THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED. CATHERINE CALLAWAY, CNN ANCHOR: First, a look at business with David Haffenreffer in New York.
DAVID HAFFENREFFER, CNN FINANCIAL NEWS CORRESPONDENT: Well, Catherine, we'll see if the market can make it a hat trick in today's session. This after a two-day rally for all of the major market averages.
At this point, the stock index futures are pointing to a higher open for us in today's session. Yesterday, the Dow picked up about 72 points, the Nasdaq composite adding 11 points, and that was enough for the Nasdaq to close above 1900 for the first time in three months.
Some potential movers today: Weight Watchers begins trading on the New York Stock Exchange -- this under the ticker symbol WTW. Its shares were priced late yesterday at 24 bucks a pop.
Yahoo! holding an analyst meeting. It will detail a restructuring, which is expected to include lay offs.
And Dell Computer reports quarterly earnings after trading closes. We'll see if the stock moves ahead of that release.
And a tech titan calls it quits. Harry Blodget, an Internet analyst at Merrill Lynch, is leaving. Blodget accepted a buyout offer Merrill has extended to its 50,000 employees. Blodget gained fame during the Internet bubble for correctly predicting Amazon.com, when it had $400 a share, but he was also criticized for touting some spectacular Internet failures, such as Pets.com and eToys. And Amazon.com shares closed yesterday at $9.49 a share.
That is the latest in business news.
