CHRIS CUOMO, CNN NEWS ANCHOR: ... forward and please send the same with the family.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Thank you very much.

CUOMO: All right, thank you.

KRISTIE LU STOUT, CNN ANCHOR: Oh, that was such a stirring interview and a beautiful tribute to one of the shooting victims there in California.

You've been watching CNN's continued coverage of the human toll in the aftermath of the shootings in California.

I'm Kristie Lu Stout in Hong Kong.

Let's take a look at the top international news stories this hour. Now, Germany is the latest country to join the military campaign against ISIS in

Syria. In fact, just a short time ago, German lawmakers voted in favor, providing military support through reconnaissance missions and refueling.

Germany will not, however, be conducting air strikes.

Now, let's go straight to Berlin. Our senior international correspondent, Atika Shubert is there. She joins us now.

And Atika, we know the measure has passed, but in practical terms, what difference will it make in the ground in Syria and the fight against ISIS?

ATIKA SHUBERT, CNN SENIOR INTERNATIONAL CORRESPONDENT: Well, it's really logistical support that Germany has providing. It did pass very easily the

exact numbers, 445 against -- excuse me, for the measure, 146 against and seven abstentions. It was a very spirited debate about what impact Germany

would have in helping the coalition against ISIS. But the justification was that France essentially asked Germany for help in its mission to strike

ISIS in Syria.

So, Germany will be providing reconnaissance flights with the tornado jets. It will also be providing midair refueling and that will allow French

planes, for example, to go for longer missions as it looks for those targets -- ISIS targets in Syria.

There will also be a Navy frigate that will also be deployed with a maximum of 1200 German troops to help with all of this logistical support. But the

key, as you point out, is that none of this is in a combat role. Germany is very much in a supportive role on this, but an important one as far as

Germany and France is concerned.

STOUT: That's right. A supportive role, but never less joining the military campaign against ISIS in Syria.

Atika Shubert, reporting live from Berlin, thank you.

Now, you're watching "News Stream".

And coming up next, as one of the Paris attackers apparently disappears, attention turns to ISIS with the U.K. now in its sites. We'll take you to

London to hear what a counterterrorism source has been telling CNN.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

[08:05:00]

STOUT: Coming to you live from Hong Kong. You bet (ph) watching "News Stream".

Now, the trail for the eight Paris attackers, Salah Abdeslam, has gone cold, that's what the senior European counter-terror official is telling

CNN.

European security agencies have seen no trace of Abdeslam since he was dropped off by friend in Brussels the day after last month's attacks.

Meanwhile, a Paris cafe, that was among the venues targeted has reopened, five people were killed there on the night of November 13th.

Thailand is now on alert. Russian Intelligence has warned authorities that 10 Syrian nationals with links to ISIS entered Thailand in October with

plans to attack Russian interests.

Now, a leaked memo says two of the suspects stayed in Bangkok, four traveled down to Pattaya, two to Phuket and the whereabouts of the other

two, unknown. A Thai police says security is being stepped up just as the country enters its peak holiday season. And destinations, like Phuket and

Pattaya, are very popular with Russian tourists.

Now, European Intelligence suggests that ISIS wants to strike the United Kingdom as a follow-up to Paris, but a counter-terror official tells CNN,

it is not clear how imminent the threat is, nor the specific location.

Our Fred Pleitgen joins us live now from London. And Fred, even though we don't have a lot of details here, what we're hearing is very chilling.

What is the Intelligence suggesting that the U.K. will be targeted by ISIS?

FRED PLEITGEN, CNN SENIOR INTERNATIONAL CORRESPONDENT: What is certainly very chilling, and as you said, the Intelligence are not saying how

imminent exactly this threat is or when exactly such attacks where it is supposed to take place. However, it is saying that apparently the idea for

attacking the United Kingdom originates within ISIS leadership, so somewhere in Iraq or in Syria.

Now, according to those Intelligence source, apparently, British ISIS fighters have been told by senior ISIS leadership to return here to the

United Kingdom and to carry out attacks here in the United Kingdom.

Now, again, they say they're not exactly sure when these attacks are supposed to take place. However, they do fear that the recent vote by

British Parliament to conduct air strikes in Syria and then of course the actual air strikes taking place as they have been over the past couple of

days is something that can compound those concerns and something that could potentially accelerate that process.

Now, David Cameron, the British Prime Minister, said only yesterday that so far in the past year, there been no less than seven foiled terror plots

here in the United Kingdom. Currently, the threat level for terrorist attacks is at severe, which is the second highest level, it's been that way

since August 2014, has not been raised to the highest level of critical at this point just yet. But certainly, the British authorities and the

British government is taking this information very, very seriously, Kristie.

STOUT: All right. Fred Pleitgen, the latest in London. Thank you, Fred.

You're watching "News Stream".

And still to come in the program, a community mourns for the victims of Wednesday's deadly shooting in California. What we know about the

investigation in San Bernardino.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

[08:10:00]

STOUT: I'm Kristie Lu Stout in Hong Kong. You're watching "News Stream".

And these are your world headlines. A candlelight vigil has been held for the victims of Thursday's mass shooting in San Bernardino, California. 14

people were killed and 21 wounded when a married couple stormed a holiday luncheon for county employees. The couple was killed in a shootout with

police. And the search for a motive continues.

German lawmakers devoted to join the military campaign against ISIS in Syria. It is to help with reconnaissance and refueling and will supply

1200 support troops. They are not to lunch air strikes or engage in combat.

Concern about terrorist attacks in the U.K. has intensifying after Britain began bombing ISIS targets in Syria. And European Intelligence suggests

ISIS wants to follow-up its attack in France with a strike in the U.K. A senior counter-terror official tells CNN, it is not known when or where the

terrorists would attack.

Two days after the deadly mass shooting in California, investigators are still searching for answers. And the big question is, "What made a married

couple go on that deadly rampage in San Bernardino?"

Anderson Cooper has what we know so far.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON COOPER, CNN CORRESPONDENT: You're watching the last images of the killers in their SUV before their shot to death in a hail of gunfire.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Oh, my gosh.

COOPER: Recorded by a resident just down the street from where Syed Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, made their last stand with law enforcers.

CHIEF JARROD BURGUAN, SAN BERNARDINO POLICE DEPARTMENT: They opened fire first. Rounds came out of the back of the car from the female that was in

the back, firing through the back of the SUV at the police vehicles. And then the male suspect, who was the driver, got out and then fired at

officers from the street as well.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Shots fired.

COOPER: The shootout in real time heard over police radio.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We can see one guy down. There's one guy in the back of a car.

COOPER: We now know Farook and his wife fire close to 80 rounds, 23 officers returned fire, killing the couple on the scene. And today, we

learned they had an arsenal in that SUV.

BURGUAN: They had over 1402-23 caliber rounds that were available to him. And they had over 209 mm rounds on their persons as well. They have the

2223 assault-style weapons rifles and they had 9 mm pistols with them.

COOPER: And authorities would find an even bigger arsenal here at the couple's home. Thousands of rifle rounds, pistol rounds, 12 pipe bombs and

tools used to make IED's.

Jason Simmons (ph) says his mother is one of Farook's neighbors. How did they seem to you?

JASON SIMMONS: They just seem like a normal family.

COOPER: Law enforcement sources tell CNN, it appears Farook a U.S. citizen well as radicalized. And that he was in touch with more than one terrorism

suspect who the FBI were already investigating.

It's unclear if those suspects were overseas or lived in the United States. As of now, law enforcement is still unwilling to state a definitive motive

for this mass killing. We do know that a holiday party was underway at the Inland Regional Center yesterday, when Farook left under duress.

[08:15:00]

According to law enforcement, when he turned, he and his wife dressed in tactical gear, spray the room with bullets and left behind a homemade bomb.

BURGUAN: The suspects, when they entered, fired somewhere between 65 and 75 rounds from their rifles at the scene. We did locate the one pipe bomb.

It was actually a three pipe bombs combined into one that had a remote control car type, remote control device that appears to have not have

worked in this case.

COOPER: They fled the scene in that black SUV and authorities say a witness to the massacre identified Farook, which led them to his home.

While police were there, the SUV passed by the house and then sped off.

It led to this, the end of the chase and the beginning of the larger investigation.

Anderson Cooper, CNN San Bernardino.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

STOUT: All right. Markets around the world have been waiting for this. The key U.S. jobs report for November has just been released. The U.S.

economy added 211,000 jobs in November with the unemployment rate unchanged at five percent. That is more than economists have predicted.

In fact, the CNNMoney survey showed that economist expected arise of 192,000 jobs. This is the last big economic event before the big meeting,

before the U.S. Federal Reserve decides whether to raise its key interest rate for the first time in almost 10 years. We'll have more in the jobs

report in World Business Today. That's happening in less than half an hour from now.

Now, in the race for the White House, the frontrunner, Donald Trump, is widening his lead among his Republican peers. A new CNN ORC opinion poll

shows that Trump has made a huge lead with 36 percent of support among registered Republicans and right-leaning independents. That is his highest

number yet. It is also full 20 points ahead of his closest competition, Senator Ted Cruz. You're watching "News Stream".

Still to come, a city under water. Rescue workers try to get to the thousands of people stranded by floods in Chennai. We'll have an update,

next.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

STOUT: Do you remember that China market meltdown earlier this year? Well, China is hoping to put an end to sudden crashes in its stock markets

by adding so-called circuit breakers to the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges.

Now, starting January 1, when the main Chinese share index rises or falls by five percent trading, will be paused for 15 minutes. And if there is a

move of seven percent, trading will stop for the rest of the day.

Well, this is to end what we saw this summer when Chinese markets plunged by more than seven percent in a day. And the span of about three weeks,

the Shanghai composite lost more than 30 percent.

Now, at least 120,000 people have been rescued from the floods that have covered parts of Southern India. But almost 300 people have died and

thousands more need help. The high water has closed the airport and hundreds of passengers are stranded, and the floods followed an unusually

severe monsoon and the rain is far from over.

Sumnima Udas has more.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SUMNIMA UDAS, CNN International Correspondent: This is what Chennai's new international airport look like after Tuesday's historic downpour.

Temporarily shut down, all flights canceled

[08:20:00]

These are the scenes from the streets of India's fifth largest city, South India's Industrial and Commercial Center, now virtually sinking.

It's been raining nonstop for weeks, but the overnight deluges of some 300 millimeters of rain about a foot in a span of 18 hours has repaved (ph).

Officials say it's the heaviest downpour in over 100 years.

Rivers are overflowing, reservoirs working at full capacity, trains and buses suspended, schools and colleges are close.

The Indian Army, Navy, Air Force and National Disaster Relief teams have been deployed. They say this is still very much a rescue operation. How

many have been impacted? How many evacuated? It's still unclear as residents raised themselves for another few days of torrential rain.

Sumnima Udas, CNN New Delhi.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

STOUT: Chennai is a major city. This is an urban catastrophe for Indian.

For more on the weather and conditions here in Chennai, let us go straight to meteorologist Chad Myers is standing by at the CNN World Weather Center.

Chad.

CHAD MYERS, CNN NEWS WEATHER FORECASTER: Kristie, more rain on the way for the area. And every area, all the way from Chennai down to Sri Lanka will

pick up another couple hundred millimeters of rain on top of what they have already seen.

Now, almost 400 millimeters of rain in Chennai just in the past two days, but that does not even compare to what they picked up in November,1200 mm

of rain in one month

Think about this, the entire year, they should have 1300 millimeters they picked up more than a year's worth of rain now, a years worth of rain just

now in the past 35 days.

It continues to rain. Sri Lanka you are about to get hit very hard with at least 300 millimeters maybe in some spots 500 millimeters of rain. Notice,

this is the area that hit so hard. The heaviest rain is sliding to the south, at least, spreading out a little bit, but there will be showers,

unwelcomed showers over the next seven days every single day in those cities and towns that have seen so much rainfall. It's hard to really look

at these pictures and understand how much water. The river should be right here.

It is all the way across. How would you ever get a plane in or out of this when this is the runway of the airport? Kristie.

STOUT: Incredible imagery. Chad Myers, thank you. And that "News Stream". I'm Kristie Lu Stout. But don't go anywhere, "World Sport" with

Amanda Davis is next.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

[08:25:00]

AMANDA DAVIES: Hello. Welcome along to "World Sport" live from London with me Amanda Davies. Thanks for joining us.

The U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch has warned that there is no way to hide for those in football guilty of corruption and wrong doing.

Sixteen more officials were charged by U.S. prosectors on Thursday on the day that started with two more FIFA vice presidents are arrested in dawn

raids in Zurich. After the arrest of the CONCACAF president, Alfredo Hawit and the CONMEBOL boss, Juan Angel Napout, U.S. prosecutors swept through

the top levels of football in South and Central America indicting saying current Brazil Football Federation Chief Marco Polo Del Nero and his pretty

decisive Ricardo Teixiera amongst others.

The Justice Department said that the new charges bring the total number of people and entities charge to 41. But Lynch warns that the investigations

are not stopping there.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

LORETTA LYNCH, U.S. ATTORNEY GENERAL: The message from this announcement should be clear to every culpable individual who remains in the shadows,

hoping to evade this ongoing investigation. You will not wait us out and you will not escape our focus.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

DAVIES: Two-time Tour de France champion, Chris Froome, has released his physiological data and an attempt to answer those who have questioned

whether or not he has won the yellow jersey as a clean rider.

The team's sky rider has published three sets of data online through the magazine Esquire, the first from 2007, the second from this year's too, the

third from some independent test in August. Froome's VO2 max value, that was the maximum volume of oxygen than an athlete can use, was recorded at

84.6.

The general population has a VO2 max of between 35 and 40, highly-trained athletes in the 50's and 60's. But a number of athletes have been measured

in the 90's including three-time Tour winner Greg LeMond. The full results will be published next week.

But Froome has said "Questions do need to be asked. As long as the questions are fair, I'm happy to answer them. What gets my back up is when

those questions turn into straightforward accusations. I know what I've done to get here."

In football news, the Real Madrid, President Florentino Perez insists the club will fight any sanctions for fielding an ineligible player in the Copa

del Rey.

They could be thrown out to the competition after playing. Denis Cheryshev in the victory over Cadiz on Wednesday night, the winner scored the opening

goal in 3:1 win but should have been suspended.

He was then taken off when Real realized the error, but Perez has said that the Spanish Football Association were to blame because they haven't

informed the club off the back (ph).

Meanwhile Barcelona's Lionel Messi has received a personal invitation from Steph Curry to go and see the Golden State Warriors in action.

Messi reach 30 million Instagram followers on Thursday and celebrated by posting a snap of the shot he wore on his debut for Barcelona, which by

coincidence was the number 30.

Curry has said before that he's a huge fan of the Argentina star and he took the social media to issue this invite.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

STEPHEN CURRY: Man, I can't believe you hit 30 million followers on Instagram, Lio, that's incredible. We've got to get you out to a Dubs game

sooner than later to help you celebrate. But in the meantime, I had to get you this number 30 jersey to celebrate all your followers.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

DAVIES: Well, Curry has got some way to go to get to the 30 million. He's got six million Instagram followers at the moment. He's one of the hosts

of NBA's stars though, whose appeal does spread to all corners of the globe and that's why the Sports Global Games continue. They played in 48 cities

and 20 countries outside the U.S. and Canada so far.

Seven games are being played this season across the world. And the first of the two regular season games took place on Thursday in Mexico City.

[08:30:00]

More than 18,000 fans turned out to see the Boston Celtics and Sacramento Kings at the Mexico City Arena.

There's a rough reunion though with his former teammates for ex-Celtic god, Rajon Rondo, who was ejected mid-way through the third rounds of the second

technical foul. That is why Thomas tormented his former team. He's going 21 points as the Celtics beat the Kings at 114 points to 97. That's the

Celtics fourth win in their last five games.

And the final game on the NBA's global tour this session takes place right here in London. The Auto Arena will host the game between the Toronto

Raptors and Orlando Magic next month on January the 14th.

An old name will be making a reappearance on the Formula One grid next session. Find out who after the break.

But Team Mercedes keep the momentum going. I've been asking the important questions over a spot of breakfast with Niki Lauda.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

AMANDA DAVIES, CNN NEWS SPORTS PRESENTER: Welcome back. Renault will be back in Formula One next season as a constructor after finalizing their

takeover of the Lotus.

Despite concerns, just last weekend that the deal wouldn't be done, the principle contracts were signed on Thursday. So, Renault Team will be back

on the grid for the first time since 2010.

But the latest series improvement in the engines to compete with the might of Mercedes, I coach up with the championship winning team, Chairman Niki

Lauda in Austria to get his take on the season network (ph).

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

NIKI LAUDA, FORMER FORMULA ONE DRIVER: I was the guiltiest well-trained what to eat and be fit in all this kind of thing through trials that I have

to do too. This is a normal breakfast, egg, hot-boiled, and what is it before the -

DAVIES: Ready-pilled.

LAUDA: Ready-pilled. So, it's easier to eat. And yogurt is always healthy, you will see. And this is what I'm having.

DAVIES: And so, Mercedes, up to the high of last season, is it as exciting this year as last year?

LAUDA: For me, yes. We have more competition this year, which is logic because everybody is catching up, mainly from Ferrari and Vettel, and

they're really pushing us, which is good because the team needs to be pushed and I need to be pushed to always stay ahead.

DAVIES: How much of a surprise has it been to Mercedes?

[08:35:00]

How much a jump Ferrari had made?

LAUDA: It was a surprise but I'm always wanting on that because there was a development through the year allowed someday (ph), which was not the rule

before. So you can catch up a new engine which is coming with more profit. And Ferrari made a big step in Monza with their fourth engine and I say now

they have the same power as we have.

So now, it depends only how could you catch and because it's always the combination of car and tires and engine. And therefore now, we have to be

careful because (inaudible) if the Ferrari car is better in this circuit, it blows off and they did.

DAVIES: In terms of the other drivers on the grid, if you could choose one of them to be driving you're your team, what should it be?

LAUDA: This is absolutely Lewis, number one guy, quickest guy.

DAVIES: Aside from your driving.

LAUDA: Yes, I have to say he's the best, Sebastian Vettel, very quick. And there is till Alonso, he is the well-experienced quick guy. Then you

have Ricciardo and Kvyat. So, I would say they are the top five senior ranking of tools retains (ph) tends different between their speed.

DAVIES: So, why does that leave Nico?

LAUDA: Alonso and Nico is about the same level. But the problem with Nico is that Lewis so much quicker from last year to this year. And Nico is

fighting to catch it. So, this is a normal development if you want to stay in sport, like Formula One on top. You always have to be better the

following year.

DAVIES: Choosing Nico would therefore benefit from moving to a different team?

LAUDA: He cannot move to a different team because he's on the contract and it is stupid for him to move to a different team, because which team is as

a good as the Mercedes team? So, if you move somewhere else, you might have a less competitive teammate, but then it will be 56 to 70.

DAVIES: Would you like to be driving now?

LAUDA: Sure. That would make 10 times more money than in the office. And there would be absolutely safe. To this one car (ph) is easy to drive that

have narrow tiles, dynamic helps (ph).

DAVIES: But is that right?

LAUDA: Wrong. Therefore something has to be done. Therefore, 17 new cars will come, more difficult to drive. They should be five seconds quicker

than the exiting ones. And the drivers should be alone in charge of driving the cars, no more information from the (inaudible). And safety is

important but the cars have to be more difficult to drive.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

DAVIES: A great insight from a great driver. That was Niki Lauda. But that's it for me and the team for this edition of World Sport. I'm Amanda

Davies in London. Thanks for watching and see you next time. Good bye.
