One Buffalo Terror Suspect Granted Bail

ARTHEL NEVILLE, CNN HOST: But first, this breaking news.
A bond hearing was held for the six Buffalo area men charged with supporting al Qaeda and there has been a decision.
CNN's Jeff Flock has the latest on that story -- Jeff.
JEFF FLOCK, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Indeed, Arthel, I have it in my hand. I just obtained a copy of what is a 35-page decision with several adendums. And the headline is this: Bond for one, only one of the six defendants. That is Alwan. He's the man who left the al Qaeda training camp early. The other five defendants stayed at the al Qaeda camp and remained for the full trading. Mr. Alwan testified that he made attempts to leave and eventually was able to leave. He's the only one that has been given bond.
But get a load of some of these conditions: $600,000 bond for one. He must be confined to Eerie county. He must surrender his passport, which I suppose is no surprise, must have no contact with firearms or destructive devices.
But here's where it gets interesting: he must submit to electronic monitoring, Arthel, including use of a GPS, that's a global positioning device that will keep track of all of his movements.
He must not have a cellphone, a fax, a pager or any access to computers. He will be allowed two phone lines in his home, one of those will be a monitored line. The second will be unmonitored but will be for use only for discussions with his attorney. So extraordinary, Arthel, restrictions on this bond and we expect that it is going to be at least days, if not weeks, before he is able to, you know, get this whole program together so, in fact, he may be released.
So, this man is not going anywhere soon. But eventually, apparently, is going to get out on bond -- Arthel.
NEVILLE: OK, Jeff. I'm not sure if you told us, what about the other five?
FLOCK: All of the others, Goba (ph), Mosed (ph), Taher (ph), Galab (ph), all -- and al Bakri -- all of them will remain in federal custody pending their trials.
The judge put it, "They have not satisfied me with any presentation of evidence that they are not a flight risk and that they are not a danger to the community." So they remain locked up.
