President Bush Firm In His Resolve Against Terrorism

RENAY SAN MIGUEL, CNN ANCHOR: President Bush pledged, today, there'd be no flinching in the global war on terror. Let's talk now with White House correspondent, Suzanne Malveaux. She's at the Bush ranch in Texas -- Suzanne.
SUZANNE MALVAEUX, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well, President Bush is back in Crawford, Texas, after a two-day excursion in Oregon and Washington state, that's where he was doing some fund raising, as well as, highlighting his environmental agenda, but as you know, of course, Renay, the big story is on his foreign policy. President Bush admitting and even calling on additional help inside of Iraq. The president saying that the administration needs and welcomes additional foreign troops inside of the country.
The president also talking about the fact that the administration is now discussing another U.N. Security Council resolution to make it more attractive to countries to bring in troops, to bring in resources. The president even hinting at their possible purpose to help guard the infrastructure inside of that country while, in the meantime, U.S. troops and hunter teams focus on tackling al Qaeda- types, as well as, other terrorists inside of that country.

GEORGE W. BUSH, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: Working with Iraqis, coalition forces are on offensive against these killers. Aided by increasing flow of intelligence from ordinary Iraqis, we're stepping up raids, seizing enemy weapons, and capturing enemy leaders. The United States, the United Nations, and the civilized world will continue to stand with the people of Iraq. As they reclaim their nation and their future.

MALVAEUX: The president also making a link between the terrorists inside of Iraq and what has happened in the Middle East, really the deterioration of the road map, that explosion that occurred in Israel on Tuesday killing 20 people. The president making it very clear that this administration is cracking down on Hamas, as the president announced that he is directing the Treasury Department to freeze the assets of six top Hamas leaders, as well as, the assets of five nongovernmental organizations believed to contribute financially to the Hamas organization. The president making it very clear that the administration is no longer making a distinction between the political wing, the political leaders of Hamas, and those who are part of the military, more extremist wing -- Renay.
