KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: Breaking news out of Bakersfield, California now. We're told that police are searching for a man, a vice principle of an elementary school in Bakersfield, possibly a suspect in the shooting deaths of five people.
On the phone with us Mary DeGeare, Bakersfield Police Department. She is detective there in Bakersfield. Detective, what can you tell us about the hunt for this man, if, indeed, he is related possibly to this woman that was shot and these children?

MARY DEGEARE, BAKERSFIELD POLICE: Well we're pretty sure that he's the father of the two children. The infant, we're not sure whether or not he's the father at this point. And at this point, he is a likely suspect. We want to find him. We want to determine whether he's responsible or whether we need to eliminate him completely as a suspect.

PHILLIPS: Tell us how you got this information, how you were notified about the five found dead.

DEGEARE: Well, they hadn't been seen for a couple of days and one of her friends went over to check on them just before 7:00 this morning. The house was open. She went in and saw four of them obviously deceased all victims of gunshot wounds. And we did a secondary search a little while later and found the infant who was shot, as well.

PHILLIPS: And we under you're looking for Vincent Brothers, age 41, vice principal of Fremont (ph) Elementary School. What can you tell us about this man? Do you believe that he has left the area? Is he still in the area?

DEGEARE: Well we looked at all the places that he should be and we have not been able to locate him. So you know it's just a matter of finding him and making a determination as to whether he is responsible.

PHILLIPS: And once again, you were called to the home this morning about 7:00 a.m. in the morning. And you did come across the woman and her children. How quickly was this connection made?

DEGEARE: Pretty quickly. The information that we received from her friend, you know, indicated that she did have this on and off relationship with him. We haven't been able to locate him in the places he's supposed to be so it's very suspicious. So he is primarily who we're looking for. We haven't ruled out other suspects but he's the one we need to talk to first.

PHILLIPS: Where would you like people to call if anyone knows the whereabouts of Vincent Brothers 41, vice principal of Fremont Elementary School there in Bakersfield?

DEGEARE: Call the police department at 661-327-7111.

PHILLIPS: All right, Mary DeGeare, a detective with Bakersfield Police. Once again, if anyone does know the whereabouts of the 41- year-old Vincent Brothers, the vice principal of Fremont Elementary School in Bakersfield, California, he is obviously wanted by the Bakersfield Police.
