KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: We're take you live back out to California. What can I say? We're vultures. Those are all reporters scrambling to get copies of the charges filed against Michael Jackson, obviously you can see the police trying to keep the peace. It looks pretty calm.
Our Frank Buckley actually in the crowd there. I am told he got a copy of the charges that have just been filed against Michael Jackson. Frank, as you're sort of looking through the charges there, I know this is all happening by the second, this is your first look at them. Anything you want to, I guess, start reading?
FRANK BUCKLEY, CNN NATIONAL CORRESPONDENT: Yes, Kyra, what we've got -- let's just go through first and tell you the main points and that is that there are nine counts in this felony complaint.
And Jeffrey was talking just a moment ago about some of the more, other important aspects, and that is the time frame during which these alleged crimes took place. It appears as though we're looking at on or between February 7, 2003, and March 10, 2003 in the county of Santa Barbara, the crime of lewd act upon a child in violation of 288a, which is the felony that Tom Sneddon talked about in his press conference several weeks ago. In fact, that is what has been filed.
Count two, also a lewd act upon a child, same time period. Count three, also lewd act upon a child, same time period. That is February 7, 2003, through March 10, 2003.
I'll just go through these counts. Count four, on or between, again February 7 through March 10, 2003, lewd act upon a child. Count five, same time period, same allegation, 288a, lewd act upon a child. Count six, also, February 20 through -- this is February 20, a different date, through March 10, lewd act upon a child. Count 7, also, February 20 through March 10, lewd act upon a child. It does not name the child in any of these.
We can go now to count eight. This is different. Between February 20 and March 10, there is the crime of administering intoxicating agent in violation of penal code section 222, a felony, who did unlawfully administer to the -- and they're identifying the child as John Doe -- an intoxicating agent with intent thereby to enable and assist himself to commit a felony to wit child molestation, which is 288a.
Count nine, finally, on or between February 20, 2003, and March 10, 2003, again, administering the intoxicating agent, allegedly committed by Michael Joe Jackson according to this.
So, again, we have nine counts. And the time period essentially February 7 or February 20 through March 10 of 2003. And according to this, it appears as though we're talking about one victim, one alleged victim.
And as you know, Kyra, we have reported that the alleged victim in this case is a 12-year-old boy who is now 14, 12 at the time of the alleged crime who is a boy who appeared in the Martin Bashir documentary -- Kyra.
PHILLIPS: All right, out Frank Buckley with the breaking news there out of California. Nine counts. Those are formal charges filed against pop star Michael Jackson from lewd act to intoxicating agent.
We're going to ask you to stand by, Frank, and also Christopher Darden in our L.A. bureau. We're going to get back to you in a minute.
