PAULA ZAHN, CNN ANCHOR: For those of you just joining us, breaking news out of the Middle East. It has been confirmed that a Palestinian gunman has opened fire on a bus load of Israelis, wounding at least 25 of them, five of them seriously. There are conflicting reports at this point as to whether there have been any deaths. One news reporting service saying yes. As soon as we can sort that out, we will let you know, just to give you some context.
This is considered one of the most serious attacks on Israelis since the Israeli military reoccupied seven Palestinian cities in the West Bank. That happened, of course, last month, after 26 people were killed in back to back Palestinian suicide bombings in Jerusalem.
Here is what we can tell you. This shooting spree took place in a settlement called Emmanuel. You can't see it on the map, but it is halfway between Nablus and Ramallah.
Once again, it has been confirmed that at least 25 Israeli have been wounded, five of them seriously. Now the Israeli Defense Forces are confirming these reports, as well.
As soon as we can add to these initial reports, we'll bring them to you live.
