Attack Reported in Northern Israel

BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: Carol, in the meantime, trying to piece together this story coming to us out of Israel right now.
Mike Hanna is up in Jerusalem right now who can help take us through it.
Mike, what are you hearing right now about these incidents involving shots fired in the northern part of the country and elsewhere -- Mike?
MIKE HANNA, CNN JERUSALEM BUREAU CHIEF: Well, Bill, over the last few minutes we've been receiving reports of gunfire erupting in northern Israel in the town of Beet Shean. Initial reports from police sources in the town say that a number of Palestinian gunmen opened fire on people in that town near the central bus station. One police source has told us that at least three Palestinian gunmen were killed by police on the scene. Saying, too, that one of the gunmen had an explosive belt attached to his body. Other reports indicating that there are a number of other casualties, a number of wounded in this attack.
Still sketchy details coming in at present, but we do know that there has been an eruption of gunfire in the town of Beit Shean, that's at least three Palestinian gunmen, according to Israeli police sources, have been shot and killed after they opened fire on a crowd at a central bus station in Beit Shean. There are a number of casualties. We're waiting for further details on this -- Bill.

While this happens now, just want to update you on what we're happening out of Kenya earlier today. If you're just joining us, apparently simultaneous attacks earlier today directed at Israelis, one involving a passenger airliner taking off from Mombasa headed back to Tel Aviv. Apparently two missiles fired at that plane. They missed the plane. About five-and-a-half hours later, all 261 people on board did land and arrive safely in Tel Aviv.
Five minutes after the contrails of those missiles were spotted by the pilot, at a local hotel with a number of Israeli tourists checking in at the time, three suicide bombers launched their attack by car and by foot killing, we are told, 13 people, including 8 Kenyans and 3 Israelis. And of the Israeli dead count, at least two were small children age of eight. We're watching it all.
