THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

A.J. HAMMER, HOST: Tonight, SHOWBIZ investigates Jodi Arias behind bars. We`ve got a fascinating look at Jodi`s life, now that she`s been convicted of murder.

HLN`s Jane Velez-Mitchell literally wrote the book on Jodi Arias. It`s a best-seller. She`s right here with former FBI profiler Jim Clemente.

Plus, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is counting down the top three "VMA Show Stoppers."

HAMMER: Miley Cyrus blurs some serious lines onstage with Robin Thicke. But will she grab the No. 1 slot on our countdown?

Seventies pop star Leif Garrett is right here to give us his take on the controversy.

SHOWBIZ TONIGHT starts right now.

Hello, and thank you so much for watching. I`m A.J. Hammer with my guest co-host, Nischelle Turner.

And Nischelle, look at you, up late again tonight. What a night you had last night at the MTV Video Music Awards.

NISCHELLE TURNER, CO-HOST: I think I`m running on fumes this morning, A.J. And today, well, you know what everyone couldn`t stop talking about.

HAMMER: Gee, what could it be? Miley Cyrus, perhaps?

TURNER: You think? Yes, that and the twerk fest that just wouldn`t stop. It`s one of the top three "VMA Show Stoppers" we`re bringing you in our big "SHOWBIZ Countdown." And that, of course, is coming up.

HAMMER: All right, Nischelle.

But we do begin tonight with Jodi Arias. She was back in court today, shackled, her hear in a bun. She was wearing glasses, and this was the first time that we`ve seen her since she was convicted three months ago of murdering her boyfriend, Travis Alexander. She now faces a second trial, and that, of course, is going to determine if she gets the death penalty.

The judge today set another hearing for mid-September, and that leaves us all wondering what life is really like for Jodi behind bars? Well, tonight, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT investigates.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: The court is not prepared to set a trial date today.

HAMMER (voice-over): A shackled Jodi Arias didn`t say anything during her few minutes in court. But with the huge media army gathered at this Phoenix courthouse to see the infamous murderer for the first time in months, we can guess one thing. She is loving this.

AMY MURPHY, REPORTER FOR ABC-15 IN PHOENIX WHO INTERVIEWED JODI: Jodi likes the spotlight. She knows she`ll be in the news today, and I doubt very highly she would ever want to miss that.

HAMMER: But if the calm, silent Jodi we saw in court today seems a little different from the unhinged killer who stalked and slaughtered her boyfriend, Travis Alexander, there may be a reason for it.

MURPHY: When I interviewed her, she appeared to be somewhat medicated.

HAMMER: Phoenix reporter Amy Murphy interviewed Arias for Phoenix`s ABC-15 right after Jodi was found guilty of murdering Travis.

MURPHY: Are you sorry you got caught? You said you couldn`t answer that at the time.

JODI ARIAS, CONVICTED MURDERER: I couldn`t answer that. I don`t know if I would have turned myself in.

HAMMER: Now Murphy tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT she suspects Jodi was being medicated, possibly for some mental issues, while locked up in the Estrella Jail in Phoenix, Arizona.

MURPHY: I did ask some of the sheriff`s deputies that take care of her what the deal was, and they did report to me several days later that yes, indeed, she is in on medication. They wouldn`t say what for.

HAMMER: Jodi`s appearance in court today is probably a welcome break from her jail life. She`s been locked up here at the Estrella Jail since September of 2008. And it hasn`t exactly been smooth going.

According to a discipline report obtained by HLN, Jodi Arias has racked up a number of infractions in Estrella, including a fight with a fellow inmate in July of 2009. But despite Jodi`s scrapes, her fellow prisoners seemed to like her.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: She`s an amazing woman. She really is.

HAMMER: HLN`s Nancy Grace went behind the wall at the Estrella Jail and spoke with some of Arias`s fellow inmates, some of whom have had direct contact with the infamous murderess.

NANCY GRACE, HLN ANCHOR: Has anybody come in contact with her?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yes. I have.

GRACE: What happened?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: She sings really good.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: She really is a great person.

HAMMER: Jodi`s jail mates also shared with Nancy Grace the details of their typical day behind bars.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: We basically get up for medication, for breakfast and then we have free time. The only television we`re allowed to watch here is the Food Network.

And you know, at 5 p.m., we get our chow for dinner and then medications again. We go to sleep and start it all over again the next day. It`s the same old thing every day.

HAMMER: And Jodi gives us a peek inside her life behind bars with her Twitter account, which is maintained by a friend on the outside.

In one suggestive tweet, Jodi writes, "A girl recently turned me on to... country music. I used to dislike it but not anymore."

And she`s a prolific letter writer. In fact, she tells her Twitter followers, quote, "Here`s why you shouldn`t buy my mail on eBay: I will write you for free. Don`t get suckered."

MURPHY: Apparently, she is answering many of these letters, and we`re starting to hear from members of the public.

HAMMER: But now, today`s court proceeding could be the beginning of the end of her time in Estrella Jail. If she`s given life in prison, she`ll go to a cell like this one at the Arizona State Prison Complex in Goodyear, Arizona, just west of Phoenix. But it`s also possible that Jodi will head to that prison to live out her days on death row.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: Well, whatever that decision -- life behind bars or life behind bars waiting on a death sentence -- Jodi has had plenty of time to get used to life behind bars. She`s now been locked up for almost five years already.

Jane Velez-Mitchell just revealed so many new secrets about Jodi Arias in her brand-new best-selling book. It`s called "Exposed: The Secret Life of Jodi Arias."

Jane, of course, the host of "JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL". You can see it weeknights, 7 p.m. Eastern, right here on HLN.

Also here to help us understand the criminal mind of Jodi behind bars, Jim Clemente. Jim is an advisor and writer for the hit show "Criminal Minds" on CBS. He was also a former FBI profiler and prosecutor.

Great to have you here, Jim.

Jane, I`m going to begin with you. When you saw Jodi today, Jane, did it seem that just maybe, prison life could be changing her even more, now that she knows, "Hey, there`s no way out?"

JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL, HLN HOST: Yes, A.J., while she did manage one little flirtatious smile to the camera, she seemed otherwise quite catatonic. She didn`t have her usual vim and vigor and hair flipping. Well, for one she had her hair in a bun.

But I think the reality is sinking in with this much more onerous schedule that she has, now that she`s convicted. Also, you heard Amy Murphy say she might be medicated behind bars.

And remember this: she`s looking at the prospect of having to take the stand again. Now, when you`re telling the truth, A.J., you don`t have to memorize what you said the last time word for word, but if you`re lying you have to memorize 18 days and remember down to the word what you said the first time around. That`s daunting.

HAMMER: Yes. A lot of stories to keep straight there.

And we also heard Jodi`s fellow prisoners telling Nancy Grace that, yes, Jodi is nice. But I`m thinking it wouldn`t be a stretch for her to try to manipulate the people that she`s behind bars with, Jim.

We know that Jodi is this master manipulator. I`m wondering, from what you know, could that actually have changed in jail or maybe she`s even better at it?

JIM CLEMENTE, FORMER FBI PROFILER: Yes, I think she`s probably better at it now. What she did, I`m sure, when she got there was assess the situation. She wants to adjust for the new circumstances and avoid risks and dangers to her.

She loves manipulation; she loves control. It`s the most important thing to her. And I think when you`re in that sort of closed environment with a limited number of people, she`s going to rise to the top in any way she can. And that means she has to step on other people to do it.

HAMMER: Yes, that wouldn`t surprise anybody.

So if Jodi does get the death penalty, life behind bars is obviously going to change for her yet again. She`d leave Estrella. She would go to the Arizona State Prison, Nischelle. What could she be facing there?

TURNER: Well, A.J., to say change would be a bit of an understatement. Let me give you some specifics.

She`d be living in a cell that`s just 12 by 7 feet with a bed built into the wall. She`d have a stainless steel toilet and a sink, one small chair, and she`d be fed three meals a day during the week and only two on weekends. Also, she would be allowed outside her cell only six hours a week.

Now, I want to ask Jane. For somebody who was once so controlling, that`s got to play with your head, because that`s all control there.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Isolation is torture, and it is torturous. That`s why it`s called punishment. And these are the kinds of things that she should have thought of before she slit Travis Alexander`s throat ear to ear six inches across and 3-1/2 inches deep.

Now, she is a person who manages to -- for example, right now, she started a book club and she`s reading "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "Under the Banner of Heaven." And she`s talked a good game about trying to be productive behind bars.

But if she is sentenced to death, that situation, even before the ultimate punishment, is very, very just harsh.

TURNER: What do you think, Jim? Harsh, overwhelming? What do you think about that?

CLEMENTE: Well, I think the whole point here is if she is isolated, then you`re probably right, it is going to be torture for her. But she`s making every use she can, possibly can of any kind of communication method. She`s actually writing and responding to letters from the public. She`s having her friend tweet. She`s trying to get this kind of communication, this interaction that she can get through social media and through the mail that she isn`t supposed to really have.

And I think, again, that`s her using the system. Finding out how she can manipulate the system to her benefit. So although it will be difficult for her, it won`t be as bad as it would be if she was truly isolated.

TURNER: Jane and Jim, we thank you very much.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Thank you.

HAMMER: Thank you all.

All right. Let`s switch gears right now. We`ve got to get to the MTV Video Music Awards tonight. They were just about as shocking as you could get. Especially, of course, Miley Cyrus`s little twerk-fest up there with Robin Thicke.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

(MUSIC)

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: OK, Miley, we know you`re all grown up, but there`s being yourself and then there`s that weird foam finger you`ve got in your mouth there.

It`s the "SHOWBIZ VMA Show Stoppers" countdown. Did Miley go way too far?

Well, I`ve got one of the biggest teen idols ever right here. He`s going to weigh in on the Miley VMA backlash. In a mega "SHOWBIZ Newsmaker" interview, `70s icon Leif Garrett has been there, done that, so what does he think?

Plus, Kardashian chaos. Brand-new reports that the most perfect pair of Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom are separated. Are drugs pushing them apart?

This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, on HLN.

TURNER: And SHOWBIZ at the VMAs. Here`s a moment from my red-carpet interview at the VMAs. Jennifer Hudson has her own show-stopping moment with Robin Thicke`s mega hit, "Blurred Lines."

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JENNIFER HUDSON, SINGER: I love "Boardwalks." That is my song.

TURNER: I can`t hear it enough.

HUDSON (singing): Hey, hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey.

(speaking): You know that one little part? That`s my son, like, "Where did that come from?"

And I`m like "Fat Albert."

So then he`s like, "Mommy, show me Fat Albert."

HUDSON: Hey, hey, hey.

TURNER: Robin Thicke came by and I just wanted to yell out, "What rhymes with hug me?"

(END VIDEO CLIP)

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

(MUSIC)

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Well, there it is one more time. The performance that some found totally uncomfortable from Miley Cyrus. Stunned a whole lot of people at the VMAs. She sure turned some heads, but is all that twerking just an embarrassment?

SHOWBIZ is covering the major buzz about Miley like only we can. And tonight, I`ve got one of the biggest former teen idols on the planet right here, who lived through the same kind of extreme scrutiny that Miley is under tonight. I`m talking about the prince of `70s teen pop and "SHOWBIZ Newsmaker" Leif Garrett. He has been there. He has done that. Maybe not the twerking, but Leif is joining us from Hollywood tonight.

Great to see you. LEIF GARRETT, FORMER TEEN IDOL: Thank you, sir. Great to see you.

HAMMER: So look, we`ve been talking about Miley all day. I have to say, I think she`s been grown up for a while now, and for better or worse, if this is who she is, at least it`s who she wants us to see her as, and she should be herself. It`s her art. It doesn`t mean we have to like it.

So I`ve got to ask you, as somebody who has lived through this kind of insane pressure and scrutiny, Leif, what do you think?

GARRETT: Wow, OK. I didn`t know she wanted to be a porn star.

HAMMER: Yes. I mean -- I mean, that`s kind of what a lot of people are saying today. And a lot of people are saying, well, she`s just trying to prove herself coming off of those years of being Hannah Montana. But look, I think that`s long behind her at this point.

What kind of advice do you have for her, because she clearly wants to make it as an adult star, not necessary an adult film star? But what would you say to Miley?

GARRETT: I mean, it`s great to reinvent yourself, but also, you know, be careful on how you reinvent yourself and if that`s really the direction you want to go, you know?

I agree with you, what you`re saying. You know, she`s been a way from Hannah for a while. I can see how she probably wants to, you know, get away from that. But wow, wow, wow.

HAMMER: "Wow" is really the only word to use there.

There`s another young star, of course, who we have seen acting out over the past year: Justin Bieber, who`s been caught on tape, busted for going to the bathroom in a hotel mop bucket. He fought with the photographer. There have been all these reports of him speeding through his neighborhood in his Ferrari.

And I thought you gave some great advice to the Biebs, or at least something you said. In a recent interview, you said, "Do not believe your own publicity. Sussing out who your real friends are is full-time work. Every scum bag, every drug dealer, every chicken hawk wants a piece of you."

So Leif, do you think that Justin, not necessarily knowing how to deal with those very issues may have a lot to do with the kind of behavior that we`re seeing from him lately?

GARRETT: Yes. I mean, it`s OK to act out, and you know, you go. The power and what not, but man, have some scruples and morals, you know? Get a grip.

HAMMER: Yes. It seems like he`s not getting the best of advice in terms of -- in terms of how he should be behaving. Stronger words you had for him: "When you`ve got that sort of power at that young age and everything at your doorstep, you put out that bad-boy image. At that age, testosterone, hormones, all of the money, you see what else you can get away with."

You`ve been through it all. You`ve talked about your addiction, being arrested, dealing with obscurity, going from the top to the bottom. Do you fear that Justin could be headed down the same road based on what you`ve seen and what you`ve experienced?

GARRETT: It seems that way. I -- I`ve acted out my own, you know, demons and things like that. I hopefully wasn`t quite as severe. But, you know, do it -- do it in the privacy of your own home if that`s what you`re going to do, you know?

HAMMER: Well, it`s great to see what you`ve done. You`re 51 years old now. You`ve cleaned up your act for some time. Back on the top of your own music game. You have this brand-new single, "My Turn." It`s dropping in September. I want to reveal some of that right now.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

GARRETT (singing): Want to be me, but you can`t be you. All that happiness is all fake, too. Hope that happiness is all fake, too.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Leif, it is so great to hear you singing again and being a part of music and seeing a mile on your face. And we do appreciate you being here with your insights so much. Thank you.

GARRETT: Thank you, A.J. It`s great talking to you again.

HAMMER: All right. You definitely should check out Leif`s new single. It is called "My Turn." It is on Sanford`s (ph) brand-new album, "37 Channels." That will be out on September 17.

Well, there was all kinds of drama at MTV`s Video Music Awards in addition to Miley Cyrus. Did Taylor Swift really drop an "F" bomb on her ex, Harry Stiles?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

HARRY STILES, SINGER: I see it`s true what they say: The best fans are in New York.

We were...

TAYLOR SWIFT, SINGER: (MOUTHING WORDS)

GRAPHIC: Shut the (EXPLETIVE DELETED) up?!

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Wow, I say, Taylor is definitely never, ever, ever getting back together with him. But was Taylor`s apparent caught-on-tape slam more of a "VMA Show Stopper" than this?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

(MUSIC)

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Come on, you were waiting for it, `N Sync back together, including J.T., one night only at the VMAs. But do the rest of the boys live up to J.T.`s unforgettable performance?

A special "SHOWBIZ Countdown," our top three "VMA Show Stoppers."

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Well, the MTV Video Music Awards certainly had a lot of show stoppers and head-shaking performances.

TURNER: It certainly did. You know, I was there at the VMAs, and my head was seriously spinning. MTV did not disappoint. One of the highlights includes the premiere of Shailene Woodley`s movie, "Divergent." Now this looks like kind of "The Hunger Games" meets "Twilight." And here`s your "SHOWBIZ First Look."

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: The future belongs to those who know where they belong.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You`re nervous, aren`t you?

SHAILENE WOODLEY, ACTRESS: Why would I be nervous? It`s just, like, the rest of our lives.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: You are different. You`re in a different category. They can`t control you. They call it divergent. You can`t let them find out about you.

WOODLEY: What if they already know?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Then you`re already dead.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: The system removes exercising their independent will. Divirgents are removed. It won`t be safe until they`re removed.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I know who you are. If you want to survive, follow me.

WOODLEY: They`re going to kill me.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We`re not going to let that happen.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: You have to trust yourself.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: You`re a poor blend of impulses and impurities.

WOODLEY: Don`t try to find me.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

TURNER: "Divergent" opens in theaters March 2014.

HAMMER: And I`m getting set to fire up another must-see "SHOWBIZ Countdown," the top three "VMA Show stoppers." Is Miley Cyrus`s shocking twerk-a-rama with Robin Thicke going to take No. 1 tonight?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

(MUSIC)

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Hannah Montana. Was that a hot mess or downright hot? Will Miley top the "SHOWBIZ Countdown"?

Plus, SHOWBIZ at the VMAs. Hair dos and hair don`ts. Which stars nailed their dos and which fell flat?

This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, on HLN.

TURNER: Now SHOWBIZ at the VMAs. Here`s another memorable moment from my red-carpet interviews at the VMAs. I went one on one with Richard Simmons. Yes, that Richard Simmons. And he told me who he thinks has the best all-time hairstyle ever.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

TURNER: Who does hair right? Who has -- I mean, because to me, there`s nobody better than Diana Ross through the years with her hair.

RICHARD SIMMONS, FITNESS GURU: I`m going to say Audrey Hepburn.

TURNER: OK, OK.

SIMMONS (SINGING): Moon river.

TURNER: Oh, wait, you`ve got the river, quick.

SIMMONS: Yes.

TURNER: Just a quick river.

SIMMONS: Well...

TURNER: A stream.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

(MUSIC)

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Right now, the "SHOWBIZ Countdown," "VMA Show Stoppers." Miley mania. Yes, talk about your blurred lines. A lot of people are asking if Miley crossed the line with her ultra-provocative performance. But was she the top show stopper of the night?

Kardashian chaos. Are Khloe and Lamar in trouble? Khloe Kardashian Odom lashes out on Twitter after disturbing reports run wild about her marriage and her man`s alleged struggles with addiction. What is Khloe`s response to the frenzy? SHOWBIZ TONIGHT continues right now.

Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. Thank you for watching. I`m A.J. Hammer, along with my guest host tonight, Nischelle Turner. And tonight on the SHOWBIZ countdown, we have got the day`s top three VMA show stoppers. And Nischelle, you have it firsthand, you were right there at the VMAs in Brooklyn. How could we ever have imagined some of what ended up going on at that show last night?

TURNER: I have no idea, but you know what, AJ, we did know from the start that there would be some big surprises. It`s the VMAs, right? So let`s get this countdown going at no. 3, with holy Hannah, everybody, and I mean, everybody, myself included, had something to say today about Miley Cyrus`s over the top performance. Watch this.

(MUSIC)

TURNER: Where do we begin. Jenny Hutt is with us tonight. She`s the host of Sirius XM Radio`s "Just Jenny." And Segun Oduolowu is in Hollywood. He`s an entertainment journalist and contributor to "Access Hollywood."

Jenny, there are a lot of questions that I have, but I will start with this one. Were you fascinated? Grossed out? In shock, all of the above?

HUTT: I was really uncomfortable.

And I have to tell you, I am like a progressive parent, and I still wanted to take her and put her in a room, and I canceled my order of the latex nude colored swimsuit. I`m done. I was not happy with her performance. I felt a little bad for her. She was going for sensual, and it was over the top sexual. Ick and ew.

TURNER: It was a little awkward, I agree with you.

HUTT: A little?

TURNER: I felt weird watching it. I felt weird, I just felt weird, and I`m not even a parent and I felt weird.

Now, Miley kicked off the performance last night with the Bears, you saw her there, and then she moved on to that memorable duo with Robin Thicke. Talk about some blurred lines. Watch this.

(MUSIC)

TURNER: The foam finger, Segun, I`m almost afraid to ask you, what were you thinking?

(CROSSTALK)

SEGUN ODUOLOWU, ENTERTAINMENT JOURNALIST: My problem with the whole thing is, it`s going to be two-fold. No. 1, that vertical striped hamburglar outfit that Robin Thicke had on. That`s got to go.

HUTT: Beetlejuice.

ODUOLOWU: It looked like he just broke out of prison. It`s a horrible outfit. Beetlejuice is a great line for that.

My thing with Miley Cyrus is, I have just seen better artists and sexier women do that better. It is not like she is breaking new ground. She is not Madonna, she`s not Lady Gaga, she is not Britney Spears. I have seen other artists do it, do it better, and not look as trashy. I mean, Britney was up there one time with an albino boa constrictor, and she still came off looking better than whatever Miley Cyrus was doing.

I`m with the Smith family, like if you saw Will Smith and his kids in the front row, jaw on the floor, I saw it. I`m like, it`s not even sexy or sensual, it`s just like lewd and licentious and lascivious and a whole bunch of other L words like lustful, and basically ludicrous.

TURNER: Tell me what you really think.

ODUOLOWU: I don`t know what she was thinking.

TURNER: Tell me what you really think.

ODUOLOWU: I don`t know what she was thinking.

TURNER: I think it was the foam finger. I`m sticking with that, the Twittersphere went bananas. Segun was talking about that picture of Will Smith and his family, which went crazy viral today. We did see the looks on their faces there. Jenny, some people were saying that they were actually reacting to Miley`s performance, others were saying that maybe they were reacting to Lady Gaga`s performance. Whosever performance they are reacting to, what are you seeing?

HUTT: Listen, I`m seeing a reaction to Miley`s performance. But I think, I have got to say, Miley is a really talented kid. So I`m surprised that you don`t think she was that talented. I think she is a great singer, she`s a great dancer, and this was just an epic fail. Her performance was just a fail.

ODUOLOWU: But I`m saying compare her to Madonna.

HUTT: Better singer.

ODUOLOWU: Compare her to Lady Gaga. Compare her to other artists that have done that type of performance before.

HUTT: I don`t think anybody has done this exact performance.

(CROSSTALK)

HAMMER: We had a lot of Miley defenders on the Internet all day long, everybody saying stop hating on Miley, but I didn`t see any of them saying, oh, that was a great performance. And I was thinking, if only Miley had the class of Justin Timberlake, because that was the moment music fans could not wait to see last night. That is something to aspire to. JT was expected to bring it, and bring it he did. That brings us to No. 2 of our countdown of VMA stunners. It is safe to say that Justin Timberlake did steal the show. It was an epic 20-minute performance. Let`s revisit some of it.

(MUSIC)

HAMMER: A lot of people were saying today, oh, they decided to do an award show as a part of the Justin Timberlake concert. But Segun, some people are saying not only did he steal the show, he actually saved it. Are you feeling the love heading J.T.`s way?

ODUOLOWU: Absolutely, not only did he save the show, he got on stage and poured gasoline on the stage and then lit it on fire. It was the hands down, one of the best performances that I have ever seen at the VMAs. And what it should also serve as is a lesson to all those up and coming artists. This is the way to do it. He was a child star from his days with Disney to the boy band, and he has never been -- had a whiff of controversy. He has managed to keep his name out of the media, and the only time you hear about him is for something worthwhile. It shows that it`s talent -- and look, talent, and then to bring it back and have N-Sync come on there with him, and it was just brilliant. It was well done, it was classy, it was sexy, but most important, it was smart. It was smart.

(CROSSTALK)

HAMMER: You mentioned N-Sync, and it was 11 years that the fans have been waiting for that moment, Justin reuniting with his buddies on stage, we have to watch a little bit of that.

(MUSIC)

HAMMER: So, Jenny, as a huge N-Sync fan back in the day when that song was at the top of the charts. Listen, a lot of people were saying they were a little disappointed because of how short it was, but for you, Jenny, as a super fan, was it worth the wait?

HUTT: OK, it was totally worth the wait, because it was just fun to see the guys back in action. And I was a little comforted by the fact that they have aged right along with me.

HAMMER: And Nischelle? Everybody in that theater --

(CROSSTALK)

HAMMER: Everybody at the Barkwood (ph) center was on their feet last night.

ODUOLOWU: Do not sell yourself short.

(CROSSTALK)

TURNER: Well, Segun is right, do not sell yourself short, because everyone was on their feet last night. Everyone felt like Jenny. So that brings us to the big reveal. Our no. 1 on our countdown of today`s top 3 VMA show stoppers, and it`s Taylor Swift, caught on camera at the VMA`s dropping the big old f-bomb. And we cleaned it up a little bit with this video, but did Taylor Swift actually call out her ex, Harry Styles, during the show? He and all the guys from One Direction were up on stage presenting an award, and it looked as if Taylor, who was sitting next to Selena Gomez, actually said shut the bleep up. Jenny. You watched it play out, do you think she said that?

HUTT: Totally. I loved it, it was perfect, it was exactly how a jilted girl feels when things do not work out with a guy she likes. And I have got to tell you, I met those boys from One Direction, and Harry Styles was super polite, so I think it`s just the personal situation rearing its ugly head.

TURNER: I think AJ said it best. They are never, ever, ever getting back together.

HUTT: Right.

TURNER: I want to show you a picture from Instagram though. Taylor and Harry, (inaudible) photo at one of the VMA`s after parties. Segun, they look friendly enough here. Do you think she was f-bombing under her breath like --

(CROSSTALK)

ODUOLOWU: My -- listen, and I know I`m going to get killed on Twitter for saying this. Taylor Swift is not my demographic, and that is fine, she is talented, do your thing. But f-bombing your ex on stage, she is the girl that writes songs and wins awards because of her music about her exes. If anyone should be f-bombing anyone, Harry should be f-bombing Taylor.

(CROSSTALK)

HUTT: No, you are so wrong.

ODUOLOWU: Jake Gyllenhaal, Harry Styles, everyone else that she`s ever dated that she`s written a song about that made her career, they should all come out one award show and f-bomb the heck out of her and be like, we built your career.

(CROSSTALK)

TURNER: Segun, you sound a little angry. I think you need to put pen to pad and write a couple of songs about a couple of exes.

ODUOLOWU: Exactly.

TURNER: You sound upset.

ODUOLOWU: No, my exes get to see me on TV.

(CROSSTALK)

TURNER: Good one.

Harry just said in an interview that he would be surprised if he became the next ex that Taylor writes a song about. A.J., I`m thinking I don`t know, consider that done. I think the song is already written. What do you think?

HAMMER: What else is she going to be writing about? I was much taller than Bruno Mars at the VMAs. I`m going to sing a song about that. By the way, did you notice that?

TURNER: I did.

HAMMER: I`m thinking for that little moment, she should have said, when she was mouthing those words, shut the up and borrowed Miley`s foam finger.

TURNER: Exactly.

HAMMER: Listen, Jenny and Segun, we want you to stay right where you are, because we need, we have to have you weigh in on today`s Kardashian chaos. It`s big tonight. Khloe and Lamar in trouble. Khloe lashing out on Twitter. There were these disturbing reports running wild about her marriage and her man`s alleged struggles with addiction. What is Khloe saying about the whole frenzy? Plus, this is really, really cool. Really cool. Hulk`s arm wrestling showdown. What happens when a Wrestlemania legend takes on the mayor of Toronto? That is still ahead on our moment of SHOWBIZ awesomeness. This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

KANYE WEST: I thought it was really cool, like on, you know, her grandmother`s season finale, to -- to bring a picture.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Of baby North?

WEST: Of North.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

TURNER: Finally. Baby North West is revealed to the world. Look at her, and the chaos surrounding that first look at the newest member of the Kardashian clan falls right in line with the family`s big headline today. AJ, who would have called this one? Khloe and Lamar`s reported marriage troubles actually trumping the debut of baby North.

HAMMER: Nischelle, a lot of people are asking today, is Khloe Kardashian`s marriage in crisis tonight? There are new reports today that the couple may soon split up, and this is following TMZ reporting that the marriage has been strained because Lamar allegedly used drugs. Now, Khloe has responded for the very first time. I want to read what she just tweeted. She said, "Really hard to sit here and listen to people talk expletive about my family, expletive you and shame on you." She did not actually use the word expletive. She used an expletive.

Jenny Hutt is the host of "Just Jenny" on Sirius XM Radio. She is back with us, along with entrainment journalist Segun in Hollywood. And, Jenny, I have got to know what it says that Khloe Kardashian felt the need to respond and so strongly on Twitter.

HUTT: Yes.

HAMMER: She is ticked off.

HUTT: I think she is hurting. I get it. These people allow cameras into their lives, and so we think that there is a presumption that we should see everything that happens. But let`s give her a break, it`s really upsetting when your marriage falls apart. That is icky, I feel for her, I think we should just let her figure it out, and I hope the addiction stories are not true frankly. But then we are just a malicious, disgusting society, so I don`t really know anymore.

HAMMER: We don`t really know what is exactly going on with them, and Segun, listen, we understand it does come with the territory when you are a Kardashian, you put your life out there, that people are going to talk about you. We get it. But in terms of the way she responded to this, I don`t want to read too much into it, but it was pretty out of character.

ODUOLOWU: I have to cry shenanigans on the whole thing. First, Jenny, they don`t allow cameras in, they beg and invite the cameras in, they built their whole careers on having the cameras in. And going to Twitter -- so, if you don`t want people to talk about you, so you go to social media where they`re going to talk about you. It`s like schadenfreude at its highest level. What are you doing? Come on, like we`re better than that. If you don`t want people to be into your marriage, then shut it all down. Get off social media and do it the old-fashioned way. Sit down with your husband, fiance, et cetera, have the conversation behind closed doors. Don`t go to Twitter and say, you guys do not know anything about my family. All you are doing is stoking the fire.

HUTT: Yes, but I think she had an emotional reaction. I think for her, it was like she vomited it out, she had to say what she felt, which was shut the up.

ODUOLOWU: When I have an emotional reaction, I go to my room and write in my journal. I do not go to Twitter and say, hey, everyone that is following me, guess what.

(CROSSTALK)

HAMMER: Your name is also not Segun Kardashian, but you did make a great point, Segun, it`s not like they said, oh, yes, you have permission into come to our house and film us. We grant that to you. But we did reach out to Khloe and Lamar, and we haven`t heard back from them by our show deadline, but Khloe`s sister Kourtney is having her own drama right now. There is a man named Michael Girgenti. He`s been claiming that he is the father of Kourtney`s son, Mason. Kourtney called that ridiculous, and now this shocker from Michael`s appearance on the Trisha Goddard show, it`s going to air on September 17th. And for the show, he underwent a lie detector test, and here is what happened.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

TRISHA GODDARD, TALK SHOW HOST: Michael, we asked you, are you telling the truth about having sexual intercourse with Kourtney? You said yes.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The polygraph determined that Michael was not being truthful.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: That is not good for him. He failed a lie detector test, Jenny. If he`s not telling the truth, you have got to wonder what the guy was thinking saying this?

HUTT: I think he is just blurring the lines between reality and fantasy.

That`s what I think happened there.

HAMMER: All right, fair enough, we will see how it plays out. Got to leave it there. Jenny, Segun, thank you both so much.

From the Kardashian chaos to a red carpet frenzy. It`s the VMA hair- dos and don`ts. Miley Cyrus is not the only star who took her chances at the VMAs. Which stars made the cut? And wait until you see what we have named as our moment of SHOWBIZ awesomeness. This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: It was a hairy night at the VMAs, not just because of Miley Cyrus`s hair-raising performance. All kinds of hair do`s and hair don`ts. Right now, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is breaking them down. The question is which ones missed the cut? And Nischelle, of course, you were right there, you got to see the hair, you probably touched some of it at the VMAs, and sometimes you got very close and personal with these people.

TURNER: AJ, there can be nothing more personal than your hair, I should know. And the stars really seemed to be out-doing themselves. Celebrity hair stylist, actually check that, hair guru, Chaz Dean with us tonight. He is the founder of Wen Hair, and Body Care by Chaz Dean. Thank you for joining us tonight, Chaz.

I want to begin with Miley. When I first saw her, I could not help thinking what is going on? Now, we have the twerking dance performance outside, but what about the hair? You like this look?

CHAZ DEAN, FOUNDER, WEN HAIR AND BODY CARE: No, no, no. It definitely looks like she did it herself. It`s the VMAs and you want to see rock and roll, and this was not rock and roll. This was at home giving herself a facial, it looks like. So, no, no, no.

TURNER: That is what I do to my hair at night when I want to take it down in the morning and have it be wavy. I sleep with it in knots like that.

(LAUGHTER)

DEAN: Exactly, that`s how I tell women you want those beachy waves, put it up like that at night, take it down. She forgot to take it down, I think.

TURNER: Or something. Whatever we have to say about Miley, I think we can all agree that last night, and I know I thought this, Jennifer Hudson looked awesome. When she came up to me on the red carpet and then put her hair up when she performed "Same Love" with Macklemore, I just think she can do no wrong, Chaz.

DEAN: She absolutely looked incredible. I love the soft ambre, that in your face ambre is gone, gone, gone. She had the subtle auburn ends. She looked beautiful.

TURNER: I also ran into Selena Gomez at the VMAs last night, and her hair was flowing, and she looked really, really pretty. But I had to know about her dress, so watch what she told me.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

TURNER: Tell me who you are wearing.

SELENA GOMEZ: I`m wearing (INAUDIBLE) Versace.

TURNER: You are all grown up.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

TURNER: Wait a minute. Somebody showed my tennis shoes I had on last night. Yes, my feet hurt and they showed my tennis shoes. Let me tell you, she is more grown up these days. Not just sometimes. What do you think Chaz, what about her hair, does it do it for you?

DEAN: Her hair works. I think it was really safe. What I really would have wanted is for that top flap not to be there. It`s the VMAs, and you want rock and roll, so get rid of that flap, and I think she would have really rocked it.

TURNER: You know, Taylor Swift also had a really short hairdo last night, lots of curls, I thought it was pretty. What did you think?

DEAN: It was pretty, she looked more like she was going on the red carpet for the Oscars. I want to see her with full sexy, glam hair. It`s the VMAs. Show us rock and roll there.

TURNER: She has been trying to do this kind of sex glam, I`m a bit of an adult lately on the red carpet. She`s been looking beautiful, but you are right, I think it was a little much for the VMAs. Let me ask you your absolute favorite of the night. Who was it?

DEAN: My favorite of the night is a toss between Jennifer Hudson and Ciara. Ciara looked amazing. Amazing, stunning.

TURNER: Yes, she did. And that dress she had on was Givenchy, and it looked fantastic.

DEAN: Uh-huh.

TURNER: Fantastic. All right, Chaz Dean, thank you so much.

(CROSSTALK)

TURNER: I love breaking it down with you.

DEAN: Thank you.

HAMMER: Nobody mentioned Justin Timberlake`s hair. That was pretty good, wasn`t it?

All right, well, some looks as we know are just classic, like Hulk Hogan`s classic handkerchief hairdo, look at that, you can`t go wrong. Hulk taking his look and wrestlemania on the road. So what happens when he arm wrestled the mayor of Toronto? It is a showdown like no other and it`s our moment of SHOWBIZ awesomeness. This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Time for SHOWBIZ awesomeness, when we reveal the most awesome story of the day. Tonight, the Hulk goes down. I`m serious, the wrestling icon just apparently met his match. You are not going to believe who it is. It was a new kind of wrestlemania when the mayor of Toronto took on the legendary Hulk Hogan. This was an arm wrestling match to kick off Fan Expo up in Canada. You got to watch this, it`s Toronto Mayor Rob Ford taking on his childhood hero, the Hulk.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

HULK HOGAN: Oh, big man. That`s all you got, huh? Oh! Oh, brother, you know something? Not only am I going to rip this arm off, I`m going to take your job while I`m at it, brother.

(CROSSTALK)

ROB FORD, TORONTO MAYOR: I own this town, man!

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Look at that. That is mad talk coming from the Hulk, the mayor came out on top. Nischelle, I guess he can beat city hall.

TURNER: Apparently, you know, I don`t know what the mayor really had some gumption challenging Hulk Hogan to an arm wrestling match. But look at him there, he is hyped. He`s really hyped.

HAMMER: Hulk did not throw that at all.

TURNER: No, not at all.

HAMMER: No chance.

Well, coming up next on "Dr. Drew on Call," Jodi Arias back in court today for the first time since a jury convicted her three months ago of murdering her ex, Travis Alexander. How has the delay affected Jodi? And what about Travis`s family? Dr. Drew starts now.
