Another Interstate Highway Shooting in Ohio

KELLI ARENA, CNN ANCHOR: We begin with breaking news from Ohio. There's been another highway shooting along a stretch of interstate, this time I-70. Police say it appears to be linked to the string of shootings near Columbus on Interstate 270 and 71.
Reporter Mariza Reyes with affiliate WSYX joins us live by phone from Granville, Ohio, with details, of the latest incident.
(CROSSTALK)
MARIZA REYES, WSYX CORRESPONDENT: Kelli, the shooting happened around 10:15 this morning, just 17 miles east of Columbus. Task force investigators told me only one car, a Chevy Suburban was shot on Interstate 70 while the car was heading eastbound.
Eyewitnesses -- several eyewitnesses say they saw the shooter standing on an overpass with a rifle. They describe him to be a white male with dark hair, sunglasses and wearing a dark coat. One witness told me after the shooter took the shot, he calmly left the scene.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: And I seen the guy up there, and I seen his gun. And as soon as we seen that, we heard the shot go off. And I said, (UINTELLIGIBLE), that's that sniper. She said, no, it ain't.
We started pulling over, and we seen him pull his gun and (UNINTELLIGIBLE) heading southbound on (UNINTELLIGIBLE) street. I said that guy behind us seen him too. We didn't think we got hit. The guy there didn't know he got hit. And I said you got hit right here in your fender. Showed him the bullet hole.
REYES (on camera): Did you actually see a guy or you just saw the harm (ph)...
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: We saw the guy get in his car. And, so, it's pretty nerve wracking just to know that we saw the guy that we're trying to find. It's hard to find him.

REYES: Now, luckily there were no injuries in the shooting. And apparently investigators told me the bullet is lodged in the guy's car battery in that Suburban.
Now it appears to be consistent with the other 23 shootings around Columbus. Investigators aren't saying whether or not this is the same guy that took a shot at two cars last weekend in Fayette County. But they do believe this may be the same man doing the same thing.
