DONNA KELLEY, CNN ANCHOR: Two months ago, she was a Washington intern preparing to return to California to graduate from college. Today, new developments in the search for Chandra Levy, and more questions about her relationship with California Congressman Gary Condit. CNN's Martin Savidge is in Modesto, California, Condit's home district, and Levy's hometown -- Marty.

MARTIN SAVIDGE, CNN NATIONAL CORRESPONDENT: Well, Donna, as the search continues, Washington, D.C. police telling CNN that they are seeking to get the telephone records, the cellar telephone records of both the Washington intern Chandra Levy and also from Gary Condit the congressman with whom there has been some speculation of a relationship.

Now, the Washington, D.C., police say they are going through a grand jury and they warn not make too much out of that. That is standard operating procedure and the law of the land in the District of Colombia to use the subpoena powers of a grand jury. In addition, authorities there say they would also like to get the medical records of Chandra Levy.

Police in Washington say they also expect to request a third interview with Congressman Gary Condit focusing on his relationship with the former Federal Bureau of Prisons intern who Condit has called a good friend. Yesterday Chandra Levy's aunt, Linda Zamsky, came forward saying before she disappeared, Chandra confided to her that she and the congressman were having an affair. That is something that Condit and his aides have strongly denied.

A press release yesterday from a hired public relations firm for the congressman said that he is continuing to cooperate fully with police and it also strongly criticized what it called a media frenzy over this story. And police have revealed that they really didn't gain a lot of insight into the disappearance of that young intern when they conducted an view on Thursday with Carolyn Condit, that is the wife of the congressman.

She was with her husband in Washington, D.C., at or around the time that Chandra Levy disappeared. As for the people back in the congressman's home district here, a little bit of a growing sense of discomfort, especially over the fact that they had not heard publicly from the congressman himself, instead speaking through aides and public relations firms. To give you a snapshot of the area, Modesto is a very agriculture oriented community. It very much has the feel of the Midwest instead of California. It is very conservative, but also very Democratic. The people here still very supportive of the congressman. No one suggesting at this point that he should consider resigning his seat - Donna.
