DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: Breaking news that's happening in southern California right now. This is in Santa Clarita, California, inland from Los Angeles.
We're getting word of a deputy who has been shot, and some kind of action with a number of officials storming that white pickup truck right there. These pictures coming to us courtesy of KTTV. Information very sparse at this point.
LEON HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: Daryn, can you tell from those uniforms what kind of police those are?
KAGAN: I don't know if it's just the s.w.a.t. team uniform, or what kind of police organization that would be that's responding to that. It looked like they were getting on that white pickup truck to be transported some place else.
Once again, this is in Santa Clarita, California, just outside of Los Angeles, word of a deputy being shot. All right, we are going to go gather some more information, get back to it and take a quick break. We'll be back after this.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HARRIS: You're looking at a live picture that we're getting in from out affiliate KTTV from southern California. This scene is in Santa Clarita, California. The extent of what we know at this point is that a deputy has been shot.
Now, you are seeing there on your left side of the screen, lower left there -- now it's in the center because of the helicopter shot hovering there -- the white pickup truck carrying a lot of troops or personnel, and dressed up in what looks like green s.w.a.t. gear, or national guardsman outfits, or whatever. We don't know exactly where they are, where they're headed to, but we did see them come out of a helicopter and jump into this white vehicle.
They are now making their way into what apparently is -- what may be a crime scene of some kind, perhaps the site where this deputy has been shot. A lot of personnel and a lot of material out there. We've seen a couple of emergency vehicles, and one fire truck there, a number of squad cars. You can see there's no traffic, so obviously they've got roadblocks up all over the place too. We just don't know where they're heading. KAGAN: Now, we'll continue to track that story.
We're also tracking a story out the Bronx, where we're standing by, waiting to hear the baby Bronx Bombers are going to come out and have a news conference. That, in light of officials in the Dominican Republic coming out and saying that indeed the Little League pitcher Danny Almonte they believe is 14 years old.
Covering two stories at once. Listening to that, and watching these pictures as these law enforcement officers get out of the back of that white pickup truck. Headed somewhere.
We're watching this one, folks, right along with you. We're trying to learn. The picture's coming to us from KTTV. The information is sparse at this point.
HARRIS: That's one way to put it. I don't know if they've got a standoff going on there, and perhaps that's the reason why they've got all these people coming.
I can't speculate, and don't want to.
KAGAN: Yes, and it certainly doesn't look that tense at the way they're walking there.
HARRIS: Well, they could just be easing their way in. I don't know. We'll never know unless we can get a hold of someone who's there on the scene. I wish we could.
KAGAN: Can we listen into KTTV's coverage? Are they doing that right now?
HARRIS: This is just a helicopter shot with no...?
KAGAN: OK, we just have the pictures.
HARRIS: No reporter audio?
KAGAN: Yes, let's -- we're going to break away from this story for a bit, be responsible and get some information before we go further with that.
