ANDREA KOPPEL, CNN ANCHOR: Golf's greatest test is under way and some of the results are surprising. Let's go live now to Olympia Fields outside of Chicago, where our Josie Karp is standing by -- Josie.
JOSIE KARP, CNN SPORTS CORRESPONDENT: Andrea, the surprise is that this golf course is playing, in a word, pretty "easy." We saw evidence of that the first couple of days. And we're still seeing some evidence of it today.

The leaders are still the same, Jim Furyk, and Vijay Singh. They are both now at nine under par. Now the other surprise today is the play of Tiger Woods.

Mentioned that this is moving day on the golf course, when a player who is going to make a move and try to get back in contention, will do it. Well, Tiger Woods is having an off day today. He's now two over for round three. That means he's two under for the tournament, and seven shots behind the leaders.

And in case you're wondering, the biggest comeback in U.S. Open history, on a final round, is seven strokes. So, if he were to stay right here and start the day tomorrow, he would tie that mark. If it gets any worse for Tiger, he will be looking to make history.

And speaking of history, very briefly, Jim Furyk was at 10 under today. That's just the third time that that has ever happened in U.S. Open history. Of course, Tiger Woods has the record in the U.S. Open for most shots under par, with a win after 72 holes he was twelve under par when he won at Pebble Beach, but it looks like the idea of Tiger Woods repeating and defending the title that he won last year at that stage is getting less and less likely -- Andrea.

KOPPEL: I got another surprise for you, Josie. It's where you are every weekend. You seem to be in a different city every time I talk to you. I hope you're getting frequent flier miles. Josie Karp, thanks so much.
