THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED. PAULA ZAHN, CNN ANCHOR: We have some exclusive information out of the Pentagon.
We're going to go straight there, where our Barbara Starr is standing by -- good morning, Barbara.
BARBARA STARR, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Good morning, Paula.
Well, we are getting word here now that U.S. forces have been involved in another firefight in Afghanistan overnight.
We are told that a group of U.S. and coalition forces raided a compound west of Kandahar. About 50 to 100 U.S. and coalition forces involved. No casualties on the U.S. side, but we are told that they captured a large number of prisoners, perhaps as many as 40 suspected Taliban or al Qaeda troops.
The target that they raided is being characterized as a Taliban or al Qaeda command and control center.
We expect to hear more about this raid later today, when Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld appears in the briefing room here in the Pentagon.
ZAHN: All right, Barbara, thanks so much. We'll come back to you as soon as you have more details available.
