SEAN CALLEBS, CNN ANCHOR: More now on our top story a Russian rock concert rocked by deadly violence. A pair of suicide bombers reportedly carried out the attack that killed at least 14 concert goers. CNN Moscow bureau chief Jill Dougherty now joins us live with an update -- Jill.
JILL DOUGHERTY, CNN MOSCOW BUREAU CHIEF: Well, Sean, the concert goers are gone, but the police are definitely still here. They are continuing with their investigation of what they are calling a terrorist act carried out by two female suicide bombers. The way they describe it is -- we're just down the street, in fact, from Tushino airfield, and that is where there were approximately 20,000 concert goers inside the area listening to rock music, while outside two women attempting to get in who actually wanted to carry out a suicide attack.
They didn't make it inside. They were stopped at the gate. One of them initially blew up her belt that was carrying explosives. Only part of that one went off, but she still managed to kill three people. And then the other woman went a little farther down, tried to get in, and also detonated her explosives with very deadly force.
The final figure at least at this point is 14 people killed, plus the two suicide bombers, and about 20 people injured.
The immediate reaction, of course, from all of the Russian police and security forces who were on the scene, and we did manage to make it pretty close to the scene, saw two bodies that appeared to be females, both pretty badly burned, and one who would appear to have an explosive device close to her stomach.
We do not know but we suspect because of the attention that the police were paying to those bodies that they were probably what the police say are the suicide bombers.
They do say that they found one passport, a 20-year-old girl with a Chechen name who was born in Chechnya.
That's the fear, of course, that this terrorism, which has actually struck in Chechnya two times in the past month or so, suicide bombers, female suicide bombers now here in Moscow for the first time -- Sean.
CALLEBS: Jill Dougherty live in Moscow. Jill, thanks very much.
