SOPHIA CHOI, CNN ANCHOR: And now to the investigation of missing Baylor University basketball player Patrick Dennehy. Police have found a badly decomposed body near Waco, Texas.
CNN's Mike Brooks is in Waco with the latest word on that discovery - Mike?
MIKE BROOKS, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Good evening, Sophia. Last evening, about 7:50 p.m., sheriffs deputies from Mclennan County made a grisly discovery. Sheriff Larry Lynch of the Sheriff's Department talked about what they found.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
LARRY LYNCH, MCLENNAN COUNTY, TX: This morning at first light, we began a thorough collection of all evidence and examination of the area where the badly decomposed body was found. Around 9:00 a.m. today, I advised Patrick Stanley that an unidentified body was found.
The body has been taken to the Dallas Southwest Forensic Lab, where an autopsy will be performed and identification will be made.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
BROOKS: Patrick Dennehy was expected to be a stand out at Baylor University this year on their basketball team. Just a short time ago, athletic director Tom Statten talked about how the school and the team is coping with today's discovery.
Tom Statten says that they're coping with it and they will rely on prayer to get them through these tough times.
Now it could be a matter of days before an identification is made at the forensics lab, depending on how badly decomposed the body is and what overall condition it could be. So it could be days, Sophia, before we actually know whether this is the body of Patrick Dennehy or not - Sophia?
CHOI: Mike Brooks, thank you so much for keeping an eye on all of that for us. Thanks.
