GRACE: Good evening. I`m Nancy Grace. I want to thank you for being with us.

Bombshell tonight. We go live to Sprague suburbs near Interstate 90, where two little children en route to the neighborhood park just outside the

local grocery, when a slender white male approaches the two siblings, making off with 22-month-old Owen Wright in a stroller, running with the

toddler in his arms, the siblings chasing after the man clutching their little brother. And it`s all caught on video.

Bombshell tonight, clues to the kidnapping. Did the brazen kidnapper drop a Bible pamphlet -- a Bible pamphlet -- in a secluded alley as he fled away

with the boy tot? Now, remember, this was on a Sunday right at high noon. Look at this guy running with the child. He drops a Bible pamphlet in the

alley. Had he just come from some church service? And what was the scripture that day?

Take a listen to the 911.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

911 OPERATOR: (INAUDIBLE) County 911. Location of your emergency?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Sprague, Washington, downtown, the main street. A man grabbed a little kid. (INAUDIBLE) and we got the kid, but the man is

loose somewhere.

911 OPERATOR: Where at downtown Sprague?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Right in the main street, right across from the tavern.

911 OPERATOR: You got a road name or anything?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: OK. Yes.

911 OPERATOR: And...

(CROSSTALK)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: It was -- a man grabbed a 2-year-old baby child and was running with it, and the little kids started screaming.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: Can you even imagine? The baby-sitter allows the three children -- you`ve got the big sister -- and this is the heart-breaking part. Not only

do you see that, but you see the siblings chasing down the sidewalk. There`s the big sister running -- He`s got my brother, he`s got my brother

-- and the little brother running after her. They want their baby brother back. They sound the alarm.

This guy turns down a secluded alleyway, where two other teens -- they give chase. They`re chasing the guy. And in the middle of it all, he drops a

Bible pamphlet. Remember, this is just after services.

Everyone, with me right now is Casey Lund, reporter with CNN affiliate KXLY. I`m understanding that we now have a perp, an alleged perp, in

custody. What do we know about him?

CASEY LUND, KXLY CORRESPONDENT: We know that he`s 15 years old, Nancy, again Shocking news in the fact that he was actually one of the classmates

of those two teens that chased after him. So it was two boys that heard the screams of that young girl and her brother chasing after them. They

led (ph) chase again. And that student was someone that they knew, again, a 15-year-old boy. So we don`t know his identity, of course. They`re not

going to release that. But really, really shocking...

GRACE: Because this is just so...

LUND: ... not only to the town of Sprague...

GRACE: ... incredibly odd. I wonder what idea, what frame of mind the perp is working under to go up to a baby stroller, Casey Lund, KXLY, and

snatch the baby out of the stroller, taking off -- hold on. With me right now, in addition to the father of little Owen, the two young men who chased

this guy down. With me, Andrew Crane and also with me Isaac Yow, both of them chasing them down, Andrew and Isaac.

Thank you for being with us. First to you, Andrew. What made you look? What made you notice this guy running with the baby?

ANDREW CRANE, CHASED ALLEGED ABDUCTOR (via telephone): The first alerting to me was that he was running across the street. And then the little girl

began to scream, and that was when I first noticed that something was kind of off about the entire situation.

GRACE: How would you describe her screams, Andrew?

CRANE: Her screams had kind of a blood-curdling pitch to it, kind of like a -- kind of like a mournful scream, I suppose.

GRACE: And is that when shortly after that, you started chasing the guy?

CRANE: We first stopped and asked the little girl what had happened to be sure that something was wrong. And then yes, we did begin to pursue.

GRACE: OK. Again, everyone, with me is Andrew and Isaac Yow, who chased the guy away down an alley. To you, Isaac Yow. This guy has had a few

troubling incidents in the past of following people -- following people around town?

ISAAC YOW, CHASED ALLEGED ABDUCTOR (via telephone): Yes. That is...

GRACE: Yes. Do you know -- the police were notified on those occasions, right?

YOW: Yes, they were notified on at least one occasion that I know of that police were notified...

GRACE: Yes.

YOW: There were two occasions that I know of.

GRACE: Back to Casey Lund, CNN affiliate reporter with KXLY. Is it true that the way the guy was ultimately identified was not only by the two

heroes, Andrew and Isaac, but also because police were able to enhance the video?

LUND: Yes, and they were able to get some still shots and then track down somebody -- that the young girl was actually able to positive ID later.

GRACE: Wow.

LUND: So I mean, she played a huge role in this. Can you imagine? I think she`s 8. And really just an insane thing for her to go through and

then still be able to give the police...

GRACE: Well, what`s so -- yes, it is, to go through that, as you`re saying, Casey Lund, and still be able to make an ID.

With me is Larry Fishelson, technology expert. How do you do that? How were they able to ID this guy? And yes, as many of the viewers were

calling in, he is wearing glasses. This is the guy we were all watching and everyone looking for, a major manhunt.

So Larry Fishelson. How were they able to enhance this so this guy could be identified?

LARRY FISHELSON, TECHNOLOGY EXPERT (via telephone): Yes. Hi, Nancy. What they`re able to do is with video enhancement software, you can get an

amazing still image. What they do is they use contrast, sharpening, magnifying and brightening the dark spots, which gives you the detail. So

they change the frame size. They clean the image. They apply special filters, and it gives you amazing still images. And that`s how they did it

in this case.

GRACE: Wow. Wow. To Pat Lalama -- one thing that`s being investigated is why this guy, right after church lets out, comes out on the sidewalk, finds

this child, grabs him and takes off, dropping a Bible-type pamphlet in a secluded alley as he runs. This is right after church services are letting

out right in the area.

PAT LALAMA, INVESTIGATION JOURNALIST: I have a theory about this, Nancy, because keep in mind, one of things he said to the children was, Hey, kids

really like me. I`m really good with kids. I`m a good baby-sitter. And I think carrying something related to church could have been part of the ruse

to get their sense of protection with him.

GRACE: Exactly. Joining me right now, I`m hearing in my ear, is Michael Wright. This is little Owen`s father. Mr. Wright, thank you for being

with us.

MICHAEL WRIGHT, FATHER OF TODDLER (via telephone): Oh, not a problem, Nancy. How are you doing today?

GRACE: Sir, I`m just so happy that Owen is safe, number one. How did you first learn your son had been kidnapped right on the street?

WRIGHT: Well, I ended up getting a phone call from my hysteric wife saying something about my little boy, Owen, being abducted. And you know, at

first, you know, things (INAUDIBLE) you know, my whole body. I just pretty much, you know, driving down the street, you know, I froze, you know? And

you know, that gut-wrenching feeling, you know, is nothing that I can describe to anybody, you know? Parents out there that have had their, you

know, children abducted and everything know that feeling.

So like I said, I got the phone call. And I happened to be only 15 miles out. You know, at that time, I was working, and I ended up showing up on

location.

GRACE: I cannot even imagine.

For those of you just joining us, this 22-month-old tot was grabbed out of his stroller in broad daylight on a Sunday afternoon around lunchtime,

right on the sidewalk. He`s with his two siblings, 8-year-old sister and brother. They give chase, screaming bloody murder, trying to get their

little brother back. And those screams from the sister may have saved this boy`s life. Take a look at this video. They go chasing after the

kidnapper.

With us right now, the boy`s father, Michael Wright, who describes the moment he gets that call in his car that his son has been kidnapped, his

baby boy. Michael Wright, you arrive on the scene. And what did you learn about how this whole thing happened?

WRIGHT: Well, basically, the same thing that the news is covering on it. First (INAUDIBLE) parked in town and everything, ran out to give my

children a big hug, you know. And you know, of course, emotional, you know, things are going. I just kept on thinking to myself how relieved I

am that, you know, my children are still safe.

And then, of course, you know, I get the rest of the story from, you know, my daughter, my son, you know, Delicia and my son, Brendan (ph) (INAUDIBLE)

shop owner, you know, that helped with the 911 call, had told me, you know, what had happened.

So of course, you know, emotions rising and, you know, me shaking and everything else, and you know, comforting my kids. You know, I was just

(INAUDIBLE) and I waited, you know, of course, you know, for the sheriff`s department to give me a little more idea on what happened.

GRACE: With me right now, Marc Klaas, president, founder of Klaas Kids Foundation. Marc, it`s classic, going up to the children, saying, Oh, I`m

a baby-sitter. I love children. I work with children all the time.

What`s very odd about this -- and it may shed light into motive -- is to -- the timing. It`s Sunday right after church. He`s dressed up in a coat and

pants, as we`ve observed before. Why was he wearing a coat and a sports jacket and pants? He comes out, obviously dressed up, right after church

lets out with Bible paraphernalia, Bible pamphlets with him.

What was he thinking, Marc Klaas? What scripture did he misinterpret to think he had to go and kidnap a baby boy, Marc Klaas?

MARC KLAAS, KLAAS KIDS FOUNDATION: Well, Nancy, you should never ask me about scripture because I really am unable to address that. But I think

the fact that he was dressed so well probably is the reason that they misinterpreted his age and thought that he might be older.

But Nancy, I`d like to really commend these young men for doing the right thing. And I`d also like to say that as much as the kids helped and as

much as the grandmother helped to do this, we also have to commend the value of surveillance video. It seems to be one of the great crime-

fighting tools of the 21st century.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The kids did a fantastic job that actually, you know, chased the suspect.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: (INAUDIBLE)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: She played the biggest part because if she wouldn`t have been screaming, we wouldn`t have known nothing was wrong.

(CROSSTALK)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: A man grabbed about a little -- a man grabbed about 2-year-old baby child.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Scary to think that it`s happening, and it`s even scarier to think that what if his plot succeeded.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: In the last hours, the perpetrator who allegedly grabs this child off the street in broad daylight, about high noon on a Sunday, dressed as

he if he had just come from church services, runs dropping a Bible pamphlet in a secluded alley, has been identified and has been put behind bars at

this hour.

Take a listen to what the little sister says who goes running after her baby brother, sounding the alarm.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What did you think when you saw him grab your brother?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I thought he was trying to kidnap him.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: So what did you do?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I ran and screamed.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What did he say to you?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Well, he said he was nice to kids and he had been baby-sitting for a long time.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Really? So he tried to make friends with you.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yes. But he lied to me.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: What you just heard was from ABC`s "Good Morning America."

A lot of people have been wondering why were the children out and about by themselves to start with? Now, remember, this is a very small community of

just 500 people, OK? These children have been playing supervised and on their own in a local park very close to the home for nearly two years. So

that day, that fateful day, the baby-sitter allowed them this time to walk to the park. Take a listen.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Of course I do. I have no choice. And it`s my fault. I take full blame of it. But they`ve always went to the park. You

know, there`s never been any stranger danger around here. But I am so grateful that they got somebody else off the street that could cause our

kids this!

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: Thank you to KHQ-TV.

Joining me also is the child`s father. With me is Marc Klaas, president and founder of Klaas Kids Foundation. Marc Klaas, of course, this is not

the first time a child has been kidnapped in broad daylight.

KLAAS: No, it`s not at all, Nancy. It unfortunately happens on a regular basis. We know that one third of all kidnappings in the United States

occur when children are either going to school or coming home from school, and that`s almost always in the daylight.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

GRACE: To Greenfield, a 7-year-old boy at the local Walmart with his family goes into a private stall in the men`s bathroom only to be molested

by a 27-year-old registered sex offender, the perp caught on tape fleeing the store.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: His mother was standing right outside the door waiting on him.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Police say the man was already in the restroom when he saw the boy enter the stall and then allegedly groped him.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: The boy told his mother the man reached under the stall and touched him in his private area.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: When will everybody get it? Don`t let your children go in the bathroom alone! According to what we have learned in the past hours, this

perv had been waiting in the bathroom for a really long time, waiting for a child to enter.

And it`s not this guy`s first time. We`ve dug up guilty pleas of molesting a little boy and a little girl. And here he is, out walking free. And I

want you to know he got straight probation for those offenses. Not only did he get straight probation, he violated his parole three times. And

guess what? Every time he violated his parole, he got even more probation. I mean, really?

To James Gemmell joining me, news director with Newstalk 1340, WJRW. James, first let me just put first things first. What happened in the

Walmart? Then I`ll get to the judge that gave this perp straight probation. What happened in the Walmart?

JAMES GEMMELL, WJRW (via telephone): Well, this 27-year-old David Patterson (ph) of Indianapolis allegedly fondled a 7-year-old boy, as you

alluded to...

GRACE: You know what? Hold on, James. Let`s just not put perfume on the pig. What he did was, the little boy goes in a stall, pulls his pants

down, and he`s sitting on the commode when this guy comes out from under the stall and grabs the boy`s penis and tries to masturbate him, James.

GEMMELL: Well, indeed. And the mother was outside waiting there, and Greenfield police used some surveillance video to show the man arriving

there first -- apparently, he was in there for 36 minutes -- and then later used a photo from the security camera video and the mother`s verbal

description of Patterson to...

GRACE: Incredible. Incredible!

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Authorities say a 27-year-old man molested a 7-year-old boy in a public bathroom at Indiana Wal-Mart.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The little boy came out of the restroom and informed her that a man in there had touched him inappropriately.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

NANCY GRACE, HLN HOST: You know it`s a little more than inappropriate touch according to the police report. A little boy goes with his family to

the local Wal-Mart and goes into the bathroom. While in the bathroom he goes into a private stall. In that stall the little boy, aged 7, pulls

down his pants and sits down on the commode. At that point, according to the little boy, a convicted child molester, this guy, comes up under the

stall and begins grabbing the little boy`s penis in his attempt to masturbate the little boy.

To Dr. Bethany Marshall, our reports show -- do you see all those mug shots?

BETHANY MARSHALL, PSYCHOANALYST, AUTHOR OF "DEALBREAKERS": Yes.

GRACE: It is not the first time this has happened. There`s been a previous little boy that he pled guilty to molesting. A little girl. Same

thing. Trying to masturbate the children. And he gets straight probation, Bethany. Straight probation, which leaves him free to then attack this

little boy at the Wal-Mart.

MARSHALL: Nancy, it`s a travesty. Do you know that sex offenders molest on average for 17 years before they come to the attention of law

enforcement? So giving someone like this straight probation is just sending him right back out to molest more children.

I have a hard time believing he just reached under the stall to molest or masturbate the little boy. He must have wedged himself under the

partition.

And Nancy, this little boy told his mom. How many other little boys walk in and out of that restroom in the 36 minutes that that guy was there? I

hope that they have these other families on surveillance and they can track other families down to see what trauma was perpetrated against other boys

who went into the bathroom that day.

GRACE: Well, I just want to point out that it`s Judge Richard Culver that first gave this guy probation, according to our reports. Judge Richard

Culver. Graduated from Indiana University Law School.

We tried to reach out to him. And it wasn`t just a one-shot deal because the guy continued to violate his probation rules. Pornography was found on

his computer. There was a drug incident. Moving without giving probation his new address.

This guy has not been convicted of this yet. But caught on Wal-Mart surveillance is him leaving the bathroom.

Hold on, Bethany Marshall. I`m being joined right now by Detective Lieutenant Randy Ratliff, with the Greenfield Police Department.

Detective, thanks so much for being with us. You guys did an awesome job, Detective. How long had this guy been waiting in the bathroom, do you

think, Detective?

DET. LT. RANDY RATLIFF, GREENFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT: He had been in the bedroom approximately 16 minutes.

GRACE: Now according to our reports we`ve got 36 minutes based on the time the surveillance shows him going in. But you know what? He may very well

have left, looked around, gone back in.

What I`m trying to figure out is why this guy was out on probation to start with, Detective Ratliff?

RATLIFF: I have no idea, ma`am.

GRACE: This is a scary case, everybody. We`re talking about a Wal-Mart attack.

To Detective Ratliff, what did the Wal-Mart surveillance reveal about the perp`s actions, David Patterson?

RATLIFF: He had spent, like I said, a considerable amount of time in the restroom. He had been in the store about 36 minutes. Of the time he was

in the restroom twice for the last time when the actual molesting occurred 16 monies during that visit.

GRACE: To Clark Goldband -- Clark, what more do we know right now as to why this guy was walking around on straight probation?

CLARK GOLDBAND, NANCY GRACE PRODUCER, COVERING STORY: Well, Nancy, there were some incidents where he was assigned work release. He was assigned to

time served and suspended sentences. But I want to take you back very quickly to what happened in that Wal-Mart.

I think it`s important to point out here, according to authorities, when he first entered the Wal-Mart, Nancy, he didn`t head straight for the bathroom

according to reports. He dropped off a prescription for some dental medicine. And then, allegedly, went into the bathroom where the alleged

molestation occurred. Now that prescription medication was allegedly never picked up. So authorities may have been able to obtain the suspect`s name

that way.

GRACE: Good police work. So he goes and he drops off a prescription and then leaves. Now how, Detective Ratliff, did you guys match up a tag

number?

RATLIFF: Actually he was identified through the sex offender registry by the person in Hancock County, Indiana, that monitors that registry.

GRACE: Wow. Clark, did they manage to get a tag, a license tag on the car?

GOLDBAND: Nancy, according to reports they were able to get surveillance of the car. And when law enforcement got the I.D. of the suspect, they

then tracked the vehicle and saw it outside of one of his relatives` homes according to authorities.

GRACE: So he lives with what? His grandparents?

GOLDBAND: Yes.

GRACE: OK. Hold on. Back to James Gemmell, news director at WJRW.

Jim, thanks again for being with us.

James Gemmell, what you do know about his priors? The prior incidents where he tried to masturbate a little boy and a little girl in bed?

JAMES GEMMELL, NEWS DIRECTOR, WJRW: Well, he was convicted in 2009 in Hancock County, the 2008 incidents. It was one a boy telling his mother

about it. Apparently he turned down the TV, Patterson did, allegedly, and put in an adult rated videotape message, put some lotion on his hands and

then put his hand underneath the boy`s pajama bottoms, and started massaging his privates.

And then also similar incident with a girl. He entered the little girl`s bedroom while he was working at a safe body program at a school. But

during that time he apparently went in there and asked to put on a teddy bear and asked her what she was doing and then started doing a similar type

of thing. So it`s all very disgusting.

GRACE: Unleash the lawyers. Bradford Cohen and Kush Aurora, both defense attorneys.

Straight to you, Bradford Cohen. What`s your defense here?

BRADFORD COHEN, DEFENSE ATTORNEY: Well, the number one defense, the first defense obviously, is identity. Whether or not they can identify him. The

thing that`s going to hurt him obviously is that he -- if there is an alleged prescription he dropped off and also his license plate. So then

you move on to whether or not the child`s accounting of the -- of what actually happened was accurate.

The child is 7 years old. There is a couple of things that he was saying that went on in terms of reaching underneath the stall as opposed to him

actually getting underneath the stall. There is a couple of things there that might be questionable. So that`s kind of the two defenses that you`d

have in a case like.

The first defense is probably the weaker defense. The second defense is, and every defense attorney would tell you that, is that it`s one person`s

word versus another person`s word.

What`s suspicious is, you know, why didn`t the child yell out. Why didn`t he go out right away. Why wasn`t the individual caught as soon as he

walked out of the bathroom. When the child walked out of the bathroom, you`d think he would have said something to his mom right away.

GRACE: Well, I believe he --

COHEN: Not doubting whether or not it happened but it`s something that would be attacked.

GRACE: Clark, didn`t he speak to his mother -- didn`t he tell his mom what happened?

GOLDBAND: Nancy, according to reports he told her and law enforcement was called right away, yes.

GRACE: To Kush Aurora, also joining us, defense lawyer out of D.C.

What`s your best defense here? I mean, you know at trial that the similar transactions that he pled guilty to. It was not a jury trial. Pled

guilty. I mean, why not? This judge, Richard Culver, gave him a sweetheart deal, probation, for molesting two children.

KUSH AURORA, DEFENSE ATTORNEY: Well, I`m not sure --

GRACE: But long story short, you know that`s going come in at trial. The same exact scenario, just different place.

AURORA: I`m going to echo what the other defense attorney on the panel said. But I`ll also say that what we haven`t really explored is whether

this individual has mental health issues. I mean, the sequence of events that we`re talking about. Somebody dropping off a prescription at the

pharmacy clearly --

GRACE: I couldn`t hear what you said. They`re going to challenge what?

AURORA: I`m certain that there`s going to be some mental health issues that are brought into light during the course of this trial. I mean, we`re

talking about an individual that dropped off a prescription clearly with his identifying information on it.

GRACE: Hold on. Hold on. The prescription is not for him.

(CROSSTALK)

GRACE: It`s not for him. He never had any --

AURORA: Well, how do you know that that was necessarily --

GRACE: Lithium, Prozac, nothing.

AURORA: No, no, no, no. That`s not the point that I`m making. The point that I`m making is that he left himself open to identification. If there

is a name on the prescription, he`s dropping it off there. Clearly pharmacies have cameras. We know that. He`s left himself open to

identification.

(CROSSTALK)

GRACE: What was your point?

AURORA: Going to the restroom after that and going in and waiting there for a period of time certainly is not something that a sane person who`s

planned out a criminal act is going to do.

GRACE: OK. So let me ask you this, Kush.

AURORA: So there was more to this incident than I think that we have information on right now.

GRACE: Kush. Kush, I know that you could continue your soliloquy.

AURORA: I certainly could.

GRACE: Until the hour is up. But if you are arguing this is too dumb to be true? Yes, that`s been tried.

As I was trying to say, Marc Klaas, this is not the first time this has happened. Take a listen.

Congratulations, Facebook friend, Bill Webster. You got it right.

Hopefully we`ll be able to stump you guys next time.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Things that you wouldn`t even imagine have dairy in them.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Hardest thing for me was I didn`t even get to talk to him.

GRACE: Live to Minnesota, a parent`s worst nightmare. A suburban Minneapolis family heads to the local cafe for a big family breakfast but

after just two pancakes, their young boy dead. Why? Death by milk.

To Andrew Lee at KTLK. Andrew, what happened?

ANDREW LEE, KTLK REPORTER: Cindy Johnson took her three children to the Minnesota Nice Cafe up in Bemidji, it`s a small town about a few hours

north of the twin cities. And as you heard one of her children, 16-year- old Scott Johnson, had a severe dairy allergy. So he wanted to go out for pancakes. He asked if they could a take him out for pancakes. They made

sure to ask the waitress, are your gluten free pancakes also dairy free?

They were assured by the waitress at that time that they were indeed dairy free. And they even took the extra step of saying make sure to clean the

grill before you prepare these pancakes. Because if anything was cooked on there that used butter or any dairy product, and it got into those

pancakes, you`ll have a reaction.

They assured him that the grill would be cleaned, that the pancake were gluten and dairy free. And after just eating those two pancakes, within 15

minutes he started to have an allergic reaction.

GRACE: So not only did they ask the waitress, she said hold on, let me go check. She goes back. She saw that the pancakes were gluten free. They

needed to make sure they were also dairy free. Waitress goes back. Comes back and assures them, yes, they are dairy free. Then mom says, plus,

please clean off the griddle so there`s no hint of dairy on that griddle before you cook this and make sure. Immediately after eating the pancakes,

he begins to go into I guess anaphylactic shock.

Hold on. Right now CNN Heroes.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I had been a delivery driver coming up on a year now. Having a car problem just brings a lot of stress. There`s a smell of gas.

I`m definitely worried about my safety. Having two daughters, it just really heightened the situation.

CATHY HEYING, CNN HERO: I was a social worker for 15 years. I kept seeing people struggling with making ends meet. One car repair can upset the

entire apple cart. I just kept thinking, why isn`t somebody doing something about this? Then one day it occurred to me, dang, I think that

somebody might be me.

I did not grow up working on cars, so I ended up getting a degree in auto technology.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Every time I get in the car I smell it.

HEYING: Does it get worse when you turn on the heat? How we`re different than a regular garage is that people have to meet certain income

requirements.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I was quoted close to 1400.

HEYING: We charge the customer $15 an hour for labor. Market rate is about $100 an hour. We don`t do any markup on the parts. So we are a lot

less.

So you`re looking at about $300.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: OK. I would give you guys more, you know.

(LAUGHTER)

HEYING: A car that works allows them to meet the basic needs of their lives with dignity. Thanks for your patience.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You get a hug.

HEYING: I like that.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: They fixed everything. It`s just a lot of weight off my shoulders.

HEYING: Thanks, take care.

It`s about moving people forward and moving their lives forward.

GRACE: Their son dead after just two pancakes. The waitress assured them no dairy in his gluten-free pancakes.

To Nona Narvaez. Nona is the founder of Anaphylactic and Food Allergy Association in Minnesota. What happened?

NONA NARVAEZ, FOUNDER, ANAPHYLACTIC AND FOOD ALLERGY ASSOCIATION, MINNESOTA: Well, unfortunately, this young man had an exposure to the

allergen. And he went into an anaphylactic reaction. And unfortunately, he didn`t have his Epinephrine with him. And Epinephrine, which is the

same thing as adrenalin, is the only thing that can reverse an anaphylactic reaction. And it`s imperative to have Epinephrine as quickly as possible.

GRACE: Right.

To Dr. Michelle Dupre, forensic pathologist. What happens? You need an EpiPen with you to stab yourself. What happens to your body when you have

anaphylactic shock? And why would milk trigger that?

DR. MICHELLE DUPRE, M.D., MEDICAL EXAMINER AND FORENSIC PATHOLOGIST: Nancy, usually what happens in an anaphylactic shock is histamine is

released in the body because of the allergen or whatever the person is allergic to. And that can cause airways to swell and to constrict. The

EpiPen releases those. It`s benzoyl dilator. And it will release that and make the person able to breathe easier.

GRACE: You are seeing shots right now of Scott who lost his life after just two pancakes. He went into anaphylactic shock after being assured no

dairy at all in his pancakes.
