DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: Well it looks like it's going to be a cold day for many of you, a cold day in Denver at least, but you know what, we have a heart-warming story for you from Denver.
It comes from Heidi Collins. She's with our affiliate KUSA, and it's a story about one man and what he found in the snow.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
TIM LEAVITT, FOUND DIAMOND: It was snowy and muddy up there, and the odds of finding it I think were plenty slim.
HEIDI COLLINS, KUSA-TV REPORTER (voice-over): But find it he did. Tim Leavitt has always been lucky. This time it happened on the top of the DIA parking garage.
LEAVITT: There was two ladies looking for something. When we parked our car, we went out beside them, asked them what they were looking for. They said an engagement ring. Said they had found the ring but had lost the diamond.
COLLINS (on camera): After Tim and his wife had dropped off his mother at the airport, they were walking back to their car just joking with each other about how great it would be if they could find the diamond. And that's when Tim stopped and looked down at his feet and saw something shiny.
LEAVITT: We said wouldn't it be funny if we saw that diamond or found that diamond like that one there. Reached over and found it, so.
COLLINS (voice-over): The gem had been lying there overnight, a little beat up but clearly still precious to someone.
LEAVITT: I'd say it's probably a half-carat.
COLLINS: After hours of searching Level Five, Row H of the West Garage, no luck for the bride-to-be, until now.
LEAVITT: I'm not doing it to be on TV and I'm not doing it for fame or gain or whatever, I really felt bad for this girl. I really want her to get it back.
COLLINS: That's when Tim Leavitt will feel just a little bit like...
LEAVITT: Santa Claus.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
KAGAN: Oh, we'll have to follow up on that story and let you know if the diamond finds the fiancee and if that man's a hero in terms of engagement rings.
That story coming from Heidi Collins of our Denver affiliate KUSA.
