BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: Breaking news out of southern California this morning. Word coming in to us just now as the dawn begins to break there in California. Apparently a 9-year-old boy had been abducted inside of his home, Palm Desert, California, about two hours east of Los Angeles.
What we know right now, the child's name, Nicholas Farber, apparently taken from inside his home at 2:00 a.m. Pacific Time, which would have been about three and a half hours ago here on the East Coast.
According to the report, authorities are saying that two men forced their way into the home, assaulted the father before leaving with the 9-year-old boy in a white SUV identified as a GMC Yukon.
Nicholas described as 4' tall, 5" and about 55 pounds, brown hair, his description continues, blonde highlights, wearing Fruit of the Loom underwear. Literally taken from inside of his home and apparently from his bedroom.
Again, 2:00 a.m. Pacific Time on the West Coast, the middle of the night. That's the word we have right now is two men forced entry into the home in Palm Desert. Authorities on the lookout right now for a GMC Yukon. The father of the boy, Nicholas, apparently beaten, assaulted anyway, in that abduction earlier today.
We'll track it for you and let you know as we get more again out of Palm Desert, California.
