RENAY SAN MIGUEL, CNN ANCHOR: Americans are voicing their opinions about Iraq this weekend. And they're doing so in gatherings across the country. CNN's David Mattingly is at an event organizers are calling "the Rally for America" here in Atlanta, Georgia -- David.
DAVID MATTINGLY, CNN CORRESPONDENT: The two-hour "Rally for America" that was held here in Atlanta attracted a larger-than- predicted crowd, that according to promoters. The organizers also very confident that they got their point across, that they were giving a voice to people who feel they have not been heard from very much in their support for U.S. troops.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: How sweet is this? How sweet is this? You can hear us reverberating off the buildings! We are sounding ourselves everywhere!

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Let them try to ignore us now!

MATTINGLY (voice-over): The event in Atlanta just the latest in a series of Rallies for America. All of them promoted by talk radio stations across the country. Lots of red, white and blue to be seen here today, and some signs venting frustration over anti-war positions at home and abroad.

Immediately after the rally, we walked out into the crowds and everyone we talked to seemed to just be swelling with pride for their country and for their troops.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It's one thing to speak out against the war. It's another thing to call America the bad guy, you know, bad mouth our president when he is trying to do the best job he can. That's really what we are trying to say.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I hope this goes to our troops. I hope that they feel that they're not isolated out there alone, that there may be people speaking against the war effort, which is fine. They have the right to do that. But that also there are people that support them and support our president.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Best day of my life today.

MATTINGLY (on camera): Why? UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I feel like a better American today. Supporting my troops out there. They need us. And I'm proud to be an American.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

MATTINGLY: And one more rally, just like this one, scheduled now tomorrow for Philadelphia. Back to you.

SAN MIGUEL: David Mattingly in Atlanta, thank you very much.
