JEANNE MESERVE, CNN ANCHOR: Taliban officials saying this morning that they know the whereabouts of Osama bin Laden and that they have him under their control. For White House reaction, let's turn to Major Garrett near Camp David -- Major.

MAJOR GARRETT, CNN WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENT: Good morning, Jeanne. The White House is aware of this new report. I just got off the phone with an administration official who tells CNN the following: "We've made clear what needs to be done with him and it's time for them" -- meaning the Taliban -- "to act," said this official.

"Like we've said," again, quoting this official, "it's not time for negotiations. There is ample proof that Osama bin Laden and the al Qaeda network were behind previous acts of terrorism and every indication is that they were responsible for the terrorist acts of September 11."

Again, quoting this administration people, "The last people who need proof of Osama bin Laden and the al Qaeda networks role in global terrorism is the Taliban. They know full well."

The administration sticking to its position that the Taliban must hand over Osama bin Laden, all of his al Qaeda network associates, any other terrorists in Afghanistan, and shut down those terrorist camps -- Jeanne.

MESERVE: Major Garrett near Camp David. Thank you.
