DR. DREW PINSKY, HLN HOST (voice-over): Tonight, a teacher accused of sexual abuse -- confronted, questioned and recorded, years later by the apparent victim.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: You realized you brainwashed me and manipulated me and that what you did was wrong?
PINSKY: Is this a way to settle a score?
Plus, two children murdered in an exorcism at the hands of their own mother. How does this happen? The behavior bureau wants to know.
And Madonna`s misstep, Justin Bieber`s mistake and Dennis Rodman in rehab.

My co-host is attorney and Sirius XM radio host Jenny Hutt.
We have some astonishing stories tonight. In addition to what you just saw on that video strip, we also are covering the hundreds of dolphins being rounded up for slaughter, Jenny, it`s unbelievable. You have to see this story.
JENNY HUTT, ATTORNEY: Disgusting.
PINSKY: It`s on fire on social media. We have the breaking news and some troubling, troubling video. We will get to that story.
Jane Velez-Mitchell is going to join us, as well as many of our panelists.
But first, another astonishing story. A woman confronts a person she claims sexually abused her when she was 12. She says it was her teacher. She recorded the call on a video and posted it on YouTube. Amazing.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yes.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: So, what happened when a student comes in and says that they`re having sexual relationship with the teacher?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Then I would involve law enforcement.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: So, how is that any different from what you did when I was at (INAUDIBLE) middle?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: It`s not?

PINSKY: That video has had over 110,000 views since that young lady posted it Friday.

First up, CNN Espanol`s Jacqueline Hurtado joins us on the phone.
Jackie, what is the latest?
JACQUELINE HURTADO, CNN ESPANOL (via telephone): Dr. Drew, these allegations are more than a decade old, but apparently, serious enough that a teacher has stepped away from her post. The alleged victim who`s now 28 said she was abused when she was 12 years old and claims the abuse happened at her middle school.
The alleged victim also said the reason why she decided to speak up after so many years and post this video on YouTube is because now, she has kids of her own and she doesn`t want this to happen to her children. She also said that she considered filing charges against the administrator, but just found out the statute of limitations had expired and the school district has issued a statement saying the administrator has resigned and is no longer an employee and also said that the police is investigating this case and looking into other possible victims.
We have tried to reach out and get a comment from the administrator about this incident, but we haven`t heard from her in regards to these allegations.
PINSKY: Appreciate that. Jacqueline, thank you so much.
The teacher, as Jackie mentioned, the accused teacher, was most recent administrator to California high school. The school told us they interviewed the teacher and that she resigned. The alleged abuse took place in a different school district. Police in that city told us they are aware of the allegations and expect investigators will follow up.
Jillian, what do you think?
JILLIAN BARBERIE, TV PERSONALITY: Dr. Drew, you know, kudos to this woman for coming forward at 28 and doing something. What`s to stop this teacher from doing it to many other students? You know, yes, it took her many years, but like she said, she had her own children.
This is not uncommon, I don`t think. I think we get shocked because it`s a female teacher, but the power of social media is unbelievable and I commend this young woman for doing what she did and obviously, she wasn`t lying because the woman fessed up on the phone.
PINSKY: Well, and what I thought was interesting, Wendy, she talked about brainwashing. It`s probably a long time before this young lady woke up to the fact, hey, wait a minute, that was sexual abuse. That wasn`t -- we weren`t in love. That`s an adult with a 12-year-old.
WENDY WALSH, PSYCHOTHERAPIST: Yes, Dr. Drew, and I know that it`s very common for adult clients to suddenly go, what? That was done to me? I thought I was just a bad kid -- whether it had to do with sexual abuse or some of the other things that were sort of doctored by adults.
But let me say this -- going public is not necessarily the best therapeutic thing for this young girl. This is a tragic, this is an awful injury.
And now, you know, social media may be powerful, but sometimes, it`s very negative and I don`t think it`s fair for her to get sort of the pushback she might get once this video goes really viral and all the comments out there.
PINSKY: Yes. Wendy --
WALSH: It could potentially re-injure her more.
PINSKY: Yes, that has been my experience.
Jillian, I want to go back to you. Can you talk about personal stuff? Do you mind? Are you up for that?
BARBERIE: No, I don`t. You know, I was thinking about it earlier because I was molested by a girl many years ago, not in authority position whatsoever. Very different, she was eighth grade, I was fifth grade.
PINSKY: Well, my question is do you think it would have been useful, too? Because I find it`s usually not. At certain circumstances, it is. But as Wendy said, it usually is more problematic when you go confront the abuser. Would you -- did you feel that way? Did you have a chance to confront the abuser?
BARBERIE: I did not. But let me tell you something -- I have almost 300,000 followers on Twitter, and I would do to this day, if I could, I just -- I don`t know what her situation is, I wouldn`t want to maybe reach out and ruin her, I don`t know her life. I mean, she was in the eighth grade, so she is probably married with kids.
WALSH: She was a child.
SAMANTHA SCHACHER, POP TRIGGER: But, Dr. Drew --
BARBERIE: Right, exactly.
(CROSSTALK)
PINSKY: Sam --
SCHACHER: Isn`t there something powerful though? I understand completely what everyone is saying on the panel. But there`s always something powerful to her posting this video.
PINSKY: Yes.
SCHACHER: I looked at all the comments under this YouTube, and so many people have reached out who have also been victims of abuse and saying, listen, thank you so much for posting this. You`re giving me the power and courage to stand up and also come forward with my past abuse stories or to actually confront the person that abused me, so I commend this girl 100 percent.
PINSKY: I kind of agree, Sam.
But, yes, Jenny, you agree, too?
JENNY HUTT, CO-HOST: Well, I agree completely, because I didn`t have what Jillian went through, but I went through something, I talked about it before on the show, that happened to me as a kid, it wasn`t as bad as this story, but, frankly, talking about it made it less dark, less awful.
BARBERIE: It takes that evil power away from it.
HUTT: Right.
PINSKY: Well, the other thing is that she -- it sounded like she`s been struggling with this, according to what Jacqueline Hurtado reported, she`d been sort of making these accusations for a while. And this may have put more teeth in it.
Erica, do you agree with that?
ERICA AMERICA, Z100 RADIO PERSONALITY: Yes, definitely. But my question is about the power of social media, in this case, if it turns out it is true, it can be a positive thing. But what if it weren`t true? I think we have to be careful about the power of social media with people with malicious intent.
PINSKY: Well, OK. Let`s watch more of the video and judge for yourself. Take a look.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I only -- I just wanted to help you.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: You should be so ashamed and so disgusted with yourself.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I am. I am.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I regret it every day.

PINSKY: Now, the accused teacher said it was not something she intended and doesn`t know how it happened.
HUTT: Oh, come on.
PINSKY: There you go, Erica.
AMERICA: She apologized. Because she apologized over and over again makes me think she is definitely aware of what she did. I mean, a fugue state if that`s what we`re kind of referring to here, is a rare psychiatric disorder that involves reversible amnesia and it`s usually episodic. So, if this happened over months, it would have made sense that in a fugue state, all these kinds of abuse happened.
So, I think she was aware and I think the young woman was just kind of hitting her on the head with it so much that she just said I don`t know how it happened, but I think she does.
PINSKY: It was. I think she means --
BARBERIE: How narcissistic of teacher?
PINSKY: Well, listen, the teacher is not well. I think that`s what she was saying. But seeming like she had contrition, she was regretful.
During a news conference today, Jamie, the victim, was asked to describe how the woman had brainwashed her. Take a look at this.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: She told me my family didn`t love me. She told me that nobody cared about me. And that she was the only one that loved me and the only one that was there for me. She made me believe that she was my only friend. And that I could trust her.

PINSKY: Wendy, coercion and control. People are actually changing the domestic violence, nomenclature, to talk about these kinds of coercive and control relationships. That`s how people -- brain washing, right?
WALSH: Yes, and when adults prey on these kinds of children, they don`t pick the children with the super strong families and involved parents. They picked ones where -- you know, in other words, when she told her these lies, she kind of had something to hang her hat on, and that`s the kind of victim that is most vulnerable. And so, that`s why it`s so tragic and it just breaks my heart to hear that.
But as you touched on later, and again, I am not defending this perpetrator by many means, but we have to understand the intergenerational transmission of these kinds of behaviors. I am sure this perpetrator is mentally ill herself or hurting in some way, and something was done to her when she was young.
PINSKY: But something I say all the time, and, Jillian, I`m going to give you the last words, is that if you`re having impulses where whatever you carry out could hurt another person, get help before you act on those impulses -- Jillian.
HUTT: Exactly.
BARBERIE: Absolutely. And I hate the fact and I know you guys are the clinical, you use the terms, but as a human being who had this happen to me, I had never done that, I would never do that.
And the fact is that this was a 12-year-old girl and I`m so tired of -- you know, these people know what they`re doing. The woman admitted it on the phone.
She`s an adult. She knew what she did. The girl said you ruined my life, yep, sorry, think about it every day, whatever.
It`s like really? Now, you have to pay the piper. That`s it.
HUTT: Right.
PINSKY: Next up, police say a woman stabbed two of her own children -- here we go again -- during what she calls an exorcism.
Later, Justin Bieber, the egg throwing allegations perhaps just the tip of the iceberg. A lot more information coming up.

Cops say a mother stabs two of her children to death and injures two others while performing something she calls an exorcism. You`ve got to see this.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Nothing I could have said.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Sickening story. (INAUDIBLE) is accused of stabbing her children, her 1-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: And trying to kill her two oldest children.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: My heart goes out to the children.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: A second woman who police say lived at the home is 21-year-old (INAUDIBLE) Stanford is also charged.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Police say the women believed they were performing an exorcism.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Everybody knew the mom suffered from mental illness. She was going to mental health counseling.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: There was nothing to lead us to think something like that was going on over here.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: When I heard the story, it just really broke my heart.

PINSKY: Joining us: Loni Coombs, former prosecutor, author of "You`re Perfect and Other Lies Parents Tell", Segun Oduolowu, social commentator, Mike Eiglarsh, attorney at speaktomark.com, and back with us, Jillian Barberie.
On the phone, I have CNN correspondent Jean Casarez.
Jean, you`re in Maryland right now. What is the latest in this ridiculous, horrible story?
JEAN CASAREZ, CNN CORRESPONDENT (via telephone): The latest is these two women have been arrested. The mother of the four children and her friend, authorities believe that she was the leader. The friend was the follower.
They are in jail tonight and their initial court appearance is tomorrow. But what police say, they found when they got to the house was first of all on the outside, a car -- with the car door open, a knife next to the car and blood. Right then and there, they had the probable cause to go into that house. They did.
And what they found inside was in the master bedroom, two of the children, the youngest, ages 1 and 2, stabbed multiple times, dead.
And I asked, how many times were they stabbed? And the answer was multiple times. I said, where, because that`s important to show that intent to kill and they said the majority were in the upper torso area.
Now, one child, alive, a female, multiple stab wounds found in another room, and then the mother was holding the other child, once again, with multiple stab wounds, but alive.
PINSKY: Wow. Jean, thank you so much. Please keep us posted.
Mark, you know, this is mental illness. Let`s call it what it is. But the acts were so heinous -- and, by the way, this business, the devil`s in the child. So we`ve got to go along with that. That is severe psychotic thinking.
What are the courts going to do with this?
MARK EIGLARSH, ATTORNEY: Well, rest assured these women are never going to get out of prison. The only defense that will be argued by their attorneys is that they didn`t know right from wrong.
And let`s make something clear -- they can both have severe mental illness. Prisons are packed with people who have mental illnesses. The issue is at the time they committed this abhorrent, horrific act, whether they knew right from wrong.
And the fact they fled from police when they came and some of the other actions, I think will make it clear for this jury that the only verdict is guilty and they`ll get a life sentence.
PINSKY: Loni, a day before the murders, before the murder, a neighbor had called 911 to report some activity at the home. Police knocked on the door. They left after no one responded. I`m not sure if they`re responsible and they did tell protective services to follow up, but then too late.
Did they have any culpability here?
LONI COOMBS, FORMER PROSECUTOR: Well, you know, it`s interesting. Police have to follow certain rules, whether they can go in the house or not. They did notify child services.
And what`s interesting is child services didn`t go there right away. They waited perhaps until the next day and it really shows that we need a 24/7 child services available in situations like this. You know, you can`t just be like every other government agency where they work 9:00 to 5:00. I mean, children are at risk all day and all night and we need people who respond immediately.
Now, I want to say one thing about the police officers, because they responded the second day, we have two children who are still alive who -- most likely -- if the police had not gone in when they did, we would have four dead children here.
So, we need to recognize what they did for them.
PINSKY: And, by the way, I think the -- Segun, you always throw a little dynamite into this, but I`m suspicious that it`s really not the shortcoming of the safety net, but of the child services and law enforcement, I`m sniffing a problem in the mental health delivery system, yet again. When somebody can go, oh, I just think it`s the devil. It`s my religious prerogative. Devil`s in my kid, so I can go do what I want.
SEGUN ODUOLOWU, SOCIAL COMMENTATOR: Dr. Drew -- here`s the thing, Dr. Drew. We make people take tests to get a driver`s license. To go to college, but anyone can have a kid.
And it may be unpopular, but we really need to start looking at are people unfit that are having children? Because we are seeing, if you`ve ever volunteered anywhere for abused children or battered children, it`s so prevalent in our society and so much of it gets swept under the rug, but there are parents that are just not prepared and should not be having kids.
PINSKY: And by the way --
ODUOLOWU: I know that everyone has the freedom to do whatever, but you know what? In a case like this, maybe we should have strict tests.
PINSKY: Well, but, Jenny, we`re not saying, I don`t think anyone`s going to say because they have mental illness, they shouldn`t have kids. There needs to be some other sort of standard for fitness for parenting. Where else --
(CROSSTALK)
HUTT: Well, I think, Dr. Drew, and I have no idea how you come by this standard, but if you`re the type of person who`s mental illness would lead you to kill your kid because you think your kid is inhabited by the devil, maybe you shouldn`t have them.
(CROSSTALK)
HUTT: So sick.
PINSKY: I want to bring somebody interesting in. Her name is Brynne Larson. She performs exorcisms.
Brynne, now, my understanding though is that you really are in your practice, careful to screen out for real bona fide mental illness, correct?
BRYNNE LARSON, PERFORMS EXORCISM (via telephone): Absolutely. This happened with this mother and her children, this was not even actually exorcism. There were no knives. There`s no physical violence. Nobody ends up dead in a real exorcism.
PINSKY: Jillian, I haven`t heard your thoughts on this yet.
BARBERIE: You know, Dr. Drew, last week, I was here and we reported on two different sets of mothers that had murdered their children. It was suicide.
You know, I feel like we were saying neighbors have to get involved. Watch out for your neighborhood. Look for signs.
And here`s a perfect example where the neighbor did do the right thing and they called the police and somebody somewhere somehow failed, the system failed.
EIGLARSH: I don`t know about that.
(CROSSTALK)
COOMBS: What about the dad? What about the dad?
ODUOLOWU: Mental illness.
PINSKY: What about the dad, Loni? What about that?
COOMBS: Yes, what about the dad? I mean, he must have known or should have known that the mother of his children had that history of mental illness, that she had been hospitalized twice, that apparently he had left and moved away.
I understand not living with someone, but perhaps stay nearby so you can keep an eye on your children. These are your children. You have a responsibility, too, as father to make sure that your children are well taken care of.

EIGLARSH: The rare exception, Drew, is that there`s some kind of signs that would lead people to believe that the extraordinary act that results as something they should have foreseen. Must of the time, they don`t advertise they`re going to commit some horrific act. I agree that everyone needs to look out, if there are signs, report them. But unfortunately, this is what happens.
PINSKY: Let`s bring in behavior bureau to weigh on this case.
ODUOLOWU: You can`t predict that a mother is going to kill her kids.
PINSKY: Well, let`s bring in the behavior bureau to weigh on this. The mom of course accused of killing her kids.
And next, after that we finish that story, we are going into the horrific tale of hundreds of dolphins trapped in a small cove in Japan, where activists say they will be either sold into captivity or slaughtered.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: There`s problems going on in the home and they`re seeking mental help. And they`re not getting mental help. What can we do to stop?

PINSKY: That`s what I`m suspicious of, Jenny. I`m suspicious that the system, the mental health system failed her. She wasn`t required to take her medication. She wasn`t hospitalized when she became psychotic. Something on that order, I smell it.
HUTT: OK. But, Dr. Drew, I`m going to go back to what everyone was saying, where`s the community? In my family, if I started talking like I was going to exorcise my kids, or whatever, they would take my kids and move them or me.
PINSKY: You mean, you wouldn`t be like the other woman who just joined the exorcism?
(CROSSTALK)
HUTT: Exactly, right.
PINSKY: Who allegedly killed two of her children in what she describes as an exorcism.
Bring in the behavior bureau here. Now, Sam, Wendy, Erica America. And joining us, Tom Green, host of "Tom Green Live", Thursdays on AXS Television.
Wendy, so here we go again. You know, post-partum psychosis or an exacerbation of underlying psychotic illness, and nobody there to capture this woman before she does some damage.
WALSH: Exactly. We don`t know what her mental health was before she started having so many closely spaced babies, but we certainly know that a post-partum event can exacerbate anything that was going on.
Now, my concern is, Jenny, I`ve got to echo it with you, honey. We have evolved to this place where we leave nuclear families isolated. Or worse, single mothers with stressful lives, small children, isolated, where are the interconnectedness of communities here?
HUTT: Right.
WALSH: Where are the baby daddies? Is there one father there or more than one? I don`t know.
And where are the extended family and relatives? Because these children have -- there are many, many people who have a biological interest in those children and they should have been around.
PINSKY: Tom, I`m just curious to get your thoughts. Go right ahead.
TOM GREEN, TOM GREEN SHOW: Well, obviously, this is you know, a horrible situation, Dr. Drew.
I have a question, actually. If it`s post-partum psychosis and there is a friend involved, who is participating here on this exorcism, how can two people be suffering post-partum psychosis at the same time?
PINSKY: It`s a great question. The other person actually is more of a mystery to me than the mom. The mom either has a post-partum psychosis and/or exacerbation of a chronic underlying psychiatric illness.
The cohort --
GREEN: Throw up the picture of the friend, too. Throw up the picture of the friend, too. I mean, she looks like she`s having some sort of --
PINSKY: Trouble.
(CROSSTALK)
GREEN: Looks like she needs an exorcism, actually.
PINSKY: A shared delusional system, which I`m not very familiar with. I don`t know if you`ve ever worked with that.
GREEN: I just felt I had to comment, something`s going on there.
WALSH: Yes. I have a hard time judging any kind of mug shot because I could only imagine what I would like if a mug shot were taken and what kind of head space I`d be in in that moment. So, it`s a stressful time to have your picture taken anyway.
But having said that, you know, who knows that maybe this woman might have been brought in because she`s the one who had the mystical beliefs and the exorcism and the hallucinations and the mother, in her post-partum or whatever was just sort of compliant with what was going on. We don`t know the whole story.
But you can have two different people with two different mental disorders can commit a crime together for different reason.
PINSKY: Yes. And, Sam, my understanding was there was --
(CROSSTALK)
PINSKY: Go ahead, Tom.
GREEN: I`m just saying, you got to admit, it`s a pretty bad mug shot.
PINSKY: We will admit that. Well -- point taken.
But, Sam, my understanding is that the mom had recently separated from this husband. She was having financial difficulties. So, whatever was going on, it was multiple layers.
SCHACHER: No, you`re right, Dr. Drew. She was under a lot of stress.
And that`s the thing, I mean, you hit the nail on the head earlier, that when people are suffering from mental illness, this woman clearly was, she needs to go get help and that`s where this system is broken. There is not nearly enough mental health services out there to cater to everybody that`s suffering from mental health issues.
Plus, there is still a huge stigma. Even if somebody is demonstrating some mental health warning signs, that they`re suffering, sometimes, their family members are ashamed or they see it as a sign of weakness, or that they`re crazy. And they may not say anything at all and we need to break down this stigma and start treating like you -- you say all the time, Dr. Drew, treating above the neck like we would below the neck.
PINSKY: Thank you, we`ve got to leave it there, guys. Thank you. panel.

HOLT: Oh, man. Well, let me tell you exactly what I`ve got going on. Information that we found out regarding what was in his house the day of the raid. And Drew, I know that we talked about the fact that when they have got a warrant for -- to search a house, anything`s up for grabs at that point, you know, whatever they find in the house, but what`s interesting, we found out that when cops went in there that day, it was a treasure-trove of just drugs and other paraphernalia in there. We know from our sources, there were three cookie jars full of weed. And these are like glass cookie jars that were full of weed. We know there were --
PINSKY: Somebody had a prescription, Dax, come on now.
HOLT: That`s the thing. Here`s the thing. So, four to five empty codeine bottles, which you obviously make scissors (ph) from. The double cups laying around everywhere. Three bongs, and a smoking room. A lot of people are going, I don`t understand, if the cops walked in there, did the not arrest him for any of this stuff? And we know that this warrant was very specific -- they had to walk in, they had to go basically through the surveillance video and they couldn`t walk over, start opening jars, start checking prescriptions, make sure people had them. They only could arrest Lil Za for what they saw out on the table, which was that (INAUDIBLE) and that was about it.
PINSKY: Okay, Dax, thank you so much. Again, people who don`t know what scissorp (ph) is, it`s promethazine (ph), which is sort of an anti-nauseal cough syrup with codeine, with basically cough syrup in a soda with some jolly ranchers, sometimes they throw in. It`s basically drinking cough syrup with codeine. It`s a pretty nasty combination, ver dangerous. Can cause seizures.

PINSKY: E! News is reporting that they spoke to the Los Angeles sheriff`s department, and the police did not find Bieber`s home, quote, filled with drugs. E! reports there were no codeine bottles and no marijuana. CNN cannot independently confirm any of the information that E! News nor TMZ is reporting. CNN reached out to Justin Bieber`s camp and received a no comment.
Jillian, it seems like this egg throwing thing suddenly became more significant. I`m actually worried for this kid.
BERBERIE: I was wondering if you were going to express that at all when the codeine and cough syrup came up. I`m not surprised this would be weed in his house; he`s a young pop star, it is legal in California. Who knows? Maybe he has a sore back from all that touring and dancing, but the codeine got me a little suspicious. He`s young and listen, he`s super talented.
PINSKY: No fooling that stuff.
BERBERIE: He has access to all of - what`s that?
PINSKY: Yep, that - codeine is an opiate. Codeine is an opiate. It`s like a relative of all the other opiates like heroin and oxicontin and it can cause a serious addiction. Segun, you wanted to comment?
ODUOLOWU: I went to school in Houston, and before I went on the show, I was talking to one of my dear, dear friends in Houston, and we`re familiar with the effects of codeine. In fact, a Houstonian rapper actually died from it in a Los Angeles hotel a couple of years back.
So, you`re right. It is very addictive. Kids as young as high school kids are using it. But you know, it`s not that. It`s not the drug use as Jillian said. He is a pop star. What bothers me is we`re acting like we`re so surprised this pop star has drugs in his house. What we should be doing is why isn`t there anyone around him helping to govern him? He`s 19 years old. There`s no adults anywhere around him to take ownership for this 19-year-old.
PINSKY: He`s an adult.

PINSKY: Finish up. Mark first. Give me your thoughts on why there wasn`t more legal action taken, then Loni finish me up.
EIGLARSH: First of all, I give kudos to the law enforcement officers who probably were tempted to start going in through jars to see what this suspect marijuana truly was, but the search warrant, the constitution, has certain parameters and you can`t do that, so what they can do is use the observations and use that to get another search warrant to go back and seize drugs.
PINSKY: Loni, last thought.
COOMBS: Yeah, Dr. Drew, I think what you`re saying is very important. Just because they do this drug in Fanta and Jolly Ranchers, it sounds like it`s a fun kid drug. It`s not. It can hurt him, it can cause seizures, it can kill him, and people who love him, his mother and his manager and his close friends, really need to tell him you need to stop this drug use. You need to get help now before it`s too late.

Now, we`re going to get to the story of hundreds of dolphins trapped in a small cove in Japan. These dolphins are in distress, they are starving, they are facing death. It`s really heartbreaking when you see this story. Jane Velez-Mitchell joins us with the latest.

PINSKY: And again a warning, this video is tough to watch. We are back with Jenny and Tom, Sam, Jillian, and HLN`s own Jane Velez-Mitchell.
Jane, that was a look at hundreds of dolphins trapped in a cove in Japan. They are frantic to escape, they have not eaten in days. We hear that they`re scheduled for slaughter tomorrow, some may be taken into captivity, and that this is a tradition in Taiji, Japan. Give me the latest, Jane.
JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL, HLN HOST: Well, the dolphin slaughter has begun and this is something we just received. We have been told that by an activist who is there in Taiji about an hour ago and we`ve confirmed it with indeed the local fishing community saying they`re not stopping. They don`t care that the eyes of the world are upon them. Literally because this is being live streamed by the organization Sea Shepherd around the world and there is world outrage of -- this a very violent, violent, violent process. The sea turns red with blood.
And we know that the new U.S. ambassador to Japan, Caroline Kennedy has now tweeted - and really, really a very strong tweet expressing for an Ambassador expressing deep concern over the inhumaneness of the drive hunt (ph) dolphin killing. Also, John Lennon`s widow, Yoko Ono, has just written an open letter urging that this stop, that this slaughter not proceed, saying you do not want the children of the world to hate the Japanese.
Yoko Ono, Japanese herself, and so, you`re seeing more and more people. There are a slew of change.org petitions right now, gathering tens of thousands of signatures. The entire world beating its chest saying why? Stop it.
Well, one of the whys according to the activists who were there and indeed, it`s generally acknowledged that they kill the ones that are not pretty, but the pretty ones go to marine parks and aquariums, and that is largely something that happens around the world, including the west. So, look in the mirror if you don`t like it.
PINSKY: I`m watching everyone`s face. Sam, you look stricken by this story.
SCHACHER: I`m in tears. I mean, this is just such -- as Jane just said. I`ve seen footage, I`ve seen this before, and it is so brutal, and violent, and you see the dolphins completely panic stricken and trying to leap over the nets and they get injured in the process, and they`re trying to connect with their pods and I saw footage of one fisherman cheer as he captured and slaughtered a dolphin.
It`s just - it`s absolutely disgusting and disturbing and I`m just so grateful to all the activists out there, to the change.org positions, to Jane, to Sea Shepherd, just thank you, thank you, thank you. I think this needs to stop. It`s barbaric and disgusting.
PINSKY: Sam, I have somebody from Sea Shepherd on the phone, it`s Melissa Sehgal, she is, as I said, with Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. She is in Japan tonight, she joins us by phone. Melissa, you are trying to put a stop to all this. What`s happening right now?
MELISSA SEHGAL, SEA SHEPHERD COVE GUARDIAN LEADER: Hi, Dr. Drew. Yes, I`m in Taiji with the Sea Shepherd Organization here, documenting the Taiji slaughter, and what the world is witnessing the last four days is what we witness every day for six months of the year. The drive hunts begin September 1st and continue throughout March 1st. This happens every year and hundreds of hundreds of dolphins are slaughtered and taken captive and shipped to marine parks around the world.
So what drew immediate media attention this time is it was the largest bottlenose pod that has been driven in since our campaign four years ago and 250 plus bottlenose dolphins have been driven in, 51 of those were taken captain and will be soon shipped to various dolphinariums, swim with dolphin programs, and marine parks around the world. That`s where the money is coming in. That`s what`s funding the slaughter, is that these dolphins are worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

PINSKY: Now - thank you Melissa. Jenny, before you comment I have to report that the mayor of Taiji defended the practice as legal, saying quote, "we have fisherman in our community and they are exercising their fishing rights. We feel that we need to protect our residents against the criticisms." By the way, the government has a catching quota, so to speak, for hinting in this area at 2,026 dolphins and porpoises. Jenny.
HUTT: I`d like to take all those fishermen and put them in captivity and put them in the water and herded. That`s what I`d like to do, Dr. Drew.
PINSKY: Tom, is Canada reacting to this?
GREEN: I`m sure Canadians are as outraged as people in America and around the world. I don`t really have a lot to add about this that hasn`t been said already. It`s obviously a horrific situation. I think we relate to dolphins because they`re an intelligent mammal. This is a smart fish, right? People eat fish all the time, but this is a smart mammal that is -- we`ve swam with them and get to see them up close. So, I would just say that anybody watching this disgusting video that we`re looking at right now should get on social media, get on Twitter and express your outrage about what`s going on.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Amen.
PINSKY: And Jillian, they`re social animals. They seem to have things like empathy and awareness of others, and that`s where we really -- it`s not a fish.
BERBERIE: And Dr. Drew, the bottom line is you were talking about Canada. Remember the seal hunt outraged Canadians and the world. This is similar in that we look at this as so barbaric and brutal, but yet it falls under the guise of tradition. It`s tradition. We`re allowed to do any inhumane act like this. I mean I think any person with a conscience wouldn`t want to be part of this and Jane, I have a question for you. They don`t seem to have any remorse about this, so how do we - they know the world`s eyes are on them. They know where social media -
PINSKY: Or do they?

PINSKY: Hang on a second. I also understand that Anonymous has closed down their media outlets or something, or the social media outlets? Jane, answer that question.
VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, let me say this: as for tradition, critics say it`s hogwash that essentially, this has only be going on for about 45 years. When you think about it, theme parks haven`t been in existence for hundreds of years. The idea that this is a tradition, they`re - the critics are saying that`s bogus. That it`s not true. And additionally, as far as feeding hungry people, studies have been done on these dolphins and the producers of the cove say they tested them and their mercury levels are so high that they`re poisonous, that you shouldn`t eat them. That they`re beyond the legal limit for food consumption in Japan, so there`s no reason except money. Follow the money.

Are there things -- specific things people can do tonight?
VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, certainly, they can join Sea Shepherd. Go there. Go to the website, seashepherd.org, and check out the live stream. It`s just an example of the power of the media. Putting a spotlight on this. They weren`t even covering it according to the activists I spoke to in Japan. The Japanese people really didn`t know about this, and then with the statements by Caroline Kennedy, of course the daughter of the late president John F. Kennedy, as well as Yoko Ono, now the Japanese media are being forced to show the people - respond and show the people of Japan what`s going on and many of them are also upset about this. It`s not like there`s a monolithic support of this, there are many humane people in Japan who are very offended and upset by this.
PINSKY: Yeah, it`s certainly -- there`s sort of nothing more to be said. It`s abhorrent, it`s difficult to watch. It`s something that`s now attracted a bit of attention and I hope people take action. I see Sam there actually getting on her phone. I imagine that`s what you`re doing, Sam.
SCHACHER: Oh, well Dr. Drew, I`ve always been an advocate, along with Sea Shepherd and yes, I`m, as we speak in the break, I was also tweeting about it because we need to continue as Tom said earlier, and as Jane just said, continue to be our own advocates for these dolphins because you know what? They can`t speak for themselves. Only we can.

I wonder if Tom and Jillian can stick around for this next story. I`m going to give you my thoughts on Dennis Rodman checking into rehab (ph) for alcoholism. Ashleigh Banfield sort of took issue with that. I want to get everyone`s thoughts. Back after this.

PINSKY: Back with Jenny Hutt, I`ve saved Tom and Jillian to join us as well. Dennis Rodman, thank goodness, is getting treatment again for his alcoholism. His agent says Dennis was embarrassed, saddened, and remorseful after his trip to North Korea and this is drinking had, quote, "escalated to a level that none of us had ever seen before." But CNN`s Ashleigh Banfield wonders if it is just a cover-up for Rodman`s behavior. She asked my friend, and addiction specialist, Bob Forrest (ph), whether Dennis is using rehab as something to hide behind. Take a look.

ASHLEIGH BANFIELD, HOST, CNN`S "LEGAL VIEW": Here`s somebody behaved badly, and then immediately checked into rehab. And sometimes, it`s just for stupid things they say, so when is it that all of a sudden, you just don`t get a ticket out of this by suggesting rehab is the answer?
BOB FORREST, ADDICTION SPECIALIST: He needs to stop drinking. There`s no doubt in my mind he`s doing it for years. He can`t stop. He hasn`t had consequences enough to motivate him to stop.
BANFIELD: So, I guess I still don`t really know if I believe this is about the drinking because I`ve watched Dennis Rodman over the last 20 years and he always sounds like that. It didn`t sound like he was drunk. It just sounded like he was Dennis Rodman.

PINSKY: Tom, I`m sympathetic to what Ashleigh is saying, but I actually have brain scans that show how severely damaged Dennis` brain was from alcohol. So, there`s no doubt he`s an alcoholic, and needs treatment. But I`m sympathetic to what Ashleigh`s saying, that people in the media kind of use rehab as a generic way to get out of jail free.
GREEN: Yeah, I think this is a situation where you know, I know Dennis Rodman. I was on the "Celebrity Apprentice" with Dennis Rodman. I actually got fired by Donald Trump because I went out drinking with Dennis Rodman, on the night I was a project manager, which is a real no-no. Okay, that`s a real disrespectful thing to do to Mr. Trump.I had an important job to do the next day. I had to sell wedding dresses, I had to sell more wedding dresses than Joan Rivers than Chloe Kardashian. And here I go out drinking with Dennis Rodman.
But I will say when I saw that interview on CNN with Chris Cuomo, where Dennis was obviously drunk, as far as I could see. It did remind me a lot of the way Dennis gets. He is a good guy at heart. I do believe that what he was trying to do in North Korea was, was --

PINSKY: I do, too and he is a good guy. I agree, Tom. Jillian, ten seconds, Jillian. Your thoughts? You agree with us?
BERBERIE: I just hope he`s getting the help he needs and I think with Ashleigh and yourself, it`s like spin control. We automatically assume a celebrity`s going down that road for spin control. It`s about him, it`s about his addiction. I hope he gets the help that he needs.
