KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: Another bold, middle-of-the-night kidnapping in California. It happened about seven hours ago at this home in Palm Desert. Police say two men stormed this house, beat up the father, and snatched 9-year-old Nicholas Michael Farber. They were last seen in a white GMC Yukon.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
JOHN KAISER, RIVERSIDE COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPT.: The sheriff's department put out our own local "Amber Alert," and basically contacting all of our local agencies and putting it out. We then followed, sending through information again, like I said, through the EDIS, which is E-D-I-S, Emergency Digital Information System, to the California Highway Patrol, requesting that a statewide "Amber Alert" be put out.
My understanding is right now, he is at a location speaking with sheriff investigators at this time. Hopefully, we can give more information, again, to hopefully bring home the child safely.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Was there anyone else in the house, and where is the mother?
KAISER: My understanding is, I believe that it was just the father and son alone in the house. As to the whereabouts of the mother, that is unknown.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
PHILLIPS: Nicholas is described as having brown hair with blond highlights. He is just under 4-and-a-half feet tall and weighs 55 pounds. Nicholas was taken from his home wearing only his underwear.
