ANDERSON COOPER, CNN ANCHOR: From several nip-and-tuck Senate races to dozens of governorships up for grabs, Tuesday's election promises plenty of political intrigue. CNN's senior political analyst Bill Schneider joins us now from CNN Center in Atlanta with a look at the top 10 things he will watch come election night -- Bill.
WILLIAM SCHNEIDER, CNN SENIOR POLITICAL ANALYST: That's right, Anderson. David Letterman, eat your heart out. I have my own top 10 list of things to watch for:
10) Senate Seesaw: Will Republicans score the one seat gain they need to take control of the Senate? Ladies and gentlemen, keep a lot of milk and cookies at hand, nothing stronger it's Election Day, because there are a lot of tight races, absentee ballots, recounts. It could go on for quite a while.
9) Oh Brother Where Art Thou? Will President Bush return the favor and deliver Florida for brother Jeb? This is the most watched race in the country. Literally both parties have hundreds of poll watchers in Florida to watch for irregularities.
8) Sympathy Vote: Will the sympathy vote for the late Senator Paul Wellstone put Walter Mondale over in Minnesota?
7) House Party: The balance between Democrats and Republicans of the House of Representatives could get real close, maybe one or two seats. Watch for each party to entice switchers from the other party to change sides.
6) How Low Can it Go? Turnout could reach record lows. In California where neither candidate for governor is popular, it's a race to see which candidate has the less demoralized supporters.
5) Dinosaurs: If Representatives Connie Morella in Maryland and Jim Leach in Iowa lose, liberal Republicans may go from endangered to extinct.
4) The Fall of Camelot: If Kathleen Kennedy Townsend loses the tight race for governor in Maryland, a heavily Democratic state it could be a sign that the Kennedy magic is no more. They've depleted the political gene pool.
3) Hey Big Spender: How high can they go, a billion dollars already spent on ads? House races that cost $3 million, it's getting ridiculous and outrageous. 2) Take the Initiative: Will voters in Florida vote to spend whatever it takes to reduce public school class sizes? Can you smoke a joint without getting arrested in Nevada? The voters will speak on these and other issues on Tuesday.
1) Top Hat and Coattails: President Bush is putting his own political clout on the line with his relentless campaign schedule. We'll see whether his personal popularity helps his party or whether it rallies angry Democrats to come out and vote. That's the list -- Anderson.
COOPER: All right, thanks, Bill, and my top number one thing to do on election day is watch CNN.
SCHNEIDER: OK, sounds good to me.
COOPER: All right, thanks, Bill.
