DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: First, though, a check of the business headlines, and anything hot as that burning trailer on Wall Street, David.
DAVID HAFFENREFFER, CNN FINANCIAL NEWS CORRESPONDENT: I don't think so, especially on the heels of all of that yesterday, Daryn.
If early indications hold on this morning, we are looking for a mixed to possibly higher open today for Wall Street. Throughout the morning, the nation's retailers, from names like Wal-Mart to Sears, will be posting their October sales numbers, and we'll have to see how the investors react to those reports.
Markets yesterday closed, for the most part, lower. The Dow industrials fell 36 points; S&P 500 index slipping 3 points, but the Nasdaq composite managed to edge up by 2 points.
Well, an energy deal maybe announced today. According to published reports, Dynegy may buy the embattled energy trading company, Enron, for as much as $8 billion in stock. Enron shares have been hammered for weeks on concerns about its liquidity and credit worthiness.
And finally, here are some other stocks to watch this morning. Clear Channel, a large operator of radio and TV stations, posting a net loss of $232 million. That was wider than expected. But Pixar Animation's profit of $6.2 million beat estimates, although revenues slumped. The results do not include Pixar's latest film, "Monsters, Inc."
And that is the latest financial news.
