Why We`re Obsessed with Jessica Simpson, Pippa Middleton, Honey Boo- Boo, Steve Harvey, Tom Cruise; `The New Normal` Met with Protests

Aired September 06, 2012 - 23:00   ET

THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

A.J. HAMMER, HOST: Tonight the "SHOWBIZ Countdown," "We`re Obsessed." Jessica Simpson`s new weight confession. The blockbuster fame of Honey Boo-Boo. Pippa Middleton, the princess of New York City? Well, tonight we are counting down the top five stars that everyone is totally obsessed with.

Thank you for watching. I`m A.J. Hammer with two -- yes, two -- big "SHOWBIZ Countdowns" tonight, including the "Hollywood Ex-Files." Big news breaking today about big money for the ex-wives of Kelsey Grammer and Mel Gibson. And new revelations about Tom Cruise`s ex-, Katie Holmes. We`re here to count down the top five most exciting ex- files.

We begin with the "SHOWBIZ Countdown" of our top five obsessions tonight, and yes, that also includes Tom Cruise and a fascinating brand-new insight today about the actress the Church of Scientology allegedly tried to recruit to become his wife before, of course, he got together with Katie Holmes, something the church denies.

So let`s kick off our countdown at No. 5. This is our No. 5 obsession tonight. Jessica Simpson`s candid confession that she`s actually having trouble dropping her post-baby weight. She`s a spokesperson for Weight Watchers. Listen to what she tells "USA Today:" "My body is not bouncing back like a supermodel. I`m just your everyday woman who is trying to feel good and be healthy for her daughter, her fiance and herself."

Everybody is talking about Jessica today, but why are people so obsessed with her weight? Joining me now from Hollywood, Mary Murphy. Mary, of course, is a judge on "So You Think You Can Dance?" In Chicago tonight, Kelli Zink, the host of CelebTV.com. Great to have you both here.

And now, it`s been four months since Jessica had her baby. She admits the pounds aren`t just melting away so easy. Mary, do you get why people are so obsessed with Jessica`s weight?

MARY MURPHY, JUDGE, "SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE?": Hey, just listen, she is a cultural icon. She`s one of the wealthiest women in America. She`s absolutely drop-dead gorgeous, and of course, when somebody really gets up there, you know, high up that a lot of people just want to kind of chop them down at their knees a lot of times. Let the girl have a Twinkie, for God`s sakes and our macaroni and cheese.

You know, she has never, by the way, looked extremely overweight whatsoever, but it is hard to lose weight after you have a child. I`ve never had one, and I`m having a hard time losing weight. You know, so God bless her, you know? Jeez Louise. Let her have a -- you know, leave her alone.

HAMMER: I like the Twinkie idea, frankly, and the mac and cheese.

It`s not just us. It`s not just the public. The ladies of "The View" are also obsessed with Jessica. They were today on their show. In fact, Sherri Shepherd revealed why she is loving Jessica`s confession. Watch this with me.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SHERRI SHEPHERD, CO-HOST, ABC`S "THE VIEW": It`s so hard. It gets a little discouraging for people who have babies, because you look at all of these celebrities, and they have a baby. And oh, my gosh, they bounce back and they`re skinny and they`re running and they`re doing -- and just makes it like you feel like you`re the pariah.

So I think -- I love that Jessica Simpson is being honest and saying, "This is hard to do. It really is." You go, girl.

ELISABETH HASSELBECK, CO-HOST, ABC`S "THE VIEW": It`s harder than having babies.

BARBARA WALTERS, CO-HOST, ABC`S "THE VIEW": Doesn`t she have a deal with one of the weight...

SHEPHERD: She has a deal with Weight Watchers. Even still, when you`re making a lot of money, it doesn`t matter; it`s hard to do.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: That`s right, Sherri Shepherd. Hard to do.

Now listen, we know that Jessica has all the money she needs to hire trainers or chefs or personal weight consultants if she wanted to, but Kelly, isn`t it nice to know Jessica, at least in this way, is as real as the rest of us?

KELLI ZINK, HOST, CELEBTV.COM: Yes. She`s doing it through Weight Watchers, and I think one of the reasons we`re so obsessed with her weight is because we`ve seen her yo-yo even before she was pregnant, and I think we can all relate to that. And it`s nice to see a celebrity who has been in a pink bikini looking amazing. I think it`s kind of comforting to the rest of us to think, hey, even celebrities can gain weight, too.

So we`re all rooting for you, Jessica, and you`re hot, no matter what.

HAMMER: Yes. We continue to root for you. And I just wish people would leave you the heck alone about it.

All right. But let`s move on right now to No. 4 of our big obsessions today. Oh, I love this. Is Pippa Middleton about to become a New Yorker? Could she wind up being a neighbor of mine?

Pippa actually turned 29 today. I`m thinking what a gift that would be. Pippa spotted in Manhattan this week with someone that the paparazzi say is a real-estate agent. Adding fuel to the fire, she`s apparently hanging out with New York Rangers hockey player Sean Avery and a pro tennis player. Is that why she might be making the move?

Clearly, people are simply obsessed with this idea. I would say our obsession with Pippa moving to New York would be less of a train wreck, perhaps, than our No. 3 obsession on the "SHOWBIZ Countdown." This is also crazy to me, Honey Boo-Boo. The 7-year-old "Toddlers and Tiaras" star is a huge hit. I mean, the numbers are enormous here. Today we learned how much money Honey Boo-Boo and her family might be making from their hit TLC show, "Here Comes Honey Boo-Boo."

ALANA "HONEY BOO-BOO" THOMPSON, REALITY TV STAR: I want to win the biggest trophy with a lot of money!

What I want is money!

A dollar, dollar makes me holler. A dollar, dollar makes me holler. A dollar, dollar makes me holler. Money!

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: (UNINTELLIGIBLE)

THOMPSON: I`m going to win the whole pageant.

The judges are going to be, Honey Boo-Boo child. The judges are going to be, Honey Boo-Boo child.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Look, the ratings are through the roof on this thing. More than 3 million people a week are watching. A brand-new report says that Honey Boo-Boo and her family earn an incredible 2 to $4,000 per episode.

I got to tell you, I`m a little freaked out that there is such a draw to this, Mary. Do you get the obsession?

MURPHY: Well, I`m not sure if I get it or want to get it, but, you know, it hasn`t been since Yogi Bear and Boo-Boo. It`s just even fun to say that word. Honey Boo-Boo. Honey Boo-Boo. You know, everybody is saying it. It`s fun to say.

But I must say, you know, it is a little bit of a hot mess, but it`s a very interesting family. And Jeff Foxworthy must be making a fortune off of this show, because this is the epitome of rednecks abandonment, you know what I mean? They just put it all out there, and we`re all sitting there, soaking it up.

HAMMER: Yes, I just feel like -- it makes me sad. I think people are tuning in for all the wrong reasons. So...

MURPHY: No. You`re absolutely right. I think you got that, that it is the wrong reason, it`s the state of the nation right now. What can I say?

HAMMER: That is true. Honey Boo-Boo is not the only one having a ratings extravaganza. I`m actually really about our No. 2 big obsession on our "SHOWBIZ Countdown" today. It`s the incredible debut of Steve Harvey`s talk show this week.

Steve had the biggest daytime debut since Dr. Oz in 2009, and he just told me about why he thinks people need him on the air. I`ve got a headline-making "SHOWBIZ Newsmaker" interview you do not want to miss with Steve. That is coming up a bit later tonight on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

But now time to reveal the story we are most obsessed about in our "SHOWBIZ Countdown." It`s Tom Cruise`s alleged mystery girlfriend, actress Nazanin Boniadi. She`s the woman a brand-new "Vanity Fair" article claims was recruited by the Church of Scientology to be Tom Cruise`s girlfriend back in 2004.

But the question is, who exactly is she? I`m here to fill you in.

She`s 32 years old. She was born in Iran. She was raised in London. She`s an honors graduate from U.C. Irvine in bioscience, and here`s where you may have seen her. Her big break came on "General Hospital." She also starred as Neil Patrick Harris` girlfriend, Nora, on "How I Met Your Mother." Those were nine episodes. She has appeared in "Iron Man," "Charlie Wilson`s War," and she also starred in an espresso ad with the great George Clooney. Let`s watch that.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

NAZANIN BONIADI, ACTRESS: I think I have something that belongs to you.

GEORGE CLOONEY, ACTOR: Me, too. Where do you want to meet?

BONIADI: That`s incredible. I always imagined you to be much more...

CLOONEY: Taller?

BONIADI: No, no, much more Ostretto (ph). Good night, Mr. Decafeinato.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: I knew I recognized her. Look, she`s obviously doing pretty well for herself, but let`s face it: she wasn`t a household name until now. So here`s our "SHOWBIZ Flashpoint." Should Nazanin capitalize on this moment by maybe speaking out? Kelli, what do you think?

ZINK: Absolutely not. I mean, if you look at this girl`s resume, not only is she well-educated, she`s won awards for charity work. And she seems like she really has her stuff together. I believe that the people who take the slow path the right way will explode in the end. I don`t think she should go the route of the tabloids and talking. Just keep it private, and she`ll be rewarded for her talents.

HAMMER: Well, we`ll see if she decides to capitalize on it or not. Or not. Tom Cruise denying that she was recruited by the church, and the Church of Scientology is calling the whole "Vanity Fair" story hogwash. We`ll see where it goes from here.

Mary Murphy, Kelli Zink, thank you both so much.

And don`t forget to watch Mary murphy on "So You Think You Can Dance" Tuesday nights on FOX.

Well, tonight, one "SHOWBIZ Countdown" simply not enough. We`re counting down and counting the money with "The Ex-Files" tonight. Camille Grammer has 30 million new reasons to say good riddance to her ex, Kelsey. Mel Gibson`s ex is saying sayonara for 100 million ways tonight.

Wait until you see this "SHOWBIZ Countdown," "The Ex-Files." But which Hollywood ex`s dramatic new move is going to land them at the top of the heap?

Plus, it is the most talked-about show on TV, and it hasn`t even aired yet. I`m talking about "The New Normal" and why this show is sparking coast-to-coast controversy. Tonight I`ve got an all-new "SHOWBIZ Newsmaker" interview with the star of this terrific show. They tell me what they think about all this drama that is floating around their program.

This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Well, tonight we are getting a look at Evelyn Lozada`s most intimate interview yet. Reality star, estranged wife of Chad Ochocinco Johnson will be on the new OWN series, "Iyanla: Fix My Life." Famed life coach Iyanla Vanzant isn`t sugarcoating a thing when it comes to Evelyn`s marriage mess.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

IYANLA VANZANT, HOST, "IYANLA: FIX MY LIFE": You are being rewarded for being a thug among women. How did you get two stitches in your forehead living in a hotel?

I`ve learned that I can ignore a push and a shove, but when he messes with my image, oh, no, we`ve got problems. Let me ask you, where is Chad?

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Wow. And speaking of Chad Johnson, he`s going public with a major declaration tonight. The details are still ahead in the "SHOWBIZ Countdown," "The Ex-Files."

By the way, the two-part season premiere of "Iyanla: Fix My Life" with Evelyn Lozada will begin airing next Saturday.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JUSTIN BARTHA, ACTOR: I don`t know. My dad screwed me up pretty good. What do you think two dads would do to a kid? You really think it`s such a good idea to bring a kid in the world with such a non-traditional family?

ANDREW RANNELLS, ACTOR: I know somebody else from a non-traditional family: an African-American who was raised by a grandma. And that person seems to be doing just fine.

BARTHA: Oh, yes. Barack Obama.

RANNELLS: Mariah Carey.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: It`s "The New Normal" and I can tell you it is the most talked-about TV show that is sparking a whole lot of controversy, only no one has seen it yet. So what the heck is going on?

What do you get when you add a single woman and a gay male couple who are trying to have a baby? Well, I can tell you it is one hilarious show. I`ve seen it, I know.

Only, some people are not finding the premise of it so funny. "The New Normal" stars Andrew Rannells, Justin Bartha, Georgia King and Ellen Barkin. It centers around a gay couple using a surrogate to help them have a baby.

Well, one NBC affiliate station in Salt Lake City, Utah, has decided they`re not going to carry the show. The group "One Million Moms" has been protesting the show ever since they first learned about it. So what do the stars think about all the drama? Watch what happened when I asked them.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: Sadly, here we are in 2012. The premise of the show, the fact that Andrew and Justin, you guys play an openly affectionate gay couple having a baby with a surrogate, and that has upset people. One station in Salt Lake City, as you guys know, refused to run the show, although another one did fortunately pick it up.

Andrew, you`re openly gay in real life. Isn`t it still just disturbing to you that, in this day and age, this is still an issue?

RANNELLS: Yes. I mean, I think that it`s -- it`s a little disappointing. Yes, it`s kind of a bummer that that`s sort of what we were greeted with, because I mean, having worked so closely with show and seeing the pilot, sort of, you know, what I took away from it and my family took away from it when they saw it was just that it was a story about the love that it takes to start a family.

So yes, it was a little -- it was disappointing to be met with opposition, particularly because, you know, most of that opposition came from groups of people who hadn`t even seen the pilot that I think were basing this on solely, like, a two-sentence description of what the premise of the show was.

So it is disappointing that, in this day and age, that that alone is enough to cause controversy. Because I think after seeing the show, you would see that it`s actually not very controversial at all.

HAMMER: Yes. Well, let`s help people out right now, because personally I think that everyone who may have a problem with the show or the premise of the show simply needs to watch this. Roll that, Charles.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

BARTHA: So why, then, does a beautiful, smart, seemingly sane person want to gestate someone else`s child?

GEORGIA KING, ACTRESS: Thirty-five thousand dollars is a huge chunk of money. I need a way to change my daughter`s life. I want to go to law school some day.

BARTHA: And you have no problem doing this for two men? No moral issue with that?

KING: No, I requested a gay couple. I was driving and I overheard a deranged homeless woman saying not so nice things about a lesbian couple, and all I could think was a family is a family, and love is love.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Right there you got me in the heart. The show did its job. If that doesn`t say it all, I don`t know what does.

And the show does do a great job at addressing people`s discomfort with the idea of a gay couple having a baby. Justin, we know you so well from your great role as Doug Billings in the "Hangover" movies, of course. Are you bothered, now that you`re in this fray, that some people are bothered by this?

BARTHA: No, I`m not bothered at all. I mean, I -- you know, that`s the -- one of the great things about our country, is that everyone can have their own opinions. And hopefully, touching on what Andrew said, that it`s an informed opinion, I think that the differences in viewpoints is a lot of what our show is about.

And I just hope it can cause some kind of discourse in conversation the day after they watch it, because I think that that`s the kind of television I grew up watching. You can`t wait to talk about it with your friends. And love it or hate it, it`s -- hopefully, we`re giving you something to talk about.

HAMMER: And more good news for you. I think a lot of people are going to be able to see the show. They`re going to run into it even if they weren`t planning on it, because it was originally set to premier next Tuesday. It got bumped up to a day to a pretty cool time slot on Monday night right after the return of "The Voice." Are you all getting together, having a big viewing party to watch the first show, Justin?

BARTHA: We haven`t talked about that, but I want to take this opportunity -- thank you for bringing it up -- to invite you over to my house to watch the premier of "The New Normal."

KING: When is that?

BARTHA: When is it? It`s after "The Voice" on Monday, September 10.

KING: Monday the 10th?

BARTHA: And then to its normal slot on Tuesday, September 11 at 9:30.

KING: You guys can come around and have tea with me on Tuesday.

BARTHA: Done.

HAMMER: See, here I am. I`m here to help. I`m here to help and to facilitate and put you guys together out of the workplace. Great to talk to all of you.

BARTHA: You hammered it out.

HAMMER: OK. That`s what I`m here to do. I`ve never heard that before. Congratulations again, guys. Best of luck.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: All right. We move on tonight to Simon Cowell, the crybaby? Well, Simon is whining that NBC is out to get him and his show, "The X Factor." The ultimate TV bully accusing someone else of being a bully. Nice. We`ll explain.

And revenge is a dish best served fashionably. Why Katie Holmes` post-Tom Cruise life may actually be better than her days being married to the biggest action star in the world. Katie is not the only Hollywood ex making out like a bandit tonight. But will she come out on top tonight? In the SHOWBIZ Countdown, "The Ex Files."

This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN. Release fragrance

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: From the Super Bowl XLII championship team, Giants great Michael Strahan.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: There`s a beaming Michael Strahan, celebrating his old gig as a New York Giant as the team raise their banner for their Super Bowl XLVI win.

It`s certainly been a banner week for Michael, who debuted as the new co-host on "Live with Kelly and Michael." And tonight SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you the excitement does not end there.

You can call him Mighty Michael. And I was right there for Michael`s big debut with Kelly Ripa on Tuesday. I can tell you the energy in the studio was simply off the charts. And apparently, that`s what everyone at home was feeling, too, because the ratings for the new duo were up nearly 50 percent from last year, the same time when the show was still "Live with Regis and Kelly." And that is fantastic news for our friends over at "Live," especially for Michael, who confessed to me what was giving him nerves before taking his first steps out onto the "Live" stage as Kelly`s official new sidekick.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MICHAEL STRAHAN, CO-HOST, ABC`s "LIVE WITH KELLY AND MICHAEL": You know, I was more nervous coming in on the first show. And everyone said, "Well, are you nervous?" I wasn`t nervous about doing the show. I`m so comfortable with Kelly. Love Kelly. I mean, it`s like we just have this thing where we can sit here all day and entertain whoever is watching, so that was never a thing to be nervous about.

The only thing I was nervous about was tripping, getting out of the car, and just trying -- that initial, OK, here is the new guy.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: And he`s doing just fine. The new guy may still have some work to do, though, because -- well, look at this picture. Just moments after Michael`s debut with Kelly, this picture was taken. And we thought we would have fun with this photo tonight in a new segment we`re calling "Say What?" And that`s where you come in.

I want you to fill in the thought bubbles here. What do you think was really going through Kelly and Michael`s heads at this exact moment? Here`s what you have to do. Go to HLNTV.com/SHOWBIZTonight with your answers. We will reveal our favorite answers right here tomorrow night, 11 p.m. Eastern and Pacific on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

And what`s coming up at the bottom of the hour on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, the "SHOWBIZ Countdown," "The Ex-Files." Camille Grammer cashes in. Mel Gibson`s ex gets nearly half a billion dollars. Tonight, the dramatic and stunning new developments in the most high-profile star splits. Wait until you see what`s going on with these people.

This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Right now on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, the incredible debut of the Steve Harvey talk show.

I know you`re doing your own thing out there in the TV daytime talk show world, but who do you see as your biggest competitors?

Steve just had the biggest daytime debut since Dr. Oz. Tonight, he`s revealing to me why he thinks no one else on TV is like him.

Plus, the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT Countdown, "The Ex-Files." We`re counting down the five brand-new shocking developments in Hollywood break-ups. Is Camille Grammer really getting $30 million? Well, she`s got nothing on Mel Gibson`s ex and her settlement, worth hundreds of millions. Plus, new revelations today about how Katie Holmes is about to make millions...

AJ HAMMER, HLN HOST (voice-over): We`re counting down the five brand- new shocking developments in Hollywood`s biggest break-ups.

Is Camille Grammer really getting $30 million? But she`s got nothing on Mel Gibson`s ex on her settlement worth hundreds of millions.

Plus new revelations today about how Katie Holmes is about to make millions with her famous face, all without her ex Tom Cruise. But which ex files shocker will make its way to the top on tonight`s SHOWBIZ countdown? SHOWBIZ TONIGHT continues right now.

(MUSIC PLAYING)

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. Thanks for watching. I`m AJ Hammer and now on tonight`s SHOWBIZ countdown on the ex files, we`re kicking things off at number five with Chad`s high hopes. Take a very close look at these brand new twit pics.

This is former football star Chad Johnson`s leg with a new tattoo of the soon-to-be ex-wife Evelyn Lozada. It`s Chad`s seemingly desperate last-ditch effort to win Evelyn back after he was arrested for allegedly attacking her two weeks ago during a domestic dispute, leading for her to file for divorce after simply 41 days of marriage.

Chad has since deleted the pictures, but that tattoo, that ain`t going anywhere. Without a little laser help, anyway. So we have got to ask, oh, Chad, what were you thinking, man?

Let me bring back from Hollywood Mary Murphy. She`s a judge on "So You Think You Can Dance" also "Hollywood Tonight`s" Kim Serafin, a senior editor with "In Touch Weekly."

So apparently this was Chad`s way of showing his love and dedication to Evelyn, Mary, trying to win her back with a tattoo. I`m thinking not happening, Chad. What about you?

MARY MURPHY, SR. EDITOR, "IN TOUCH WEEKLY": I don`t think it`s going to happen, either. Are you crazy, a tattoo? What, she`s just going to go, oh, my gosh, after he beat me up, he did a tattoo. Oh, I`ve just got to put on my high heels and run to him. You are crazy! I don`t know what he`s got in his mind.

You`re right about the laser thing. You just better get off. Anyway, we all know the tattoo thing does not work. It just doesn`t.

HAMMER: I guess there are people out there that says, hey, nothing says love like burnt flesh. Let`s not forget for a moment -- let`s not forget that Evelyn, on the serious side, told ABC`s "Nightline" that the marriage is definitely over. Let`s watch how that happened.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

EVELYN LOZADA, ESTRANGED WIFE OF CHAD JOHNSON, : He grabbed right me here and he (inaudible). And all I felt was -- I felt like blood coming down my face.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: How were you feeling at that moment?

EVELYN: Humiliated, embarrassed, in shock. My fairy tale had just ended.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Yes, the fairy tale is definitely over. We can make light of the tattoo. Obviously, a very serious, serious subject here. Somebody asked Chad on Twitter about this tattoo. I want to read to you how he responded. He said, "Divorce? Child, please. That`s my wife."

He also later tweeted another response, saying "I don`t give a flying pretzel in Skittle rainbow hell what she filed for."

Kim, I don`t know. Is he being delusional here, or do you think these exes could actually reunite? Sure didn`t seem that way, coming from Evelyn?

KIM SERAFIN, SR. EDITOR, "IN TOUCH WEEKLY": No. I mean, they seem like they are completely different pages. Listening to her interview and then reading his tweets.

And, look actions speak louder than words or pictures or burnt flesh, as you put it. And clearly, you look at the emotion that she had and what he allegedly did, it doesn`t look like they`re getting back together any time soon, especially considering her interview.

HAMMER: Yes. Go to the laser doctor, get that thing removed, Chad. You`ll feel much better about it in another year.

Chad and Evelyn, just the latest celebrity couple calling it quits. But other Hollywood exes have already signed on the dotted line. And that brings us to our number 4.

It`s Camille cashing in. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT learned today that Camille Grammer will indeed split half of everything with her ex, Kelsey Grammer.

TMZ is reporting that she could walk away with $30 million. We learned today the final numbers won`t be set until final numbers putting everything that they own together.

Mary, everybody gives Camille a lot of credit for getting Kelsey out of his financial hole when they first got married. Don`t you think that maybe she does deserve that money?

MURPHY: Well, absolutely, if that is true, you know, because I heard things were not very good, and then, of course, she picked him up and was kind of the driving force behind getting him financially up above water again, and so, yes, maybe there is something that she does deserve to have a vacation and stop fighting over who is going to be wearing the dress.

HAMMER: Yes. No kidding. That could be a bit of a dispute in that household. And listen, while Camille`s possible $30 million payday could be quite the stunner to some people, it doesn`t even come close to one of the most expensive divorce settlements in Hollywood history.

Listen to this. Coming in at number 3 in the SHOWBIZ countdown, the ex files, Mel Gibson`s mega multi-million dollar ex settlement.

An all-new report now reveals the stunning details of who gets what. Now in addition to splitting an $800 million fortune right down the middle, there is a new report that Gibson`s ex, Robyn, will also get half of the actor`s 401(k) benefits, half of Mel`s Screen Actors Guild pensions benefits and a big chunk of Mel`s Director`s Guild benefits. To Mel and Robyn`s credit, they`ve actually done a pretty decent job settling their affairs privately after all the drama and have kept it pretty civil the entire time. Now, Kim, there was no pre-nup here. She gets half, he gets half. Is there really a loser here, at least when it comes down to the settlement?

SERAFIN: Not in terms of the settlement, no. Obviously loser in terms of the kids and the family and their relationship, but now. In the settlement, it sounds like they did the right thing, you`re right. They kept this very private. It is really amazing that more details have not leaked out about all their negotiations.

But it sounds like it was pretty straightforward. They were married so long. They have so many kids together. This seems like the way to do a divorce. If anyone wants to give Mel credit for anything, give him credit for this. This it the way to do it.

Yes, Kim, Kim, pay attention. Watch what`s happening here, Kim and Chris.

All right. Let`s move on to our SHOWBIZ countdown, the ex files.

Twihards, we feel your pain, but at number 2 tonight, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson have found a place in the SHOWBIZ countdown`s ex files because Robert Pattinson has made his big appearance tonight on the MTV Video Music Awards show.

Kristen Stewart, not on his arm, as I expected, and I think most people did. But not hoped. K-Stew was at the Toronto Film Festival tonight. She is attending the premiere of her new film "On the Road."

Since their split, Robert has done a pretty good job keeping his place in the spotlight, even speaking with SHOWBIZ TONIGHT about how he`s been coping with all the talk about their big break-up. Watch this with me.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ROBERT PATTINSON, ACTOR: Since the first "Twilight," I mean, you enter this kind of realm where everything`s -- where, you know, you get stuff reported by you, and it`s weird. (inaudible).

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It`s a very abstract realm that doesn`t really have a lot to do with personal reality.

PATTINSON: You start having total disassociation.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: People think they know what`s going on and they don`t really know what`s going on.

PATTINSON: And on top of that, loads of people just make it up anyway. It doesn`t make any difference.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: That`s true.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Well, you heard Robert right there, Mary. Do you think that Kristen should take a page from Robert`s book and maybe speak out at least a little?

MURPHY: No, I don`t think so. She`s definitely sending him some messages by wearing his T-shirts and his glasses and, you know, I don`t really know what that`s going to get her, but it is interesting. She is out in the public, she is at a film festival, so it`s not that she`s necessarily hiding or anything like that, but I find it very odd that she still can`t get out of his clothes.

HAMMER: Yes. That is a little strange, I suppose.

All right. That brings us to number 1 in the SHOWBIZ ex files countdown, Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT learned today that Katie has become the first-ever celebrity face for a big beauty campaign for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. She`s got a fashion line. Next week is Fashion Week in New York. She`s working on her new movie.

Kim, it seems to me that post-divorce might be working out better for Katie than the Tom days.

SERAFIN: Yes. I think there was no doubt she would go on to bigger and better things after the divorce, after it was handled so well. She`s doing a Broadway show, she`s working on other projects. This makeup deal is fantastic for her. She`s beautiful. I`m waiting for Suri to get her own makeup deal or little girl`s (inaudible) deal. That`s going to come soon, I`m sure.

(LAUGHTER)

But, you know, this is great, and it sounds like she`s doing the exact right thing. And keeping to herself, going on with her life, moving on. She looks great, sounds like she`s doing great. I think everyone is really happy for her.

HAMMER: Yes, doing exactly what she should be doing. All right, congratulations, Katie.

And thank you Mary Murphy and Kim Serafin. Make sure you catch Mary on "So You Think You Can Dance" Tuesday, September 11th, on FOX. Be sure to check your local listings.

We move on now to the new king of all media. Could it be? He already has a nationwide hit radio show, he hosts the "Family Feud", he`s a best- selling author. Now Steve Harvey`s brand-new talk show debuts to huge ratings.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: I know you`re doing your own thing out there in the TV daytime talk show world, but who do you see as your biggest competitor?

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: So is Steve Harvey taking over the entertainment world? And while Steve`s blowing up on daytime TV, Simon Cowell`s just plain blowing up. Why Simon is furious about a brand-new move to put "The Voice" head- to-head with the "X Factor". Is it really a dirty trick like Simon says? This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

STEVE HARVEY, MEGASTAR: You thought it was a good idea to break up via text?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes, I did. (Inaudible).

HAMMER (voice-over): That is the hardest working man in SHOWBIZ right now. Is there anything that comedian Steve Harvey cannot do?

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: That is one hot Harvey. Steve Harvey, and I`m thinking that the champagne corks are popping right now after the debut of his brand-new syndicated talk show. He definitely has a hit on his hands. At least, it`s looking that way, because the very first episode of his self-titled talk show is the biggest debut TV has seen since Dr. Oz premiered his show back in 2009.

So what is Harvey`s secret to his success? Well, I`ll give you a hint. It`s all in the mustache.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Congratulations on the debut of your new show. I know you`ve done so many incredible things in your career, Steve, but this is new territory for you, and I`ve got to know what has been the biggest eye opener since you started this thing up?

HARVEY: I think it`s a lot of work. You know, I think it`s amazing how much you have to put into a production to pull off an hour show like this. It`s a lot of booking guests and figuring it out and finding the angles. So that`s probably been the thing -- I`m used to working hard, so that was easy for me to do, but this is a different kind of work.

HAMMER: Yes. Just what you need, more work. Let`s talk about your schedule for just a second, Steve, because you spend four hours a day hosting your radio show, the Steve Harvey morning show. You`re still hosting "Family Feud", you`re a best-selling author, now you`re doing a daytime TV show, a very full plate. Some might say that you are now officially now the hardest working man in showbiz, Steve.

So how are you balancing --

HARVEY: You think that would be --

HAMMER: How are you balancing it all, man?

HARVEY: Well, AJ, I am the hardest working man in show business. That is a true statement. And I`m not balancing it all; I`m losing my mind slowly as every day an hour ticks away. So no, I`m not balancing it at all, I`m very imbalanced right now. I`m on medication.

HAMMER: Hey, look, that`s going to make it more entertaining --

HARVEY: No, I`m just kidding.

HAMMER: -- for the viewers. No, of course, listen --

HARVEY: Yes, I tell you what.

HAMMER: Go ahead.

HARVEY: No, I mean, it`s just great right now. There is a lot going on in my life but I tell people all the time. People ask me how I do it and my secret is this. I actually care about every hour of the day. I actually care about each and every hour and I try to fulfill them. I try to fill those minutes with something worthy.

Even when I`m just relaxing or chilling, I account for that time. When I get through chilling, I get back up on the grind and start hustling.

HAMMER: That`s a great philosophy. I hope people pay attention to that. And look, it`s no secret you`re jumping into a pretty crowded pool right now with an almost unprecedented launch of new daytime talk shows.

Of course yours, Katie Couric`s new show. We have Jeff Probst with a new show. Ricki Lake is returning. I know you`re doing your own thing out there in the TV daytime talk show world. But who do you see as your biggest competitor?

HARVEY: I think it`s just myself, really. It`s just me doing what I`ve been doing. I don`t really look at the competition. I think there`s room for everybody, you know. I mean, go do you. You know, we`re not all on the same network, so, I mean, you know, I like Katie. Katie tweeted me the other day. I thought it was really nice of her. She wished me luck, I wished her luck.

Jeff, I wish him well, and then of course I`ve been friends with Ricki Lake. So I love all those guys, but you know, it`s only -- it`s one Steve Harvey. So that`s -- I`m going to roll the dice with that. I`ve got a big mustache and a lot of teeth and I`m going to let them fly and see what that does. And I`m pretty funny and none of them people you named are funnier than me.

(CROSSTALK)

HAMMER: Nor do any of them have the big mustache, so I think you have an edge there. Well, Steve, we`re rooting for you. Congratulations again and best of luck with the new show.

HARVEY: AJ, I sure appreciate it, man. Thank you, everybody, for tuning in.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Can you imagine Katie with that mustache? I love that guy. I don`t know how he does it all, but be sure to check out your local listings for his show, Steve Harvey.

Also in the headlines tonight, Simon Cowell`s complaint. Why the man behind "the "X Factor`s" furious that "The Voice" is going head-to-head with his show this fall. Is it an unfair sneak attack? Or is Simon just being a big old crybaby?

Time now for the SHOWBIZ Buzz List. Here`s what SHOWBIZ staff is buzzing about this week. The living legend Prince just announced that he`s playing two shows in Chicago in late September. Tickets went on sale today through livenation.com. Get your mouse finger clicking.

A brand new Kindle Fire is setting fire to the tablet wars. They cost less and has a bigger screen. Can`t wait to get our hands on this thing.

Reality TV goes highbrow. Well, sort of. Bravo`s new series "Gallery Girls" features the cutthroat business of New York`s commercial art world.

iPhone users, rejoice. We are hearing the new iPhone 5 is expected to be released on September 21st. Reports say it`s going to have a larger screen and a slimmer profile.

And it`s the new normal. I love NBC`s new show all about a gay couple trying to start a family.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Just look at that, just strutting down the middle of Buckeye Road in broad daylight, proud as gay peacocks.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Why shouldn`t they be, Nana?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Don`t call me that. I don`t look old enough to be a grandmother.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Great-grandmother.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I happen to love the gays. I could never get my hair to look this good without them.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Tonight Cowell`s complaints. Has Simon Cowell`s "X Factor" been outfoxed by NBC`s "The Voice?" Well, here`s the deal. "The Voice" just decided to add a third weekly episode of the show. It`s going to run at the exact same time as Cowell`s "X Factor" this fall.

And a brand new report says that Cowell thinks that the move by NBC is an unprofessional sneak attack. TMZ reports that Cowell told them he had a gentleman`s agreement that their shows would not overlap.

Kelly Zink, who hosts celebtv.com joins me from Chicago tonight.

Kelly, I`m not kidding when I say that Simon Cowell seems to be blowing up about "The Voice`s" big move to knock out "X Factor." Listen to what he just told TMZ.

He said, "This is a cynical, cold-hearted, unprofessional way of doing business."

OK. I get that Simon isn`t happy about it, but it is a business, and if NBC wants to put "The Voice" up against "the "X Factor," I`m not exactly sure how this is a dirty trick. So, Kelly, to our SHOWBIZ Flashpoint, is Simon just being a crybaby here?

KELLY ZINK, CELEB.TV: One hundred percent. But let him -- it gets ratings, right? And that`s exactly what these two shows want. They want drama, they want ratings, and everybody is always going to put Britney Spears against Christina Aguilera ever since the days back at the VMAs with the Madonna kiss. Everyone wants these two to be battling it out, so if Simon wants to do it let him.

People have TiVo, they watch both, right?

HAMMER: Yes, that`s true. But to your point about Christina and Britney, Simon claims that his new high-profile "X Factor" judge Britney Spears is going to go ballistic over the fact that she`s going to have to compete directly with "Voice" judge Christina Aguilera.

TMZ says he told them this, "Britney is not going to appreciate the fact that Christina, who has been a bit of a rival, isn`t allowing Britney to have a night of her own."

Now Simon told TMZ that Britney will be devastated over this, Kelly. But do you actually see that happening? Is this going to become a major diva showdown? Will it be about the two of them?

ZINK: I mean, I guarantee Britney Spears is not even on her radar, anywhere near her radar. And if there`s one diva that could mad about any of this, it`s Mariah Carey, because remember, eventually, "American Idol" is going to be in the same sentence with the "X Factor" and "The Voice." So I think Mariah`s the one that care, if anyone.

HAMMER: You don`t think that Britney Spears is aware that she may be competing directly on the same night with Christina Aguilera? You think she`s that far removed from all this?

ZINK: I`ve got to be honest. These days, I think Britney`s focused on her wedding, her children and just trying keeping her job.

HAMMER: Yes, that makes a lot of sense.

Listen, the creator of "The Voice," Mark Burnett (ph), did say today that the move was in no way designed to steal the spotlight from Britney. So, Kelly, with it coming down to people perhaps having to decide whether to watch Britney or Christina, say they`re not taping them or TiVoing them, who are you choosing?

ZINK: I mean, come on, Britney Spears, 100 percent all the way. The "X Factor`s" also more interesting to me, even though I do love me some Adam Levine (ph). Britney wins hands down.

HAMMER: Hands down. And is that because you like her so much or because you just want to see what she`s going to say or do?

ZINK: Both. I mean, you never know with Britney. I have a feeling that her fiance has got a tight rein on her with what they`re going to run and what she`s going to say, but it`s Britney Spears. She hasn`t -- we haven`t heard her speak in how many years? I want to see this --

HAMMER: Fair enough.

ZINK: -- unfold as it happens.

HAMMER: Fair enough. All right. Thanks a lot, Kelly.

Coming up next, a blockbuster star`s addiction confession. Tonight Bradley Cooper reveals how he has stayed sober for eight years.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Tonight Bradley Cooper`s stunning addiction revelation, how he gave up his wild ways.

And hip-hop`s biggest bank. The rappers and producers who are the kings of cash. That`s tops buzz today.

Cash kings of 2012: "Forbes" has just released their brand new list of hip-hop`s top earners, and Dr. Dre has been crowned this year`s cash king, thanks in large part to his line of premium headphones, Beats by Dr. Dre. He took in $110 million in pre-tax earnings. Also banking big bucks outside the recording studio, Diddy ranks number two on the list with $45 million, thanks mostly to his profits from Ciroc Beqaa (ph).

Jay-Z comes in third with $38 million while his "Watch the Throne" tourmate Kanye West comes in a close fourth with $35 million.

Cooper talks addiction: Bradley Cooper has been through two blockbuster hangovers onscreen, but the leading man has actually been sober for eight years. Giving up drugs and alcohol, Cooper says he gave up his wild ways at age 29.

"I was at a party and deliberately bashed my head on the concrete floor, like, hey, look how tough I am. And I came up and blood dripped down. And then I did it again. I spent the night at St. Vincent`s Hospital with a sock of ice, waiting for them to stitch me up."

Also tonight, the self-proclaimed "Angel of Death." He drove his car into a crowd, killing four people when he was a college student. Well, now a judge says he should be allowed to leave the mental hospital where he`s been locked up. So should he? Dr. Drew investigates right now.
