Aired May 24, 2012 - 23:00   ET

THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

AJ HAMMER, HLN HOST: Hello, I`m AJ Hammer in New York.

Tonight`s dumb and dumber. Brand new outrage over the idiot who put a baby in a washing machine. The mother speaks out.

Plus the alleged iPhone thief from Disney`s cruise line. He took pictures of himself with the phone and they ended up on the victim`s Facebook page. Uh, duh.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Also tonight, two incredible SHOWBIZ newsmakers. Lisa Marie Presley takes a bold stand on body image.

LISA MARIE PRESLEY, ELVIS PRESLEY`S DAUGHTER: When that became OK to go after people for gaining weight for being pregnant, I don`t know.

HAMMER: Lisa Marie was slammed for gaining weight during her pregnancy. Tonight she defends all women in a headline making SHOWBIZ newsmaker interview.

Plus, Dina Eastwood reveals the secrets of her marriage to Hollywood legend, Clint Eastwood. Dina`s candid confessions about their 35-year age difference. It`s a remarkably personal SHOWBIZ newsmaker interview with Dina Eastwood.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Hello. I am AJ Hammer. And talk about dumb and dumber.

Tonight, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT brings you two, yes, two mind-boggling stories of just sheer stupidity. Like the guy who just got caught with a stolen iPhone, whose adventures were chronicled on Facebook. Then, again, that`s probably not as dumb as the guy who thought it would be fun to put a 1- year-old kid in a washing machine and then watch as he couldn`t get the kid out.

Well, there`s actually a startling new development tonight. Absolute outrage after prosecutors said they are not going to file criminal charges.

We`ll get to that in just a moment. But first, allow me to offer a word of warning to all potential iPhone thieves out there. Don`t think it won`t be tracked, because there`s an app for that.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER (voice-over): Forget "Pirates of the Caribbean," this is a true Disney adventure on the high seas, featuring an intrepid heroine with a Facebook page. A missing iPhone, an unsuspecting cruise ship employee, and a parrot.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Now that`s the ultimate revenge.

HAMMER: One woman has become a TV and Internet sensation for her revenge against a Disney cruise crew member she accused of taking possession of her missing iPhone. Katy McCaffrey says she was vacationing on board the Disney "Wonder" in April when she says her iPhone was stolen, but her iPhone was set to automatically upload all photos to her personal online account.

KIM SERAFIN, IN TOUCH WEEKLY: So all the pictures that this person was taking were appearing in her iCloud account. So she had full view of everything that was being taken, all these photos.

HAMMER: It`s what Katie McCaffrey did with the photos that made her famous.

SERAFIN: She decided to upload them to her Facebook page.

HAMMER: She created a humorous Facebook album, titled "Stolen iPhone Adventures," where she posted the pics that were uploaded from her missing iPhone. There album features the Disney cruise employee McCaffrey said had the iPhone. There are pics of relaxing Disney crew members, ocean sunsets, even an unidentified parrot. All apparently taken with her missing iPhone.

SERAFIN: So she opened up her Facebook account, let people see these photos, and said, feel free to share them, and share they did.

HAMMER: Her Facebook album has been posted more than 14,000 times.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: One woman took Facebook revenge after her iPhone was stolen during a cruise.

HAMMER: McCaffrey`s story quickly went viral with a mention on the "Today" show and stories in "USA Today" and "New York" magazine. This is one Disney story that`s really struck a chord.

SERAFIN: I think everyone can say, well, maybe if this happens to me, I will do the same thing, and I will catch the person who has my iPhone, and save myself a lot of money.

HAMMER: Disney Cruise Line tells NBC they have the missing iPhone and an employee is on administrative leave while they investigate. And Katy is expected to get her phone back once the ship returns to port. It`s an ending fit for Disney.

SERAFIN: It all worked out. There is a happy ending. Fairy tales do come true.

HAMMER: Of course, no one knows for certain if the employee Katy McCaffrey identified actually did anything wrong. This could all be one big goofy misunderstanding.

But one with thing we do all understand, you shouldn`t mess with iPhone owners, because when it comes to getting revenge, there`s an app for that.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: Well, late today we received this statement from the Disney Cruise Line. They said, "We take matters of this nature very seriously. We have placed the employee in question on administrative leave and restricted him from guest areas while we investigate this case. We have a zero tolerance policy for this type of behavior."

Well, with me now from Hollywood Pat Lalama, host and correspondent with the Crime Network Investigation Discovery and she doesn`t tolerate it very much either. From Atlanta, Vinnie Politan, who`s the host of "SPECIAL REPORT" and "PRIME NEWS" right here on HLN.

And, Pat, let me start with you. Because obviously, here we had a cautionary tale for would-be iPhone thieves. You cannot really get away with stealing someone`s iPhone anymore because there really is an app for that.

PAT LALAMA, CORRESPONDENT, CRIME NETWORK INVESTIGATION DISCOVERY: Hey, well, listen, you can write this down and use this for the rest of the day. I dub Katy the virtual vigilante. She has gotten back at this guy, the alleged perpetrator. And you stole my goofy line, I figured the guy probably had one too many goofy drinks on the Disney Cruise Line.

But here`s the deal. I had to gather up all these 20-somethings to explain this whole process to me this morning so I could talk intelligently about it. And here`s what I`ve come to the conclusion. You`re supposed to -- when you steal the phone, you`re supposed to wipe it, apparently, the thief. And then all of it goes to some storage space in the sky, and she was smart enough to transfer it to Facebook.

I`ll bet Vinnie will tell you that somewhere is a defense attorney who`s going to say this guy`s privacy was invaded. What do you think, Vinnie?

(LAUGHTER)

VINNIE POLITAN, HOST, SPECIAL REPORT AND PRIME NEWS: Well, you know, we`re talking about stupidity. I`m seeing a crime here. My goodness. You find a cell phone, you take a cell phone, somebody else`s property. He`s on administrative leave? I hope that he ends up in handcuffs behind bars somewhere, because I see a very simple crime here, AJ.

HAMMER: SO fired and in jail, Vinnie?

POLITAN: Yes. Yes, that -- to me, that would be the happy ending.

LALAMA: Absolutely.

HAMMER: All right.

LALAMA: Absolutely.

HAMMER: Well, there would be your fairy tale ending. And for the record, Pat Lalama, giving helpful hints to would-be iPhone thieves everywhere.

And Pat apparently --

POLITAN: What`s that all about?

(CROSSTALK)

HAMMER: Apparently not living her life in the cloud.

Well, let us move to one apparently dumb move to another really dumber and downright dangerous move. Brand-new outrage tonight over this. I mean this still blows me away when I`m watching it. The caught-on-tape debacle at the Laundromat, New Jersey, involving a small boy and a washing machine.

Well, listen to this. Prosecutors have just said they are not going to press charges against the man who put that 1-year-old boy in the washing machine while the -- while they were baby-sitting this kid.

Pat, I don`t get it. How is putting a kid in a dangerous situation like this not child endangerment?

LALAMA: Well, you know what, if we could criminalize all parental and guardian stupidity, we have all done time at some point in our lives. I think what the prosecutors are saying is that there wasn`t the real intent. I mean it seems like endangerment to me. Then he could probably -- by the way, he wasn`t really thinking, I`m going to hurt this child. He didn`t plan to hurt the child. Even -- I mean it just didn`t happen that way and there isn`t enough to really win a case. At least, that`s what I think they`re saying.

HAMMER: Well, Vinnie, from a legal standpoint, I mean, you know, I hear stories where people, you know, accident -- or not accidentally, but they lock their kids in the car with the windows rolled up and there`s child endangerment enforced there, isn`t there? I mean what gives here?

POLITAN: Absolutely. Absolutely. It`s a judgment call by prosecutors. But I think here what they`re looking at, this wouldn`t be an intent crime. Right? So it`d have to be a crime based upon extreme recklessness. And generally speaking, when we prosecute extreme recklessness, we look at the results of what happened. So if this child had been seriously hurt or killed, there absolutely would have been charges brought, but I think they looked at the results and then said, well, it wasn`t intentional. It`s extreme recklessness. We`re going to make the judgment call the way we`re going to make it in this case. But the parents upset about it.

HAMMER: Yes, and I`m still trying to figure out, on what planet does a person live where they think that there`s anything right about this. That it`s OK to put a kid in a machine and close the door. I guess it`s this planet, because it happened.

Well, yes, the little boy`s mom, as Vinnie said, who first learned about her son`s ordeal on the news, said at first that she wasn`t going to press charges. Listen to what she told affiliate KYW.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I think it was just an accident. But I don`t think he meant to do it like that. But I just think it was an accident.

UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: What`s your thoughts about what he did, though?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I was mad, because you shouldn`t put a kid in a washer. But at the same time, he was just playing around.

UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: Do you think he should be charged?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: So I can`t really -- no, I don`t think he should be charged.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Now, on the "Today" show this morning, she apparently had a change of heart. Watch what she said.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Why do you want to file charges?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Because I left my child in her custody. She sat there and watched him put my baby in a washer, so it`s both of their fault. I don`t care how much she said it`s not her fault, it`s her fault, too.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: So Vinnie, quickly she`s going to press charges. How does this change the situation?

POLITAN: Well, she goes down to the precinct, press charges. Then prosecutor`s office has to decide what to do, if it`s a misdemeanor, it could be in municipal court. If he gets referred up to the prosecutor`s office. They`ll ultimately have the decision.

The bottom line, though, the headline here, was that the cutest baby you`ve ever seen?

HAMMER: Cutest baby. Vinnie Politan, Pat Lalama, thank you both.

Well tonight, a very personal SHOWBIZ newsmaker interview with Lisa Marie Presley. Elvis` daughter is opening up about everything from "American Idol" to her bold new stance on body image.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

PRESLEY: I think that anyone criticizing any woman for gaining weight during pregnancy, ever, not just me, but any woman, you know, is that -- like that should be off-limits.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Tonight, Lisa Marie tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT why she`s standing up for women everywhere.

And another "Idol" revelation tonight. Brand-new evidence that J.Lo needs to leave the show while she`s still on top. The new evidence why J.Lo needs to find a younger hipper reality show.

This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

And now a SHOWBIZ first look at "The Dark Knight Rises."

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: He`s (INAUDIBLE) criminals.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Terrorize Gotham. Born and raised, and hell on earth.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: You don`t owe these people anymore. You`ve given everything.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Not everything. Not yet.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

DINA EASTWOOD, CLINT EASTWOOD`S WIFE: Honey, you`ve made it. Finally.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Daddy, I missed you.

EASTWOOD: Honey, Morgan is giving me a rash of crap for exaggerating?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I`ve never heard you exaggerate.

(LAUGHTER)

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Clint Eastwood knows exactly what to say to keep peace in his home, and now that his family is on reality TV, we`re getting to see exactly what makes the Eastwood family tick.

Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. Tonight, kissing Clint. Dina Eastwood has been married to Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood for 16 years. When they met, Dina was a 27-year-old local news reporter. Clint, a young and surprise 65-year-old superstar. And up until now, they`ve really lived a very private life.

Well, Dina`s changing all that, opening up their home to the world, with the new reality TV show, "Mrs. Eastwood and Company." And although Clint reluctantly appears on the show just a few times, we do get a rare glimpse into his private life and into their relationship.

Dina reveals to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Nischelle Turner that her life with Clint is a real love story, but she does understand why people still ask if their big age difference affects them.

NISCHELLE TURNER, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT CORRESPONDENT: Do you ever think there`s, like, a 35-year age difference?

EASTWOOD: Isn`t it -- it`s bizarre to say that. I mean I probably have judgment on somebody who had a 35-year age difference --

TURNER: I had to look up the ages, because I didn`t even realize it. And then I said --

EASTWOOD: That`s nice of you.

TURNER: He`s 81, she`s 46.

EASTWOOD: Yes, he`s 82 next week.

TURNER: Really?

EASTWOOD: Yes. This is correct.

TURNER: Does it ever -- could you ever think about that, or is it just --

EASTWOOD: This sounds a little rehearsed, because I had to say it last week, but I do think about it when we`re listening to music. Really. So when I want to crank Prince, and he is like, ahh, then I think about it. But nothing else. Nothing. And you know what the cool part is I think is that I was a grown woman when we started dating. I was 30 years old. So it wasn`t one of those deals where I was super impressionable, very young. I had a neat job, I had traveled.

And so I was an adult when I met him, and he was so young for his age. And when we got married, we`re just -- we put the ages together and split them in half, and said, OK, let`s call it 45 each, we`re good. So -- and we`ve never had a problem with it. We`ve never -- if anything, I can`t keep up with him. I got it going on as press junkets anymore, seriously, please because I can`t get handle getting up first day in New York and going to the "today" show, like he does. You know? He just goes, goes, goes.

TURNER: Was it love at first sight, because I mean you`re gorgeous.

EASTWOOD: God. Thank you.

TURNER: But seriously, was it love at first sight?

EASTWOOD: We were both with other people, and when I was finished with the interview with him, I remember telling all my friends, god, I get how he`s so sexy. He was so -- he`s so good -- he`s so big, too. He`s big, he`s tall, he`s broad shouldered and he`s very, very handsome with the great hair. I thought he was a very attractive guy. A year later, after we`d seen each other a few times publicly, we sat together at a function. That was kind of the love at second sight. That was like a bond happened there and we never split since. We held hands under the table during this nonprofit dinner and it`s been -- it was interesting. He got my number --

(CROSSTALK)

EASTWOOD: No, haven`t let the hand go.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: I think that`s very sweet. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Nischelle Turner joining me now.

TURNER: Thank you.

HAMMER: Nischelle, I get the impression that despite how big a star Clint is, they`re actually a pretty normal couple in a lot of ways.

TURNER: Yes, yes, definitely a normal couple, A.J. you know, they don`t have this large staff, they don`t have a personal chef. Dina likes to be in the kitchen cooking chicken enchiladas. She says you can find Clint doing grocery shopping at Whole Food.

They`re very normal for Hollywood, but he just happens to be one of the most famous people. But you know I had to ask Dina if she worries about this so-called reality TV curse that`s been blamed for wreaking havoc on so many famous families.

Watch what she told me about that.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

TURNER: Do you ever think, this could affect my family?

EASTWOOD: Many times. I`ve thought it many times. Still freaks me out now. Less now, because I feel like I`ve been in labor for three years and that the baby`s finally being born. So I am ready for the kid to be born and let`s move on and let`s see what happens with this child. But, yes, I`ve had all those fears. I still have those fears. When we had the premiere the other night, I snuck in another room by myself to watch and did not -- didn`t remind Clint that it was on.

And he`s like, what are you doing? What are you doing in here? Why didn`t you tell me? It was very sweet, but I`m just like -- I`m still this kind of just like, am I really doing this? Oh, my gosh. It`s very, very surprising for me. But I will tell you, I would never, ever, ever sacrifice a family for a TV show.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

TURNER: You know, I like that, I like that a lot, A.J. if it gets too hairy, she says, I`m done.

HAMMER: Yes. And we`ve seen it get plenty hairy, dirty Harry.

(LAUGHTER)

HAMMER: Nischelle Turner, I`m sorry. I couldn`t resist, thank you so much.

We move on now to another revealing showbiz newsmaker interview with Elvis` daughter Lisa Marie Presley. Could she be "American Idol`s" next judge.

JESSICA SANCHEZ, "AMERICAN IDOL" RUNNER UP: When they announced that it was Phillip, I was so happy, and I was like, you know, that`s why I gave him a big hug and I was smiling the whole time. I was like, this fool`s going to win and I love him so much. He deserved it. Like literally, he has worked harder than all of us. We`ve all been working hard, but he`s been having to keep up with his health issues, with his kidneys. And I think he`s been through a lot more than us mentally and physically.

HAMMER: Sharon`s nanny troubles. Sharon Stone has just been hit with a lawsuit by her former nanny. Linda Elmond, Stone`s live-in nanny of more than four years claims in her suit that when she refused to return overtime pay Stone says she didn`t deserve, Sharon fired her.

She also said the actor regularly degraded per Filipino accent and religious views. But Stone`s lawyers is firing back, saying "SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, " This is an absurd lawsuit that has been filed by a disgruntled ex-employee who is obviously looking to get money any way she can."

SO he has to write a fantastic ending. So as he goes through into these next couple of months, he`s going to write us a beautiful ending.

And tonight showbiz is on location with the princess of rock `n` roll, Lisa Marie Presley. Now, we`ve all watched Elvis` only child grow up in the spotlight and evolve into not just an incredible artist in her own right, but also a mom of four, including two three-year-old twin girls. Lisa Marie is all too familiar with critics who slammed her for gaining weight while she was pregnant. Well, now she`s taking a stand. And I`m happy to hear it.

"Showbiz Tonight" went on Lisa Marie at the magnificent Grammy Museum, and that`s where she opened up to us about everything, from her famous dad to "American Idol" and her first album in seven years called "Storm and Grace."

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

(MUSIC PLAYING)

KAREEN WYNTER, "SHOWBIZ TONIGHT" CORRESPONDENT (on camera): "Storm and Grace," that is a fully loaded title. What was the inspiration behind this, your first album in seven years?

PRESLEY: My life just took so many different turns. I left the country, I had babies, I had things to work out, and I wanted to do it far away. And thank god I had the, you know, accessibility to be - to use that creative outlet while doing that and processing it all.

(MUSIC PLAYING)

WYNTER: Let`s talk about famed T. Bone Burnett. Gosh, teaming up with him on this album. He produced it. What was that like?

PRESLEY: You know, he really just kind of came as a godsend. And I was kind of not - didn`t have a lot of confidence anymore. I was a little bit tapped out. And when he came in and took it on and believed in it and about, I say, three or four days in, I just kind of pulled him aside and just thanked him. He was breathing life back into me. I didn`t really have it.

WYNTER: Correct me if I`m not quoting this correctly, but he said, "I want to create something that Elvis would dig." What do you think your dad would say if he had a chance to listen to this phenomenal CD today?

PRESLEY: I could only hope that he would be proud. I also think that he would understand a little bit what I was dealing with before and sort of the process to get here. I can only hope that he`d be proud, though. I mean this seems a little bit more up his alley.

(MUSIC PLAYING)

WYNTER: How did it feel being on that huge, intimidating "Idol" stage?

PRESLEY: I mean I was really trying not to think about it.

WYNTER: Is it as overwhelming as it appears watching it from home?

PRESLEY: It is. But I have to say, I was thrilled with the stage, the setup on the stage, and I think I had somebody say to me - I asked how many viewers and then, no, no, no, don`t tell me until after I get off.

WYNTER: Simon Fuller is the king of reality TV, so tell me, any aspirations in the future to judge a singing competition reality show?

PRESLEY: Gosh, I wouldn`t say never, ever to anything.

WYNTER: If Simon asked you tomorrow?

PRESLEY: I would - well, I don`t know, he never has. It`s never come up. But just saying I wouldn`t say never, but I wouldn`t find it easy to be someone that would tear an artist apart. If I did and if it ever happened, I would be the encouraging one.

(MUSIC PLAYING)

WYNTER: Tell me about your trip to Graceland. You shot a little bit of the video there, but also spent mother`s day there with the family.

PRESLEY: I did. I was - we had dinner and then everyone got in the golf carts and ran around and tore up the lawn after dinner.

WYNTER: Takes you back to your childhood?

PRESLEY: It does. The babies were in the golf cart, squealing, giggling. That was fun.

WYNTER: What do you tell them about dad, their grandfather?

PRESLEY: They, you know, Finley is, you know, "that`s my grandfather who sings." She wants to hear it, so I`m whizzing by satellite radio and all of a sudden (INAUDIBLE). She has an ear, she`ll go back.

And Reilly is just, is just taking on an amazing career.

WYNTER: Acting now.

PRESLEY: She is.

WYNTER: No longer modeling, diving into acting.

PRESLEY: Yes.

WYNTER: What kind of advice do you give her as a famous child?

PRESLEY: I just, I want her to follow her heart and what she wants to do, but it can tend to be a little bit hard on people, the business, and entertainment. So sometimes it can get a little superficial, she`ll get disheartened, and that is very much like me and her father, to be honest. And I can see her start to deflate if things get a little bit superficial or not important. She can just kind of, and it`s not about the art anymore. I can see her doing that. That concerns me, but she`s going to have to - she`ll get through it.

WYNTER: The issue of body image, it`s always been in the news, but it`s been at the forefront. Anna Wintour, the ban on skinny models. You`ve dealt with it yourself, you know, the paparazzi targeting you because of your weight, at one point when you were expecting.

PRESLEY: Yes, you know, I think that anyone criticizing any woman for gaining weight during pregnancy, ever, not just me, but any woman, you know, that should be off-limits. You know, the woman is contributing to the human race, you know, and when that became OK to go after people for gaining weight, for being pregnant, I don`t know. I might have been one of the first few, but -

(MUSIC PLAYING)

WYNTER: You`ve been on that quest for normalcy. Why is that so important and have you found it?

PRESLEY: Yes, I have. And it is important just to keep grounded, because I don`t want everyone to be insulated, where I don`t have my gauge on the temperature out there, or on me or what`s going on. And you can sort of get insulated and surrounded when you`re high profile or there`s power or there`s money. All these things can attract the wrong elements. And it`s important to keep a good perspective of life so that that doesn`t happen.

Thank you so much.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: "Showbiz Tonight`s" Kareen Wynter joins me now from Hollywood. So, Kareen, Lisa Marie, first I have to say, looks and sounds fantastic, and she told you that she hopes Elvis would proud of her new album. So hanging out with her, did you kind of get the sense that she is still really trying to connect with her late father through her music even after all these years?

WYNTER: Absolutely, A.J.. I mean, this is a singer who lost her dad at such a young age, the tender age of nine, she`s now 44 years old. And finds so much therapy in her music. In fact, A.J., a couple of weeks ago, Lisa Marie, she went to Sun Studio in Memphis, get this, for the very first time. That`s where her dad, of course, recorded his music. And you know, she said what she really wanted, A.J., was that connection and that just being there at the famous Sun Studio was magical. And that she felt such an incredible energy there.

HAMMER: Well, how cool is that? Kareen, I have to say it, thank you, thank you very much.

OK.

WYNTER: Thank you very much.

HAMMER: Sorry.

Should Jennifer Lopez say good riddance to "American Idol"? Now you might be asking yourself, why in the world would J.Lo leave the biggest show on the planet? Well, tonight, we are going to tell you why it might actually be a good idea for J.Lo to leave the show.

And what are you going to do, Hulk Hogan, when your daughter takes after you. Tonight, is Hulk Hogan`s daughter getting into the ring like her dad? Could it be? And how is her family doing these days after a tough couple of years in the spotlight? Brooke Hogan right here to reveal all in a must-see showbiz newsmaker interview.

This is "Showbiz Tonight" on HLN.

And now showbiz`s first look at Bristol Palin`s new reality show, "Bristol Palin: Life`s a Trip" coming to Lifetime on June 19.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

BRISTOL PALIN: I think it`s weird having my life broadcasted to everyone. I think there`s a lot of misconceptions out there.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Your mom is evil.

PALIN: He should have gotten his ass kicked.

I think people are going to be surprised that the normal life that I live and the anti-Hollywood type of person that I am. I have a lot of mama grizzly in me.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: So did you catch the big "American Idol" finale last night? J.Lo took the stage and she just blew the crowd away with yet another great performance. But is this her swan song to the show that really launched her back into the spotlight?

Welcome back to "Showbiz Tonight." Tonight, leaving "Idol"? Even after that amazing two-hour "American Idol" finale, Jennifer Lopez is still dropping hints that she may be hanging up her "Idol" judge`s hat. And while fans are begging J.Lo to come back for another season, we say, eh, not so fast, Jennifer.

Tonight, "showbiz tonight" reveals the brand-new evidence of why J.Lo should give up that judge`s seat and just walk away. Let me bring in Maggie Furlong from the "Huffington Post." She joins me from Hollywood tonight.

So J.Lo was so focused on her kids right before "Idol," but the show has really given her this huge career boost. It gave her a ton of exposure. Essentially, it made her relevant again, Maggie. But still, we`re thinking it`s time for J.Lo to go, and here`s why. This is the perfect time for her to go on tour and savor her renewed found fame. Do you agree Maggie, or do you think that she should stick it out and stick with what`s working for her right now?

MAGGIE FURLONG, "HUFFINGTON POST": I agree with you 100 percent. I think J.lo should move on from "Idol." "Idol" is kind of getting old, and J.Lo`s kind of young and fresh again. And I feel like if she hit the road and went on tour, people will actually pay to see her in concert again. And that`s something, you can`t capture that easily in this business so I think J.Lo should be done.

HAMMER: And you make a great point because of course, there was a time when you know, "American Idol" was the only reality singing show of its kind. Now you have singing show fans with a lot more choices. That brings us to another reason why we think she should leave "Idol." "American Idol" is in a slump. And this perhaps the right time to go out while the show is really still on top. Come on, Maggie, is there any reason for her to stay and perhaps try to save the sinking ship that saved her?

FURLONG: Money, money, money, money. Part of me thinks that J.Lo`s just pulling this, "Oh, I don`t know if I can come back, I miss my kids. Blah, blah, blah." No, she wants more money. And I think if they gave it to her, she would stay. But I honestly think they could spend that much so much better on someone else. Bring in some fresh blood, shake up the entire format, and really give this show a second boost.

HAMMER: See, you want to think that people stay with shows, leave shows for more noble reasons, and really it always does come down to money. But, look, J.Lo is at the top of her game right now. I`m also thinking, maybe that`s not such a good thing. Because she was just named "Forbes`" most powerful celebrity with 23,000 magazine mentions. So here`s reason number three, she could be risked over-exposure. And sadly, I don`t want to be cynical about all this, but I`m thinking there is nowhere to go but downhill in a way. How long do you think she can carry this kind of momentum? Because she certainly is on fire right now.

FURLONG: We have to kind of make note that a lot of those mentions are about her little boy toy boyfriend. A lot of those mentions are about her recent divorce and split and all these things in her personal life. It`s not necessarily about J.Lo`s so talented, did you see that performance she did on "American Idol"? A lot of it is "Idol," but a lot is her personal life. Yes, that plays into it, but it doesn`t necessarily mean that people will be eager to see her. The one thing she has going for her, is that "Idol" has introduced her into an entirely new audience, a younger audience, and those are the people that still pay to go to concerts.

HAMMER: And she got that - people are saying that hot new boyfriend, right? All right. Maggie, thank you so much. Great to see you. Appreciate it.

And now on to another burning question about life as a Hogan. We have just learned that Hulk Hogan`s daughter, Brooke, is following in his wrestling`s footsteps. Now, of course, we all got to know, Brooke, and her family during the Hogan`s hit reality show, "Hogan Knows Best," but since then, an awful lot has changed. Including Brooke`s parents going through a very public and very nasty divorce.

Now Brooke has a whole new adventure of her own. She is joining TNA Wrestling and she`s with me tonight for a showbiz newsmaker interview. It`s great to see you. I`m very excited to hear about your new adventure on spike. We`ll talk about that in a moment.

But it`s hard to believe, seven years since you guys launched "Hogan Knows Best" and you paid "Showbiz Tonight" a visit at that time. Charles, do we have - here we go. There you are. Do you remember that?

BROOKE HOGAN: I do.

HAMMER: Do you remember that?

HOGAN: I do, actually. Yes.

HAMMER: Seven years ago, it was right here on the set of "Showbiz Tonight".

HOGAN: I look so young.

HAMMER: A lot has changed in your lives since then. I mean it`s actually remarkable, seven years, things change for families. Your family, holy mackerel. Do you regret now looking back, exposing your life in that way?

HOGAN: I don`t, actually. It was fun and it had nothing to do with my parents` problems, my family`s problems. They were bickering way before then. I think it just kind of accelerated the already-ticking time bomb.

HAMMER: That`s what a lot of people say. And let`s be honest, you know, watching their marital problems play out on TV was pretty tough and uncomfortable to watch. I`m sure for you it was difficult seeing the world see it, but for us as viewers, it was pretty tough. Have they made their peace yet, or are things still kind of rough for them?

HOGAN: They`ve made their peace. A little tidbit of information that nobody knows. You`re the first that I`m telling.

HAMMER: Good, please.

HOGAN: I actually got them on the phone, because they were trying to sell the marital house and they were going back and forth between lawyers, and I said, "You guys just talk." So I had my mom on my cell phone, and I was like, "Here, dad, it`s for you."

HAMMER: When was the last time prior to that had they spoken on the telephone and not through lawyers?

HOGAN: Oh, my goodness, I think it was probably right when my brother`s accident happened. They had to talk.

HAMMER: So it`s been years.

HOGAN: Yes, it`s been years.

HAMMER: And because of you - and how did the conversation go, as far as you were able to tell?

HOGAN: They were actually very cordial. It was very nice, like nothing had really happened, but very platonic. It was weird.

HAMMER: OK. But it was civil?

HOGAN: Yes, very civil.

HAMMER: That`s a big change. I have to say, I`m happy to hear that.

HOGAN: So good news.

HAMMER: Because it was tough. You know it was so public and it was quite frankly tough talking about and everybody was talking about it. And then everybody talked about what was going on in their individual lives. Of course, your dad has since remarried and your mom, she`s recently broken up, but she got a lot of attention for the fact that the guy she was dating was, what, 29 years her junior, do I have that right? Yes, 29 years younger. Do you feel that that criticism was unfair? Because a lot of people were really kind of laying into her about that.

HOGAN: You know what, my only concern, first of all, was the age difference. It`s not that I don`t believe that love can`t work in many ways, shapes, and forms. But I know that I have changed so much, and he`s a little bit younger than me, and I know that in the last three years, I`m a completely different person. So you know, that was my only concern is that this kid has his life to live and she`s changing with her once (INAUDIBLE).

HAMMER: A maturity level is needed.

HOGAN: Right.

HAMMER: I think that`s one of the things that people are quick to point out.

HOGAN: Yes and I think you can`t really escape that. You know, it can be honeymoon phase for a while but I think the nitty-gritty kind of laid in and they realized, oh, I guess this isn`t working. That`s hard to be so passionate about something and have to back down and say, hey, it`s not working.

HOGAN: Well, sure and especially when you have the added public pressure to the extent where that matters, when everybody is saying, "Well, this isn`t going to work out," and when it turns out it doesn`t work out, sometimes you think, oh maybe we should hang on to it. But obviously you`re now following in the footsteps of your dad, the great Hulk Hogan and joining in on the family business. I want to know if that means you`re going to be entering the ring. Don`t tell me yet, stay right where you are.

HOGAN: OK.

HAMMER: "Glee`s" Jane Lynch lends her voice to a new video for President Obama`s campaign.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JANE LYNCH, ACTRESS: He appointed more openly LBGT people to his administration and confirmed more LBGT federal judges than any previous administration and he knocked down a long standing discriminatory policy within the U.S. military.

BARACK OBAMA, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: One of my proudest moments was when we were able to repeal don`t ask, don`t tell.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Please welcome the one, the only, the immortal Hulk Hogan!

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: You got to love it. Takes you back, right? The legendary Hulk Hogan. And now after growing up as wrestling royalty, his daughter, Brooke, is jumping into the family business. And Brooke is back with me here in New York.

It`s nice to spend some time with you. So you`re getting into wrestling with TNA Impact. What exactly is happening here? Are you going to be body slamming opponents, are you going to be knocking people into the side of the ring? What`s going on?

HOGAN: I wish. That sounds like a lot of fun, but I think those girls would kick my butt. You know what? I`m doing something that I never thought I would do, and it kind of took me by surprise too. It was one of these things where Dixey Carter is the president of TNA, but her background is music. She`s been working with me on my music for the past year and a half. And we were sitting at lunch one day and we were throwing around some ideas for a good knockouts at TNA, just as friends, and she says, "I`ve been looking for somebody to manage these girls and you`ve been sitting right in front of me the whole time and you know the business backwards, forwards and inside out, because you grew up in it, would you mind helping me for a little bit?" I was like, "Why not, life is short."

HAMMER: Wow. I mean it sounds like the perfect gig because you obviously know what works and you certainly know what doesn`t work when it comes to the people who work in this business?

HOGAN: Right. I think you know, there was a lot of scrutiny from people. There`s a lot of people who are saying, "Oh, you know, this isn`t a good idea. Why?"

HAMMER: Are there people crying nepotism? Are they saying -

HOGAN: Absolutely.

HAMMER: But it makes such sense to me.

HOGAN: What people don`t know is that my dad didn`t know I was doing it.

HAMMER: Oh really.

HOGAN: I think I gave him a heart attack, poor guy. I told him, I was like, "Dad, you know, me and Dixey have been talking and I think I`m going to start managing the Knockouts." He was like, "Do you think, or are you doing it?"

HAMMER: You`re a grown woman, obviously you can do what you want to do, but he did he try to dissuade you?

HOGAN: He did. Because he knows me, I`m a tomboy. I was always in the (INAUDIBLE) and like having him teach me how to lock up and (INAUDIBLE) punches and stuff like that. So.

HAMMER: So no chance we`ll see you hopping into the ring?

HOGAN: I don`t think so.

HAMMER: We saw Snooki do it.

HOGAN: Well, unless somebody antagonizes me now. You know, (INAUDIBLE) wrestling ring you`re not in the outside world (INAUDIBLE).

HAMMER: You don`t mess with Brooke.

What about the possibility, since you`re going to be right there in the business, of bringing your dad in and maybe working with him at some point?

HOGAN: You know what, what I love and admire so much about TNA now is that they`re going more real with things. You know, wrestling has earned its reputation for being scripted or premeditated and TNA is actually doing this whole new thing where they`re actually taking the real story lines from all the wrestler`s lives and are integrating that in with the matches.

HAMMER: Oh cool.

HOGAN: So I don`t know.

HAMMER: Wait a second, wrestling is scripted? I didn`t -

Brooke, it`s great to see you. It sounds like life is in a good place. And make sure you check out Brooke Hogan when she begins her role on TNA Impact Wrestling. See how she impacts it all on Spike TV, live on May 31st. Be sure to check that out.

HOGAN: 8:00 p.m.

HAMMER: And that is it for "Showbiz Tonight." I`m A.J. Hammer. Remember you can catch "Showbiz Tonight" exclusively weeknights at 11:00 p.m. Eastern and Pacific, right here on HLN.
