JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL, HOST: Tonight, breaking news: stunning new developments in the exploding scandal over L.A. Clippers owner Donald Sterling`s racist comments caught on tape.

Now the scandal is engulfing his wife: shocking allegations in court documents that Mrs. Sterling has also made racist comments she denies. Even though her husband was just banned from basketball, Shelly Sterling attended last night`s Clippers game. There she is, with a big smile on her face. Should she have stayed home? Tonight, some people want the whole Sterling family banned from basketball.

Good evening, I`m Jane Velez-Mitchell coming to you live. Thanks for joining me.

DONALD STERLING, OWNER, L.A. CLIPPERS: Don`t stand here with black people.

ADAM SILVER, NBA COMMISSIONER: I am banning Mr. Sterling for life from any association with the Clippers organization or the NBA.

D. STERLING: Bring him here, feed him, (EXPLETIVE DELETED) him, I don`t care.

SILVER: Deeply offensive and harmful.

D. STERLING: Don`t come to my games. Don`t bring black people, and don`t come.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: No room in this game for an owner like that.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Can we talk to you?

V. STIVIANO, GIRLFRIEND OF DONALD STERLING: People call you and tell you that I have black people on my Instagram.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Clippers owner Donald Sterling has become one of the most hated men in America, after the shocking racist audiotapes surfaced, with Sterling telling his alleged mistress he doesn`t want black people attending his games. And saying, essentially, that black people are less than white people. Listen from Deadspin.com.

D. STERLING: You go to Israel. The blacks are just treated like dogs.

STIVIANO: So do you have to treat them like that, too?

D. STERLING: The white Jews. There`s white Jews and black Jews. You understand?

D. STERLING: A hundred percent, 50, 100 percent.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: As if this story couldn`t get any more outrageous, V. Stiviano, Donald Sterling`s alleged mistress and co-star on those controversial tapes, she`s been marching into paparazzi swarms wearing this bizarre visor covering her entire face. And last night -- I hope you`re sitting down -- she also announced to the media she plans to become president of the United States.

TMZ reported to us last night that Sterling`s alleged mistress this morning recorded many, many hours of conversations between herself and Donald Sterling. And there could be many even more revolting comments beyond the hideous, racist remarks that got him banned from the NBA for life.

We have a fantastic Lion`s Den panel ready to debate. Tonight, panelists, V. Stiviano denies she leaked these explosive tapes, but she`s on those tapes arguing with Donald Sterling about his racist sentiments. Does somebody -- and I`ll start with Blog Xilla, senior entertainment editor, GlobalGrind.com -- does somebody need to tell her, "Cut out the crazy, honey. This is serious. This is not about your 15 minutes of fame"?

BLOG XILLA, SENIOR ENTERTAINMENT EDITOR, GLOBALGRIND.COM: I like her visor. I think it says swag, swag, swag. But V. -- but she`s getting hammered right now. Because we have to remember that, like, I follow her on Instagram, so all through her comments, she`s being called the "C" word, all types of horrible names. I feel bad for her. I mean, this is so horrible how they`re treating her.

Now, her stating she wants to be president, she was obviously drunk. She was hanging out with Corrupt (ph). And I`ll give her a pass for that. But I mean, you don`t shoot the messenger. That`s how I feel.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, listen, I want to go Karen Russell, attorney, daughter of NBA legend Bill Russell. This is a very serious story. What this very powerful billionaire, worth an estimated $2 billion, said was reprehensible.

Doesn`t she diminish the entire issue by walking around with this ridiculous garb and talking about how she wants to be president of the United States?

KAREN RUSSELL, ATTORNEY/DAUGHTER OF NBA LEGEND BILL RUSSELL: I don`t think people are focusing on her. I think the e-mails and texts and calls that I`ve had recently really focused on Adam Silver`s leadership. And just shutting this family down.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, look, I want to know if anybody on my panel, Rosie Noesi, do you agree with me? Is she crossing some crazy line and turning this into a farce and a joke, as opposed to the serious issue it needs to be?

ROSIE NOESI, RADIO PERSONALITY: Absolutely. She`s cuckoo. She`s walking around with a visor. She knows paparazzi is following her, she`s a fame whore. If she was involved with this man, does she even care about him? Why record this? We don`t know her intentions. That`s the thing that`s bothering all of us. And now this man`s career is ruined. His life is ruined, everything. His family...

XILLA: His life should be ruined. He`s a racist. Who cares about his life? Who cares about his life?

NOESI: I understand. I understand, who cares about his life? But what is her intention? That`s the problem.

(CROSSTALK)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Hold on one second. Hold on one second. I want to go to Victoria Rowell, "New York Times" best-selling author of "The Woman Who Raised Me," and you`re wearing a lovely hat. Unlike V. Stiviano, your hat reads class not crass.

What do you say about her -- I would call almost performance art, performance out there, when we`re talking about hideous comments that can have a profound impact on children, on fans, on so many people and she`s treating this like she`s on some kind of wacky reality show.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Exactly. That`s exactly what I feel like.

VICTORIA ROWELL, AUTHOR: I`m not distracted. Jane, you know what? I`m not distracted by the visor. Media has a Magical way of turning this story, flipping it and it becomes something else. This is about racist behavior, institutional racism that will be proven, I guess, in court, in terms of executor or executive positions that were not realized by minorities. So that`s a whole other issue, on the court and off the court. The level of racism that has been institutionalized under Sterling and his wife, I suppose.

So I`m not distracted by this woman. She was a mistress. She was a concubine. She clearly has some issues around her ethnicity, and I think she was waiting for the payday. I think maybe perhaps he dumped her, and she was waiting for that to happen.

ADAM SWICKLE, CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEY: I seriously doubt she was looking for a payday. This is all about her day in the sun. This is all about her day in the sun. She`s lost her mind. She couldn`t wait for this to happen. And now she`s sucking it up, and she`s loving every moment of it.

And for us just to disregard her because of what that individual did would be a travesty in and of itself. She needs to understand what she did and what her responsibility is in all of this, as well.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, let me say this. We have been talking about the alleged mistress. Let`s talk about Donald Sterling`s wife. Because Donald Sterling is banned, but his wife, Shelly, asked Clippers head coach Doc Rivers for permission to attend last night`s game. And then she said essentially, "Well, I wanted to let the players know I love them."

But tonight, allegations surfacing that lead us to ask, does she have her own history of racism? This just came in from CNN. Listen, then we`ll debate it.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: In 2007, the Sterlings were sued for housing discrimination, involving a Los Angeles apartment complex they owned. Tennant Darrell Rhodes stated in this 2009 deposition that when he asked Mrs. Sterling if she would reduce his rent, she replied, "Who do you think you are, you black M-F?" He also testified that she call him a "black M-F" several times during another exchange.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: All right, now, court docs show Shelly Sterling denies ever using a racial slur. But the Sterlings ended up settling that case for $2.7 million.

Right now Shelly is still free to associate with the team and the league. Some even suspect that Donald, her husband, could try to transfer ownership to her. Should they have banned the entire Sterling family? Is there a loophole here? And I`ll go to Blog Xilla.

XILLA: They should have banned the entire Sterling family. They say birds of a feather flock together. For them to fall in love, they have to have some things in common. Obviously race is one of them.

I read a report that she would pretend to be, like, the census and go into their apartment building to see how many black people were living there. They`re despicable. They`re despicable. And I don`t think they should be allowed at the game. I don`t think they should be allowed to own a team. I don`t think they should be allowed in the NBA arena ever again. The whole family.

RUSSELL: None of these players -- absolutely -- none of these players...

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Hold on a second.

RUSSELL: ... are ever going to want to...

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Go ahead.

RUSSELL: None of these players are ever going to want to work with anyone named Sterling. It could be Roger Sterling, the madman, Mrs. Sterling, Mr. Sterling. None of the Sterlings will be owners and be connected with the NBA when all is said and done.

SWICKLE: I mean -- I mean how could she...

ROWELL: I want to...

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Go ahead. Go ahead, Victoria.

ROWELL: Jane, I just want to say, you know, there have been many books written about this, but it`s a form of slavery. You know, you have black athletes who are making billions of dollars through advertising, et cetera, ticket sales, but they`re not embraced essentially in private quarters by the Sterlings.

I think it is absolutely a form of contemporary racism, and we need to look at that and the type of slavery that we simply don`t want to discuss. We need to have a discussion, as Whoopi would say. It was an amazing book, if someone can remember "12 Years a Slave." It was an amazing book.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Let me just jump in, to Doctor -- let me go to Dr. Judy Ho, forensic psychologist, because we do need a psychologist. Now, Shelly Sterling denies ever using a racial slur, but then you hear people on our panel say, well, you know what? They`re married. Water finds its own level. Does water find its own level? If the husband`s racist, is there a good chance that the wife is racist, too?

DR. JUDY HO, FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGIST: Very such so, Jane, because if she wouldn`t tolerate these types of attitudes, she couldn`t be married to a man with these types of attitudes. And his attitudes are absolutely ingrained.

And whether or not he`s having private conversations where he`s expressing these attitudes, they`re happening. I believe that she is just as culpable as he is, but she is trying to separate herself, because she doesn`t want any of this mess. And guess what? She`s got the mess. She`s married to him.

And in terms of them trying to force him to sell the team, what kind of punishment is that? He`s just going to stand to gain possibly about $500 million and it`s not going to change...

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Or more. Or more.

HO: Exactly. Or more. And it`s not going to change either of their attitudes, Jane, just having this public humiliation. They`re going to still think what they`ve always thought and believe in the belief what they`ve always believed in.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: On the other side, late-breaking speculation that maybe Oprah will buy the team.

Talk about drama, a stunning surprise, as well. Later in our show, Tori Spelling and her husband Dean McDermott, you won`t believe what they`re up to. It is another explosive drama of a completely different kind.

STIVIANO: I`m sorry. Is there anything that I can do to make you feel better?

D. STERLING: No, you can never make me feel better, because the fighter in you wants to fight.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Such horrifying comments. Let`s go out to the phone lines. They`re lighting up. Loz, New York, you are so patient. Loz, New York, what do you have to say?

CALLER: Jane, how you doing? I got to say, I watch the show. I love your show.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Thank you.

CALLER: And -- and with this Sterling character, you know what? His mistress should wear the mask, because now she`s embarrassed that he was exposed and she knew that he was a racist the whole time she was with him. The comments that came out of his mouth displays (ph) him a despicable person. And his wife, too.

And I have to agree with you when you said this is a serious matter. They`re laughing as if this is a joke. People are dying over this racial thing that we have going on here. And his wife is laughing like it`s a funny thing. But I`m pretty sure that soon enough she won`t be laughing. She won`t be.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: I think you raised my point. The point was when I saw her with that goofy -- the alleged mistress with that goofy mask on, I was like, "Hey, this isn`t about your 15 minutes. This isn`t a farce. It`s not a joke. It`s not an off-off-off-Broadway play. This is a serious issue.

And to that point, I`m going to play you right now another very disturbing exchange between V. and Donald Sterling from Deadspin.com. We`ll debate it on the other side.

STIVIANO: Honey, if it make you happy, I will remove all of the black people from my Instagram.

D. STERLING: You said that before. You said, "I understand."

STIVIANO: I did remove the people that were independently on my Instagram that are black.

D. STERLING: Then why did you start saying that you didn`t? You just said that you didn`t remove them, you don`t remove every...

STIVIANO: I don`t remove Matt Kemp and Magic Johnson. But I thought Matt Kemp is mixed and he was OK, just like me.

D. STERLING: OK.

STIVIANO: He`s lighter and whiter than me.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: "He`s lighter and whiter than me." Unbelievable. Donald Sterling seems to agree that it`s OK for her to keep a photo of Major League baseball player Matt Kemp up, because he`s mixed race and has lighter skin. When asked about the tape, Kemp told the media, quote, "Racism is kind of old." I certainly hope he`s right.

But I want to go to Karen Russell, a daughter of NBA legend Bill Russell, on this issue. And it`s almost like we`re exposing the secrets of racist attitudes. Do racists grade people based on the shade of their skin, literally?

RUSSELL: Will, they certainly do. I think the teachable moment here might be don`t hire someone that you wouldn`t be willing to have Thanksgiving dinner with and socialize with, because that`s just not appropriate.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, listen, I have said it before, and I`ll throw it out again. My attitude, as a Puerto Rican woman -- I`m Puerto Rican and Irish, and I`ve experienced bigotry directed at me in my life. And you know what? I use the 12-step principles. I actually feel sorry for the pathetic people who have what I would consider a form of mental illness, which is racism.

It`s about low self-esteem. It`s about I don`t feel good enough as a person, so I have to elevate myself above other people based on irrational criteria, so I can feel good about myself. Because if I can`t be part of a totem pole and feel I`m at the top of it, I can`t feel good about my life. And to me, Dr. Judy Ho, I feel that empowers me. It disempowers them. And it really shows, I think, racism for the -- the pathetic thing that it is, from a psychological perspective.

HO: That`s right, Jane, and actually, you`re taking a very compassionate type of attitude towards these people, who really do have a brand of mental illness. It is because they don`t feel satisfied with themselves and insecure, that they have to do this.

And in fact, there`s actually some history that Sterling is jealous of some of these people that his concubine, his mistress, is associating with. They`re younger. They`re more athletic, and he`s threatened. And that`s why this has become such a big issue in their private conversation.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: But, you know, Blog Xilla, people have gotten mad at me...

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: And Jane...

VELEZ-MITCHELL: ... for suggesting that this is a form of mental illness, saying, well, you can`t do anything about mental illness; you`re born with it. But I don`t agree with that. I mean, as a recovering alcoholic, you know, I cannot drink. Alcoholism is a disease. There are many illnesses that one can work on and work through.

And so I think to categorize it that way, in my opinion, it robs it of any toxic power it might have. What say you, Blog Xilla?

XILLA: I think it`s definitely mental illness, especially if he can sleep with a black woman but he doesn`t want her posting pictures on Instagram or bringing them to the games. It`s ridiculous. So some blacks are better than other blacks based on the shade of their skin? It`s absolutely insanity.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: It really is, and I think that we have to move to the next level, this story, this hideous story, is an opportunity to move to the next level as a hopefully post-racial society where, instead of reacting the same old reactive way, we take a new attitude and say these people are sick. They need help. And in that manner, basically take the air out of that balloon.

On the other side, who is going to buy this team, if the owners, 2/3 of them, the other NBA owners, force him -- three-quarters, three-quarters, 23 out of 30, have to vote to force Donald Sterling to sell this team. Who will buy the team? There are some extraordinary names just coming in right now. We just heard another one who`s thrown his hat in the ring. Stay right there.

STIVIANO: It`s like saying, like, let`s just persecute and kill all of the Jews.

D. STERLING: Oh, it`s the same thing, right?

STIVIANO: Well, isn`t it wrong? Wasn`t it wrong then with the Holocaust? And you`re Jewish. You understand discrimination.

D. STERLING: You`re a mental case. You`re really a mental case. The Holocaust, we`re comparing with...

STIVIANO: Racism. Discrimination.

D. STERLING: There`s no racism here.

D. STERLING: I don`t want to change it. If my girl can`t do what I want, I don`t want the girl. I`ll find a girl that will do what I want. Believe me, I thought you were that girl, because I try to do what you want. But you`re not that girl.

STIVIANO: There`s no need to get upset. No need to get...

D. STERLING: I just see what I`m living with, what I`m dealing with.

STIVIANO: I`m sorry, I didn`t do anything.

D. STERLING: You never do anything, and never do anything wrong.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: The NBA made it clear they want nothing else to do with Donald Sterling. They want him to sell the Clippers, after these hideously racist talks with his girlfriend released.

But now he, who`s already worth about $2 billion, could make another fortune. Sterling bought the Clippers in 1981 for a measly 12 and a half million dollars. Now the Clippers are worth between $572 to $700 million dollars. But who will be the buyer?

Here are some names floating tonight. Oprah Winfrey, a huge name. Also Magic Johnson. Floyd Mayweather. We`ve also just heard Oscar de la Jolla throw his hat into the ring.

So let`s listen right now to what Oprah had to say about Donald Sterling`s racist remarks. She always has a way with words. Let`s listen to Oprah.

OPRAH WINFREY, OWNER, OXYGEN NETWORK: It feels like a plantation mentality in the 21st century, in 2014. It just doesn`t fit.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Who, Lion`s Den, is the best person to buy this team? I`m putting my money with Oprah Winfrey. Let`s start with Rosie Noesi.

NOESI: OK. I think it should be Magic Johnson. It all started when she posted that picture on Instagram with Magic Johnson. The ultimate revenge, Magic buy the team. Because guess what? You are a successful African- American man. Oh, that will feel so good for the whole entire country. You should go for it, Magic.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: All right. Blog Xilla, what do you say?

XILLA: I think Magic Johnson is way too safe. I`ve got my money on Floyd "Money" Mayweather. He`s proven himself an ability to make money. His pay-per-views always sell out. If the money team was a part of the Clippers, and the Clippers were part of the money team, that would be awesome for basketball, awesome for life. And he`s not as safe. He`s like a black Mark Cuban.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: All right. Well, Victoria Rowell, I think also, you know, you listen to this man on the tape. He doesn`t have a lot of respect for women. He`s calling his adult conversation partner a girl, repeatedly. I think Oprah Winfrey would be a double slam dunk for the buyer of this team.

ROWELL: I`m not going to disagree with you, Jane, but I will say that I want to throw Sheila Johnson`s name into the ring. She`s a billionaire. A brilliant woman who helped found BET with her ex-husband. I think Magic would be brilliant and, as his wing man, I would like to see his mother, Ma Johnson, big kiss. She checks and balances everything. So I can say that.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Karen Russell, you are basketball royalty, the daughter of NBA legend Bill Russell. What do you say?

RUSSELL: Well, I think on the Oprah thing, I do know that Steadman is a basketball enthusiast. But what we`re missing here is you actually have to have owners who know a little bit about basketball. You can see the Space Needle over my shoulder. I was the first ball girl in the NBA for the Seattle Supersonics, so I`m hoping some Internet billionaire in Washington state brings the Seattle Supersonics back to Seattle. And it also works with the global -- the global playoffs with the NBA.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: I heard the mention. I`m not going to name his name, but he was one of the co-founders of one of the biggest tech companies in history.

Let me ask you, Dr. Judy Ho, do you think, if we get one of these people that`s been mentioned, will that be healing? Can we move past this? Because I feel like insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. We have to really shut this down in a way that makes everybody who was maligned by this man feel like a winner.

HO: That`s right, and I think that it would be important for a prominent and empowered black American to own the Clippers next.

I think that Oprah would be a good choice, because she`s also a woman, and it addresses some of the issues that have come up in these private tapes between Sterling and his girlfriend.

But either way, I think it`s important for a black American to set a great example, own the Clippers and really show people what racial equity and not having this racist heart would be about.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Adam Swickle, we`re going to give a guy the last word on this one.

SWICKLE: Jane, with all due respect, I don`t think the decision should be based on race or religion. I actually like Oscar de la Jolla as a suggestion, because he`s a manager. He knows what he`s doing. He needs to be able to manage.

But if it wasn`t an individual, maybe a collective group of people who know basketball, know how to manage a business, should be dealing with this issue. But I don`t...

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Like, yes, Creative Artists agency. You know, when there were problems in Hollywood, in old Hollywood, a lot of the big movie stars got together and formed almost like a cooperative and created something beautiful. And maybe that`s what we need.

I think we have to elevate the conversation. As righteous as the chest beating is, we need to move into the 21st century with this issue and really deflate it and show it for the pathetic thing that it is, so we can all move on.

How did a beautiful baby, a beautiful baby boy with loving adoptive parents end up dead? Did the infant`s teenage father murder him? This is an outrageous story that will have your blood boiling on the other side.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Tonight, escalating outrage as a beautiful baby boy ripped away from his loving adoptive parents, both moms, only to be murdered weeks later allegedly by his 17-year-old biological father. A loving couple and a 16-year-old girl are all grieving tonight as their hearts break for four- month-old Baby Gabriel.

How did Baby Gabriel who was this close to having a nurturing stable family end up murdered? What pushed his young father over the edge, according to cops? Heidi and Rachel McFarland, married, coached the 16-year-old mom through labor, even cut the baby`s umbilical cord and took him home from the hospital. Remember the mom is 16.

But reports claim their adoption attorney failed to file the paper work terminating that biological mom`s rights. After three months of caring for Gabriel and bonding with him, the McFarlands were suddenly forced to hand him back to his teenage mother and say goodbye.

Police say the boy murdered Gabriel and then took off. The baby suffered head trauma. Mom and a friend rushed to the house to find the baby lifeless.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Straight out to the "Lion`s Den", we begin with Victoria Rowell, "New York Times" bestselling author of "The Woman Who Raised Me" you are famous for appearing for 17 years on the very famous soap, "The Young and the Restless" but you are also known for growing up in the foster care system. There you are on "The Young and the Restless" what do you make of this hideous story where these parents, these two mothers, bond with this child the baby is ripped away from them and then is murdered?

VICTORIA ROWELL, AUTHOR: Jane, you know, I grew up in a circumstance where I was with a potential adoptive family who was white and then removed from that family and placed with a black family. I was fortunate to have good foster parents. But I see a circumstance of children raising children. We don`t know what cyclical history is in all of this, were these children from abusive backgrounds? Who`s checking? Where is the Department of Children and Family Services in this? Where was the attorney in all? Where is the social worker in all this?

It is absurd to give this level of responsibility to minors. It makes absolutely no sense.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: You are absolutely right. 16-year-old mom, 17-year-old dad.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Unfortunately --

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Hold on one second, I want to give some more back story to our viewers at home. The biological mother claims she had to run errands at the library and other places. She left the child with the 17-year-old dad who apparently has never taken care of the baby alone.

Listen to the frantic 911 call. You`ll hear what appears to be Baby Gabriel`s biological mom hysterically sobbing while her friend attempts CPR.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: The autopsy shows Baby Gabriel died from abusive head trauma. Straight out to Mardie Caldwell, a certified open adoption practitioner -- you are an expert in adoption. Is there something that these two moms who had paid for the medical bills and cut the umbilical cord could have done to protect themselves legally so that this young woman couldn`t turn around as she did and said give me my baby back?

MARDIE CALDWELL, CERTIFIED OPEN ADOPTION PRACTITIONER: You know, Jane, there are things that adoptive parents can do. And one of them is they have to make sure their home study is A, is ready to go and we don`t know whether or not their home study was viable and ready to go; again, a professional adoption attorney facilitator or agency that can help with this because this is nonsense. They should have had this in place and the attorney should have been in contact with them continually to make sure that paper work was filed on time.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Let me say this. Let me say this. They said they were scrutinized six ways to Sunday, these two mothers who were in a loving relationship and are actually married.

I`m talking about should they have signed the adoption papers while this young lady was still pregnant as opposed to waiting until after she gave birth?

(CROSSTALK)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: What?

CALDWELL: You can`t do that. I`m not an attorney, but you can`t do that. I mean this woman -- the Iowa laws are really great, 72 hours she could have signed and then shortly after that, she can`t rescind on it. She had plenty of time to do that, but if the papers aren`t filed, then it leaves it wide open for an adoption disruption and that`s what happened here.

So again, not putting blame on that but someone`s got to be watching that and nurturing that, so where is the adoption professional along the way. That`s what I think. You can be the greatest couple but, you know, we`re all vulnerable. I`m an adoptive mom myself and you`re vulnerable to the adoption professional and putting their care into it. I had seven attorneys in my adoption and I trust them completely. That`s one of the reasons I got into doing adoption work.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: What you`re saying is you can`t give somebody a contract when they`re pregnant and say sign here, when the child`s born, this child is mine. You can`t do that.

CALDWELL: You know what -- yes, you can`t do it. It`s illegal but also it`s unethical because the bonding has to go on too. Someone has to say hello before they say goodbye to their child. And it sounds like there was some confusion there. Also that the birth mom started losing some trust in the adoptive family and that`s when you have to have that relationship where they continue to trust each other and they feel like they can honor that ongoing relationship.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, I think there was a lack of trust on both sides after the birth. And I think emotions change, as they will after the birth. But it`s a tragedy. Had the child not been taken from these two women who wanted to adopt, who were days away from adopting, this child would likely be alive today. Let me say it, the child would be alive today.

A mess and a tragedy. My heart goes out to Baby Gabriel.

Tori and husband Dean McDermott tackled their first couples` therapy session since his affair. And Dean tells the world that after Tori found out he cheated, he had a nervous breakdown and contemplated suicide.

MCDERMOTT: So --

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: And you didn`t do it.

MCDERMOTT: I didn`t do it. But I mentioned that to show how far I had gone down the rabbit hole and that the only way out was for me to leave this earth.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: And it`s not just Dean in crisis, now Tori`s reportedly going through her own crisis.

Straight out to Alexis Tereszcuk, senior entertainment editor RadarOnline - - what is the latest with these two?

ALEXIS TERESZCUK, SENIOR ENTERTAINMENT EDITOR RADARONLINE: Oh, my gosh, I feel like Dean is the most selfish person on television, which is really hard to be. He is basically saying that he didn`t care about his five children, four with Tori and the one with his first wife that he cheated on with Tori and he was just going to jump out of the window and commit suicide. It`s an absolutely ridiculous plot line in this so-called reality show that these two have concocted. It just seems like another tale from Tori and Dean that they would all of a sudden allow his, you know, wanting to commit suicide to be on their reality show when all they have been doing is really trying to pull the wool over everyone`s eyes, I think.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well let`s get to that in a second. But what makes this even more shocking is that Lifetime allegedly did not know that Dean was thinking about killing himself until they were actually taping, videotaping that therapy session.

SPELLING: Are you ok talking about that on camera? I didn`t tell them any of that. That`s not --

MCDERMOTT: I don`t know --

SPELLING: That wasn`t part of this. I don`t want you-

MCDERMOTT: I know, babe, but you know what? It`s where I was. I`m being honest.

SPELLING: Even now, I`m like, is he thinking clearly that he`s now admitting this and he wants this aired? I don`t even know if I`m ok with that.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Dr. Judy Ho, boy, do we need a psychologist. Tori says she was planning on keeping this whole issue of the contemplation of suicide by her husband a secret, but after the bombshell was dropped, Lifetime actually stopped production to get a psychologist to evaluate him to make sure he was stable enough to continue. Should they be talking about this on television?

JUDY HO, PSYCHOLOGIST: Well, this is exactly why I feel like they should have never filmed something so private in the first place. And Tori has a long history of denying any type of mental illness. She`s had a lot of people ask her, does she have an eating disorder. She`s always said no, but then admitted to starving herself to lose her baby weight. This is not her first hospitalization, she had one back in November 2013, same mysterious reasons that nobody really knows about.

So it doesn`t surprise me that she would tell her husband to keep his possible mental illness on the low. But this is a terrible message to send to him and if he is really this sick, like you said, Jane, they should have absolutely stopped the show right there, gotten him an intensive psychological evaluation to make sure that he`s not actually suicidal. But we can`t let go of the fact there`s a possibility --

VELEZ-MITCHELL: They did that.

HO: -- that he may be saying some of this for attention. That he may be saying some of this for attention as well because he`s not taking responsibility for his behavior.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Rosie Noesi, radio personality, I think just participating in a show like this would be enough to make suicidal because I don`t think that living your life in front of cameras 24/7 and revealing intimate details of your personal life and your sex life is healthy.

ROSIE NOESI, RADIO PERSONALITY: Agreed. And not only that, now you look at it, why did she get kind of upset when he revealed that? I feel like she`s wanting the cameras to document this process so in the future she can actually tell her kids, hey, you want to know why mommy and daddy are not together? Let me show you why.

But now that Dean has revealed this, we kind of sympathize with him. He has a mental disorder and it makes us look at this situation a little different. She does -- we don`t feel that bad for her now. We do feel bad because he`s selfish but we see there`s something kind of wrong with him now.

NOESI: So her plan went awry.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Is this crying you`re looking at fake? Is the whole thing fake? Are they lying about everything? On the other side.

TERESZCUK: I think You deserve an Emmy for that. That was awesome. I just think that Tori is full of it. I think that Dean is, too. How about when she says, "Oh my gosh, I didn`t think we were going to talk about that." Are you admitting that you weren`t going to talk about reality on your reality show?

HO: Oh. You`re much better than Tori.

NOESI: Jane, don`t cry.

HO: Don`t cry for Tori.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Dr. Judy, is it made up? Is that really sick? God.

HO: Oh, oh my goodness, Jane. I know. you are breaking my heart with your crying. And you`re very, very good at it. And so is Tori. And she probably misses the days where she is an actress.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Yes. It`s fun to be -- I mean this is kind of fun. I`m having a good time.
