Tour Bus Crashes in New Jersey

JOIE CHEN, CNN ANCHOR: We have been telling you a bit about an accident in New Jersey. The late developments and what we are hearing from the Associated Press, incident occurred in Berkeley Township in New Jersey. The early reports were that there was a bus leaving Atlantic City. There were 35 to 40 people on board this bus.

We are not sure of the intended destination at this point and we are not sure how many people were injured or how seriously they were injured. We want to get the late information now. We have on the telephone line with us a Mr. Hagerty.

JOHN HAGERTY, NEW JERSEY STATE POLICE: Yes, it is John Hagerty, New Jersey State Police.

CHEN: Mr. Hagerty, thank you very much for being with us. What can you tell us about this incident?

HAGERTY: State police here in New Jersey continue to investigate an overturned northbound bus that we believe was emanating from Atlantic City, New Jersey, as indicated. We believe some 35 to 40 passengers were on that bus. It has overturned. We do not believe it was involved with any other type of vehicle, and we are tending to minor injuries at this point.

CHEN: Mr. Hagerty, do you know anything about where the intended destination of this bus was?

HAGERTY: I do not know at this time.

CHEN: I know a lot people travel to Atlantic City by bus from a lot of your neighboring states in fact.

HAGERTY: You have what I have as information at this point. Thank you very much, I do have to run.

CHEN: Thank you, John Hagerty of the New Jersey State Police was on the telephone line with us. You can see these pictures coming to us from our affiliate WCBS. We are obviously having a little bit of difficulty getting very much information about this. This happened just a short time ago. Take a look at the picture again that we got just a few moments ago here. It is the bus overturned. Mr. Hagerty from the state police in New Jersey, says it wasn't clear but there was no indication that there was any other vehicles involved. The earlier reports are that there were 35 to 40 people onboard. There's some report of injury but the extent of the injuries isn't known. The bus, as we know it right now, was leaving Atlantic City and was overturned on the Garden State Parkway in New Jersey. Again, CNN continuing to follow up.
