Suicide Bomber Kills 10 in Israel; Al-Amin Convicted of Murder

FREDRICKA WHITFIELD, CNN ANCHOR: I'm Fredricka Whitfield at the CNN headquarters in Atlanta. Want to update you on the violence in the Middle East. In Israel, there officials are responding to two attacks there, violent attacks in separate locations. One in Jerusalem at a cafe there, where dozens of people were injured, 10 people so far have been killed there; and then, further north in the town of Netanya. There, three suspected gunmen opened fire injuring dozens more there. One person is killed.

In all, with a violence there in Israel, at least 85 people injured, 11 people killed.

Right now, we do have a response from the White House, which is offering, quote, "Our condolences go out to the families of the victims of the most recent violence. The day's events underscore the importance of General Zinni's mission and the need for both sides to heed the president's words on Thursday."

A special envoy, Anthony Zinni, is heading to the Middle East this week to try to get some talks going between the Palestinians as well as the Israelis, as well as Vice President Dick Cheney will be beginning his 10-nation tour of the Middle East.

Also, another breaking story at this hour: Jamil Abdulla Al-Amin, who was known as H. Rap Brown, has been convicted now in Atlanta, being found guilty on four charge -- found guilty of four charges of murder, killing a deputy sheriff and wounding other officer as they were trying to serve an arrest warrant on him two years ago there.
