RENAY SAN MIGUEL, CNN ANCHOR: Sports news now, in Miami an 11th inning win, the Chicago Cubs beat the Florida Marlins five to four on a triple, by Doug Glanville. The Cubs lead the series two games to one, and are two wins away from making their first appearance in a World Series since 1945.
Now, to Josie Burke in a historic match up today, in Boston and a huge rivalry -- the Red Sox and Yankees square off in game three. Josie, the Rocket versus Pedro.
JOSIE BURKE, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Yeah. If you're a baseball fan it doesn't get much better than this, after what happened last night, the extra inning game in the NLCS and now this. On so many different levels it's compelling. No. 1, you have two of the best pitchers currently in baseball, and two pitchers who will go down as two of the best in history.
In the Red Sox, Pedro Martinez and Roger Clemens of the New York Yankees, and then you add the fact that it is this historic rivalry -- Red Sox versus Yankees, and one more thing, of course, Roger Clemens, all he did was spend the first 14 years of his career in a Red Sox uniform. And, yesterday, he was talking about the fact that this is why he's played two decades, for games like this for the manager, he said, Joe Torre, to hand them the ball and say, "Go get them," in a situation like this.
And, if you're wondering what is going through Pedro Martinez's mind. Well, he's keeping his thoughts to himself. He actually hasn't been speaking to the media for a couple of months, now. And, his manager yesterday, Grady Little, defended that action saying he feels comfortable with it, and it coincided with him getting on a real roll.
This is a very, very hot ticket, as you can imagine, but I can tell you some things have changed in Boston, which is notoriously pessimistic when it comes to the Red Sox. You can tell that there's a lot more optimism, this year, that maybe this is the year the Red Sox will finally win in a couple of ways -- one is, there are about 1,000 people standing outside Fenway Park now, who think they might have a chance to actually buy a ticket at the ticket window.
(LAUGHING)
BURKE: Their prospects, Renay, I can tell you, are not good. If they have about 1,000 bucks in their pocket, they'd be a lot better. SAN MIGUEL: Well you know, hope spring eternal, always it seems, in Boston with their baseball team.
Josie Burke, thanks so much, joining us from Boston.
