CATHERINE CALLAWAY, CNN ANCHOR: We want to bring you up to date on a story that we've been following. Some good news tonight that two Wyoming hikers that have been missing since Tuesday have now been found. They were discovered about four miles south of the Colorado Wyoming border. And joining me on the phone now is Sergeant Mike Morris. He's with the Carbon County, Wyoming Sheriff's Department. Sergeant, terrific news that they have been found. What condition are they in?
MIKE MORRIS, SERGEANT, CARBON COUNTY WYOMING SHERIFF'S DEPT.: We've been told that they're in good condition. They were examined by an ambulance crew and a doctor at the scene and then were released.
CALLAWAY: And understand it's a 45-year old woman with her 11- year old daughter. Is that right?
MORRIS: That's correct.
CALLAWAY: And tell us what happened now? We understand that they were hiking and became disoriented?
MORRIS: Well, when they were hiking along the encampment river trail. And they ended up going, basically, the wrong way. And they walked south into Colorado instead of north to where their vehicle had been left.
CALLAWAY: We understand that they were walking through two feet of snow and just terrific conditions there?
MORRIS: That's correct.
CALLAWAY: Can you tell me more about what they incurred, what happened to them during this time? What kind of conditions they were battling?
MORRIS: Well, fortunately, the weather in this area, it's been warmer than normal. And it's been dry. It was a great benefit to us in the search and it helped them.
CALLAWAY: How many people did you have taking part in this search? It's been going on for so many days now?
MORRIS: I don't have exact numbers in front of me, but it's literally been dozens. CALLAWAY: And how were they found? Can you tell us what happened? I know that they climbed a peak trying to get their bearings on exactly where they were, but who found them? What happened?
MORRIS: Forest service employees, law enforcement officer, Elida Walker (ph) and a volunteer by the name of Diane Holycross (ph) were horseback in that area, searching an area that we had searched before. And the two hikers had come across the trail and then horse service rode and the workers on horseback contacted them.
CALLAWAY: Well, that's terrific news. I understand they haven't eaten since Tuesday. Where are they now? Have they been taken to a hospital?
MORRIS: No, they were not admitted to any hospitals. They were released. And it's my understanding one of the first things they were going to do is get something to eat.
CALLAWAY: Good. I hope they're eating a big fat meal right now. All right, great work out there. Mike Morris, Sergeant Mike Morris with the Carbon County Wyoming Sheriff's Department and very good news tonight that the two hikers that have been missing for so many days now, missing since Tuesday, Wyoming hikers have been found. They're in fairly good condition, just extremely hungry.
