Member of U.S. Special Operations Team Rescued in Afghanistan

TONY HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: Let's send you to Pentagon correspondent Jamie McIntyre now, who is following breaking news -- Jamie.
JAMIE MCINTYRE, CNN SR. PENTAGON CORRESPONDENT: Learned that one member of the U.S. Special Operations reconnaissance team missing for four days in Afghanistan has been rescued by U.S. troops. It happened late Saturday in Afghanistan. The U.S. official, speaking on condition of anonymity, is telling CNN a Special Operations member, quote, "evaded the enemy and has been successfully rescued by U.S. forces."

No other details are being released, because the search for other missing members of the Special Operations reconnaissance team is still ongoing. The official said that team, of course, has been missing in Afghanistan since Tuesday, when a Special Operations helicopter sent to extract them was apparently shot down by a rocket-propelled grenade.

The U.S. is using hundreds of soldiers and search assets overhead as well to look for the missing.

Again, there are still some members of that team unaccounted for. The exact number and description of the team is being withheld so as not to jeopardize the operation, but we can report that as of this morning, one of the members of that Special Operations reconnaissance team is back safe in the hands of U.S. forces. His condition has not been described, but we're told that he is in good shape -- Tony.
