KELLY WALLACE, CNN ANCHOR: If you're travel tomorrow remember this, tomorrow will be one of the busiest, if not the busiest travel days of the year. Everyone will be rushing home from Thanksgiving in time for a new work week.
Well, our guest today has some ideas to make the trip smoother, not to mention others you might take. Jessica Stockwell is author of "Live and Travel Well." She spends lots of time searching out gadgets to make your time on the road or in the air less turbulent. She's at CNN Center in Atlanta. Ms. Stockwell, thank you for joining us this weekend.

JESSICA STOCKWELL, AUTHOR: Hi, Kelly, how are you?

WALLACE: Good. I must say, we travel a lot. I travel a lot. I never think about bringing gadgets. What should I bring and why?

STOCKWELL: Well, I'll tell you. I've got all these little gadgets with me today. And I try to categorize things now for the traveler. When you are traveling by air, you need things that are practical, portable and polite. So all these things fit in that category of practical, portable and polite. And you can stash them in your carry-on or stash them in your pocket or briefcase. To help give you a sense of feeling safe, you know, feeling of comfort.

WALLACE: Show us something you have. What's the main thing you would recommend travelers to take along with them?

STOCKWELL: Well, it's a big issue with luggage, checked luggage. And travelers are told by the TSA not to -- not to...

WALLACE: Lock their luggage.

STOCKWELL: Lock their luggage. But the TSA has a new -- this came out about a week ago, it's a TSA lock. And this was put by the TSA in coordination with the Travel Goods Association. And right now, there's a little emblem on it. And this is like a certification. It's the Travel Century Certified Lock.

And so you can lock this, but nobody else can open this except for the TSA. So when this is on your luggage, the TSA will recognize it. That doesn't necessarily mean they're going to open your luggage, but if they do, they have a way to get into this lock, open it, without damaging your lock or damaging your luggage.

So this new item is just out and has a price point of about $7.50 to $8.50. WALLACE: Where can people get that?

STOCKWELL: You can get that at any retail, any travel gadget outlet. Also, that's really probably the travel stores.

WALLACE: What else would you highly recommend, some of the top items you would say every traveler should take before he or she leaves home?

STOCKWELL: This is what every traveler should have. It's this little mini light. Lithium battery lights that come on. And they're really portable. And this one has a little clip so you can clip it on to your keys or other items.

I was just up in New York on the 14th of August for the blackout. And I happened to have two of these with me. And it came in handy when I was going down the stairs in the dark. You can use them in a car with somebody else and you're following them, you can take this little light and use that also. This is a great item.

WALLACE: Ms. Stockwell, we'll have to leave it there, I'm sorry to say. But thank you for coming in this afternoon with useful advice as travelers hit the road tomorrow.

STOCKWELL: Thank you.
