Whitney Houston`s Daughter in Coma

Aired February 02, 2015 - 20:00   ET

THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

NANCY GRACE, HOST: Breaking news tonight. We go live. America`s songbird, superstar Whitney Houston`s, look-alike daughter in a coma, found

unconscious, face down in her bathtub, doctors telling family to prepare for the worst, Whitney Houston`s family telling us tonight they are holding

out for a miracle, while doctors say the situation is, quote, "bleak."

This is what we know at this hour. Just 11 days to the three-year mark of her mom, Whitney Houston, also found submerged in the bathtub,

history repeats itself.

Bombshell tonight. As rumors swirl, family members with us live. What happened to Whitney Houston`s little girl, Bobbi Kristina?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Twenty-one-year-old female in the bathtub face down.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: She was unresponsive, meaning not breathing, no heartbeat.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It was eerily familiar.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Female (INAUDIBLE) found in the bathroom. She was not breathing?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Whitney Houston`s death where she was found in a bathtub.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: And live, North Carolina, suburbs. A woman goes wild and catches a felony case of road rage. Crystal Lee Phillips (ph) goes

berserk, allegedly trying to slam her silver Chevy Trailblazer into Sherry Hastings (ph) and her little granddaughter driving along in their silver

Buick. As terrified little Destiny (ph) screams, crying in the back seat, Phillips races to the victim`s car. After punching the mom through the

open window on the driver`s side, Phillips tops it off by standing in the rain in the two-lane in front of the victim`s car, giving the little girl

the double bird and a mouth full of obscenities. But guess what, crazy lady? You`re caught on tape!

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Anybody finds -- (EXPLETIVE DELETED) you see that?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Stop it! Stop it!

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: She just lost it. She just came over, banged on my window, pulled my strap on my seatbelt.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: And tonight, cult leader Charles Manson hits the headlines again over three decades after a murder spree that shocked the nation,

including the murder of actress Sharon Tate. Tonight the Tate family furious mass murderer Charles Manson wed behind bars to a 26-year-old

woman, a Manson groupie look-alike. Jail policy? He gets to kiss the bride. Tonight, we learn serial killer Charles Manson wants a baby?

Good evening. I`m Nancy Grace. I want to thank you for being with us.

Bombshell tonight. America`s songbird, superstar Whitney Houston`s, daughter in a coma, unconscious, found face down in her bathtub, doctors

telling family to prepare for the worst.

Whitney Houston`s family tells us tonight they`re holding out for a miracle, while doctors say the situation is, quote, "bleak." This is what

we know. It`s just 11 days to the three-year mark of her mother, Whitney Houston, being found submerged in a bathtub, history repeating itself. As

rumors swirling, family members with us live. What happened to Whitney Houston`s little girl, Bobbi Kristina?

Straight out to Victor Blackwell, CNN correspondent joining us at the scene. Victor, what do you know?

VICTOR BLACKWELL, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Nancy, we just got our hands on the report that gave us more -- is giving us more details about what

happened Saturday morning outside of Atlanta, in the community of Roswell. Nick Gordon, who is the husband -- so-called husband -- of Kristina --

Bobbi Kristina Brown found her 10:30 Saturday morning -- there was another man there, as well -- face down in this tub.

Now, we do not know how long she`d been there and why she was in that tub, but investigators say they found no evidence of drugs or alcohol

there. They`re calling it a medical incident. They tried CPR there. It was not successful. She was then transported to North Fulton Hospital.

That`s where I am right now.

We`ve also learned sources close to the family have told CNN`s contributor Nichelle Turner that producer, writer, director Tyler Perry

allowed Bobby Brown to fly back from LA to Atlanta to be with his daughter -- of course, Bobby Brown the former husband of Whitney Houston and father

of Bobbi Kristina Brown. And the family has told us here at the hospital, again, they`ve been told to expect the worst but prepare for, hope for

better days ahead for this young woman.

GRACE: With me, CNN correspondent Victor Blackwell on the scene.

Everyone, we have just obtained the police report, and it says that police were called to the scene for a drowning, reference to a drowning.

Apparently, Whitney Houston`s daughter, Bobbi Kristina, found face down in a tub, quote, "filled with water." That`s what we know right now.

Who was in the home? What happened? Police telling us right now no signs of any drugs in the home that they have found. There is a search

warrant, that they are searching the home, as well.

Let me go straight out to Clark Goldband. Clark, what more do we know?

CLARK GOLDBAND, NANCY GRACE PRODUCER (via telephone): Well, Nancy, the timeline is also not totally clear. But I can tell you that Bobbi

Kristina`s husband was the one to find her, Nancy, and he was there with a friend. Now, it`s not clear if he was outside of the home or in the home.

But this much is clear, law enforcement says that her husband immediately started CPR and continued CPR until authorities got to the home.

Authorities...

GRACE: Right. I`m trying to find out, were they in the home or outside the home? With me, writer with "People" magazine Steve Helling.

Steve, I`ve got the names here. It`s Bobbi Brown`s husband, Bobbi Kristina`s husband, Nick Gordon, and also his friend, Maxwell Byron Lomas

(ph). They`re the ones that were there in the home, or at the home when police were called.

Now, what do we know? Were they in the home? Did they notice she wasn`t there? Were they outside the home? If they were outside the home,

why were they outside the home? What do we know, Steve?

STEVE HELLING, "PEOPLE" MAGAZINE: Well, unfortunately, Nancy, there`s not a lot that we do know. But what I can say is that they definitely, you

know, had to come in the home to find Bobbi Kristina in the bathtub. So you know, whether or not they were outside, inside, actually isn`t as

important as what were they doing at the time this happened. And nobody knows...

GRACE: We know that CPR was given immediately. Police took over when they dropped off. Everyone, you`re seeing shots of the home where Bobbi

Kristina was found face down in the bathtub of water, this just 11 days before the three-year mark, when her mom was found in a tub of hot water.

Whitney Houston passed away as a result of that incident.

To Dr. Dave Montgomery, critical care cardiologist. Dr. Montgomery, thank you for being with us. It`s my understanding that right now, she`s

still on a ventilator. Reports are that there is significant diminished brain function. What does that mean?

DR. DAVE MONTGOMERY, CRITICAL CARE CARDIOLOGIST: Well, it`s going to be difficult to tell right now. She`s been placed under what`s called

therapeutic hypothermia. And in common parlance, that is a medically induced coma. And we do that to give the patient in this case, Bobbi

Kristina, the best chance of a full neurologic recovery.

We won`t know, though, Nancy, until she`s actually rewarmed is the word that we use -- we take her from a very cool temperature, body

temperature, to a normal body temperature, to see what kind of neurologic reserve she has, what kind of remaining neurologic function she`s going to

have. We won`t know until then.

The most important question, though, Nancy, is how long was she down before Nick Gordon got there? Because what we know is that the amount of

time that the brain is without oxygen is a very key predictor of how much meaningful recovery she can have.

GRACE: Everyone, with me is Dr. Dave Montgomery. You know, Dr. Montgomery, you`re telling me that she is in a medically induced coma.

What is the point of that? Does that give the brain a chance to heal? I understand that there`s swelling to the brain? Why would that be?

MONTGOMERY: Yes, I mean, if you can imagine, all the cells of the body kind of -- you know, they have sort of housekeeping duties. We use

the word in common parlance of metabolism. That means just all of the functions that the body does to keep things working.

If we have a cooling of the body, those body functions actually are powered down, and therefore, you need less oxygen, you need less blood

flowing. And if you need less blood flowing, then you don`t need as much oxygen. So the reason why we do it is because cooling down the body and

decreasing the so-called metabolism of all of the cells makes it so that the lack of oxygen, right -- her heart wasn`t moving, her heart wasn`t

beating, she wasn`t breathing -- makes it so that that lack of oxygen is less taxing on the heart. Remember...

GRACE: Why is her brain swollen? That`s what I don`t understand. Why -- if she were drowning -- and I`m going on what this police report

says. They were called in reference to a drowning to Bobbi Kristina`s home. This is the home that she shared with Whitney Houston, her mother.

If she is drowning in the bathtub, why does the brain swell? That`s what I want to know.

MONTGOMERY: Well, there may be a swelling of the brain if she truly was drowning. We really don`t have that information, and I don`t think we

will for some time. But the brain will slow down its function if there`s no oxygen getting there. If there`s no blood moving because the heart

stopped pumping, there`s no oxygen getting there. So the overall brain function will go down because of the lack of oxygen.

That`s different, though, Nancy, than the brain function going down because we`re cooling her, essentially, a word that we use, this medically

induced coma to prevent further damage to the brain.

GRACE: Everybody, you`re seeing Whitney Houston`s "I Want to Dance With Somebody" from Arista Records.

At this hour, everyone, we are live there at the North Fulton Hospital trying to find out the latest regarding her only child, Bobbi Kristina.

There`s a bedside vigil going on right now.

Joining me now is a very special guest. This is Bobbi Kristina`s cousin. Jerod Brown is with us, the family tonight holding out for a

miracle, asking for your prayers. Their dream, their hope, their prayer tonight is that Bobbi Kristina pulls through this and lives.

Mr. Brown, thank you for being with us.

JEROD BROWN, BOBBI KRISTINA`S COUSIN: How`re you doing, Nancy?

GRACE: I`m good. I want to thank you for contacting me. And all of us have been joining you and your family in prayers for Bobbi Kristina,

nearly three years to the day when Whitney, her mother, was found in eerily similar circumstances.

Jerod, what is your message tonight?

BROWN: Well, Nancy, my message is simply one thing and one thing only. And before I get to that message, Nancy, I would like to say to the

world, you know, we`re not talking about just the daughter of two iconic individuals who have been an influence on all of our lives around the

world.

Whitney -- Auntie Whitney was in people`s, you know, households, along with Uncle Bobby, and they gave us the best of them. They gave you guys

the best years they had. They gave you guys the privilege of following their lives and their careers, and also their children.

And right now, we just want to say -- listen, man, you know the saying, Send flowers while you can still smell them? This is what we`re

trying to do for our loved one, for Bobbi Kristina. And that is anybody who is connected with social media, anybody who has any type of religion or

beliefs in a higher power, I ask you guys to pray for BK, to go on your Twitters, go on your Instagram and just #prayforbk, and...

GRACE: Well, I can tell you this, Jerod Brown, you`re in the right place because we do believe in a higher power here.

Everyone, you`re seeing Houston "I Will Always Love You," Arista Records.

Jerod Brown is with us tonight asking for your prayers for Bobbi Kristina.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Bobbi Kristina Brown found unresponsive face down in a bathtub.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Bobbi Kristina Brown is in the intensive care unit at this hospital.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: We`re coming up to that three-year anniversary of Whitney Houston`s death, where she was found in a bathtub, face down in

a bathtub full of water, a story sadly similar to her late mother.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: According to police, she was not breathing. Her heart was not beating. CPR was attempted there at the scene.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: Tonight, an anxious bedside vigil, Bobbi Kristina`s family, Whitney Houston`s only child tonight in a medically induced coma nearly

three years to the day her mother died, perished under eerily similar circumstances.

We are live at North Fulton Hospital. With me, CNN correspondent Victor Blackwell. Also with me, Bobbi Kristina`s cousin, Jerod Brown.

First out to the hospital. Victor Blackwell, for those just joining us, Victor, bring us up to date.

BLACKWELL: Well, the Brown and Houston families are here at North Fulton Hospital with Bobbi Kristina Brown. She`s in intensive care there,

breathing with the use of a ventilator.

It was Saturday morning when she was found face down in a bathtub full of water. Her heart was not beating. She was not breathing, according to

officials. Her husband and a friend found her in that water.

The questions, though, are, how long had she been in that water? And were they there overnight or throughout the morning, her husband and this

friend I`m speaking of, while she was in the bathtub, or did they come home and find her? Investigators say they`re doing interviews not only here at

the hospital, but they conducted interviews at the home. And we will, hopefully, find the results of those conversations, Nancy.

GRACE: To Dr. Dave Montgomery. Dr. Montgomery, if they took Bobbi Kristina off the ventilator, would she breathe on her own?

MONTGOMERY: No, no, not at this time. Breathing with a ventilator is absolutely imperative during this medically induced coma, or what

physicians call therapeutic hypothermia. Really important because remember, all of the functions of the body, including that impetus to

breathe is actually -- it`s powered down by this process because the body`s trying...

GRACE: Right.

MONTGOMERY: What we`re trying to do is preserve the function. So she needs that ventilator.

GRACE: Speaking out tonight is her cousin. Jerod Brown is with us. Jerod, this is at a point in her life where she, Bobbi Kristina, has been

battling her own demons. She took it very badly when her mother died.

Everybody, you`re seeing video from YouTube -- very badly, and she has been trying to struggle out of that. Her own -- there you see Whitney with

little Bobbi Kristina, just really the light of her life, her only child. And her mother is not here, cannot be here to take care of her, her family

rallying around her. Her father is at her side. Family is there at the hospital on a bedside vigil, prayers going around the clock.

Jerod, she was finally breaking through. Her own album was about to drop. Other leaders in the music industry have been trying to help her, to

pull her through this dark tunnel she`s been in ever since her mother passed.

BROWN: Right. For the past six months, me and Kristina have been building on a great project we was embarking on with the helps (ph) of

Missy Elliott (ph), Timberlin (ph) and also Neil (ph), which she was reaching out a couple days ago.

The picture that you guys are seeing with -- you know, cover to her upcoming single that we was going to release shortly. The world was going

to get a piece of what she was actually putting in work for and what she was, you know, getting her life together for. And she had -- she had, you

know, strong supporters around her to do so.

GRACE: And you know, Jerod Brown, speaking tonight, we`ve all seen Bobbi Kristina grow up. We`ve seen when she was a little baby, and Whitney

Houston would come out with her, holding her in her arms. We`ve seen her on stage with Whitney. We`ve seen her as she grew up. We knew that she`s

been living in the house she shared with her mother. We all were happy when she married her long-time friend, Nick Gordon, who she grew up with.

And now this.

Everyone, that`s Whitney Houston`s "I Have Nothing" from Arista Records.

Jerod, what are you hearing from the family tonight? Praying for a miracle, right?

BROWN: Right now, the family is asking everybody just please, man -- I don`t know who -- Nancy, I don`t know if you got kids. I remember we was

talking a few minutes ago. If this was your child or your children fighting for their life, what would you do, you know what I`m saying? What

would I do? I would stand (ph) for mines (ph), and I hope that the world would see that this is just a little girl. And if you guys could just, you

know, join us, man, and just continue to pray for BK, that`s all we ask.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The only daughter of deceased pop star Whitney Houston and singer Bobby Brown.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Whitney Houston`s daughter, Bobbi Kristina, clinging to life.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: She is breathing with the use of a ventilator.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Since her mother`s death, there has been concern about the 21-year-old`s wellbeing.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: It`s so sad, I mean, really is the best way to describe it.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: For those of you just joining us, the only child of superstar songbird Whitney Houston is in a medically induced coma at this hour. We

saw Bobbi Kristina grow up. There she is with her mother and father, Bobby Brown, Whitney Houston. She grows up. For the past three years, has been

fighting her way out of a dark, dark place, fighting back from the death of her mother, Whitney Houston.

We learn, based on this police report, police are called to the home she shared with her mother before her mom`s death for an apparent drowning,

Bobbi Kristina found face down in a tub of water. Her husband and his friend call police. More details, we don`t know yet.

But to Jerod Brown, Bobbi Kristina`s cousin joining us tonight, what do we know about her condition?

BROWN: Say that again, Nancy?

GRACE: What do we know about her condition, Jerod?

BROWN: Her condition is that she`s alive. And as long as she`s alive, we`re going to continue to pray. That`s all we have right now.

That`s the only condition that she`s in right now, is that she`s alive and she`s fighting.

And I ask everybody around the world, please, if you have a heart, man, if you have any type of feeling -- this is a child. Let`s take the

celebrity-ness out of the way, out of the picture. We`re talking about a child, a human being...

GRACE: You know what you said to me earlier, Jerod, just keeps echoing in my mind. You said that she`s being treated now like she`s an

alien from outer space, like she`s from a freak show. This is really a little girl. You know, she grew up with Whitney and Bobby Brown. Yes, she

was in the public eye. They tried to shield her from that. And now at a very tender age, suffers the death of her mother. And just three years,

not even three years shy of that, she is found in eerily similar circumstances.

You`re telling me that she was this close to dropping -- dropping her first album, is that correct?

BROWN: Oh, yes, and the public was very aware of it. Some people didn`t know what -- how serious she was, but like I said, she definitely

was excited about it. A couple of producers that I -- that we had on board was very excited about it. As you can see on Instagram, she let it be known

publicly on Instagram that she was excited about doing this. And, you know, the fans were backing her up, and they were ready for it. So right

now --

GRACE: Right now, Jerod, from Lifetime`s "The Houstons on Their Own." Says Bobbi Kristina`s reality show, showing her trying to make a comeback

after the tragic death of her mother Whitney. And that whole Lifetime thing was a sore spot apparently, Victor Blackwell, because the family did

not want that movie made about Whitney Houston. They wanted input in it, a lot of them were very disappointed. And that has just gone down, correct,

Victor?

BLACKWELL: Yes, they were hoping for a feature film release in theaters. They did not release the tracks, those famous tracks you`ve been

playing throughout the show. And another singer, Debra Cox had to sing those songs instead. She had a back and forth with the actress and

director of this fill, Angela Bassett. Bobbi Kristina wanted to play her mother in this film if it was going to be made. But Angela Bassett said

she`d rather have a trained actress to do that.

Nancy, you brought up the Lifetime series "The Houstons on our Own." I went back and watched several episodes of that, and in one of those

episodes, Bobbi Kristina Brown mentioned she had a similar medical emergency like the one she has experienced on Saturday several years ago in

the months after her mother`s death. She said her husband found her. She was not breathing. Her heart was not beating. She says she had a seizure

of some sort. No records supporting that, but in that series, she mentions a very similar medical emergency.

GRACE: Everyone, prayers go on for Bobbi Kristina. Whitney Houston, I get so emotional from Arista records.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

GRACE: Now, live, North Carolina suburbs, a woman goes wild and catches a felony case of road rage. Kristen Lee Phillips goes berserk,

allegedly trying to slam her silver Chevy Trailblazer into Sherry Hastings and her little granddaughter driving along in their silver Buick. As

(inaudible), screams and cries in the back seat, Phillips races to the victim`s car. After punching the mom through the open window on the

driver`s side, Phillips tops it all off by standing in the rain on the two- lane in front of the victim`s car, giving the little girl the double bird. And a mouth full of obscenities. But guess what, crazy lady, you`re caught

on tape.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: She`s right on me, and I tapped my brakes a little bit to get her off me. She went to go around. I`m like, okay.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Stop, stop. [ baby crying ]

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Cussing at me, you want to fight, I`ll kick your butt.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: Straight out to Ashlea Kosikowski with WECT. What happened?

ASHLEA KOSIKOWSKI: Well, it all goes down on tape as you see there, and according to the woman who was the victim of this road rage incident,

Kristen Phillips is acting like a real character, that`s what she says in the tape, as you can see Kristen Phillips drives the SUV and then just gets

out of her car about three minutes into that video, screaming, cursing, I mean, a picture perfect case of road rage, don`t you think?

GRACE: She starts -- approaches the car, and you can see her running up to the windshield, it just makes me wince. Can you imagine having your

children in the back seat the way this little Destiny was in the back seat screaming and crying.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Stop it, stop it.

Stop.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: You can hear the baby screaming and crying. Also with me, sergeant Bernie Maness with the Randall County sheriff`s department. Every

time I hear this, you can hear -- we`re bleeping out all of her obscenities. Sergeant, what do you make of it?

SGT BERNIE MANESS, RANDALL COUNTY: It`s upsetting, when we got the video, the first thing we keyed in on is once we heard the kid, it kind of

breaks your heart, anytime it`s a kid, it touches you. So we`re pretty upset about that.

GRACE: I guess so, Sergeant. With me right now, the alleged road rage victim Sherry Hastings. Thank you for being with us.

SHERRY HASTINGS: Thank you.

GRACE: You know, I don`t know what I would have done if I had my 7- year-old twins in the back seat and this lady rushes the car. You`re on two lanes, nowhere for you to go. And attacks the car. What happened,

Sherry?

HASTINGS: Well, in the beginning, she was tailgating me to where I really didn`t see anything but the hood of her car, and I tapped my brakes

and maybe she was distracted, hoping to get her attention. Apparently that wasn`t the case. It all just -- like I said before, she intended to go

around, she couldn`t make it the second time, she about ran me off the road. As soon as she got in front of me, she hit the brakes, and 911 was

called. I put my video camera on the dash mantle thing and just videotaped it. I said if there`s an accident or something else --

GRACE: Take a listen to this 911 call.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: 911, what`s the address --

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I need an officer, we`re on highway 220 north, we`re on Randallman road. I have a driver in front of me, she`s lost it.

She came over, banged on my window, pulled the strap on my seat belt.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Can you drive away from her?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I am trying now. She has the road blocked. There is traffic on both sides. My granddaughter--

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Where are you at right now?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I have video.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: Unleash the lawyers, Hugo Rodrigez, Miami. Trinity Hundredmark, joining me out of Atlanta. Hugo, we all know that if you

touch an object that is touching the victim, that that counts as an assault. This woman banging on the car, reaching in through the window.

To me this is a felony.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Stop, stop it.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

RODRIGUEZ: I don`t think it`s a felony. But what happened before that. What predicated it? We only have a snapshot, we don`t have the

entire picture. And I don`t think this is --

GRACE: What do you mean, what predicated it?

RODRIGUEZ: Well, we don`t -- we have one side of the story, as you well know, there`s always two sides to a story. We have this alleged

victim`s story.

GRACE: Hold on. Look at the video, she`s sitting in her car.

RODRIGUEZ: What happened after the fact. What happened prior to that? Did she cut her off?

GRACE: Apparently -- Sherri Hastings, Hugo Rodrigez is suggesting this is all your fault somehow. I disagree. Response, Sherri?

HASTINGS: No. I did everything -- I would do the same thing again. She was behind me, I slowed down, tried to stay calm, and did my best to

get her in front of me, to where I could get her out of my way and hoping she would calm down after that. There`s road rage out there. I spent 17

years as a truck driver. And out of those 17 years, one thing I learned is patience.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Stop. Stop it.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: She`s lost it, she just came over, banged on my window, pulled my strap on my seat belt.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Behind -- [ bleep ] stop it. Stop it. [ crying ]

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: Okay, this lady goes berserk in an apparent felony case of road rage. Unleash the lawyers. Hugo Rodriguez, Trinity Hundredmark also

with me out of L.A., psychiatrist Dr. Charles Sophie. Trinity Hundredmark, your partner there, Hugo Rodriguez, says maybe something instigated this.

Well, you know what, this woman, the alleged victim in this case is sitting in her car with a child screaming in the back seat. Remember the old

saying, sticks and stones can`t break my bones? I mean, I teach my children you never hit back or retaliate just because of what someone says.

I mean it`s caught on video. How are you and Rodriguez somehow saying, it`s the victim`s fault?

HUNDREDMARK: Nancy, I don`t think either of us are saying it`s the victim`s fault. We don`t have the whole story. We don`t know if these two

women have a history, we don`t know anything about them. We don`t know anything about this lady. Obviously she`s a little off here, she wants to

have a real reason to have road rage, she should come to Atlanta, where we had terrible traffic today. But really, Nancy, we just don`t know enough

about it. We don`t know enough about the situation.

(CROSSTALK)

GRACE: Let me just ask the two of you, even if they did have a history, which apparently they do not. They didn`t know each other.

That`s irrelevant. That`s just like saying, when you have a domestic violence case, oh, well they have a history, they`re married. That doesn`t

make it okay. Even if these two did have a history, that does not excuse under a law this behavior. I want to go to Dr. Charles Sophy, psychiatrist

out of L.A. Since when is it okay to jump out of your car in the middle of traffic and go attack somebody. Especially with a child in the back seat,

Dr. Sophy?

SOPHY: Absolutely, it`s never okay. Especially if you don`t know there`s a child and then you get to that car, you see that child, your

self-control should go into play. She lost it.

GRACE: So right here with her beating on the windows. Shooting the double bird in front of the little girl, to Ashlea Kosikowski, joining me

from WECT, what are the charges? What is she going to be charged with?

KOSIKOWSKI: Well, she was charged with reckless driving to endanger, assault and battery, driving left of center, and communicating threats.

She`s due in court on the ninth of this month.

GRACE: Now, what do you mean by assault and battery? What is that?

KOSIKOWSKI: I believe it has to do with that point in the video where you see her reaching into Hastings` car. And I`m telling you what I`m so

impressed by what Hastings did. She thought so quickly by rolling up that window. Who would have thought that quickly to get that window up and get

herself safely in her car and prevent a further attack.

GRACE: Justin Freiman also on the story, this is how people in similar situations end up dead. You get crazy. You get angry. People

have a gun in their car or access to a weapon. They just lose it. It`s not a defense under a law. There`s no road rage defense, but when is this

going to court? What`s going to happen?

FREIMAN: She`s out without a bond basically. It will be going to court. They just haven`t set that date.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

GRACE: Serial killer and cult leader Charles Manson hits the headlines again over three decades after a murder spree that shocks the

nation, including the murder of actress Sharon Tate. Tonight, the Tate family furious. Mass killer Charles Manson weds behind bars to a 26-year-

old woman, a Manson groupie look-alike. Jail policy? Manson gets to kiss the bride. Tonight, we learn serial killer Charles Manson wants a baby.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I am Charles Manson`s wife.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Reports have emerged that convicted killer Charles Manson is desperate to have a child with his new bride, even if he has to

smuggle his own sperm out of prison to do it.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: He did not break the law.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Manipulators and con artists are doing what they do.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: It tasted like poison in my mouth when I said, Charles Manson wants a baby. To Candace Trunzo, senior news editor with Dailymail.com,

Charles Manson wants a baby?

TRUNZO: Incredible, Nancy. Just incredible. You know, this young woman, when she was 19 years old, I mean, she was a groupie for Manson.

She felt he was innocent. She believed in him. She started to hang out near the prison. Now she is about to be his bride if she`s not married to

him already. And he wants a baby with her. We hear this from his son, the son who was born of a woman that Charles Manson raped.

GRACE: To Matt Zarrell on this story, how is he going to get his bride, his jailhouse bride pregnant? They don`t have conjugal visits.

ZARRELL: According to Manson`s son, he believes Manson is hoping to smuggle the sperm out of prison and has come up with other schemes as well.

GRACE: Matt Zarrell, you are putting an ugly picture in my mind. Alisa Statman, author of "Restless Souls," former partner of Patty Tate,

Sharon Tate`s sister. That would mean that Charles Manson has to masturbate behind bars and get the sperm out of the jail somehow to

impregnate his jailhouse bride. I wish I didn`t have to think about that.

ALISA STATMAN, AUTHOR, RESTLESS SOULS: Most frightening question I think that we need to ask ourselves as we learn more and more about genetic

profiling and coding is what kind of Pandora`s box could open up if Charles Manson is allowed to spurn another child into this world? We have no idea.

He had one son who committed suicide. None of his existing children are pillars of society. Which one of these genetic codes is going to split and

we end up with another serial killer like Charles Manson?

GRACE: To Dr. Tim Gallagher, forensic pathologist, I mean, even at his age, it`s absolutely physically possible for him to get someone

pregnant, right?

GALLAGHER: Yes, it is. Males can produce viable sperm their entire life. There`s no male menopause.

GRACE: What are the chances, Dr. Gallagher, that if the jailhouse bride can smuggle his sperm out of the prison, what`s the chances of

success?

GALLAGHER: Well, chances of success are very good, actually. They may have to do multiple attempts at it. But in vitro fertilization can

work as well as artificial insemination with the sperm.

GRACE: How long will the sperm remain viable?

GALLAGHER: Sperm can remain viable alive outside of the body for a couple of hours. But you could actually freeze them and it has been known

that they can still inseminate an egg and produce an embryo after 40 years of being frozen.

GRACE: Everyone, here are crime screen photos of the horrific Tate murders. Tate-Labianca murders. Well accepted, Charles Manson was the

mastermind behind the murders. Now we learn through a convergence of events, Manson -- Charles Manson, wants a baby. Unleash the lawyers, Hugo

Rodriguez, Trinity Hundredmark. Listen, I`m all about humane treatment behind bars. But procreating with Charles Manson? Hugo, no, nobody

mentioned that in the Constitution.

RODRIGUEZ: Nancy, it`s not going to happen. Jail officials won`t allow it to happen. It`s not --

GRACE: Really?

RODRIGUEZ: It`s not going to happen.

GRACE: Okay.

RODRIGUEZ: You told them it`s coming. They will have -- they will ensure that that doesn`t happen.

GRACE: Let`s stop and remember American hero Marine Corporal Matthew Dillon, just 25, South Carolina. Two Purple Hearts, from a family of

military vets, also served the Army, dreamed of being a police officer. Parents, Neil and Lucy. Brothers Rob and Michael. Matthew Dillon,

American hero.
