Powerball Winner Comes Forward

KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: The people who hold three of the four winning Powerball lottery tickets still haven't come forward to claim their portion of the $295 million prize, but David Edwards has.

As Michelle Kimbler (ph) of affiliate WOWK reports, Edwards first thought he had only won 20 bucks.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

DAVID EDWARDS, POWERBALL WINNER: Here is the winning numbers, and there is my ticket.

MICHELLE KIMBLER, WOWK REPORTER (voice-over): He feels like a million bucks.

EDWARDS: I am going to get $74,750,000.

(LAUGHTER)

EDWARDS: Hello. Say that fast.

KIMBLER: David Edwards is one of four winners who matched all six numbers in Saturday night's near record Powerball jackpot.

EDWARDS: And I looked at the numbers, and I looked at it, and I seen I had the Powerball and I had two other numbers. Well, I thought I had won $20.

KIMBLER: But when he glanced again...

EDWARDS: I jumped out of the car and started praising God. Thank you, Lord, thank you, Lord, that I won this money.

KIMBLER: David has been playing Powerball religiously for some time, but this time?

EDWARDS: I feel like the luckiest man in this country today. I bought five tickets and picked the numbers, and then I bought two tickets quick pick.

KIMBLER: His fiancee didn't even want him to gamble this game.

SHAWNA MADDUX, EDWARDS' FIANCEE: And he's always the one always plays the lottery, and I'm like, oh, don't waste your money. KIMBLER: But seven bucks was a small price to pay this time.

EDWARDS: One of the things I really would like to do in the future is travel.

KIMBLER: And it has earned them both tickets to toy with what was once fantasy.
