who claims he dropped Kelli off and they also arrested the owner of the bar on completely unrelated charges, but this Nick guy is possibly the last person to see Kelli. Here is his explanation of what happened the night she vanished.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

HOLBERT: Around 1:00, 1:30 she told me "I`m tired, I want to go home." I said ok. So we got in the car and as soon as I pulled into Meadowbrook she said you can stop right here, you can let me out. I`ll walk.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: All right. Since Kelli disappeared ten days ago -- we`re going to give you the timeline. She disappeared at 1:20 in the morning. That was the last time she was seen. She wasn`t reported missing until two days later when she didn`t show up for duty at Fort Bragg. You just heard that.

So here`s my concern, and I`ll go back to Mike Bordeaux who we`re speaking to exclusively -- this is the missing soldier`s husband. There`s more than 48 hours between when she was last seen and when she was reported missing and the problem with that is somebody could have driven 1,000 miles in that time and come back to Fayetteville.

So do you have -- have police told you where Nicholas Holbert was, let`s say, that day Saturday or that day Sunday?

BORDEAUX: Was I aware that he was with her?

VELEZ-MITCHELL: No, I`m saying, in other words, from the time she disappeared to the time she was reported missing it`s more than 48 hours. That gives anybody who took her tremendous leeway to get away.

So given that this is the guy who was last seen, Nicholas Holbert, has anybody heard either Mike or Matt from law enforcement as to what he was doing after he claims he dropped her off for the next couple of days?

BORDEAUX: No. I mean, we haven`t heard anything. I mean, supposedly he was the last one to see her, you know? The last time I even talked to her was Friday afternoon and you know, we were just talking and texting and everything was fine, and I just let her go for the rest of the day because, you know. She has friends and she does things and I was in Florida visiting my parents so I didn`t think anything of it.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Mike, let me ask you this question. Have you ever been to the Froggy Bottoms; it`s the bar near the apartment complex where - -

BORDEAUX: Yes. I know it`s the bar. I`ve never been there. Me and Kelli never went together. We didn`t even go to bars to together. I mean the closest bar we would ever go to is Buffalo Wild Wings. And we don`t even drink beer; we`ll just have a couple of wings and you know, take home -- take the rest home.

And we`ve never been to Froggy Bottoms together. I`ve never been by myself. I don`t know this Nick guy.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, let me ask you this and I`m not asking you this to put you on the spot. Were there any issues in your marriage -- in other words, we`re just saying this to try to find her. Is there any reason why she may have gone to this bar? Could there be another person involved?

BORDEAUX: I have no clue. I mean, the only friends that I know are mine and her friends. I don`t know of any other friends that she might have made in the past couple of weeks, you know? I mean I don`t want to -- I don`t want to speculate --

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Of course not.

BORDEAUX: -- but I really don`t know of anyone else that she could have been hanging out with at that time.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Matt Henson, have police told you whether they have searched that lean-to where this Nick guy lives behind the bar for fingerprints of Kelli`s or any kind of DNA?

HENSON: Yes, they`ve been -- I mean all over behind the bar. I mean, really thorough, multiple searches -- I mean back around the bar in that area. They just haven`t turned up anything, you know, to lead us -- you know, to really give us any progress.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: All right. Thank you both. Our hearts go out to you. We`ll be right back.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: A lot of people say it`s too expensive to eat organic and I say nonsense. Exhibit A, this cabbage $1.49 a pound and I will top that with this green cabbage which is only 79 cents a pound.

Now take a look at these potatoes. These are $1.39 a pound. These over here are -- what do I have here -- $1.19 a pound. Now, this vegetable, ok -- very, very inexpensive and I tell you, it`s filling. You can eat this stuff for a week.

Yes, you can eat healthy. You can eat veggies and you can eat organic and you can save money doing it.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: A third of the 21,000 dogs in Dallas animal shelters are pit bulls or pit bull mixes and that`s because of two reasons. One, people are breeding them to make a lazy buck; or two, people are too lazy and too cheap to get their dogs spayed and neutered. How about proposing a ban on the breeding of all pit bulls and all other animals for profit? How about requiring dogs to be spayed and neutered? That`s the real problem.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Singer Chris Brown in the middle of yet another controversy -- this time he`s selling pit bull puppies online. Like he needs the money? Millions of dogs and cats put to sleep every year because they can`t find a good home.

Now critics say this kind of operation`s to blame. Take a look at this. CB Breeds Web site -- Chris Brown selling pit bull pups for $1,000 each. A rep for Chris Brown tells us this is not a business that dogs living on the farm had puppies. The website called CB Breeds is leaving us with a lot of questions.

Straight out to Carol Davis, director for the Companion Animal Protection Society; what say you, Carol?

CAROL DAVIS, DIRECTOR, COMPANION ANIMAL PROTECTION SOCIETY: I did -- hi, Jane -- I did a search today on Pet Finder for pit bulls and found out that there were over 19,000 pit bulls in danger of being killed in the shelter system just today. A dog like this -- this is just one of the 19,000 dogs that I found today online in danger of being killed.

Why is Chris Brown breeding dogs? It`s highly unconscionable. I think it might even be illegal. I don`t know if he has a breeder`s license. I`d like to know. If he does have a breeder`s license that means that he might be under an inspection program in the state of Virginia and I would like to see a copy of the inspection report of that breeding operation.

I think this was really wrong --

VELEZ-MITCHELL: A rep of Chris Brown confirmed the site is Chris` and he says, quote, "Chris loves animals, particularly dogs and has for a long time and had some pet dogs at his family`s home in Virginia with his mom. The dogs had a litter and the family is trying to find them good homes. This is not a business venture."

Here`s my problem with that statement, Alexis Tereszcuk, senior reporter RadarOnline. If he loves animals, first of all, he should have all the animals spayed and neutered so they don`t have pit bulls. I mean literally, we have something like 5 million dogs and cats killed in this country every year. And pit bull, oh, my gosh, you just heard there are so many pit bulls that are put down because they can`t find homes.

So he should have spayed and neutered the animal and then selling them for $1,000 each. Is that the way you find good owners? Don`t you just look for owners? The idea of him selling them disturbs me.

ALEXIS TERESZCUK, SENIOR REPORTER, RADARONLINE: And it`s a Web site called CBBreeds -- Chris Brown breeds. To me the word breeds means you`re breeding dogs so I`m not really sure how you can`t say he`s not breeding them, just selling. Maybe he`s thinking that the $1,000 -- $1,000 that he`s charging per puppy and even though they`re about the cutest dogs I`ve ever seen, that`s a lot of money. Maybe this will ensure that he gets really good, serious owners and that people aren`t just going to take these free and do something terrible.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: You know what, people who would pay $1,000 for a dog are frankly not so bright because there are dogs in shelters that are being put down every day. You can go to any shelter in America and there are tons of pit bulls that you can find that are being killed all over the place because places have abandoned them.

Here`s the other thing, Chris Brown, why is he getting involved in another controversy. We all remember the controversy involving Rihanna, and we all know about the bruises and the bloody mug shot that Rihanna had after being beaten up by Chris Brown. I mean why -- Alexis, quickly -- is he getting involved with this controversy?

TERESZCUK: Because Chris Brown can never stay away from controversy. It`s a narcissism maybe -- and I`m not a doctor, I don`t have a diagnosis - - but he wants attention all the time and this is just another way to get it.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: All right. Carol Davis, final word.

Davis: Ok. I think that this is just absolutely reprehensible behavior and I wouldn`t leave my dog with Chris Brown for an hour. I don`t understand why he`s breeding dogs when we`re killing 5 million companion animals in our nation`s shelter system. This is wrong. Why isn`t his litter -- why aren`t his dogs sterilized? This is just really bad behavior.

And I think that because he has anger management issues, what is he doing around dogs to begin with?

VELEZ-MITCHELL: More in a minute.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: More big news in a moment. But first, I think we all deserve a little laugh break.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The case of mad cow disease has been confirmed.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: The fourth cow in the entire nation to test positive for mad cow disease.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Authorities are looking into a case of mad cow disease here in the United States.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: No one has ever eaten meat from this country and gotten mad cow disease.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I`m really questioning if we should eat this right now.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Tonight, how safe is our food? New fears and concerns after the carcass of a dairy cow in California tested positive for mad cow disease. The government insists this is an isolated incident and there`s nothing wrong with the beef.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

DR. JOHN CLIFFORD, USDA CHIEF VETERINARY OFFICER: This particular animal did not enter the food supply at any time so there is no concern about that.

TOM VILSACK, AGRICULTURE SECRETARY: We`ve taken steps since 2004 to assure that the types of products from animals that could potentially be the cause of mad cow disease in humans are not in the food system to begin with. I am going home and I`m having a steak tonight for dinner.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: How can the USDA be so sure it`s isolated to one cow? It tests about 40,000 out of 36 million cattle slaughtered every year. Here is what one food safety expert told ABC.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SARAH KLEIN, FOOD SAFETY EXPERT: The USDA has not completed their investigation of this particular case. And so we`ll be watching carefully to see what they find. Obviously if it turns out that we have tainted feed, we will have a much larger problem on our hands.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Out to Susan Levin, nutrition education director for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. Do you have concerns about our food safety, Susan?

SUSAN LEVIN, PHYSICIANS COMMITTEE FOR RESPONSIBLE MEDICINE: Yes, absolutely. This patting ourselves on the back is a little disturbing to me. If you`re only checking less than 0.1 percent of the slaughtered cattle for this particular disease, mad cow disease, that`s obviously not enough. So I don`t think that we should be so confident and self- congratulatory about this.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: In 2008 outrageous undercover footage from the Hallmark Slaughterhouse led to the biggest meat recall in U.S. history -- 143 million pounds of so called Downer (ph) cows that are not supposed to be in the food supply because they`re sick. This Humane Society video shows workers shoving and dragging these animals with forklifts, zapping them with cattle prods, fitting them with hoses, et cetera just to get them to stand up long enough to be deemed mobile, therefore, safe for slaughter.

So my question, Susan, how can we trust the USDA? USDA inspectors were there when all of this was going on. They didn`t report it. It took an undercover investigation. This was going on and now we`re being told to trust the government.

LEVIN: Yes, well, I don`t think we have to trust the government. I think we have to hold them accountable for what they`re supposed to be doing, keeping the food supply safe and to be a little bit compassionate here. I have to say, we eat over a million animals every hour. That is an excessive amount of animals, and you can imagine that there`s no way to check the safety of every single animal out there.

So the problem is obviously much bigger. The animals on farms are riddled with pathogens whether it be mad cow disease, salmonella, (inaudible) take your pick.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Yes, but this is only, my understanding producers, the fourth case found in the United States. We want to be -- the U.S. has four confirmed cases.

Listen, on the other side we`re going to talk about the pink slime. We`ve covered this controversy recently, all this pink slime, right. Thousands of animal parts melded together. How could you possibly trace where any of that meat is coming from, and isn`t that a huge concern?

On the other side.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: And we are looking at what they call pink slime, the manufacture of pink slime which is many different animal parts melded together where you certainly can`t trace where any of this comes from, what animal, and you have to wonder if that`s a concern given this discovery of mad cow disease in a dead dairy cow in California. Susan, what do you think the government should do?

LEVIN: Well, it would be great if the government would step up and check more of the animals that we are consuming. But I would really like them to see and promote the eating of more vegetables, fruits, beans and grains because what`s really going to kill us is the fat and the cholesterol and the lack of nutrients that you find in meat products.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: And I would personally like to see more humane treatment of the animals on factory farms. This is not video of factory farms. They do not get to run around. Ok? We need to start treating these animals better so they don`t become sick.

"NANCY GRACE" next.
