Crude Prankster Calls in During Hostage Situation in Tennessee

KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: More now on that hostage situation we've been telling you about at Dyersburg Community College just outside of Memphis, Tennessee. Pictures coming to us via WMC, our affiliate there.
On the phone with me now, Lisa McDowell (ph) from the Dyersburg Police. Lisa, can you just bring us up to date on what you know at this point?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes, well it appears that a teacher has taken students hostage here, and he is carrying a gun.

PHILLIPS: A teacher is holding the students hostage?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes. He was angry at Howard Stern's (text deleted).

PHILLIPS: Oh, great. Well, that was obviously -- we got hosed there by a crank caller. We apologize to our viewers for such a crude individual in a very serious situation.

We are continuing to follow this story. It's a hostage situation under way at a college in Western Tennessee. We can tell you right now that the SWAT team has responded, and so far three students have been released. The hostage-taker is not negotiating with the SWAT team, but they are attempting to do so at this time.

We'll follow the story. We'll go back to INSIDE POLITICS.
