Jury Reaches Verdict in Last Count of Dog Mauling Trial

BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: Developing news out Los Angeles. Getting word right now the jury in that dog mauling trial have reached a verdict now. The jury has reached a verdict. You might remember late yesterday, the jurors had returned a verdict, a decision on four of five counts. Still deliberating one more count. What count that is, we don't know.

Marjorie Knoller, 46 years old, charged with the most serious crime of second-degree murder. She faces two other counts, including involuntary manslaughter and owning a mischievous animal.

Her husband, Robert Noel, 60 years old, also faces the two latter charges, and certainly this has been a case that has taken on a lot of attention, going back to January of last year when 33-year-old Diane Whipple was mauled to death outside of her apartment in the Pacific Heights section of San Francisco. A popular lacrosse coach, we are told by her friends, Diane Whipple died that day on her doorstep. We will get a verdict from the jurors again, once again, four hours from now, 4:30 Eastern time, 1:30 on the West Coast in L.A..
