BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: All right. Another pipe boun -- pipe bomb, rather, has been discovered in Amarillo, Texas.
Kelli Arena tracking this story. There is news now about the possibility of a suspect coming forward or at least being tracked by authorities -- Kelli, what do you know?
KELLI ARENA, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well that's right, Bill. Law enforcement has issued a be on the alert for a man named Luke John Helder. He is 22-years-old. He is white. He is said to be driving a dark gray or a black 1992 four-door Honda Accord with Minnesota license plate number EZL 783. He is described as armed and dangerous. He is a suspect. He has not been charged with anything at this point.
One law enforcement official says that based on investigative information to date, he is somebody that law enforcement has a very strong interest in talking to and interviewing at this time. I say, again, he has not been charged but this is the first time that an alert has gone out naming a suspect and citizens are told to be on the lookout -- Bill.
HEMMER: Kelli, any information as to what tipped them off about this man?
ARENA: We do not have that at this time. But we do know that investigators were looking at the devices themselves. I was told earlier by an official that they were gleaning some information from the devices and from forensic evidence found at each of the mailbox sites where the pipe bombs were left. And we're also told that there were several interviews that had been done along the way as they tracked the case from Iowa to Illinois all the way now to Texas. And so I am assuming that from all of that information, they were able to glean something.
But no one is saying for sure. All they're saying is we are interested at this time in talking to, the we being law enforcement, are interested in talking to him. And again, he has not been charged.
HEMMER: And Kelli, often times law enforcement will have a list of suspects, a list of people that they essentially tracked based on previous run ins or experiences. Was this a man who was on that list do we know?
ARENA: I do not know Bill. HEMMER: No. OK. All right, Kelli Arena there live in Washington. There is a whole lot we do not know, but certainly, Kelli we want to cut you loose so that you can able -- be better able to go ahead and track things down.
Luke John Helder, is the man's name, 22-years-old, is that right?
ARENA: That's right. Twenty-two, white, dark hair, blue eyes, I'm told.
HEMMER: OK. Honda Accord with Minnesota license ...
ARENA: Green eyes, I'm sorry, Bill. Green eyes.
HEMMER: Green eyes.
ARENA: I don't want to put out any inconsistent information.
HEMMER: Got it. Thank you Kelli. Come back when we get more, OK?
ARENA: You got it.
HEMMER: Much appreciated. Kelli Arena there working that story in Washington D.C.
