DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: Hey, a little bit of a bah humbug for you here now. It's about a grinch who stole the Grinch. A Christmas story for you from Jeff Gradney from our Seattle affiliate KING.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
DONNA JASMER, HOMEOWNER: I mean it's bad.
JEFF GRADNEY, KING-TV REPORTER (voice-over): Donna Jasmer bought a big light-up grinch the day after Thanksgiving. It became the pride of her yard atop Queen Anne Hill, decorated for the holidays.
JASMER: This year I think we really needed more decorations so I decided that I needed to get something even bigger, something that would really make people more happy, and the grinch had a good expressions on his face. He was -- he was eight feet tall.
GRADNEY: Late Sunday night, someone stole the grinch, along with Jasmer's lights and other Christmas decorations.
JASMER: I was disappointed. A lot of kids were so happy. The night before, we had seen a couple cars stop, and one of the cars stopped and took pictures of the grinch.
GRADNEY: The mother of five says the grinch she paid 50 bucks for was a big deal for her family, and she's trying to understand why someone would swipe it.
JASMER: You know maybe it's a college prank, maybe somebody wanted the decoration for their kids or something, but they've got to know that, you know, I want them for my kids, too.
GRADNEY (on camera): Jasmer says she's been through this before. Christmas just a few years ago, someone stole two giant toy soldiers from her yard. Well they were returned. She's optimistic someone will bring the grinch back too.
JASMER: I still think it'll come back.
GRADNEY (voice-over): Jasmer is saving the space in her yard for it.
In Seattle, Jeff Gradney, KING 5 News.

KAGAN: Well let's see, we solved the story of the missing engagement ring earlier this hour, so hopefully we'll solve the story of the missing grinch as well.
