The Search for Chandra: No New Leads; Police Continue Park Searches

COLLEEN MCEDWARDS, CNN ANCHOR: No new leads in the Chandra Levy investigation. Police in Washington, D.C. are considering their next move.

CNN's national correspondent Eileen O'Connor is covering that story for us this morning -- Eileen.

EILEEN O'CONNOR, CNN NATIONAL CORRESPONDENT: Well, Colleen, police are continuing their search of area parks this week. So far after searching several parks in the Washington area, parks they say did not have much pedestrian traffic where perhaps signs of a body could have been missed by passerbys in the last three months, they haven't turned up anything promising. In Rock Creek Park they have been staying close to paths and roadways, looking, they say, for signs of someone entering the thicker underbrush to perhaps hide a body. And they continue to interview people who might have information. Putting a memo under the doors of tenants in Chandra Levy's apartment building asking them to get in touch with detectives if they have not been interviewed.

In addition, police sources say they may want to interview Congressman Gary Condit for a fourth time. They have indicated they are not completely satisfied with a polygraph the congressman passed but was administered privately. Also, police sources said that a few hours before police began a July 10th search of Condit's apartment, he was spotted putting what turned out to be a watch case in a trash can in a Virginia suburb. It was traced to a California store, and according to police sources, to a woman who said she'd bought a watch for Condit as a gift -- Colleen.
