HEIDI COLLINS, CNN ANCHOR: Moving on now, former President Gerald Ford is expected to be released from a California hospital later today. He is being treated for a dizzy spell he had on a golf course in some very hot weather. CNN's Thelma Gutierrez is live from Rancho Mirage, California with more of the president's health. Hello to you, Thelma.
THELMA GUTIERREZ, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Hi, there, Heidi. Well, the latest from here is that the former president does remain hospitalized, here in Rancho Mirage at this time.

Now, we just got off of phone with his chief of staff. We were told that he is feeling great. He is doing extremely well, and the good news is that she does expect him to be discharged from the hospital a little bit later today.

Now according to that person, the chief of staff, the 89-year-old former president was brought into the hospital by Secret Service agents yesterday around noon after he complained of dizziness. He was out on the golf course, playing golf in 96-degree heat. He was playing with one other person at the time, and doctors said that yesterday, he was doing quite well. He was feeling great. He was actually talking with them in the emergency room, though he did report feeling a little bit dizzy. Perhaps because of the heat.

Now, he underwent a series of tests. He was released, and he returned to his home in Rancho Mirage and then complained of dizziness again. He was brought back to the hospital and readmitted. His wife Betty Ford, was brought back to the hospital as well to be by her husband's side. Heidi, back to you.

COLLINS: All right, very good. Thelma Gutierrez, live from Rancho Mirage, California. The details on former President Gerald Ford. Thanks so much, Thelma.
