VINCE CELLINI, CNN ANCHOR: Well, we told you earlier about a fire in Weaverville, California. There have been some evacuations there. And right now by phone we want to talk to Jason Martin who is going to update us on the very latest.

Jason, what do we know?

JASON MARTIN, WEAVERVILLE FIRE INFO. OFFICER: Right now we're looking at 1,946 acres. We have approximately 15 percent containment. The winds have died down and that's helped the fire to lay down, so to speak, overnight. Hopefully the winds -- the winds will stay calm and once the -- once sunup comes, the helicopters and air tankers will be back on it again hitting it hard and heavy.

CELLINI: Do we have any injuries to report from these fires?

MARTIN: No injuries at this point. There have been nine homes and three RVs that have been destroyed but approximately 200 structures have been saved.

CELLINI: Well, you said the good news is that we're getting a little closer to trying to get some control on these fires in Weaverville, California.

MARTIN: Yes, definitely. We just have to hope that the -- that the winds stay calm. The winds were really fueling it bad last night so we just have to hope that they stay calm.

CELLINI: All right, thank you very much, Jason Martin.

We understand that about a dozen homes have been lost to the fire. And again, city schools have been canceled there, and we've also had some jail and hospital evacuations.

CAROL LIN, CNN ANCHOR: Yes, boy, we've been watching that all night long,...

CELLINI: Just a very hectic situation.

LIN: ... and it is developing pretty quickly.
