A.J. HAMMER, HOST: Well, we saw tonight on "HLN AFTER DARK," that bold accusation: was Jodi skilled at using and abusing men? Now SHOWBIZ TONIGHT dares to ask, how does the Jodi Arias case compare to the biggest TV trials, like O.J. Simpson?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JOHNNY COCHRAN, O.J. SIMPSON`S DEFENSE ATTORNEY: If it doesn`t fit, you must acquit.

JUAN MARTINEZ, PROSECUTOR: Were you crying when you were shooting him?

JODI ARIAS, MURDER DEFENDANT: I don`t remember.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: It`s the "SHOWBIZ Countdown," "Jodi`s TV Trial." What will we name No. 1? SHOWBIZ TONIGHT starts right now.

Hello and thank you for watching. I`m A.J. Hammer.

And let there be no doubt the Jodi Arias murder trial, carried live every day here on HLN, is certainly one of the most dramatic, most compelling and often chilling shows on TV today.

And today, on day 40, we saw yet another shocker. A juror kicked off the jury. A judge denying a defense demand for a mistrial. So is the Jodi Arias trial the most dramatic televised trial ever?

Tonight on the "SHOWBIZ Countdown," SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is counting down the top three TV trials most like Jodi`s.

And we`re having at it with Beth Karas, who has been covering the Arias trial for "In Session" and "HLN AFTER DARK." Beth is with us from Phoenix tonight.

And in New York is Jane Velez-Mitchell, whose compelling live coverage of the Jodi Arias trial can be seen weeknights, 7 p.m. Eastern, on THE JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL SHOW.

OK. Let`s kick off the SHOWBIZ COUNTDOWN with No. 3, the O.J. Simpson murder trial. And the big question, like O.J., like Jodi?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: You`ve got some new information just in. What do you got?

HAMMER (voice-over): The biggest thing the Jodi Arias trail has in common with the O.J. Simpson murder trial...

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: It`s still the story of the hour. The Simpson murder case.

HAMMER: Both had the attention of the entire country, and both had the most dramatic moments of any televised trial ever.

COCHRAN: If it doesn`t fit, you must acquit.

HAMMER: There was O.J. and the glove. And Jodi Arias breaking down at the photo of the man she`d killed.

MARTINEZ: Ma`am, were you crying when you were shooting him?

ARIAS: I don`t remember.

HAMMER: But one big difference: Jodi admits to killing Travis, while O.J. would probably still say he`s looking for the real killers, that is, if he weren`t currently in prison for something else.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Guilty of first-degree kidnapping.

HAMMER: But it was that earlier 1995 O.J. verdict that shocked the nation.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Not guilty.

HAMMER: It`s a sure bet, a similar verdict here would have the same effect.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Yes. Can you imagine if Jodi Arias is also found not guilty?

Now Jane, of course, you covered the wild ride, the circus that was the O.J. Simpson trial. Does the Jodi Arias trial even compare?

JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL, HLN ANCHOR: The Jodi Arias trial is fascinating, but there`s never going to be anything like the O.J. Simpson case. It was crazy long before it went to trial.

Do you remember the infamous slow-speed chase? The white Bronco with 20 helicopters following and the world watching. That was just one example.

All the crazy characters. Kato Kaelin, the controversial detective who found the bloody glove, but then he said things that turned the trial into a trial about him. And then the dream team: "If it doesn`t fit, you must acquit. Garbage in garbage out." It was something that will never, ever be repeated.

HAMMER: Yes, it`s all flooding back to me, Jane, with your little play by play. What a nice or interesting remembrance, in any event.

So Beth, you closely observed the O.J. trial while you were working for "In Session`s" predecessor, "Court TV," of course. In your mind does the Arias trial even compare? Because certainly it does have its cast of characters, and it keeps going and going.

BETH KARAS, CORRESPONDENT, TRUTV`S "IN SESSION": Well, it is certainly the trial of the moment right now. But I agree with Jane. It really doesn`t compare in terms of the media presence outside the courthouse. There was a camp O.J., and while we have a big presence here, it`s not like camp O.J.

So I really -- I don`t think there will ever be a case quite like O.J. Simpson, because he was a celebrity beforehand. Jodi Arias is a household name now, but that`s because of the notoriety of the crime for which she is accused, not because she was known before.

HAMMER: Yes. I think there are a lot of generations who hear about O.J. now as they`re growing up and don`t remember or even know the fact that this man was a superstar. He was one of the biggest stars on the planet.

And we have seen so many trials televised throughout the years. Next on our "SHOWBIZ Countdown" of the top three TV trials most like Jodi Arias, it`s another trial involving a young woman accused of a horrible crime, the case of Casey Anthony.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER (voice-over): Not only do the Jodi Arias and Casey Anthony trials both feature young, attractive murder defendants, both trials focus heavily on lurid testimony about their wild lifestyles.

ARIAS (via phone): Woke me up by pulling my pants off and totally licking my (EXPLETIVE DELETED).

HAMMER: Jodi Arias and her sex life with Travis, and Casey Anthony and her partying after the death of her daughter, Caylee. Plus, both trials spent a fair amount of time weaving through the tons of lies both had told.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Do you have her? Do you have a name?

CASEY ANTHONY, ACQUITTED OF MURDER: Her name is Zenaida Fernandez Gonzalez.

HAMMER: Still the Casey Anthony jury ended up deciding that, although Casey was a liar, she wasn`t a murderer.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Not guilty.

HAMMER: Jodi Arias can only hope lightning strikes twice.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: So Jane, just like we watched the Casey Anthony trial play out day after day right here on HLN, now we have the same with Jodi Arias. And as we just heard, there really are some startling similarities between Jodi and Casey, aren`t there?

VELEZ-MITCHELL: It`s creepy. The hair color, the weird pastel shirts with the collars that they wear in court to look good and nice. Their pathological lying, their ability to mesmerize people.

Even though people are sort of repulsed by them. Nevertheless, we`re drawn and we`re mesmerized and perhaps somewhat hypnotized by them.

And then, they`re both very willing to throw their families under the bus and accuse the parental units of abuse. Unbelievable.

HAMMER: It is unbelievable. Beth, I have to imagine that one of the reasons we were all so instantly drawn to the Jodi Arias trial and the case, in particular, was because of what we saw and went through with Casey Anthony. I think we thought, this could really go down that same path.

KARAS: Yes, indeed. Another young woman facing the death penalty.

Women do not get charged with capital offenses very often. I mean, Death Rows, in those 32 states that have them, primarily are filled with men. Not women. Arizona only has three, and one of them had her case overturned recently. So really, technically, there are only two on Death Row right now.

So, yes, there is that concern by some who feel that the justice system will fail and that she will walk. However, I think Jodi Arias is hoping for something less than first degree. I don`t think she even believes she has a prayer of not guilty. That it was absolutely a justified killing. She was willing to plead guilty to second degree. I think that`s what she`s hoping for.

HAMMER: So Beth, we`re seeing similarities play out on TV, but you`re behind the scenes. Is there the same level of craziness outside the courthouse as we got from the Casey Anthony trial and what was happening outside that courtroom?

KARAS: No. You know, the public will go up to the fifth floor and line up, up there. So there`s always deputies around. There`s no lining up the same way that people did at the Casey Anthony trial.

And maybe the time of year also. It`s not summer time. School is still in session. So maybe parents are kind of, you know, tied down to their homes and they`re not free to take vacations in Orlando, the way they could with Casey Anthony. So I think those are factors that can kept this a little bit quieter in terms of the public.

It`s still a big case and we still have people stopping us all the time to talk about the case all around town, but it`s not the same as Orlando.

HAMMER: But I`m sure the crowd will grow as a verdict grows nearer.

KARAS: Absolutely.

HAMMER: So out of all the trials, which will be most like Jodi`s as No. 1 on our "SHOWBIZ Countdown"? Well, this was the story of a pair of murder defendants who tried to excuse their horrible crime with an outrageous defense you may find familiar. Our No. 1, the trial of the Menendez brothers.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Brothers Eric and Lyle Menendez were put on trial for the 1989 shotgun killings of their parents in their California home. And like Jodi Arias, the Menendez brothers spent months lying about what they did.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: What`s the problem?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Someone killed our dad.

HAMMER: But the biggest similarity this trial has with the Jodi Arias trial: all the defendants tried to dodge murder charges by claiming, with little evidence, that they were abused by the people they killed. The Menendez brothers claimed sexual abuse from their father.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I just told him that I didn`t want to do this.

HAMMER: And Jodi Arias claimed Travis physically abused her.

ARIAS: He kicked me in the ribs.

HAMMER: For the Menendez brothers, the abuse defense worked. The first jury deadlocked, although they were convicted in the later trial.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Now Jane, because of what we saw when the Menendez brothers trial was televised, is it perhaps more common for people like Jodi Arias to try and dodge murder trials by claiming abuse?

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Let me tell you, all of these people have one thing in common. They`re very good actors. They can turn on the tears on a dime. You saw the Menendez brothers crying and crying and crying. And prosecutors believe all of that was made up, just as the prosecutor in Jodi`s case believes she`s making up the abuse.

HAMMER: Well, Jane, Beth, it has been fascinating looking at these similarities. You can`t make this stuff up. That is one thing that we have learned.

Make sure you catch up with the very latest on the Jodi Arias trial with HLN`s newest hit show, "HLN AFTER DARK: THE JODI ARIAS TRIAL." It airs Monday through Thursday, 10 p.m. Eastern, right here on HLN.

All right. So anyone watching HLN knows that it seems like even TV writers couldn`t come up with the wild moments that are playing out during the Arias trial. Or could they? Well, tonight -- I can`t wait for this -- we have an insider from one of the hottest dramas on TV, "Criminal Minds." He`s here to talk about the alleged criminal mind of Jodi Arias. It`s the explosive SHOWBIZ Countdown. The top three "SHOWBIZ Newsmakers."

Also vying for No. 1 on the countdown, Kourtney Kardashian`s stunning offer to be a surrogate for her sister Khloe.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

KOURTNEY KARDASHIAN, REALITY TV STAR: I just wanted to say, that if you did need someone to carry your child, that I would volunteer my services.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Wow, is Kourtney`s inspiring offer the biggest newsmaker of the day?

This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, on HLN.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

RYAN SEACREST, HOST, FOX`S "AMERICAN IDOL": This is for Nicki. She -- I hear she`s seven minutes out and there`s some congestion on the 405. So she should be here...

RANDY JACKSON, JUDGE, FOX`S "AMERICAN IDOL": I thought it was the 101.

SEACREST: ... momentarily. Let`s get the party started, though. The show must go on.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: An instant classic "Idol" moment. Nicki Minaj showing up late for the very first live show of "American Idol" this season. And that was just the start of Nicki`s wild "Idol" antics.

The pop star is the most controversial judge since Simon Cowell was on the show. So is she the best or the worst thing that`s ever happened to "Idol"?

Get ready for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT "Quick Hits." This is where we take on the day`s biggest stories at lightning speed. And tonight we`re kicking things off with Nicki Minaj.

The "Idol" wild-card judge is at it again. This time she`s in a Twitter war with an ousted Idol contestant. Yes, you have Nicki yelling at singers who aren`t even on the show anymore.

Joining me in New York, April Woodard, the host "The Media Brew," and Stuart Brazell, the co-founder of Dirtyand30.com is in Hollywood tonight.

Here`s what went down. Nicki refused to save top ten "Idol" contestant Devin Velez with her one judge`s save for the season. Right after he was voted off the show, Devin slammed Nicki backstage, saying "E!" News, "She has a lot of girl power and a lot of girl thoughts. Maybe she just wants a girl to win."

Well, of course, Nicki launched right back, went on Twitter to do this, telling Devin, "Jennifer Hudson didn`t win. Oscar winner." With a hash tag, remember. "OK, take that exposure and let the light shine."

Certainly good advice, but April, I want to get this party started with you. Thirty seconds for you to tell me if Nicki is the best or the worst thing that`s ever happened to "American Idol." Go.

APRIL WOODARD, "THE MEDIA BREW": Well, I can`t say she`s the worst thing that happened. Maybe with Simon Cowell coming off the show, that was the worst thing.

When you look at it progressively, year after year, the ratings have gone through the bottom, and the show is in its 12th season now. So I don`t know that you can all give responsibility to Nicki.

Now is she an example of poor behavior? Probably so. But that`s why we like the show. We like the little antics; we like the drama. We like the train wreck.

Are my 30 seconds up yet? Because that`s all I`ve got to say.

HAMMER: All right. I`ll use your remaining three seconds to say I think she`s great on the show. I think she`s one of the best additions to it in a long time. I cannot wait to hear what she`s going to say next.

But right now let us move on to Heidi Klum`s amazing rescue. So the super model just became a super mom when she apparently jumped into the ocean. She did it to try to rescue her 7-year-old son, Henry, from a rip current while they were on vacation in Hawaii. Imagine how scary that was.

Here`s what Heidi told SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. "We were pulled into the ocean by a big wave. Like any mother, I was very scared for my child and everyone else in the water. Thankfully, Henry is a strong swimmer, and we were able to swim back to land, and we were able to get everyone out safely."

All right, Stuart. Your turn. Thirty seconds. Did Heidi just become perhaps the greatest superhero of all time?

STUART BRAZELL, DIRTYAND30.COM: I absolutely think Heidi Klum is a superhero. If I were going to be forming my own personal Avengers, she would surely be on my team. This woman can do absolutely everything.

I`m going to take Heidi with me every trip I go on, if I`m anywhere near an ocean. I think she`s absolutely unstoppable. She`s closing lines. She`s executive producing shows. She`s hosting, and she`s rescuing her son and the two nannies. Go for it, Heidi!

HAMMER: I didn`t know it was an option to take Heidi on vacation. I`m going to have to look at into that.

Not going to waste any time.

BRAZELL: Hey, that`s how I roll.

HAMMER: We`re going to get to "Quick Hit" No. 3 tonight: D.L. Hughley`s "Dancing with the Stars" rant to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. So D.L. is seriously upset about his time on the show and all the criticism that he`s gotten from the judges. In fact, D.L. just told SHOWBIZ TONIGHT he thinks he`s getting bullied. Watch this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

D.L. HUGHLEY, "DANCING WITH THE STARS" CONTESTANT: I don`t like being bullied by anybody. I just don`t. I feel like -- I don`t. I don`t like it.

I think that he wouldn`t do that if it were -- like, I think -- I think to me, I can only be a good sport before I, you know, say, I know it`s a show. I think he`s a bit of a bully. I think that if my microphone was on, he`d never be allowed to say that to me. It just wouldn`t happen.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Thirty seconds, April. Is D.L. taking it all too personally?

WOODARD: Oh, my gosh. Why so serious, D.L.? You`re a comedian. You`ve been out there for years dissing people and saying mad things about people and mean things about people. You know, you got to man up.

Really, you can`t take the competition? You can`t take people being critical of you? And just because you don`t have a microphone and you can`t fight back, you just can`t take it?

I think he`s got to man up. And really, you know, consider that he may not be the best dancer. He`s a comedian, and we enjoy his laughter, but also, we get to laugh at him, as well. Back at you.

HAMMER: As quickly as it began, "Quick Hits" has ended. April, Stuart, thank you both.

And we move on right now. Have you seen the new Justin Timberlake Target ad for his new album? This is officially one of my favorites.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE (singing): ... fight me now, and I`ll tell you baby...

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, SINGER: Woo! Yes, that sounds good.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: No!

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: So cool. Justin giving his super fans the shock of their lives. I can`t imagine how that must feel. But I`m about to speak with someone exclusively who does know how it feels, Mandy Melon. She was in that commercial with J.T. She`s going to take us behind the scenes. Her story is on the "SHOWBIZ Countdown" of the day, top 3 newsmakers. Will Mandy`s revelations be No. 1?

And it`s a whole new spin on bringing home the bacon. Tonight`s "SHOWBIZ Awesomeness" is a feast for the eyes.

This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, on HLN.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Now, SHOWBIZ Jackson insider. Jury selection started today in the reported $40 billion trial against Michael Jackson`s former concert promoter, AEG Live. Michael`s mom, Katharine Jackson, is behind the lawsuit over her son`s death.

The King of Pop, of course, was about to start this huge concert tour when he died in 2009. And Michael`s mom claims AEG had an extraordinary amount of control over the singer`s health, including hiring his personal physician, Conrad Murray.

I`m joined by my friend and colleague, CNN entertainment reporter, Allen Duke. He`s going to take us right inside this epic Michael Jackson trial.

And Allen, if anybody is a Michael Jackson insider, it is you, my friend. You see the family all the time. And you know what`s going on. There`s a lot of buzz tonight about Michael`s kids, Prince and Paris, taking the stand. So please set the record straight first. What`s the real story here?

ALLEN DUKE, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Yes, we`re going to see Prince and Paris both on the witness stand during this trial over the next two or three months. And in fact, you may even see it on TV. The judge is trying to decide if cameras will be in the courtroom.

Prince Jackson and Paris will talk about that last night of their father`s life. What they saw at the house, who they saw at the house, and I believe there will be some bombshell revelations that you have not heard reported.

Can`t tell you about them now. We`re hoping for the evidence to be unsealed. The judge has kept a tight lid on the documents. But my understanding is that there`s going to be some information that we didn`t know even after these four years.

HAMMER: Wow. Wow, now I`m totally intrigued. And it would be fascinating if we actually see this on television.

There`s also talk, and you have to explain this to me, Prince, the artist, could be on the witness list for Michael`s trial. Now, the two stars, as far as I recall, had never worked together. So why would Prince be called to the stand?

DUKE: Well, they were onstage together at some awards shows and that sort of thing. But what I found out is that Prince, the artist, is not going to be called as a witness. He was on a witness list that had to be filed with the court at some point. However, discussions with lawyers decided that they don`t need him.

Keep in mind, he`s toured before with AEG Live promoting his shows. And that might have been the relevance. But he, at this time, is not expected to actually testify in this trial.

HAMMER: OK. Thank you for clearing that up, because I could not have imagined, when I saw his name pop up in one of the things I was reading about the trial, what the heck he`d be doing there.

Allen Duke, we`ll be watching. Thank you.

And we`re switching gears now to the court case that has everybody transfixed: the Jodi Arias trial. It`s a must-see "SHOWBIZ Countdown." I`m bringing you the top three "SHOWBIZ Newsmakers" of the day. We`re going inside the criminal mind of Jodi Arias with an insider from one of the hottest dramas on television, "Criminal Minds." But which newsmaker will be No. 1 on our "SHOWBIZ Countdown"?

Plus wait until you see this: John Mayer speaking out for the first time about his relationship with, and his break-up, from the lovely Katy Perry. In a surprising new interview, you`re not going to believe what he says or doesn`t say.

This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, on HLN.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

KARDASHIAN: I just wanted to say that, if you did need someone to carry your child, that I would volunteer my services.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Right now, the "SHOWBIZ Countdown," top three "SHOWBIZ Newsmakers" of the day, including Khloe Kardashian Odom opening up about her infertility struggles. And her sister, Kourtney`s, shocking offer to carry her baby. It`s the Kardashian reality TV moment that is inspiring women all around the world.

And then there`s Jodi Arias and her real-life TV drama. Not even TV writers could come up with this mind-boggling case and all the twists and turns of the murder trial that`s playing out live here on HLN. Tonight we have an insider from one of the hottest dramas on TV. "Criminal Minds." He`s going to take us inside the alleged criminal mind of Jodi Arias.

But which newsmaker will be number one in the SHOWBIZ countdown? SHOWBIZ TONIGHT continues right now.

Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. Thank you for watching. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York. And tonight on SHOWBIZ countdown, we are kicking off our countdown of today`s top three newsmakers with the super fan superstar surprise.

At number three, I just love this story. It`s the super fan named Mandy Mellen who thought that she was showing up to sing for a Target ad about Justin Timberlake`s newest album. Well, she did, but then this startling twist as Mandy and 19 other Justin fans got the shock of their lives. Watch.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, SINGER: Yes.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Oh, my god.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Oh, my god.

TIMBERLAKE: Hi, how are you?

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: That is priceless. You see the stunned look on all their faces? That commercial has now become a viral sensation with Justin Timberlake fans drooling around the world, wishing that it was them.

So what do you think was going through the minds of the lucky few who made the cut? Well, let`s ask Mandy Mellen who was one of the super fans taken by surprise.

So great to have you joining us from Hollywood tonight, Mandy.

MANDY MELLEN, JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE SUPER FAN: Hi.

HAMMER: Hi. So I just love the experience that you got to have. Please tell us what were you thinking when you realized Justin Timberlake was actually right there on stage standing in the room with you?

MELLEN: It was so amazing. I didn`t even know he was going to be there. I mean, I just thought being in the commercial and singing his song was amazing. And then all of a sudden he comes out. I was in shock.

HAMMER: Yes. I --

MELLEN: Complete shock.

HAMMER: I have to imagine there was a moment where you didn`t know quite what was going on. And of course we`ve watched this video go completely viral now. I want to watch some more of it.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Oh, my god No, no.

TIMBERLAKE: Don`t do it. Don`t you look at me. Don`t look at me.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: There`s only one place to get more J.T.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: And it just makes you smile. You look like one big happy family there. So what did Justin say to you? What did you say to him?

MELLEN: Well, I was in -- I was in shock when he came out, and I might have said something I shouldn`t say on TV so I won`t say it again.

HAMMER: Well, you could try me.

MELLEN: But then --

HAMMER: No, go ahead.

MELLEN: I was like -- I was like, oh, (EXPLETIVE DELETED), when he came out. And I continued to sing because I was like, this is a commercial. You know, you`re supposed to keep going, and then he was awesome. He actually sang with our group after, which was awesome, which isn`t in the commercial or the behind the scenes. So just to sing his song with him was amazing. And then we all sang it again.

HAMMER: How --

MELLEN: Sorry, what?

HAMMER: You have to tell me, did it meet your expectations now that you finally got to meet Justin Timberlake?

MELLEN: Yes. He seriously is probably one of the nicest people I`ve ever met. He was so genuine, he was so nice. When we finished filming, like backstage, he talked to all of us. And like we were asking him questions about the album, about, like, his songs, his movies, and he answered all of them. He was so nice. And he was just -- as excited as we were to be there.

HAMMER: Yes, well --

(CROSSTALK)

HAMMER: He seemed just to genuinely be smiling. But you were one of only the lucky 20 who got to be in this ad. So where the heck did they find you to begin with?

MELLEN: Yes. Well, you know, they did a -- they did a casting call for it. And so it was on some, you know, casting Web sites and stuff. But everyone was a super fan. And so like I`m an actress and a singer, but I`ve always loved Justin Timberlake since, you know, when he was on Mickey Mouse Club.

HAMMER: And now he knows your name.

(LAUGHTER)

MELLEN: I know. It was pretty crazy.

HAMMER: What an amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience, although there may be more.

Mandy Mellen, great. Thanks for sharing your story. I appreciate it.

MELLEN: Thank you.

HAMMER: All right.

MELLEN: Thanks for having me on.

HAMMER: We`re going to move right now from a superstar rocker and shocker to reality TV star stunner. This is number two on tonight`s SHOWBIZ TONIGHT countdown of today`s top three newsmakers.

Khloe Kardashian Odom, who just opened up about her infertility struggles to her family and to fans around the world. Khloe made the stunning confession on her sister`s reality show, "Kourtney and Kim Take Miami." Look at this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Have you been trying?

KHLOE KARDASHIAN, REALITY TV STAR: Yes.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: How long have you guys been trying for it?

KARDASHIAN: Since I married Lamar. It`s been (INAUDIBLE).

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Have you tried, just like forget about getting pregnant and just put it off.

(CROSSTALK)

KARDASHIAN: I did.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: For like six months and --

KARDASHIAN: About a year ago, we`re like, both, OK, let`s have -- let`s just see what happens. And then when it didn`t happen, Kim was like, let`s go to the doctor. And I found out I don`t ovulate.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: OK, obviously a very candid, personal confession there from Khloe, and it`s creating a whole lot of buzz with women all around the world today.

Dr. Frederick Licciardi is with me tonight in New York and he helps women at the NYU Langone Fertility Center, where he`s an associate professor in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department.

Dr. Licciardi, first of all, thank you so much for being here. I appreciate it.

DR. FREDERICK LICCIARDI, NYU LANGONE FERTILITY CENTER: Sure. Great to be here.

HAMMER: And we should be very clear right now. You`re not Khloe`s doctors, but you have treated hundreds of women who face this very same issue. Should Khloe get big kudos here for being so candid because I know there are so many women out there who are relating to her struggles?

LICCIARDI: Dr. Frederick I think it`s -- I feel bad for her and I feel bad for her struggles. But I think if she`s willing to come out with this information, it really does help so many other people, to just identify with the problem and work on, you know, solving their problem.

HAMMER: Yes, it`s always so good to hear, always so validating when you know, hey, it`s not just me, even a rich, famous Kardashian is dealing with the same thing. And the fans of Kardashian reality shows have been watching and waiting now for Khloe to announce her pregnancy, ever since she got married to basketball superstar Lamar Odom. That was back in 2009.

I`m no doctor here, Dr. Licciardi, but I would have to imagine that the pressures and the stress of having this all play out on TV for the world to see could be playing into Khloe`s struggles. Am I anywhere near right about that?

LICCIARDI: Well, certainly there`s -- every infertility patient undergoes a tremendous amount of pressure, and it just starts within her nuclear family, her partner, then it spreads into the parents. Everyone`s asking, hey, you know, when is it going to happen? And then there`s the trials and tribulations of actually treatment. Now luckily today treatment can be really successful for most people, but it doesn`t mean that it`s not going to be a lot of work. A lot of couples undergo financial difficulties putting the whole thing together, so it can be a really big deal.

HAMMER: And we`re going to continue to see how it plays out with their family. Right after we saw Khloe opening up about her fertility issues on "Kourtney and Kim Take Miami," a stunner came when her sister Kourtney made a jaw-dropping offer to help Khloe and actually carry her baby as a surrogate. Let`s watch that.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

KOURTNEY KARDASHIAN, "KOURTNEY AND KIM TAKE MIAMI": You were telling them that you don`t know if your body can carry a child or something. But if one treatment doesn`t work then you won`t be able to. So I just wanted to say, that if you did need someone to carry your child, that I would volunteer my services. I would do that for you.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: As much as some people may think that was done for a sensational moment, I don`t know, it seems pretty genuine to me, Doctor. Kourtney now has two children. She fully admitted she still needs to do her own research on surrogacy. But Khloe is only 28 years old. Is this something that Khloe should consider or maybe hold off on for a little while?

LICCIARDI: I can`t comment on their specific case. There`s no many, you know, minute factors that go into each infertility case, but certainly if she needed a carrier, to have her sister carry, I mean, that`s really just a wonderful, wonderful offer.

HAMMER: Is that something that you do see often in your line of work? Is that a pretty common offer that`s made by family members?

LICCIARDI: Well, I would say about 1 percent of fertility treatments are through gestational carrier, where one woman needs another woman to carry her eggs or embryos. Not all women have -- A, they have a sister, not all women have a sister who`s of the right age and not all women have a sister who -- actually who`s willing to do it. I would probably say most sisters are going to at least think very hard about it before they offer. So the offer was just tremendously generous and really above and beyond.

HAMMER: Now it`s cool to hear, with your expertise, that that offer has your support and I`m sure that means a lot to women who are going through the same thing right now.

Dr. Licciardi, really interesting speaking with you. Thank you so much.

LICCIARDI: You`re very welcome. Thanks for having me.

HAMMER: You`re welcome.

So we have Khloe and Justin Timberlake`s super fan, but who will be our number one newsmaker on tonight`s SHOWBIZ countdown? I`m going to give you a hint. Think "Criminal Minds." Also John Mayer talking for the first time about his latest ex-girlfriend Katy Perry. Not to worry, there are no sexual A-bomb comments here. Thank goodness. But does John have a shocking revelation about what he learned from his time with Katy? And wait until you see what we named as our moment of SHOWBIZ awesomeness tonight.

This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. And tonight on the SHOWBIZ countdown we are counting down today`s top three big newsmakers. Here`s where we are so far.

Coming in at number three, a SHOWBIZ TONIGHT exclusive with Justin Timberlake`s super fan, Mandy Mellen. Mandy tells us what it was like when the pop icon made this great surprise appearance with her while she was taping a TV commercial for his new album.

At number two, Khloe`s stunning confession. So reality TV star Khloe Kardashian Odom has just opened up to her family and fans around the world about her struggles to have a child.

And that brings us to our big reveal, the number one newsmaker on the SHOWBIZ countdown. And it`s the criminal profiler for the hit TV drama "Criminal Minds," taking us inside the mind of accused murderer Jodi Arias.

Now of course Arias has become one of the most talked about criminal defendants in history for killing her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander. Shooting him and stabbing him 29 times as she claims in self-defense. The trial, of course, is seen live every day right here on HLN.

So who is the real Jodi Arias?

Well, Jim Clemente is our big newsmaker. He`s an adviser and a writer for "Criminal Minds." Jim also used to profile criminals for the FBI. So he knows of what he speaks.

And it`s great to have you joining us from Hollywood tonight, Jim.

JIM CLEMENTE, CRIMINAL PROFILER: How you doing, A.J.?

HAMMER: I`m great. And I got to know, if you were drafting a profile of Jodi Arias, how exactly would you describe her?

CLEMENTE: I would say she`s a brilliant sociopath, even a psychopath. And I think -- the characteristics of psychopaths and sociopaths fit her to a tee. She`s hypervigilant, she`s hyper control, she`s a very manipulative person, and the brilliance, the intelligence. She`s of the level of Ted Bundy.

HAMMER: Wow.

CLEMENTE: She has the ability to sort of convey whatever emotion she wants at the drop of a dime. She really doesn`t care much about other people. And I think she`s got a huge ego and it comes out every day when she`s on the stand and even when she`s sitting at the defense table.

HAMMER: It`s interesting to hear you apply that description of having so much intelligence because I wouldn`t imagine that`s the first thing people think of, at least in some of the things we`ve heard in the trial, particularly the sex tapes and such. But watching this trial here on HLN every day, there really have been some key moments that I think have stood out to everybody, including Arias saying she doesn`t remember one of the most horrific moments of what she did, stabbing Travis 29 times. Let`s watch that together.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JODI ARIAS, ACCUSED OF KILLING TRAVIS ALEXANDER: The most clear memory that I have after that point is driving in the desert. But there are certain little things that have come back, like pictures in my mind that have come back since then.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Well, let me ask you this. Do you remember stabbing Travis Alexander?

ARIAS: I have no memory of stabbing him.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: So, yes, she says she can`t even remember stabbing Travis Alexander. And Jim, I`m sure you experienced this and saw this in the FBI, from her apparent profile.

CLEMENTE: Sure.

HAMMER: Does she seem like the type who, you know, would just kind of snap in the moment, or in your mind, does this have to be premeditated?

CLEMENTE: Well, I think that this type of personality is usually a very effective con artist. And I think she`s showing that her ability is, you know, really at the top of her game there. I think the way she`s describing her memories as pictures or snapshots, that`s really sort of a Hollywood version of a flashback. It`s not really how memory works. Memories are typically tied together, real memories are typically tied together with all the other senses and they`re more rich and truthful memories have more details.

You can tell when she was on the stand how she was so very detailed about other times. And then when it came to the actual act, the homicide that she committed, that is of course just spotty because she doesn`t want to go into the details of that because, of course, it will probably hurt her defense.

HAMMER: What about the abuse claims, which she`s really been standing by? Is there anything in your profile of her that would seem to suggest it is possible that she was abused by Travis?

CLEMENTE: Well, It does seem like there`s some indications of obsessive behavior here. And I think also the huge ego wouldn`t want her to lose. So if he was actually going to leave her, move on with another relationship, or just kind of put her to the side, then that would, you know, sort of, kind bring up all of the need for her to have what she wants. It`s so important to her to get her way.

And I think the abuse claims are a way just try to undermine him. However, in -- most people lie by omission. That is, they take pieces of the facts, the truth, and then they weave in their lies. So there may have been some indicators, some slight, you know, controlling behavior on his part, but certainly that doesn`t excuse what she did as a result of that.

HAMMER: Well, it`s just so fascinating to hear you speaking about her from your great perspective and your experience.

Jim Clemente, thanks so much. I do appreciate it.

CLEMENTE: Thank you, A.J.

HAMMER: All right, up next, David Beckham. He is famous, he is rich and a legendary soccer talent. But tonight Beckham gets more candid than ever before about his one weakness.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

DAVID BECKHAM, SOCCER PLAYER: When you speak about the sacrifices, that`s obviously the sacrifice that I have to make as a -- as a father and as a husband.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: We are in Paris for a David Beckham exclusive, coming up next.

Plus, wait until you see what we have named as our moment of SHOWBIZ awesomeness.

This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ELLEN DEGENERES, "ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW": The last time I saw you you were at the Grammys, you were sitting on the row as Portia and I.

JOHN MAYER, SINGER: Yes.

DEGENERES: You`re with Katy.

MAYER: That`s right.

DEGENERES: And I know Katy. Obviously she`s a friend as well.

MAYER: Yes.

DEGENERES: And I know that since then you`re not together anymore.

MAYER: Correct.

DEGENERES: And I just want to say that I love you and my thoughts are with you.

MAYER: Thank you.

DEGENERES: And I don`t want -- you know, somebody`s business but I just want --

MAYER: Well, listen. Listen, it was a private relationship going in, it was a private relationship during, and it`s a private relationship still. And I can understanding asking the question based on some previous answers I have given. But, you know, I`ve finally learned how to put the wall between one thing and the other.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Wow. That`s tonight`s SHOWBIZ love kind of confession. A new more private John Mayer on "Ellen." Speaking out for the first time about his relationship and his split from Katy Perry. Well, it seems like John finally gets it. No more kiss and tell. And tell and tell.

And tonight it`s an exclusive with the phenomenal soccer star David Beckham. He is of course still one of the biggest names in the sports world and one of the most recognizable celebrities on the face of the planet. Last year of course he left the Los Angeles area to play soccer in Paris. His European fans are cheering but has the move made things harder in the Beckham household.

CNN`s Pedro Pinto travels to Paris for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT to find out about that and about the secrets dealing with his rock star like fame.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

PEDRO PINTO, CNN SPORTS ANCHOR: What do you think continues to make you so popular? What do you think people want from you all the time? Because no matter how long you go in your career, the attention doesn`t stop.

BECKHAM: No, you know, I`ve had the attention almost everywhere I play or everywhere I`ve gone on, everywhere I`ve lived. And that`s it. You know, the attention, I`ve got to. These other things that come with me and that come with me -- come into a (INAUDIBLE). But I think the thing that people always look at is professionalism.

PINTO: Yes. You mentioned your family and I believe they`re in London. You`re in Paris. You go back and forth all the time. How is it being back in Europe and being so close to London?

BECKHAM: When you speak about the sacrifices, that`s obviously the sacrifice that I have to make as a -- as a father and as a husband. You know, being away from my family. You know, it`s only for a short time but it`s difficult being away from the children. You know, being away from the children every single day. But you know, they -- they understand it. They understand that daddy works hard.

PINTO: Has it been a challenge sometimes trying to explain to your kids how famous you are? How their life is not like other kids` life? How there are certain things that they just can`t do?

BECKHAM: Yes. I mean, you know, my oldest now is at the age where he kind of wants to do things and wants to go places, and you kind of ask -- you have to hold him back. We have to hold him back because you have to kind of explain it to him that there`s certain things that he can`t do. But to be honest with our children we let them do 99 percent of the things that they wanted because we want them to live a normal life.

PINTO: What about your future with England? Do you ever see yourself put on England again? I know how passionate you are about it.

BECKHAM: One of the reasons why I could never retire from the England team is because if there`s ever an opportunity to play for them again, then I`m available. If there is any chance of me playing for my country again I would never turn that down. So, you know, I`m -- like I said, I`m almost 38 years old so chances are very slight but you never know.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: You never know. That was CNN`s Pedro Pinto with the Beckham exclusive for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

Well, tonight`s moment of SHOWBIZ awesomeness is a tasty treat for some people anyway and a fashion faux pas for others. Either way I know you were going to be talking about this for a long time.

SHOWBIZ awesomeness is next.

This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: It`s time for SHOWBIZ awesomeness. This is where we name the most awesome moment of the day and tonight look at this. A feast for the eyes. Behold the bacon dress. Now this was created for the 6th Annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival in Des Moines, Iowa. And as you can imagine, this best celebrates all things bacon. The dress really is something special. And a reporter asked the question that I know is making your mind sizzles.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: And is it raw or cooked?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: This whole bodice is raw. This part that`s in the basket weaving, that`s cooked and then it has the blue on top of that. And then this band right down here that is raw.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: And smells good, too, I`m sure. I`m just hoping next year maybe they`ll expand their collection to include vegetarian bacon.

Coming up next on "DR. DREW ON CALL," tonight is the debut of "Drew`s Views." Call in with your questions about the Jodi Arias trial or anything else. That starts right now.
