Kuwait Rejects Iraqi Apology

KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: As you may have tuned in earlier this morning, we ran live a statement from Iraq, the information minister reading a statement from Saddam Hussein apologizing to Kuwaitis for the invasion back in 1991.
Well, we are told now, this comes to us from Reuters, there has been a response from Kuwait's parliament speaker, dismissing that apology as meaningless, saying that that apology by Iraqi president, Saddam Hussein, does not hold true to them, that they believe he is not apologetic for the occupation of Kuwait back in 1990 and '91. He says Kuwait does not give any weight to the speech. It considers it a desperate attempt to stir up dissent between its leadership and people.
Once again, Kuwaiti parliament speaker dismissing the apology from President Saddam Hussein for invading Kuwait back in 1990.
