THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED. BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: Developing news this morning out of the Middle East. Just moments ago, Yasser Arafat has said that he will run for reelection. Earlier today, Saeb Erakat, the chief Palestinian negotiator, had said that those elections would take place in January of next year, possibly between January 10 and January 20.
And all this coming right now just two days after President Bush made his rather emphatic speech at the White House demanding new leadership for the Palestinian people.
Something to track. But Yasser Arafat says his hat will still be in the ring come election time if, indeed, they take place in January or sometime before that.
