Casey Anthony Probation Ends at Midnight

Aired August 23, 2012 - 20:00   ET

THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

NANCY GRACE, HOST: Breaking news tonight, Orlando. Tot mom Casey Anthony, after she walks free on the horrific murder of her 2-year-old little girl, Caylee -- Caylee`s tiny boding decomposing, rotting just 10 houses from the Anthony home -- tot mom gets straight probation when she`s caught on video at Target buying push-up bras, lingerie and cases of beer for her live-in boyfriend with somebody else`s checks.

After tot mom fails miserably trying to turn a dollar with Caylee`s story with attempted books and TV appearances, bombshell tonight. In the next hour, tot mom set to walk free. At midnight tonight, tot mom Casey Anthony will officially be a free woman. Right now, we`ve got a live camera poised in Palm Beach, trying to determine which way this one-woman crime wave is headed. Hey, maybe she`s headed to your neighborhood -- to be a baby-sitter!

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Casey Anthony could officially be a free woman.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: At midnight, that`s when her probation on the check fraud conviction set to end.

CASEY ANTHONY, ACQUITTED OF MURDER: And I`m extremely excited.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Where she was serving probation because of the check fraud conviction. She pleaded guilty to them.

ANTHONY: Very exciting.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Prison officials rule that she has satisfied all the requirements. And again, that probation should end on schedule.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: She has been staying in a residence in Florida. And don`t expect her to suddenly walk out at the stroke of midnight.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: She can`t go out. She won`t go out. She`s not going to be seen anywhere in public.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Was acquitted on murder charges in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

ANTHONY: Kind of funny to think about, actually. I don`t know. This has just been such a blessing in so many ways.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: The clock is ticking on her being a completely free woman.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: (INAUDIBLE) final (ph) time (INAUDIBLE) Casey is free.

ANTHONY: So here`s hoping. It`s the end of the first (ph). It`s just the beginning.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: Good evening. I`m Nancy Grace. I want to thank you for being with us.

Bombshell tonight. In the next hours, tot mom Casey Anthony set to walk completely scot-free. At midnight tonight, tot mom Casey Anthony officially a free woman. As her lawyer says, she will now be free to do, quote, "whatever she wants." Hey, maybe she`s headed to your neighborhood to be a baby-sitter. I`m sure she`ll give a special introductory rate at baby-sitting.

We are taking your calls. Right now, we`ve got a camera poised, a live tot mom cam poised there down in Florida. Let`s see what`s happening down there right now, Liz. There you`re seeing shots as we are waiting for tot mom to be released from probation.

Now, this is what she`s on probation for. Let`s see that video, too. As you will recall, while her daughter`s body was rotting, was decomposing, here`s tot mom -- take a look. Now, remember, all this time, she`s lying to police, saying that Zenaida Gonzalez, the fake nanny, took her baby.

But there`s tot mom at this time, while she knows her child is dead. She knows. She admits she lied to police, that she knew at this time her child was dead, her body rotting. There she is using somebody else`s check -- let`s see that video again, please -- buying push-up bras, lingerie at Target, and cases of beer for her live-in boyfriend.

I just want to soak that in for a moment. Let it breathe.

So on this charge, tot mom gets straight probation on bad checks. And tonight, in a couple of hours, she will walk completely free, as her lawyer said.

Now, isn`t this the one that shot a bird at everyone? Liz, do we have that memorable shot? Tot mom free to do, quote, "whatever she wants."

We are taking your calls. I want to go straight out to Robyn Walensky, anchor, reporter, with TheBlaze, author of "Beautiful Life: The CSI Behind the Casey Anthony Trial."

Robyn, how did we get here?

ROBYN WALENSKY, THEBLAZE: You know, Nancy, it is mind-boggling that she is going to be a free woman, free as a bird. The jury found her not guilty more than a year ago of all the serious charges, and she`s going to be free.

I have to tell you, Nancy, Cheney Mason is going -- her lawyer is going to be in court. He`s going to ask Judge Perry (ph) to sign an order declaring that her probation is over, so she will be free to leave the state, free to leave this country, Nancy.

GRACE: OK. Repeat to me what Cheney Mason -- here he is in all his splendor and glory. He`s asking the judge to do what?

WALENSKY: To sign an order declaring her a free woman, that her probation is over. And I -- you know, Nancy, I don`t agree with Cheney Mason on much, but something that he has said in recent days is that Casey Anthony is in a cell of a different description. And I agree with you. She is, you know, the O.J. of our time, and look where O.J. Simpson is tonight, in prison in -- you know, in the Las Vegas casino caper. So...

(CROSSTALK)

GRACE: We`ve got a saying for that, Robyn Walensky. It`s if you don`t know a horse, look at his track record. So I can only judge tot mom on what I already know about her.

To Vinnie Politan, lawyer and host of HLN and "In Session." Vinnie, you know, I don`t know that tot mom is ever going to be in the position to commit another murder.

Hey, let`s bring in all the lawyers. Unleash the lawyers. Along with Vinnie Politan, with me, Bill Shaeffer, former prosecutor, WFTV legal analyst joining me out of Orlando tonight, Christine Grillo, prosecutor, New York, Darryl Cohen, former attorney for Jesse Grund, tot mom`s fiance, Greg McEathen (ph), known as law and order, defense attorney out of Atlanta.

Vinnie Politan, she may never get the chance to commit another murder. But this is what we know. We know that she lied to police for months on end regarding her child`s disappearance, cashed bad checks, a series of alleged felonies. You know, that much I do know. I know she`s been out trying to turn a profit on her daughter`s death with attempted books, with attempted TV appearances, even overseas with that ridiculous diary she was creating, the video diary where she talks about herself.

What`s going to happen now, Vin?

VINNIE POLITAN, HOST, HLN AND "IN SESSION": She`s free. She can do whatever she wants, Nancy! At midnight, you know what? She can go pop some champagne bottles, like Cheney Mason and the defense team were after the verdict. She can get drunk. She can go to a hot body contest. She can do whatever she wants!

And I have to disagree with Robyn who said she`s going to live in this cell of a life. No. She is 100 percent free. She can travel the world. And she`s probably going to find some sucker out there who`s going to take care of her, some guy out there who thinks it`s a great thing to be with Casey Anthony. Let`s just hope they don`t make a baby.

GRACE: All right, Darryl Cohen, response?

DARRYL COHEN, DEFENSE ATTORNEY: I think that she is free. Nothing that she does now is going to stop her. But she is going to be under a microscope because she`s a sociopath, and she`s going to do something -- and I hope she doesn`t -- that`s going to bring her back in the eye of the law. And when she does, she`s going to be just like O.J. and got to be careful.

But right now, she`s a free woman. Do what you want. Want what you do. Doesn`t matter anymore.

GRACE: To Bill Shaeffer, former prosecutor, WFTV legal analyst. He was there every single day of the tot mom trial.

Let`s take a look at that Web cam again, please, Liz. We don`t know which way tot mom is headed. I don`t know that I want to know. But maybe that neighborhood should be alerted.

Bill Shaeffer, what`s going to happen now? Are there any court proceedings?

BILL SHAEFFER, WFTV LEGAL ANALYST: No. The state of Florida will lose jurisdiction over Casey Anthony. Once her probation is terminated, she is free.

Nancy, by the way, one of the good things that came out of this case, if anything good could come out of this case, is that Florida now increased the penalty for failing to provide information or report a missing child. They`ve now made that a third degree felony. Too bad that wasn`t in effect at the time this case came up.

GRACE: Out to the lines. Melissa in Alabama. Hi, Melissa. What`s your question?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Hi, Nancy. And first of all, I`d just like to tell you I think you`re wonderful.

GRACE: Thank you.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: And I DVR you because I`m in classes, so...

GRACE: Thank you.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Good to see you live. But anyways, my question was, you know, how many people out there think that she`s going to be put back into the prison system because of who she is? She is a cunning woman. And she thinks she`s smarter, just like O.J. She thinks she`s smarter and above the law.

GRACE: You know, I -- you`d think, Christine Grillo, prosecutor out of New York, that she would be minding her Ps and Qs. But criminals can`t help it. They can`t help it. It`s their nature. You know, like the scorpion and the frog. He asked Mr. Frog to help him cross the river, and as they`re crossing, he bites the frog and they both go down to the bottom of the river to their death. And as they`re going, Froggy says, Why did you bite me? And the scorpion says, It`s my nature.

It is her nature!

CHRISTINE GRILLO, PROSECUTOR: Absolutely, Nancy. You couldn`t be more right. She`s not going to be able to stay out of trouble because as people have been saying, and as she is, she`s a psychopath. She cannot control herself.

And she was a pathological liar at the time. The crime that she is accused of and we all feel she was guilty of is such a heinous crime. Where does she go from here? And look what happened. Look what happened to O.J. Simpson. She is the O.J. Simpson of today. She`s not going to be able to stay out of trouble.

GRACE: To Steve Helling, writer with "People" magazine, author of "Outrage: The Casey Anthony Story." Steve, you also were there with me in court every single day during the tot mom trial. What did the family have to say, the family with whom tot mom was living during this probationary period?

STEVE HELLING, "PEOPLE" MAGAZINE: Well, you know, she was staying with a pastor`s family at one point, and they were not happy with her when she left. You know, the wife sent a note to her saying, you know, Why don`t you think of somebody else, Casey? Think of somebody else for a change. Think outside yourself.

And it goes to show that, you know, for the last 20-something years, Casey has always been about Casey -- me, me, me.

GRACE: Steve Helling...

HELLING: It`s going to be the same.

GRACE: Steve Helling -- put him up, please. Steve Helling, how many times have I asked you to please not put perfume on the pig, at least for this one hour of your life when you`re on our program because what the preacher`s family actually said was to the effect she is a self-absorbed mooch. That`s what they said, a self-absorbed mooch.

What we were screaming the whole trial is that all the time that Caylee was missing, she was propped up on the sofa eating chips like she had been for the last couple of years, telling her parents she was working.

I`m still stunned at the verdict, as you can see. And I never knew Caylee, but I`ve got a little girl. I`ve got a little boy. And I can only imagine what Caylee went through in the last moments of her life. I know she decomposed partially in a car trunk, tot mom`s car trunk. I know that much.

But I want to go back to my question. How did she get hooked up with the preacher`s family? How did she end up living there? And where do we believe she is now, and where do we believe she`s going?

HELLING: OK. Well, she hooked up with the preacher`s family because he was the preacher of one of the investigators on the defense team. And so it just kind of happened that way.

After that kind of fell apart in January, she`s been living down in West Palm Beach with another member of the security team of her defense.

And now where`s she going? I mean, she can go anywhere, Nancy. She could be in Nebraska tomorrow, if she wants. She could be in Kansas. She can be wherever she wants to be. And none of us know right now where she`s going to ultimately end up.

GRACE: Well, look at your monitor...

HELLING: But we`ll find out.

GRACE: ... right now, Steve Helling. Take a look at your monitor, if you can see it. This is where I predict she`s going. Maybe not Fusion (ph), since it`s closed. But this is where she was last spotted before she was arrested for her daughter`s murder.

Tonight, in a couple of hours, tot mom officially, quote, "free to do anything she wants and go where -- anywhere she wants." If you`re in a bar tonight, you better dive under that table, people!

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Casey Anthony`s resurfaced.

ANTHONY: But the good thing is that things are starting to look up and things are starting to change -- in a good way.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Her probation on a check fraud conviction is set to end.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: But she`s been on probation for the last year, and her probation ends...

ANTHONY: And I`m extremely excited. I`m extremely excited.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: And a lawyer for Anthony says prison officials ruled that she has satisfied all the requirements.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: What does this all mean?

ANTHONY: It`s the end of the first. Just the beginning.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: A completely free woman.

ANTHONY: Very exciting!

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: She`s been in this home or enclave or whatever it is in Florida, and she`ll stay there.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: And the probation should end on schedule.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: We are taking your calls. In the next couple of hours, tot mom Casey Anthony, who walks away from the horrific murder of her little girl, 2-year-old Caylee -- Caylee`s body literally rotting just a few houses down from where tot mom put her head on the pillow every night -- she is walking completely free after being convicted on charges of check fraud and lying to police.

Let`s see that Target video, please. What`s so incredible about this video, where tot mom is caught on tape, caught on tape buying lingerie and push-up bras while she knows her daughter`s body is rotting, a case of beer for her boyfriend with somebody else`s check -- she got straight probation on that. And tonight, in a couple of hours, she walks free officially, as her lawyer says, Cheney Mason, free to, quote, "do anything she wants."

We are taking your calls. Out to Shirley in Missouri. Hi, Shirley. What`s your question?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Hi, Nancy. Well, my question is, is why is she free and her poor daughter isn`t?

GRACE: You know, I`m going to go out...

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I mean, this disgusts me.

GRACE: Dr. Bethany Marshall, I want to go to a non-lawyer on that. Weigh in.

BETHANY MARSHALL, PSYCHOANALYST: Because children are vulnerable and they do not have a voice. And most children under 5 who are murdered or die are murdered at the hands of their parents.

And look, Nancy, she has already begun her offending pattern again. What did Casey Anthony do? She found a vulnerable family. She moved in. And as you said it, she is mooching off of them.

In that videotape, you see her in Target spending money. Her daughter`s already dead. She took a check from her best friend, Amy Huizenga.

What does she do now? She moved in with a preacher`s family, getting them to pay for everything for her. They say there`s a sucker born every minute. Well, she`s going to continue to find suckers until she runs out of luck, just like O.J. Simpson did.

GRACE: Bill Shaeffer, I want to hear your response to that.

SHAEFFER: Well, well, well, well, well. Listen, the one thing that we know is, is that 12 jurors acquitted her. It washes away a lot of sins. Once the acquittal came down, it was only a matter of time that she`s going to be free in the community.

But you raise a good point, which is this. It`s her character. We have not seen the last of her. The criminal justice system has not seen the last of Casey Anthony.

I`ll tell you one place I`ll bet you she doesn`t go back to, and that`s Orange County because people here haven`t forgotten, haven`t forgiven, and still hold a torch for young Caylee Anthony.

GRACE: Let`s go to our live webcam there in Florida, as we are awaiting tot mom to walk free, officially free, as her lawyer said to, quote, "do anything she wants." Well, I would say she`s already done that.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Not guilty.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: As to the charge of first degree murder.

ANTHONY: I`m extremely excited.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: And her probation ends at the stroke of midnight Thursday night.

ANTHONY: A blessing in so many ways.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: A completely free woman.

ANTHONY: And I`m just starting to figure out my new computer.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: She`s a resilient...

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I have something that I can finally call mine.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: She`s ready.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: Tonight, in a couple of hours, tot mom finally walks free off of her probated sentence.

We are taking your calls. Right now, we`re also trying to tally up how many people are trying to make money off Caylee`s dead body, talking about tot mom, her lawyer, Jose Baez. At this point, to my knowledge, nobody has taken them up on that. Nobody wants to actually air their side of the story, which even details, according to our sources, the night Caylee`s skull was sawed open.

You know, Vinnie Politan, to think that Jose Baez recounts the night Caylee`s skull was sawed open for autopsy -- why?

POLITAN: Well, they`re desperate. And here`s what everyone has to realize, and I think the public realizes, is that Casey Anthony is toxic. Nobody likes her. Nobody likes the result of this. Perhaps the only market for this might be the 12 jurors who set Casey Anthony free.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Casey Anthony could officially be a free woman.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: And at midnight. That`s when her probation on the check fraud conviction set to end.

ANTHONY: And I`m extremely excited.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: She was serving probation because of the check fraud conviction. She pleaded guilty to them.

ANTHONY: Very exciting.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Prison officials ruled that she has satisfied all the requirements. And again, that probation should end on schedule.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: She`s been staying in a residence in Florida, and don`t expect her to suddenly walk out at the stroke of midnight.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: She can`t go out. She won`t go out. She`s not going to be seen anywhere in public.

UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: She was acquitted on murder charges in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

CASEY ANTHONY, ACQUITTED OF MURDER CHARGES: Kind of funny to think about actually. I don`t know. This has just been such a blessing in so many ways.

UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: The clock it is ticking on here being a completely free woman.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: In final time Casey is free.

ANTHONY: Here`s what I think. It`s the end of the first. Just the beginning.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

NANCY GRACE, HLN HOST: In just a few hours tot mom Casey Anthony set to walk free. Off probation. Maybe to your neighborhood. As her lawyers say to do, quote, "whatever she wants."

Out to Robyn Walensky, anchor and reporter of "The Blaze," author of "Beautiful Life: The CSI Behind the Casey Anthony Trial."

Robyn, again, thank you for being with us. You cover the trial every single day. I noticed that her lawyers say that she won`t be seen in public. Well, her video journal, they`ve already leaked that to the public on more than one occasion. They`ve been peddling a movie about her. Books about her. How can they say she`s not going to be seen in public?

ROBYN WALENSKY, ANCHOR/REPORTER, THE BLAZE: It`s a great question. She`s going to be out there somewhere. Again, Nancy, unless she leaves the country. And, you know, it reminds us that, you know, she`s 26 years old. Think about that. She`s 26. And little Caylee, just a week or so ago, would have turned 7, Nancy. Caylee is six feet under. Casey is free to breathe the air and do whatever she wants.

A few days ago I was at the swamp scene in Orlando where I did live shots for your show last year and I called it then the worst place on earth. And it still is, Nancy. You know, when you think of the demise of this little girl being tripled bagged and then thrown like garbage into that scene. Right now that scene is now overgrown and it looked to me -- I had the chills when I was there a few days ago because it looks like it must have looked to Casey when she dumped the body there. And we cannot forget lost in this discussion that this little girl is gone forever.

GRACE: You know what? It just seems as if everyone has forgotten the spot where her body was disposed, has now grown over, Robyn Walensky. It`s as if nothing happened. I`m sure that neighborhood is back to normal. I could put money on if I were a betting person, one person`s life is not back to normal is Cindy Anthony. Cindy and George Anthony, Robyn Walensky.

WALENSKY: That`s for sure. I went by the house, Nancy. And you know there was no one around. The neighbors there, I`ll tell you, are still very angry. They don`t want any part of her, meaning Casey Anthony. But you know what struck me when I looked at the house and I took a picture of it, there is a flag that is flying and it has a little butterfly on it. It looks like -- most likely Cindy put a new flag outside the home and the butterfly was a little symbol that little Caylee loved and you were there, Nancy, you remember that Cindy Anthony in court would wear a little butterfly style jewelry in memory of Caylee.

So, you know, the sentiment there is so sad and right across the street from that swamp scene is that little elementary school where little Caylee should start school, you know, right now during this season.

GRACE: You know what, Robyn, you really just touched a core because today, this morning, was the twins` first day at their new school. And they were all excited. And I was taking them in. And on the way from dropping them off, I just prayed how grateful I was that they had lived because they were so sick when they were born. And that they had finally gotten at least to this point, and when I think about what you just said, I hadn`t thought of that. That she would be in school right now, Robyn.

WALENSKY: Seven years old. In elementary school. A beautiful little girl who was so loved. And at the swamp scene, Nancy, there is a cross and there`s these, you know, little pinwheels that represent all of the missing and deceased children, people have put them there to remember all of the children in America that have been snatched and killed this year, and it is just very touching.

I went back there, you know, sort of to pay my respects and to see what was going on and people still are leaving teddy bears and little crosses. It`s a very sad situation. And it`s very troublesome that Casey is going free this evening.

GRACE: When you speak of that scene, Robyn Walensky, I recall the crime scene myself. And that the investigators were literally on their hands and knees sifting through the dirt going through the mud to try and find all of over 200 of little Caylee`s bones. Right down to the little bone in the digit in your little finger.

We are taking your calls, out to Rhonda in Arizona. Hi, Rhonda. What`s your question?

RHONDA, CALLER FROM ARIZONA: Hi, Nancy. I just have a question about if she -- since she`s going to be free and everything, is she going to be able to get a passport to go out of the country and if she is able to get a passport to go out of the country? That would be my best guess right there because she`s a little too close to her attorney, Jose Baez, too close for comfort for me.

GRACE: You know, that theory has been bandied about forever that they were involved in some kind of an affair. I don`t know. I don`t know anything about that. But you know, that observation has been made by many, many people. I know that he`s married. That`s what I know about that.

To Greg McKeithen, defense attorney and former prosecutor. Isn`t it true that she will now be able to get a passport?

GREG MCKEITHEN, DEFENSE ATTORNEY: Absolutely, Nancy. Remember the jury has spoken. This lady has been found not guilty. She has been acquitted. All terms and conditions of her probation have apparently been satisfied. The state has no further jurisdiction over her. Yes, that is true. She is now eligible to get a passport, leave the United States and travel abroad as a free woman. Let`s respect the verdict of the jury.

GRACE: Tonight our family album showcasing our photos from Disney. Here we all are on a Disney cruise. This was pirate night, as you can see that hook and there we are with the captain and the first mate and we meet Minnie. There`s Snow White, I believe. John David was asking for a date. More of pirate night. That last shot of pirate night. Those were the best shots of all.

Everybody, share your photos through our iReport. Just go to family album at hlnTV.com then click on "Nancy Grace`s Family Album."

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ANTHONY: In my gut I know she`s still OK. I can feel it, mom.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: This is not a murder case. This is a sad, tragic accident.

ROY KRONK, METER READER WHO FOUND CAYLEE ANTHONY`S REMAINS: I`m in the wooded area down by the school. I need you like now. I just found a human skull.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Who has her? Do you have a name?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Her name is Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Why didn`t you call 31 days ago?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I have been looking for her. And have gone through other resources to try to find her.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: She was just down the street. Dead. The little 2-year-old body was rotting as tot mom continued to live her life as a swinging single.

We are taking your calls. Let`s see that live webcam, Liz. See any movement down there. We have a live webcam down there in Florida as tot mom is set to walk free as her lawyers say completely free to do anything she wants. She`s been on probation for a check fraud case and for lying to police. That all ends tonight at midnight.

We are taking your calls. Caprell in North Carolina. Hi, Caprell. What`s your question?

CAPRELL, CALLER FROM NORTH CAROLINA: Hi, Nancy. My question is just basically where is Casey going to live? She`s not going to reside in Florida with all of the things going on and also does she have -- is there any kind of job that she can possibly get even though she does have this record and also reputation that she does have?

GRACE: You know, Out to Ellie Jostad, our chief editorial producer on all of the forms she has filled out, thus far she always has written unemployed, unemployed, unemployed. I got them all right here. She has to fill these out for probation. They are public record. Can you answer that question for Caprell, Elle?

ELLIE JOSTAD, NANCY GRACE CHIEF EDITORIAL PRODUCER: Well, we don`t know where she`s going to get a job. And her attorneys have actually said this is a big problem. They said, who`s going to hire her. Her attorney, though, did say she has done some work as sort of a clerk, not outside the home but clerked in some capacity for the people she`s been staying with as -- you know, on and off during this probationary period.

GRACE: Ellie, what do you mean by that, clerk?

JOSTAD: Yes, I don`t know what he tries to -- what he means by that. To me when I hear the word clerk, if it`s not outside the house, I`m thinking, is she clerking for an attorney or a judge or is it some sort of secretarial work? It`s really not clear, Nancy, and we haven`t gotten elaboration from the defense team on that.

GRACE: Unleash the lawyers, Bill Sheaffer, Christine Grillo, Darryl Cohen, Greg McKeithen.

Bill Sheaffer, you`re right there in the eye of the storm. What`s the word? Where is tot mom headed? What is she going to do?

BILL SHEAFFER, DEFENSE ATTORNEY, WFTV LEGAL ANALYST: Think maybe she`ll move to the West Coast. Could always get in the adult entertainment industry. They might take her with open arms. But I think --

GRACE: Well, if you recall --

SHEAFFER: -- the choices are rather limited.

GRACE: Well, if you recall, Bill Sheaffer, she had that offer, I think it was from Vivid Entertainment, is that right, Clark? Yes, to do a porn movie.

SHEAFFER: Yes, well, maybe now she`ll take them up on it since she can`t get any legitimate employment anywhere.

GRACE: You know what, I don`t think she`ll have to do that. I think that she is going to go on and live her life and that there will be no repercussions whatsoever for Caylee`s murder. That`s what I think.

Out to you --

SHEAFFER: Nancy, you don`t believe in karma?

GRACE: What?

SHEAFFER: You don`t believe in karma? Come on.

GRACE: Maybe not in this world.

SHEAFFER: You can`t believe that she is going to go --

GRACE: Maybe not in this world.

SHEAFFER: My gosh. Well, I hope that you`re wrong.

GRACE: You know what, I did believe in it until that not guilty verdict. I really did. I didn`t agree with the O.J. verdict, but I understood why the jury did what they did. They didn`t believe any of the police. The police had a bad reputation. They loved O.J. Simpson or the idea of him. They got angry at the prosecution. They got angry at some of the cops on the stand. And he walked free.

It was the perfect storm. All right. So I can rationalize in my mind even though I didn`t agree with it, I understood why they did that.

To you, Darryl Cohen. Tot mom completely different -- completely different ball of wax.

DARRYL COHEN, DEFENSE ATTORNEY: Nancy, she is a different ball of wax. But we have to keep in mind the jury said she`s not guilty. So what happens now? I think she`s going to stay in Florida. She can go to work for Jose Baez. There`s a million things she can do or she can go do her Vivid film in L.A.

GRACE: To you, Steve Helling, writer with "People" magazine, author of "Outrage: The Casey Anthony Story."

Steve, you`re telling me right now that MSNBC has already aired a special by Baez that he was showing?

STEVE HELLING, STAFF WRITER, PEOPLE MAGAZINE: Yes. There was -- there was a special that was called "Defending Casey Anthony" that aired on MSNBC in mid-July. And basically it talked about exactly what the defense team did to get Casey off.

GRACE: And what did they say?

HELLING: Well, you know, it was a lot of explaining about their legal tactics that they did, you know, how they felt about, you know, the prosecution. You know, obviously there`s no love lost between Jose Baez and the prosecution.

You know, so it was pretty brutal to the prosecutors that they didn`t have their ducks in a row, that type of thing. And then the bottom line is that the special just talked about how, you know, whether you like it or not, Casey Anthony is a free woman.

GRACE: Was the story in there about how -- about 3:00 a.m. in the morning they sawed Caylee`s head open?

HELLING: No, not exactly. They did talk about -- Jose did talk about how he had to go get a saw to, you know, open up the skull.

GRACE: Wait now. Let me make sure. Was it complete with details all about Baez himself, how he went out and had to go to something like an all- night Wal-mart or -- something that was open 24 hours, at 3:00 a.m. so the press wouldn`t know and buys a hacksaw. And as he`s standing in line he looks over and he sees a tabloid with tot mom`s picture on the front and he`s thinking, wow, here I am in a checkout line buying a hacksaw for the autopsy and there it is in the tabloid, isn`t this crazy? Was that story in there?

HELLING: Not with as much vivid detail as you`ve just given. That`s all in -- of course in Mr. Baez`s book. But you know, that is -- yes, I mean, that was a crazy time and that is, you know, talked about.

GRACE: To C.W. Jensen, retired police captain. C.W., you`ve seen so many defendants come and go. Will she repeat offense, C.W.?

C.W. JENSEN, RETIRED PORTLAND POLICE CAPTAIN: I would say if I was in Vegas, Nancy, and I had to make a bet, one way or the other, I would have to bet that she is going to screw up somehow. You know, she`s going to do something else. And I think it`s great what you`re doing today to make people remember about Caylee and make people remember about other children that are missing. But remember, she hasn`t had to drink for a year, she hasn`t done drugs or she hasn`t done crime for a year.

There`s tens of millions of Americans that do that every single day. So in effect, those people freed her the day they found her not guilty. That`s sad.

UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: Casey Anthony allegedly goes into hiding with a Florida pastor and his family after her trial. In an alleged voicemail exclusively obtained by radaronline.com, the pastor`s wife allegedly slams tot mom for what she calls her selfishness, saying, quote, "It is Friday night. I just listened to your conversation with Steve when you hung up on him. I want you to know something. You are dealing with the wrong person when you`re dealing with Jose. He is the one that gives us up.

"This is no longer about you. I`ve had media parked out front at the end of my driveway for the last 48 hours. People are protesting. They`re throwing rocks. They`re coming up to the door. Some guys are leaving you notes and love letters. This is not about you. This is about our church. This is about my family. My daughter`s picture has been on the Internet and Steve hasn`t said a word. Not one word.

"People are writing the most vial, repulsive things to him via e-mail and Twitter and Facebook and it`s just disgusting. He has not said a word. You are siding with the wrong person. Jose is going to do you wrong. He has already done you wrong. He`s sold us out and we know it for a fact. I don`t care if you don`t want to hear it. That is a fact. You have a church here. You have people that care about you and have protected you.

"We haven`t said a word, until, all of a sudden, it would be very very good to know that you were just going to up and leave four days ago. We could have made a very simple statement and avoided all this hassle, but this is unbelievable to me and I think you seriously need to rethink and seriously pray about what you`re doing."

GRACE: Tot mom set to walk free on probation in a couple of hours. We`ve got a webcam down there in Florida to see if we can determine which way she`s headed.

Out to Michelle in -- Michelle? Hi. Are you there? What is your question, dear?

MICHELLE, CALLER Hi. Well, first of all, Nancy, I just want to say me and my girlfriend, Christi, we love you and your twins.

GRACE: Thank you. Thank you.

MICHELLE: And our question is, if Casey Anthony done everything she has to do to be completely free of all of her conditions and charges?

GRACE: Good question. What do we know, Steve Helling?

HELLING: Yes, she has. She has done everything that the court required her to do and she`s done her time, according to the court. So there`s nothing more that she has to do, she is free, as of midnight tonight, a few hours from now.

UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: Probation on the check fraud conviction set to end.

ANTHONY: The thing is that things are starting to look up and things are starting to change, in a good way.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: How will her life be different now that she is off probation?

To Dr. William Morrone, one question. With the degree of knockout drug found in tot mom`s trunk, was there any doubt in your mind that that body had been in the trunk for a long period of time?

DR. WILLIAM R. MORRONE, MEDICAL EXAMINER; FORENSIC PATHOLOGIST, TOXICOLOGIST: Absolutely not and even with medical professionals, those drugs and chemicals are very difficult to control and she was a layperson. So it was -- it was critical, it was fatal.

GRACE: Let`s stop, everyone. Right now let`s remember our American hero, Army Staff Sergeant Thomas Rabjohn, 39, Litchfield Park, Arizona, killed, Afghanistan. Bronze Star, Purple Heart, National Defense Service medal. A police officer, also served Marines.

Loved remote control cars, camping, riding quads. Favorite holiday? Christmas. Leaves behind parents, Thomas and Patty. Sisters, Jean and Nancy, brother Brian. Daughters, Kylie, Corey and Kelsey.

Thomas Rabjohn, American hero.

Thanks to our guests but especially to you for being with us. Happy 9th to South Carolina friend, Drake.

Dr. Drew up next, everyone. I`ll see you tomorrow night, 8:00 sharp Eastern. And until then, good night, friend.
