LINDA STOUFFER, CNN ANCHOR: A daring magic trick goes awry and now a master of illusion is struggling for his life right now in Las Vegas. That after a tiger attacked Roy Horn, one of the duo of Siegfried & Roy. It was onstage, it was in front of a live audience.
For the latest on this, CNN's Miguel Marquez is outside the Las Vegas hospital where he's being treated. Miguel, hello.
MIGUEL MARQUEZ, CNN CORRESPONDENT: How are you there, Linda? Yes, struggling seems to be the proper word here. We here at least on an unofficial basis here at the hospital that he is struggling at this point in the hospital. He's been through surgery overnight, and he may, in fact, be back in surgery at this hour.
Roy Horn, he's the dark haired member of the duo Siegfried & Roy, the act out here in Las Vegas, and apparently was attacked by one of their world famous white tigers. According to an audience member, about 45 minutes into that act last night, the tiger named Monticore (ph) lunged at Horn, grabbing the left side of his neck, and carried the performer all the way backstage. Here's how one witness described it.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: He didn't scream or anything, nothing. All you heard was the microphone pounding on the tiger. We thought it was part of the show. We're waiting for the curtains to come back out.
Even when Siegfried came out, he was out of breath. He was shocked.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
MARQUEZ: Now. Roy Horn and Siegfried Fischbacher have performed this particular act for 13 and a half years at the Mirage here in Las Vegas, and they've performed in Vegas their mix of magic and animals that many of you have probably seen for the last 28 years. I'm told by one person they've done 5,700 performances and never, ever once miss a performance.
Roy Horn turned 59 years old yesterday as well. He spent several hours in surgery last night. He may be back in surgery at this hour. He is still listed in critical condition here at University Medical Center in Las Vegas.
As far as the show, the only thing we are told about it at this point, that it is canceled until further notice. As for the white tiger, Monticore (ph), it is being quarantined -- Linda.
STOUFFER: We'll wait to hear more, Miguel. Thank you.
